Guest Reviews
- Bridget (9/5): Perfect city escape - Perfect place to stay, close to the town, museums, the walls and the Albion pub which is a gem with excellent well priced food
- Ian (8/5): Enjoyable stay at the property. Excellent location in the centre of Chester for city sights. - Clear instructions and easy process to access keys
- Doug (6/5): Reasonable stay in a fantastic location - love Chester. - Great location Perhaps not specific to property but was cold. Also seating in sitting area a little uncomfortable.
- Prisca.E (7/5): -
- Hinton (4/5): - Great location, do handy to walk into the town. The real fire was a lovely touch but you need to take your own wood and the beds were very comfy It was not very warm and the hot water in the bath/ sinks only lasted for a short time. The shower was very weak and was either too hot or too cold. It was very un clean in areas and on the last day when I moved my daughters bed to see if she had dropped anything I found an old condom packet
- Catherine (9/5): - It was a lovely cottage very close to centre .... car park a 2 min walk (if that)
- Ellen (9/5): Amazing location! Would stay here again :) - Absolutely amazing location! City walls at the bottom of the road and a 5 min stroll into town. It wasn’t filthy by any means but could use a little bit of a spruce. As a germaphobe though, I would still stay here again :)
- Kiera (7/5): -
- Rod (8/5): Great location for restaurants & attractions - Lots of character with some modern twists. Great location
- Michelle (10/5): Great place! Great location! Very comfy and cosy! - I loved the location and I particularly loved that there was a working open fire in the property
- Thiffany (10/5): -
- margaret (7/5): Great location but.... - The location was great, central to Chester. Everything in walking distance. The area was quiet in the evening. As said in previous reviews the house needs a deep clean. Not just the main kitchen/bathroom area. Mirrors were dirty, light fittings etc. This has an impact on first impressions. Feel that the property could benefit from being freshened up with a lick of paint.
- sandra (10/5): Great location and very reasonably priced. - Brilliant, central location. Very quiet neighbourhood. Spotlessly clean house with everything you would need for your stay.
- Saraj (8/5): - Great central location.
- Gerard (8/5): -
- Lee (6/5): The perfect location - Great location Interior could have been better
- Elen (10/5): Paz ☮️ - I liked every detail of the house, the house was perfect, it had everything I needed, I highly recommend it.
- Alison (7/5): Perfect location. Sweet cottage- lovely experience. - Fantastic location- just soooo good! Sweet garden. Pretty cottage in an atmospheric homely road. Nicely organised and decorated cottage- we were delighted on entering. Glad the tv worked properly, plenty of smoke alarms and cottage felt safe and cosy. Such a lovely little cottage- really was very nice indeed. Beds smelt of other people- did not smell clean. Just like it had been smoothed over from guests before. Found black hairs in bed. Duvet was far too thin for winter and looked old and had hairs embedded in the fibres. Got rid of it on the floor so had to have heating on at night (we don’t at home) had to wash and dry sheets the next day which took ages and needlessly cost money. Our son said there were “bits in his bed” Cooker was grimy in cracks at front. Chairs were stained in kitchen as were cupboards with coffee and dirt drips- felt tacky to the touch.
- Barry (8/5): Great for a few nights stay. - Great Location. Good size for 2 people. Could have done with a more modern TV for a few nights stay
- Ecem (8/5): Very good -
- Kieran (9/5): Very nice. - There was only some breakfast cereal, a pack of pasta, condiments etc. Nice basket of coffee, biscuits etc though.
The location is excellent.. only minutes from the main streets and very close to the beutiful river. Some real milk in the fridge, and bread and butter would have been nice.
- Philip (7/5): Good - Location Bit "tired"
Heating not great downstairs
Needs larger tv in lounge
In need of "deep clean"
- David (8/5): Very good - Loved the location, everything close by. Lovely little yard.Bed very comfortable. It could do with upgrading abit.3forks,cupboard dishes mixed in different cupboards. Walls marked and cobwebs everywhere..the skirting boards really dusty and bathroom taps were not cleaned as lot of dirt built up behind them..floors needed cleaning..cooker glass was very dirty .we went there to relax and did after cleaning few things first.
- Alison (10/5): We will be back, smashing cottage for a trip to Chester - Location super central, all our needs catered for. Lovely and clean and warm Nothing
- Anthony (7/5): Apart from the single bed and pillows it was a pleasant stay. - We ate out and not at the property.
Property is a sort walk from the city centre and less than a 10 minute taxi ride from the railway station. The single bed in the bedroom was a bit small, some of the pillows were uncomfortable.
- Hannah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phuthon (10/5): Very nice , clean and the host very good communication - Very good location and convenient to the city center
- Noreen (8/5): Fabulous location , house could do with a refurb - Loved the location and the courtyard to sit in , fab plants This property needs bringing into the 21st Century , it’s a mish mash of different things , nothing matches , like stepping back in time
- Louise (9/5): Great little place - Lovely place in great location
Great communication with owners prior to stay. I would recommend and would use this cottage again without hesitation Wine glasses in kitchen cupboard were not clean - this put me off using or even looking at any of the other things provided in the kitchen.
