Bright, light with a pleasant outlook and view towards the bay.. Extremely generous hospitality tray. Very quiet. Whole property warm and cosy. Excedlingly helpful, efficient and friendly staff. My body was aching

- James (9/5): - Food is excellent. Highly recommend booking for an evening meal, thoroughly delicious as was the cooked breakfast. Room was small but adequate for us, although there was no actual wardrobe or storage space for clothes but as we were there for only two nights it was no big deal. Would still highly recommend it.
- Christine (8/5): -
- Maureen (5/5): Wouldn't go back again - The food was ok The bedroom was small. The curtains were very thin and the rail wasn't long enough so there was a big gap at the side. The bathroom window was clear glass with no blind or curtains. The shower stopped running for no reason then started again. The bath towels were quite small.
- Clare (10/5): -

- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - The food is superb here the weather! nothing really, very professionally run
- Geoffrey (9/5): Superb - All meals taken were excellent
- Melanie (9/5): June in the Isle of Bute - A lovely large room and bathroom. Fabulous food in the restaurant and masses of choice. Even saw a roe deer in the cornfield from our window so lovely setting and restaurant obviously has an excellent name as it was always full. The goats cheese with a marmalade dressing was delicious. Nothing
- Dean (9/5): Good accommodation, dinner and breakfast - would very much recommend - Accommodation was very spacious, clean and excellent facilities
- Gary (2/5): Embarrassing subterfuge. - The meal. We had venison pie. It was beautifully cooked. One positive. The room we had booked nearly a year before was given to someone else. Excuse after excuse followed by "you will be lucky to find anywhere else", to booking.com were at fault, then excuse, then admitted, then a shrug. Couldn't stay a second night after this disingenuous behaviour.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Linda (7/5): A good place to stay in Bute. - Clean. Small. Friendly. Great food. No mirror to dry hair. Room could have done with a change around. More chairs and small tables. Shower tray filled up with water very quickly.
- Angela (10/5): Peaceful and memorable! - Breakfasts were provided on the basis of choice - a range of cereals, breads for toasting, yoghurt and spreads for toast. In addition, a cooked breakfast was available - it was always piping hot, tasty and well presented. The sausages in particular were excellent. We also liked the room where we stayed - an ensuite area in an annexe about 20 seconds from the hotel itself. It was well appointed, clean and comfy. The bed was very comfortable and tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc were available in the room. We overlooked a grassy field in which two horses roamed and saw deer on one occasion. Lovely! The bathroom was spacious and contained a bath and separate shower cublicle along with a washbasin and loo. The heating was also available when it was cold. There is nothing that can really be improved upon. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were grateful to the host for getting up early to ensure we had breakfast before catching an early ferry to the mainland. Overall, it was a special time for us as we quietly celebrated our Ruby Wedding anniversary.
- Dolan (10/5): Exceptional - Nice location, clean and comfortable, bonus food served, staff freindly Shower made a terrible noise, very irritable when showering
- Wil (7/5): Great location & helpful staff. Ideal for what I needed - Food was great. Love that they are completely dog friendly.
Staff friendly & helpful Curtains could have been a bit thicker! The room stayed very bright all night.
- Pamela (8/5): Very good - The restaurant was superb! Lovely dinner with local produce!
- Susan (10/5): Have a seafood platter - Perfectly placed. Beautiful views. Very friendly staff. Could not believe how busy it was in a wet Sunday night. The seafood platter was out of this world.
- Roger (10/5): Exceptional - Everything really ! My 2nd stay here ! Ticked every box for me .. A choice of two well kept real ales , excellent Food !
Clean and very nice hotel rooms , we were in a party of three , two cousins and myself ..one booked separately ..but the hotel were kind enough to reconfigure the accomodation so we stayed in the same area .
Great location
What's not to like ! N/A
- Colin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mccormack (9/5): Peaceful, comfortable and restful - Breakfast was perfect. Location was peaceful. Bed was very comfortable. Lovely friendly staff
- Stephen (8/5): Good stay, good food ,lovely staff just need to think - The breakfast was very well presented but rushed, we had not finished our cereals before our cooked food came and not just us everyone's were like this and on both days, the evening meals fantastic couldn't fault them really well cooked and very comfortable bed ,the staff were great overall good stay ,also make sure to book an evening meal no other pub/restaurant near by Could have done with a table or shelf and mirror so it's easier to dry and style your hair ,no placeto do this only fault in the room
- Marc (10/5): Exceptional - Location and very peaceful nights sleep. Excellent food.
- Bill (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joe (8/5): Very good -
- Brett (10/5): Fantastic Hotel & Restaurant - Great service, food and drink. The room was excellent and staff very accommodating, could not rate it higher.
- V (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great! Nothing.
- Gordon (9/5): We had a wonderful stay. We will come back! - The people were absolutely terrific. They set aside a table for my wife and I when a lot of local people arrived for dinner. They kept an eye out for us and took care of us all along the way. And the food was absolutely superb. We had the duck and the pork, and both were very memorable.
The location is absolutely beautiful. It is a short drive to long, remote beaches, the village of Kilchattan Bay, or St. Blane's Church. Nothing!
- Killick (5/5): Great location for a bike ride but not the best value for money. - Breakfast was very average. Not the best quality (food from restaurant was excellent though). We had to pay extra for good quality coffee. Not the best service in the morning. Staff could've been friendlier.
- Angela (9/5): loved my time here. - loved my stay nothing
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Viv (9/5): Superb - Patrons are friendly and helpful. The waiting staff are efficient and helpful.

