- Andrew (9/5): Remote stay with great facilities, don't forget the hot tub! - The location was nice and quiet, shops were a short drive away. The hot tub was amazing. We really enjoyed our stay! Don't really have anything to put here, it ticked all the boxes.
- Fiona (7/5): - The stay was gorgeous, I booked it for my mam and gran for Mother’s Day! They loved it The actual lodge was covered in dog hairs!! I have taken a video of the dog hairs that were all over the bed it was even in the dishes and plates.
When I booked with booking.com i was made aware it was pet friendly but I still expected it to be clean. Was very disappointed. (Stayed in lodge 16)

- Rosie (10/5): - The lodge was lovely, well maintained and very comfortable, we had everything we needed. The bed was really comfortable and all the rooms were really spacious. We had a problem with the temperature of our hot tub and the maintenance guy was really helpful. Location was great, both village pubs were in walking distance and very nice, log fires and excellent food.
- Luke (10/5): - Hot tub and lodge were well kept and comfortable
- Maya (9/5): Amazing place to relax and celebrate - The hot tub was amazing, we all enjoyed it so much and the rooms were very spacious We would’ve preferred 2 double rooms instead of 1 double and 1 single as we went as a group of 2 couples

- Liam (9/5): Great Value Stay! - Cedar Retreats is a fantastic little escape just outside Ripon, offering great value and a wonderfully relaxing stay. The lodge had everything we needed and felt peaceful and cosy, with the added bonus of a hot tub — perfect for an early morning soak while watching the sunrise and the sheep in the nearby field. Set in a lovely village and just a short drive from town, it’s an ideal spot for a quiet break. We’d definitely recommend it and will certainly be back. The hot tub could have done with water adding part way through the stay.
- Brett (10/5): -
- James (10/5): - Quick and easy EVERYTHING This not applicable for our stay
- Simon (9/5): Great location, peaceful, relaxing and a great accommodation - The location, hot tub and the facilities in the cabin. Check out time was a bit too early. No chance of a lie in on Sunday morning.
- Doris (10/5): Perfect short break - Lovely quiet location and perfect to relax. The hot tub was fantastic. Nothing
- Ellie (10/5): -
- Gillian (10/5): -
- Tracy (10/5): - Lovely peaceful site. Staff very helpful Nothing
- Mira (9/5): -
- Belshaw (10/5): Peaceful and relaxing - Beautiful area and plenty to see and do around the area. Beautiful scenery. The amount of chlorine in the hot tub.
- Kate (8/5): Lovely short family break. - Location was lovely, quiet and easy to get to. Hot tub was fabulous. The property was clean. The staff on the welcome desk were super helpful. I had trouble locking the patio doors and this made me anxious about the security of the property. There was no one in the office to raise my concerns with in the morning or evening.
- Natalie (10/5): Fabulous stay at the retreat, would definately recommend for a relaxing weekend away - Spacious lodges on lovely grounds, peaceful and homely.
We stayed in the 2 bedroom lodge with the hot tub which was amazing! Very clean and comfortable. Has everything you need and finished to a very high standard. We liked everything, nothing to complain about
- Michelle (10/5): -
- Elaine (10/5): Relax time - Beautiful place. Quiet location. So nice to get away and relax Would have jus liked a bit better view from back of lodge where hot tub was. Overall though I really can't complain
- Mayman (10/5): A perfect relaxing holiday break - A very picturesque place to visit. Fabulous facilities. Friendly staff. Size of accommodation we stayed in was perfect for 2 people . A very comfortable bed which you don't get when holidaying in hotels. Nothing
- Andrew (10/5): Amazing - Everything was beautiful and well presented, from the inside and outside of the lodge. Hot tub was so relaxing and the actual site is so peaceful it makes the perfect combo.
- Jaybee60 (9/5): A lovely small and quiet site - We've been a couple of times before, and it's always been a great experience. It's a lovely, small, well tended site. Very quiet, with lovely views and the lodges are well maintained, with everything you need. Mmm, I can't think of anything, sorry!
- Antony (8/5): Perfect for a short stay in a beautiful part of North Yorkshire. - Excellent simple, clean accommodation with hot tub and well equipped kitchen set in a secluded park. Chalets are too close to each other, not as comfortable as you would hope and ultimately blandly decorated.
- Toby (9/5): Great location, lovely peaceful environment, superb for families -
- Erin (8/5): Relaxing long weekend - Nice for a relaxing trip away.
Homely. Not for those wanting lots of activities, more suited to those wanting a quiet trip.
- Knight (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wayne (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and very quiet, lovely walk to pub in the village. Lodge was comfortable and situated against a hill which screened it off from the road and made it very private. Nobody looked in on you, but everyone else was only doing what everyone else was doing. Going in jacuzzi and lounging round it in the sun. The Lodge itself could do with a bit of undoing, cracks and chunks in plaster to be filled. Could do with a coat of paint and a clean.
