Guest Reviews

- Tanisha (8/5): Pleasant stay, good location - Lovely staff, comfortable beds and rooms very clean Bathrooms and kitchen were basic but kept clean and still fine. Simple breakfast but still nice

On recommande !
- marina (7/5): - Estaba bastante completo . Cerca del centro Que no tenía ventana
- Fiama (9/5): -
- Maxie (10/5): -
- Siu Cheung (8/5): nice staff but isolated location - nice & helpful staff. long distance to bus terminal, toilet & kitchen need to pass through the open area. be consider the rainy day and winter. More mosquito at night.
- Alice (10/5): -

- Georgina (10/5): -
- Jeanette (10/5): -
- Anahi (10/5): - El lugar hermoso, super tranquilo!
- Florian (8/5): Gemütliches Hostel - Sehr nettes Hostel, etwas abseits vom center.

- Senka (9/5): Superb - I really liked the simplistic vibe of the hostel, especially the attention that the two cats and occasional stray dogs are getting.
The bathrooms are adjacent to the sleeping area, but very well organized, so that was not a problem.
The yard was amazing to chill and work, but only while there was sun - otherwise it would get too cold. There are no lockers in shared room, but I felt safe
- Ryoko (1/5): Bad - This hostel, too, is very deceptive in that Argentinian hostels list their properties on USD terms, but when you get there, they apply an exchange rate that's far favorable to them than a current exchange rate, enabling them to charge travelers more in Argentinian pesos than what was originally displayed in USD on Booking.com. Because this hostel did that to me, I actually ran out of cash and had to run to a money exchange to get last minute Argentinian pesos despite my leaving for Bolivia soon after this.
I really hate Argentinians. I have traveled throughout the country and had very bad experiences at many places, and now confidently say that they really are bad people and it's extremely difficult to find honest Argentinians. Just as they keep defaulting on national debts, Argentinians are very irresponsible and I would never ever want to go back or have anything to do with them.
- Magdalena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Evie (10/5): 100% recommend! - We really enjoyed our stay at Mestiza Hostal! Less than a 10 minute walk from the bus station and we felt at home immediately. Our room was spacious yet cosy and the hostel itself is really pretty (I especially liked the courtyard). The staff were excellent, especially Camila and we loved hanging out with the resident cats. They only accept cash payment, but this wasn’t a problem as we knew in advance and could get the money out!
- Manuel (10/5): Peaceful, Welcoming and Clean - The volunteers were very helpful and the place was very peaceful. I could easily have stayed for months!
The cute cats were a welcome and added bonus. The breakfast even though good, could have been more copious.
- Harmen (8/5): Very good -
- Alexis (6/5): Pleasant -
- Soledad (9/5): Nice stay in Humahuaca - Very friendly and helpful staff. We could stay in the shared areas before check in and after check out. The rooms are lovely decorated. Clean and nice. Beautiful garden. Breakfast was a bit tiny and boring.
- Candice (7/5): Good -
- Yuhua (8/5): Very good - The staff are kind and friendly.
It’s a cozy room and comfortable bed.
The breakfast was good!
Nice atmosphere in the hostel.
There are 2 cute cats. The kitchen is a bit tiny.
- Kata (3/5): They don't follow the normal USD - ARG peso rate, they charged everyone extra with the Blue dolar - The hostel would be very nice, the only problem is they charge you the Blue dolar rate and you will only see this after you reserved with Booking.com so you can't cancel your stay. They refuse to send me an invoce in both currencies because of course the USD rate is the normal one that all accomodations have to follow here on the app.
Breakfast is super small, maybe enough for a baby.
If you don't want surprises when you arrive and you want to know exactly how much you need to pay don't stay with them.
- Mohamed (7/5): Good - Good for what you pay for hostal life. The staff were really friendly and super helpful. Cat smell on the sheet and room in general.
- Stanley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yannick (9/5): Superb - Comfortable room, attentive staff, cats on premises The door couldn't be locked
