Guest Reviews
A l’arribada no hi havia ningú per rebre’ns, cap atenció ni organització. Tot era caòtic, incòmode i desagradable. Sens dubte, el pitjor hotel on he estat mai. Estalvieu-vos la mala experiència i no hi poseu un peu.
- Samantha (9/5): What a view! This hidden gem was so beautiful. - Julia the host is so incredibly warm and welcoming and we really enjoyed our stay. Rooms were comfortable and the amenities offered were great. The location requires a 4X4 to get up the dirt road, we utilized moto taxis to get to and from our spot which worked well. The town around was lovely and we explored nearby beaches and waterfalls. Highly recommend! 😊
- Erwin (9/5): Relax, meditate and chill - The location is beautiful with a perfect view if you just want to relax in the nature. We booked the private cabin where we had a great hammock to chill in together, you can shower outside in the nature and also we had lots of space! We took the diner which was okay, but expensive for what we received. You can also do hikes from the stay.
The personnel was friendly and the massage we booked was so good with a beautiful view as well on the terrace!
One door couldn’t be locked, but we still felt safe but it would be better to fix that so your stuff is more safe.
- Mounir (8/5): Spectaculair view, stunning! Couldn't sleep due to lack of sound protection. Food is expensive. - The view was absolutely amazing and I love the tree house vibe (although more safety protection is needed). Location is great. The room's had no sound protection, causing me to hear literally everything in the other room including very heavy snoring. Had to use noise canceling headphones and still couldn't sleep. On top of that the food was extremely overpriced. More than double compared to any other accommodation in the area of the same or higher standard, while the quality and quantity of the food wasn't good or special.
- Ekaterina (10/5): Exceptional - I was one of the best place I’ve ever been! The place is surrounded by jangles and has really calming atmosphere ❤️ The view is amazing! And you don’t feel hot at all because of the fresh wind and shadows from the trees.
- Tennis (10/5): Exceptional - This place is jaw-droppingly beautiful! When you first arrive you can hardly believe your eyes - it's like a scene from Avatar - you feel like you're floating over jungle mountains. The house is beautiful wood, the room is super comfy with a sunrise view that will blow you away, and the staff is really friendly and accomodating. If you get a chance to interact with the owner Julia, she's a ray of sunshine!
It's one of the most magical peaceful places i've ever stayed, period. You gotta experience it!
- Fernando (3/5): Left feeling disappointed that we had wasted such a special occasion at this location. - The hammock We travelled from Barranquilla to spend a long mid week break in the Sierra. This night had been booked by my partner as part of the celebration of my 50th birthday. We arrived at the front gate of the property at 4pm. There was no cell reception and no bell that we could use to advise our arrival. We waited for 20 minutes, yelling outside, until we managed to capture a staff member’s attention and they came to open the front gate. We were told that it was too late to arrange dinner and instead we had to order junk food to eat from the local tienda, which cost $20K in delivery, a charge we were only informed of when the items reordered arrived at the property 90 minutes later.
We thought that we would be housed in a private bungalow. Instead we were housed in a room above the common kitchen area, and with walls to our next door neighbour which were paper thin. We could hear everyone, and everyone could hear us!
At breakfast we were served a very basic and small meal of eggs and arepas, with no juice and no milk for our coffee. The fact that we had to pay an additional 80K for this service felt like an insult. A handyman was also spraying for insects using chemicals underneath the terrace while we ate!
None of the staff enquired as to whether we had enjoyed our night. Nor did they ask where we might be headed next on our trip. It felt very inhospitable. We were handed keys to let ourself out the front gate. There were no one other guests at the property at the time of our departure and I am not sure why were not even shown the basis courtesy of being escorted to the front of the property with our bags.
I am also not sure if Julia (the property owner) is living closely or overseas. The person who attended us at her representative on this trip was not unpleasant, but nor did she rise to the occasion to be a courteous host either!