- Dene&sueformby (10/5): Great stay, will come back - Comfy bed, well equipped kitchen, easy to use TV, plenty of cupboard space. Tin opener didn’t work and too early check out, 10 would be better. The hot tub is noisy at night.
- Jodie (6/5): Pleasant - The outdoor area was lovely providing a table and chairs and a private hot tub. We couldn’t fault this part of our stay. The staff were very friendly and welcoming too. This site was peaceful which is what we were looking for and the location was good Local shops and centre were not too far away. Unfortunately, the kitchen was not well-equipped, which was disappointing as we enjoy cooking meals when staying in properties like this. Many of the utensils appeared quite worn, and the knives were blunt and rusty. There was also no pizza tray for the oven. A few more basic cooking essentials would have made a big difference. For the price, it would also have been appreciated if some complimentary items such as tea, coffee, sugar, salt, and pepper were provided.
Cleanliness was also below expectations in several areas. There was visible dust, hair, and cobwebs on furniture, walls, and floors, even without looking too closely. The oven had not been cleaned after the previous guests; it still contained foil with bacon grease, and the oven door and trays were dirty. We also found a cup in the cupboard with a coffee ring, suggesting it hadn’t been properly washed. This was mainly in the living room and kitchen areas. The bedroom and bathroom were clean.
Overall, we felt the property did not offer good value for the price paid, given the lack of kitchen essentials and the standard of cleanliness.
- Shaun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nadine (9/5): Superb - The peace and tranquility, the front outside dining area in the evening sun. The amazing hot tub. No pizza slicer.
- Carol (9/5): Excellent and would return for a weekend sometime if the price was right - The lodges are in a lovely area and it's countryside. You can walk to the nearest village within 15 minutes. Lots of lovely pubs in the areas to go to. One thing to consider if you are a light sleeper. The hot tubs make a low thudding noise all day and night and so it did disturb my sleep. They never seem to switch off.
- Isobel (10/5): Exceptional - Very peaceful and relaxing. Perfect spot for a chilled weekend away.
- Alex (9/5): Superb -
- Kellie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (10/5): WILL go again, you bet. - Fantastic place, very well kept, staff wonderful. Clean, tidy and well kept
- John (9/5): If you want peace and quiet in the country this is it! - Well equipped, comfortable and warm. Hot tub is noisy during night and disturbs sleep if it’s right outside your bedroom patio doors! Light sleepers beware!
- Tony (9/5): Superb -
- Ross (10/5): Exceptional -
- Allen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Josh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (8/5): Very relaxing -
- Martin (9/5): Great base for long course weekend in masham. - Hot tub was great! Nothing really , if you could just make the walk to the pub shorter 😂😂
- Josh (1/5): Never received deposit back. Left spotless. Rang up was told 7-10 days. Over 6weeks later no deposit returned. Scam -
- Michal (10/5): Perfect for couples looking for quiet place to relax. - Hot tub was amazing, regenerates muscles after long walks in no time! Had to replace remote batteries but luckily I had some spare with me.
- Claire (8/5): Very good -
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gemma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hendry (4/5): Disappointing - The unprofessional response on out of hours number emergency situation No electric middle of the night
Response
Power grid are coming I can't say when
No one came to see if ok or rang us just left us in the dark disappointed no duty of care to guests
- Stephanie (9/5): Lovely stay at these luxury lodges - Beautiful peaceful place. Lodges are well equipped and comfortable. Has everything you need for a luxury few days break. Hot tub was a great addition. We had a lodge with a lake view and it was lovely to see that outside our lounge window. A few niggling issues we had were dealt with once reported. We would be happy to return here. The rules of the lodges were sent at least 4 times in different ways to us before we arrived, by text, email, over the phone! It was a bit off putting and not a good welcoming feeling. I also think that its not acceptable to ask us to strip all our bedding before we leave, im sure that's housekeeping's tasks!
- Melissa (8/5): Perfect tranquil hot tub getaway - Very clean, homely, hot tub was great! Close by to so many lovely historical sights and towns. Would come back again! The fireplace remote was broken so we couldn’t use that.
It wasn’t planned so not the fault of the staff but due to an electricity power cut we had to switch off all appliances so couldn’t use that in the morning of leaving.
- Kamla (8/5): Relaxing time with family - Comfortable lodges. Clean and well equipped. No negatives
- Adam (1/5): Bad -
- Helen (10/5): We thoroughly the hot tub, and the well maintained outside area. The lodge was spacious, clean, comfortable and had ever - Spacious, clean and comfortable. Nothing.
- Colin (10/5): Best place in Yorkshire to stay - The perfect lodge in a perfect location, so clean and so quite, fabulous hot tub too! maybe a washer dryer if the washer needs to be replaced as hard to get cloths dry after a long day working out in the rain!