- Augustin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Augustin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katrina (10/5): Lovely hostel with amazing staff! - Staff were amazing and breakfast was included in the price! Plenty of spacious bathrooms with hot water 24/7. Kitchen was well equipped too!
- Sánchez (8/5): Very good -
- Wing (7/5): Good - There was a breakfast provided, the decoration of the breakfast room was nice. There was a nice patio. I had some trouble understanding how the stated payment of US16.20 became Argentina pesos20,000. They used the highest exchange rate of the vendor (when in actuality they are buying because they are receiving payment) at ARP1224 when the daily rate was ARP1066.34 (screenshot with date). While there may be variations to ARP1066.34, it would not go as high as ARP1244.
This created a feeling of frustration and it was unpleasant to feel tricked somehow. I think Booking com should know what some of their hosts are doing. Often in the South American scene, a 'tax' is added, even though it was written 'Total payment'.
In addition, there were no socket outlets for recharging by the bed. The room was totally messy as more than half the occupants were their volunteer helpers. A cat came into the room and jumped onto my bed, startling me in the middle of the night.
- Cem (7/5): Good -
- Maria (9/5): Superb -
- Traveller (1/5): SCAM or not - They list the price in US dollars, but they don't accept US dollars. Only pesos.
Then, it can be showed in Argentina pesos. They list the price in US dollars, but they don't accept US dollars.
They don't even accept cards.
They only accept Argentine pesos, and the exchange rate is the unofficial rate(BLUE RATE).
It also applies the dollar selling rate.(highest rate)
I stayed many other accommodation in Argentina, but this is first time paying by unofficial rate.
- Milena (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly staff, clean bathrooms, nice garden with chairs to chill out
- Milena (9/5): Superb - Quiet hostel where people respect the night quiet hours so others travelers can sleep well and sleep (which is important for me). I loved the garden with sits outside to chillout. Very friendly staff. Clean bathrooms and kitchen. Breakfast consists of fresh bread, butter, jam, dulce de leche, coffee/tea. There have very lovely and cuddling cat Internet could be faster
- Josephine (9/5): Superb -
- Cristina (7/5): Good -
- Mette (7/5): Nice staff and breakfast, but private room overpriced for what it is - Friendly staff, good little breakfast and a nice 6x6m garden to sit and relax in. (Too bad they had not put up a no smoking sign). Bed was comfortable. I had booked a room with private toilet. There was.no such thing on the property. I was given a key to one of the shared toilets in the courtyard, which had been used by others all day and was dirty.
So at night in pouring down rain i had to go out and through the open courtyard to go to the toilet.
The wifi did not work.
The Price on booking was in dollars but to be paid in pesos - that is fine; however they used an Exchange rate that was 10 % higher that what you could Exchange the dollars for in town. So in reality i ended up paying 10% more than the booking price. I would say that compared to the other places I have stayed in Argentina/Chile the Price of the private room should have been only around 30 usd.
- Zahra (5/5): Passable -
- Justine (9/5): Superb -
- Luis (9/5): Superb - All great, staff, location, cleaness. Simple but tasty 3 different types of bread breakfast There're several street dogs and cats that sleep inside the house, sometimes on the beds. I had to wash the pillow case once
- Renana (8/5): Very good - Very pretty, nice vibe A cat entered into our room in the middle of the night and slept in our bed. There was no one to help us. We didn't sleep well.
- Eloise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rokas (10/5): Exceptional -
(8/5): Very good - The team was truly wonderful, very cheery and happy to help, the breakfast was nice and well put and overall great value for the price
- Liz (8/5): A peaceful little hostel 10 mins walk from central Humahuaca - Quiet location, nice garden, comfortable bed and friendly staff. The room was very hot at night even with the window open, there’s no A/C, it was manageable but perhaps in the height of summer they could provide a fan.
- Nathan (10/5): Exceptional - Nice little hostel. Very clean. Plenty of hot water in the shower. Excellent fresh bread and coffee at breakfast.. Friendly staff. Recommended.
- Martin (9/5): Superb -