All-in-all we felt quite cheated out of this experience, which we determined to be dramatically overpriced for what we experienced.
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (8/5): Very good -
- Felipe (8/5): A wonderful place that benefits from being hard to reach. A bit overpriced but the view is incredibl - A cozy place with excellent views and vibes that does exactly what I wanted: get away from it all while still being reasonably accessible to nearby services. I greatly enjoyed the weather (while it was good) and you can see many beautiful birds and butterflies if you have an eye for it. The staff Eli and Luis were fantastic, and Eli in particular went the extra mile to make sure we were having a good time. Traveling up and down to the place by motorcycle is not my favorite way to get around, I opted to walk whenever I could instead. Fortunately if you're modestly fit you should have no trouble with this. It is definitely not for those with impaired mobility.
This place is lacking a few touches to really be excellent. If it's raining, there really isn't anything to do there or nearby. The bathroom could do with an extra place to hang the towels, the bedroom an extra shelf or so, and some kind of solution for when it rains and is windy at the same time, our bed even got wet. These are minor gripes however.
- Thibaut (9/5): Peaceful - The view was absolutely incredible.
You're surrounded by nature, with only the sounds of birds to disturb your peace.
The place was clean and had everything we needed
The location was great, halfway between Palomino and the Tayrona National Park entrance.
A big thank you to Julia and especially to Eli for their kindness and availibility. Eli also cooks delicious meals! A better knowledge from staff of the activities to do around the place (Tayrona, restaurants,...) and the prices would have been a plus.
The transportation to/from their place is expensive, around 200 000 pesos from the airport. When you first arrive it is convinient but on your way back I would suggest to take the bus to Santa Marta and then a taxi. We only paid 70 000 pesos for 2 persons.
To go to Ahimsa from down the street you can walk up (about 25min and not that hard) or take a moto taxi (10 000 pesos).
The bus to Palomino costs between 4 000 and 5 000 pesos and to Tayrona 6 000 pesos.
- Stambolis (10/5): Most amazing location, fantastic staff. Everyone was so welcoming, anything you needed. Great breakfast! Stunning views. - Amazing ambiance!
- Ayla (7/5): We loved the views and the experience but I would not go back, also wouldn’t recommend because of the difficulties with - The location was gorgeous. The cabin is located all the way up on a hill. In the message I received before our stay mentioned a number we could call for a private chauffeur who suppose to bring us up/down. Unfortunately in the village down the hill, Linderos. There was no reception and no other way to go up. So we had to walk uphill 30 min in the dark after hiking for 6 hours in tayrona parque. Also when we arrived one of the beds was full of dead bugs. When we ordered food the day of our arrival we were charged 50 euros for some dry rice/chicken and a fish with small salad. After reaching out to the owner she told us we should be happy we got food at all, because we should’ve let her know upfront. If I knew the quality of the food would depend on that and we had to pay the same amount for this sad dinner I would’ve not even ordered. All these problems were discussed with the owner but in my opinion we didn’t get a positive reply, it felt like she was convinced we had bad intentions.
- Andrea (9/5): Superb - Amazing views, beautiful place to stay and relax. Wonderful hosts that go above and beyond. The mattress of the main bungalow needs to be updated to have a good sleeping experience. Back hurts.
- Laura (7/5): Good - Te view is amazing. There is a cleaning lady but she never cleaned the room although they said she would. They charged us COP120.000 for regular meal with extra protein. I think that is too expensive for the area and the food. Beware of anything you buy there because the prices for food in the hotel are extremely high.
- Jose (10/5): Mermerizing stay in the middle of the jugle - Julia’s property is a mesmerizing paradise in the middle of the jungle. The place is warming and very welcoming. The sounds of the jungle and the view from the vast ocean are breath-taking.
The room was absolutely comfortable and the decorations mix local habdcrafts and modern taste. Wish I could have stayed for longer!!!