Breakfast wholesome and very good choices. Meals were all excellent with such a wide choice, it was so nice to have freshly cooked food.
The area is beautiful very quiet and relaxing but with great walks from the hotel and local transport very good if you don’t want to drive.
I can not praise the hotel enough. Nothing it was all wonderful.
- Phyllis (9/5): Would stay any time. - Location, food, comfort All good
- コルニュファニー (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (9/5): Superb -
- Julia (10/5): Great beautiful Can’t wait to go again - Location fabulous. Staff friendly and helpful. Food wonderful. Dog friendly people and accommodation. Nothing, maybe weather but you can’t change that. A very long trip.
- Martyn (9/5): Superb - Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Nothing⁹⁹
- David (9/5): Excellent hotel with comfortable rooms and great food. - Kingarth Hotel was a great find, with a very comfortable and well-appointed room, excellent food - accommodating allergies without any issues - and very friendly and helpful staff. All of Bute of easily accessible, with Mount Stuart close by, and Rothesay a short drive away. Definitely recommended.
- Jeremy (8/5): Good food basic rooms - Staff were pleasant and breakfast was good, nice quiet location and welcome tray was comprehensive. We also had our evening meal in the hotel and it was very nice and food was good quality Rooms were rather basic and furniture was somewhat outdated, one of the beds creaked, and shower was weak. Taking these things into account price for the room was on the high side
- John (8/5): Very good -
- William (3/5): We personally would not use these facilities again, was - The bar was busy, tables reserved for dinners, hard to get a quiet seat for a drink on arrival.
Dinner was lovely and definitely the best part of our stay.
Room was very basic. Batth towels would of been good instead of hand towels.
Too many dogs, they were everywhere!
Coffee was coffee bags, no fresh coffee.
Poor cold breakfast selection.
- Gordon (8/5): We had a great time , food was excellent & the staff were brilliant. - Breakfast was excellent as was our evening meal. Location was superb Decor within room could have been better, however, I am sure this was reflected in the price.
- Marina (9/5): Would return to Kingarth Hotel!! - The bed and pillows were comfy. The food was great. Hosts were lovely. The room was so big that it lost a cozy feel. More choice would be good at breakfast such as fresh fruit.
- Tracey (8/5): Staff were excellent and went out of their way to help with any requests food was also very good quality and cooked to a - Perfect country location but close to a beach and other activities Limited wi fi
- Agnieszka (9/5): Superb - Nice staff, good, food, decent room Very weak WiFi which was constantly dropping
- Hugh (9/5): Peaceful and tranquil in middle of nowhere, brilliant - Printed menu ok but we both chose from the extensive specials board. Cooked to high standard. Only a minor criticism but inexperienced staff left us to our own devices to find our room out the back of the hotel. Got there eventually though.
- Karen (9/5): Superb -
- Groves (9/5): Great hotel. Friendly staff. Excellent food. Best place on the island. Can't wait to return. - Excellent
- Lyndsey (8/5): Great wee place and so dog friendly - It was friendly
- Atm (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely hotel. Exceptionally nice Staff. Very comfortable bed!
This is an excellent place to stay, if you are doing The West Island Way.
I am astonished that it's such a hidden gem. Nothing, really. I had no complaints.
- Andrew (10/5): Great choice - Excellent food!breakfast. Staff helpful and friendly. Nothing
- Karen (8/5): Very relaxing and perfect base to explore the island. - Perfect base for exploring the island. Great traditional cooked breakfast. Especially great if you are travelling with pets.
- Massimo (9/5): Superb -
- Heather (9/5): Superb - Beautiful location
- Brishearer (9/5): Superb - The room was great and the bathroom was tremendous 😊
- Mike (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (9/5): Had a lovely stay - Lovely host friendly and helpful. Great food location only minutes from the beach Quiet cosy and clean with good facilities
- Rachel (8/5): Would definitely recommend the Kingarth Hotel to anyone visiting Bute - Lovely staff and great hospitality.
Food is excellent and all meals are catered for should you wish. (The hotel has a restaurant and also serves customers who are not overnight guests.)
The southern tip of the island has a section of the West Island Way - a very scenic route always much enjoyed whenever we visit. Today we saw dolphins, gannets, a grey seal, a roe deer, and wildflowers all along the route.
The hotel is well-situated for this walk, the beach/bay, and the community of Kilchattan, and is also on the bus route. We were happy to have the twin room but the single beds were a bit creaky and the mattresses a tad thin; that said, we managed to get a reasonable night’s sleep.
- Eleanor (8/5): Very enjoyable would return - Relaxed atmosphere
Wonderful menu and good quality food Breakfast could do with a little refinement.
Cooked breakfast good quality but no fruit or nice breads
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (10/5): Perfection, loved everything about this hotel. - Location, hospitality and amazing food Nothing

It was spotless and comfortable. . The breakfast was lovely and we ate in the restaurant which was delicious.A really lovely accommodation in the stunning kilchattan bay area it was easy to find with ample parking and accessible for my mother who has mobility issues.