- Michael (10/5): Very enjoyable and relaxing -
- Christine (8/5): Perfect! - Well laid out and beautifully clean. There was everything we needed in our lodge The property was great and I could not fault it.
- Josh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathy (9/5): Superb - Great cabin , hot tub and beautiful scenery, nice and quiet There was some work being done to tree stumps outside our cabin , although we were asked if it was
- William (10/5): Amazing stay - Very nice, very friendly at welcoming Not a lot nearby
- Andrew (9/5): Fantastic place to stay for a trip to Yorkshire. - Lovely location & grounds. Hot tub was super and the property was generally comfortable and nicely decorated. The bed was very hard and so we didn’t sleep very well. Perhaps having a medium firmness would suit the majority of people better. Or a mattress topper could be offered/provided.
- Marie (9/5): Beautiful weekend excellent quality accommodation with everything you need - Property had everything and more you could want for weekend break. High end furnishings and appliances. Hot tub excellent and well maintained. Beautiful location pub short walk short drive to lovely villages Nothing
- Musgrove (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harriet (8/5): They stay was lovely however all the activities around are outdoors so wet weather there is much to do. however, if you’ - There wasn’t much not to like about the property Nothing in particular
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely spacious lodge, as described. Nice hot tub, excellent location. Everything as expected
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (7/5): Good -
- Kevin (10/5): Relaxing,Comfortable,Great Location - Fantastic All of it
- Gareth (10/5): Beautiful lodges, beautiful setting - The lodge had everything you could need and was furnished to a very high standard. The staff at reception were also very friendly and helpful, and keen to ensure we were comfortable. Hot water ran out a bit too quickly - our showers were not excessively long.
- Tina (10/5): Lovely friendly peaceful place. Nice and relaxing. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. - Lovely, clean, quiet, peaceful. Nothing it was perfect.
- Carl (9/5): Superb -
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lesley (6/5): We enjoyed the tranquility and the position but was shocked at the lack of finesse and level of luxury looking at the fe - Location , hot tub No welcome pack apart from basic washing up and a few hot drink sachets, only one beds get Prosecco , it doesn’t say that in advert, how discriminatory is that! We were celebrating my mums 99th birthday.
The tables were unwiped and sticky with food and wine. There were long black hairs in the bed. The hairdryer went up in flames. The toiletries were measly. We paid over £800 for 48 hours and had to pay extra for early and late check in which are both later and earlier than any other self catering I’ve stayed in. I had 2 disabled guests and trying to get out by 9:30 would have been extremely difficult .
However the staff were very welcoming and helpful and responsive to our needs . Thank you
- Andrew (9/5): Excellent base to explore Yorkshire - Very clean and comfortable the hot tub was excellent just right temperature for us anyway
Lodge was nice and warm even with no heating on No dislikes
- Hilary (6/5): A lovely place for a calming break, but needs more attention to cleaning of the accommodation generally. - Had everything we needed, location was good, site was calm. The hot tub was good once it was changed to a suitable temperature and we worked out how the jets worked (instructions didn’t cover this point so it would have been easy to assume it was simply a very low powered hot tub). It had not been cleaned sufficiently. I had to clean nearly everything save the cutlery in the kitchen before it could be used, including the washing up bowl that was covered in oil (pooled in the bottom!). The tea pot and cafetière were dirty, as were some saucepans.
The washing up bowl had been stowed on top of the (very high) fridge freezer which would be ok if everyone staying were 6 foot tall or more (i’m 5’3”). The cupboard with the oven dishes posed a similar issue…
The bathroom ceiling had paint damage above the shower (blistering) which was unsightly.
There were quite a lot of cobwebs in each room.
Final point was that the outside lights, which we assume are on sensors, kept being triggered at night. The blackout curtain liners didn’t go down to the floor (stopping around 12-18” short) which meant this woke us up each night at least once.
- Gavin (10/5): BRILLIANT STAY IN A TOP SPEC LODGE WITH EVERYTHING YOU COULD NEED INC HOTTUB - EXCELLENT VENUE BY THE LAKE WARM AND V QUITE
- Chris (10/5): Ducks - Lovely ducks and the hot tub
- Becca (10/5): Exceptional - The space and the size How hot it was inside the lodge as we didn’t know how to control the heating as every time we changed it it jumped back up to 30 degrees and no matter what we done it wouldn’t decrease the temperature
- G (10/5): Perfect getaway - Everything, the peace and quiet, cleanliness of the lodge and the surroundings. The hot tub was amazing! Can't think of anything, perfect!
- Linda (9/5): A wonderful family weekend away. - We loved the location of the property, it is close to several attractions and beautiful little villages. the lodge is well equipped and comfortable and the hot tub was great. There’s honestly little to fault, but would have preferred it if the hot tub area was a little more private. Check out is also very early and quite expensive to extend.
- Andy (10/5): Exceptional -