- Andres (10/5): Peaceful and lovely sea and mountain view cabin - I love the beautiful view to the sea and mountains. It’s a very peaceful and calm place! I wend with my girlfriend and we had awesome adventures at the mountain, beach, waterfalls!
The decor and room was very cute, and very cool yoga deck, and had delicious breakfast and massages at the sunset!
This is the ideal place if you want to get to know the Tayrona’s area, having a peaceful and lovely place to rest! Very recommended!
- Carlo (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - This place is just out of this world. From the minute you arrive the view is breathtaking, it's so calm, relaxing and just amazing. All the information you receive before arriving is extremely useful and Eli is so kind, friendly and welcoming. I wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy the space more. The internet is also brilliant when you consider you are in the middle of the jungle it's a plus. That I didn't have more time to stay longer.
- Edi (9/5): Amazing views and lots of birds!!!! - The views were stunning. We enjoyed sitting on the wooden platform and watching the sunrise and many birds on the trees.
The cacao tour is also very good and in walkable distance from the property.
Breakfest very tasty.
Bed and hummacks comfortable.
Nice garden with hardworking gardener. Fridge was not clean.
Cooking lady was never on time to preper our breakfest, so forget about your breakfest at 8 am. Expect it after 9 am.
There is no sign at the gate with the name of the property.
- Aron (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful place. Great view. Drinkable tab water
- Suzanne (9/5): Gem of a location ,amazing views, peaceful and relaxing at one with nature - The location is superb with amazing views and peace and quiet to relax and just enjoy nature It is at the top of a long steep track but you can walk or get mototaxis so not a problem The breakfast was superb with added bonus of sitting listening to the birds and watching nature The rooms could have been cleaner with lots of dust on the floors and under the beds, hairs on bathroom floor and mirror and windows smeared For the price paid we would expect better
- Ben (9/5): Paraiso Ahimsa is an idyllic getaway for a couple, set in a unique and beautiful position in the jungle. We found Julia -
- Miguel (7/5): A total adventure - If you would like to have an adventure experience this is the place for you. You have a nice view and the installations are very exotic. The rooms are really nice, clean and comfortable. The place has a nice view. Be aware that getting to the hostel is not easy, the streets to go to the hostal are a mess, you either need to go by car or pay for a motorcycle to get up there, if you want to go out in the evening and get back is almost impossible for that lack of methods to go up back to the hostal. Power in the hostal is handled by solar panels, so in the evening there is no electricity or WiFi so I recommend you charge your phone during the day.
- Katie (10/5): A slice of paradise - Everything about this place is beautiful, from the views to the rooms, we loved every moment of our stay here. Julia was so lovely and made us feel so welcome as soon as we arrived. One of the most relaxing places we have stayed in Colombia. The perfect place to watch sunrise. 100% recommend!
- Angus (10/5): Exceptional - To call this place unique is an understatement. Perched on the sheer mountainside up among the tree tops, it's an incredible experience! And Julia the owner is so lovely and helpful. Amazing.
- Anna (10/5): It was amazing unique experience, the place is top, the host is the best, we had dream life - The view is amazing, clean place, friendly helpful host, quiet peaceful Not stable internet
- Meredith (10/5): We loved our stay at Paraiso Ahimsa. Waking up in that beautiful location was like a dream. I loved watching the sunrise - We loved our stay at Paraiso Ahimsa. Waking up in that beautiful location was like a dream. I loved watching the sunrise to the chorus of birds. I didn’t want to leave and definitely will return.
I loved the view, the architecture, the decor, the host, the location, the nature, the multiple decks, hammocks, everything! Bed was a little small and it would have been nice to have a fan stay on through the night.
- Luis (10/5): A unique experience in the world - We loved everything, magnificent welcome from the host, the place is indescribably beautiful, wonderful place in nature. The wooden cabins are incredible, one of the best experiences of our lives. Amazing location. A success for our vacations and being able to disconnect. We loved everything, everything was perfect in detail. Thanks
