Guest Reviews
- Yvonne (6/5): Good but better explaination of the facilities prior to booking would be helpful . - It’s location, the layout of the house, the decor It was cold in every room
the parking charges were not understood or explained properly. Very expensive if you have multiple cars ..
The kitchen was equipped unequally.
The hot water quickly ran out of if all was using showers / bath at the same time
The fridge was not cleaned it had fish juice in the bottom of it .
The green mold around the top bedroom window was unsightly.
Wash pods would have been helpful and maybe some basic toiletries
- allison (7/5): - Lovely cottage feel, location, kitchen lovely No locks on bathrooms, when sharing with others its not ideal. I know this has been mentioned on other reviews and it is a real issue.
Not enough seating in living room when party of more than 6, the 2 chairs are not comfortable as hard and uncomfortable, we didn't all sit together because of this.
Bath in main bathroom seal on door is green and needs removing and cleaning, it was awful.
- Stephanie (9/5): Great location with room for 8 adults. - Great location, perfect size for us. Lovely and clean. Needs locks on bathroom doors. Needs loo roll holders. Needs enough wine glasses for 8 people. Needs enough seats for 8 people in the lounge. Needs a proper sized fridge; such a size for 8 adults is hopeless (especially when the bottle holders in the door are no longer present).
We loved the place but those little tweaks would make it perfect.
- Linda (7/5): Staithes holiday - Bedrooms lovely. Beds and bedding comfortable House was unheated on arrival. Everyone felt cold for the first night and next morning until cottage warmed up.
No welcome pack. (Wine, flowers, biscuits as most cottages do).
Not enough wine glasses for house capacity. No utensil to lift fried eggs out of frying pan. No tin foil, cling film, kitchen roll, salt, pepper, ketchup, mayonnaise..tea, coffee, sugar.
We regularly stay in rental holiday cottages and always find these things provided. We brought our own food to cook but had to go out shopping for all of the above items before we could just have a cup of tea.
- Jamie (7/5): Disappointing Christmas Stay - The property has a lot of charm and is well located Minimal or no cleaning had been done. Dirt and rubbish piled up outside the kitchen window. One of the showers was blocked with slimy hair and overflowed through the kitchen ceiling on Christmas Eve.Oven was filthy. Had food remnants from previous guests.
- Paul (8/5): Comfortable property in a great location. - Good size property in a great location. Some minor maintenance required.
- Bal (7/5): -
- Cassie (8/5): A lovely stay in a lovely house in an excellent location. - Excellent location, comfortable furnishings. Could have been slightly cleaner.
- Amy (10/5): Can’t wait to go back, ideal location and perfect for a family holiday - Fantastic location and beautifully decorated property Could do with a deep clean (bathrooms and walls)
- Steven (10/5): -
- Howard (8/5): -
- Claire (7/5): Very pleasant stay in a character cottage - Great size, character, and location.
Having 3 bathrooms was perfect Cleanliness is the only thing that lets it down. Plates and glasses in the cupboards were wet and dirty. There were random bits of food in the cupboards and freezer like no one had checked cleanliness between guests.
- Tom (2/5): Very disappointing not worth the money - Location Overflowing bins at front door & rubbish on steps didn’t actually want to go in cottage.Terrible smell when opened cottage door like drains & musty smell - couldn’t open any downstairs windows - beds filthy so bad had to go and buy new bedding
- Maggie (7/5): Toffee crackle cottage is a very style well set out cottage right in the middle of Staithes - The situation and the decor The fact it needed a good deep clean
- Keely (8/5): Lots of room for 7-8 adults and in a good location, - Location, great for a large group having 4 bedrooms and three bathrooms. The internet was really bad for watching films. And there was some areas that needed cleaning not good when you have to pay extra for the cleaning yourself.
Needs some more utilities there wasn’t a spatula’s for eggs. Only one bin bag and only one dishwasher tablet for 7 people for 3 day and only one toilet roll in each bathroom. The garden needs some tidying would be a lovely addition to sit outside. And would be great to have locks on the bathroom doors
- Paula (5/5): Passable -
- Siobhan (7/5): Good - Location and the layout of the house. Having 3 bathrooms made such a difference. Beds were super comfy and the bedrooms were clean Cleanliness. I dont like leaving negative reviews but we were unable to use the oven as it looked liked it had never been cleaned, which is a shame. Lack of cleaning products to wipe down the kitchen work tops. Dirty paw prints on the kitchen doors. I don't think the floors in the bathrooms, dining room and living room have been mopped. They we're quite dirty unfortunately.
- Kelly (5/5): Lovely village to stay in, Toffee crackle could have been better, has the potential to be amazing. - Location, modern decoration. Dirty ( floors, walls, cobwebs) and unkempt. uncomfortable lounge area (sofa). WiFi bad, TV bad reception didn’t have many channels only BBC and then had to stream other channels but no WiFi so couldn’t watch anything. Cold house, heating not effective enough. Hot water not enough for our family of four to shower. A lot of money for the house, stayed last May and was much better, that’s why we returned.
- Mary (8/5): Very relaxing - Location, well equipped, very comfortable Silly things, couldn’t locate iron, no salt or pepper or condiments.
- Clare (8/5): Very good - Nice & spacious in a good location. There was no tumble dryer which stated there was. Also lack of cooking equipment. No cheese grater, A small frying which wouldn't cater for 8 people & rusty baking trays. The dish washer smelt!!
- Pete (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (7/5): Nice cottage in great location - The house is quite characterful upstairs. On the whole nicely decorated. The main two bedrooms are very comfortable. Good quality linen. Nice bathrooms. Good shower. Really close to the sea and great access for coastal walk Two friendly pubs within a stones throw. Good shape/size of dining room table for group meals. A number of TV channels. We knew to expect that you couldn't park outside the house, but you can actually pull up on the pavement to unload which doesn't block the road. The parking space provided was very difficult to get into, but still a bonus. It would have been useful to know that out of season one of the car parks at the top is free (but the other charges and the wifi doesn't work up there to try to pay so take cash). The house smelt a little musty when we arrived and downstairs is a bit uninspiring in daytime (I felt the pictures depicted this well so I didn't expect much) but in the evening the lighting and heating makes it feel cosy. Fridge is small for 8 people and there isn't enough sofa/comfortable seating for even 6. Could use a cheese grater and a bit more cutlery. The house appears to have a condensation issue which meant that one of the beds was absolutely wet through. Luckily we didn't need it as there were only 6 of us, but it meant wasting the en-suite that came with it. Still had a nice time though. The yard is a bit grim but again we expected that - it was fine for letting the dog out. Feels like it could be spruced up quite easily.
- Emma (6/5): Pleasant - Great location, lovely decor. Damp and mould in the attic bedroom.
- Steve (10/5): A perfectly located cottage in the heart of the village just a few metres away from the two village pubs. Me and my wife - A very comfortable and quirky cottage right in the centre. Nothing.
- Rebecca (10/5): Excellent family weekend in a gorgeous locations - Amazing location right next to the harbour, pubs and cafes. The property was modern, spacious and clean. Nothing bad to say about this property.
- Jodi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leanne (7/5): Great location and comfortable, however some small changes could improve the property. The owners of the property may ne - The location was excellent and the house was well decorated and modern. The crockery in the cupboards were dirty and the outside area at the back was very unkept.
There was a damp smell downstairs and downstairs especially the kitchen could do with a deep clean.
- Herschell (10/5): Exceptional - Accommodation was in great location in heart of staìthes, plenty of space, everything we needed.
- Carole (9/5): A very memorable stay with family - Location and size
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