- Tone (8/5): Very good -
- Harry (10/5): Perfect place to stay for a weekend away, excellent location - Location was brilliant, check in was easy, had everything we needed Nothing
- Jacqui (2/5): UNCLEAN, USELESS SHOWER, DON'T BOTHER. - No. 7 Albion Street: The location - as per other reviews, close to town. Anything else even remotely positive about this place, was completely negated by the commentary and experience below. This property is managed by Hygge Homes property managers, not the owners. The owners are GREEDY AND SELFISH and do not care about getting a bad review, so here it is.
The property manager was INSULTING and made some inaccurate and personal assumptions- rude and disrespectful – unable to make decisions and was "sorry that I felt that way” about the issues below. An aplogy that's not an apology
SHOWER IS USELESS with next to no water pressure. This is because it’s a cheap electric unit, which should be replaced. If you have hair that you need to wash, forget it. You’ll never get the shampoo out.
Further water trickles out and is either scalding hot or freezing cold – you’ll spend ages trying to get it to a temperature which will allow you to get in and you’ll waste a lot of water in the process. It was clear that no one associated with this property had actually experienced it. I raised this, I was told ”We have checked the property and the shower works fine” It does not.
DIRTY: Parts of this house were disgusting in their lack of cleanliness, see the photos, I had to clean the inside of fridge bin before put food in it. I left the rest to show the PM, they’d offer to come in and clean up, they did not.
The place needs a damn good deep clean-includes moving units and dusting behind them. It looked like the cleaners had done the minimum since the previous guest and completely ommitted kitchen equipment, cups which had stains in and the other filthy articles and surfaces you see in the photos.
When I made the complaint, they gave me the 45GBP for the clean post departure. Nowhere near enough given my experience. I paid GBP 150 P/night
PARKING PERMIT DOES NOT EXIST:The description says “you may be able to get a residents car parking permit” A complete lie. After raising this the PM sent an email hoping that “things could be sorted out as a negative review can impact considerably"A few chocolates and coffee pods do not a good stay make.
- Jeffrey (9/5): Wanted to extend stay but property was already prebooked. - Location was excellent near the city walls and very close to the river. Arrived slightly early and found the owner was checking the property so they explained the lock box for the keys which was fortunate as no e-mail from booking.com received giving instructions. They also generously provided a parking permit for outside the property. Property was in excellent condition with all amenities anyone could require. The drying facility on the washing machine did not work.
- Mark (8/5): Perfect for what we needed - Location, perfect, 5 minute walk right into the heart of Chester. Nice little welcome pack. Nothing really, if I was being picky maybe a bigger more modern tv maybe
- Frankie (7/5): Good -
- Ian (8/5): Great location, lovely city & ideal for weekend break - Location Bit tired in places
- Lara (9/5): Superb - Excellent lication. Nice and quiet and really close to walls and town. Easy check in. Key box worked well. Nice welcoming touches of tea and coffee etc available. Clear info. Comfy beds. Clean bedrooms and bathroom. Kitchen needed a quick wipe down but was easy to do as plenty of cloths etc available. Car park at the end of the road worked well. 10 minute drop off zone had plenty of space.
- Ali (8/5): Really lovely house, great location, brilliant communication from the hosts. - Amazing location, great public car park at the end of the little street.
Very clean with lots of lovely added touches, some welcome treats, the open fire, the blankets.
Great communication and recommendations for coffee and food nearby. It’s an older building so slightly drafty. The light to the bathroom lit up both upstairs bedrooms due to the glass panels but it didn’t seem to wake up our little one!
TV was quite small compared to what we had expected and the Netflix logged itself out but we managed to log in to our own.
- Connor (10/5): Very lovely cottage in a very good location! - The location was really good, a lovely pub right over the road and plenty of other pubs, bars and shops right around the corner. Only a short walk to the rail station and bus links too making visits to the zoo/aquarium easy and a lot of roman history stuff all around. Very ideal location! The house was lovely and cozy and had everything we needed for the week. Very comfy and big bed! Sofa was a little small but there is also a comfy chair so it wasnt too much of an issue!
- Caron (10/5): The property was very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. - Breakfast was not included, the location was 2 mins walk to all the main bars and shops Possibly a small sofa bed, so they could accommodate more than 3 people
- Shaun (10/5): Lovely welcome basket/perfect location and great pub 10 yards away!! - Great location - perfect base to explore Chester!! N/A!
- Lickley (10/5): Exceptional - Brilliant location, comfortable and very clean. No complaints.
- Odiawa (8/5): The owners are very helpful, and respond to your requests promptly. - It is in the middle of town, literally in the city center. Walking distance to anything you need, Off the wall (a great pub to hangout), Tesco express is 4mins walk; a brilliant location I must say.
