- Botman (10/5): - L'ambiance, le charme, la gentillesse de l'hôte, le côté atypique ...bref petit paradis!
Petit bonus: si oar hasard il pleut c'est incroyable de prendre sa douche chaude dehors!
- Michael (10/5): SUPERB !!! - Everything - not least the bespoke hospitality
- Dahl (10/5): -
- Katie (7/5): - The space was very cozy and cute! The additional bits of snacks and food provided were great! The price felt a little bit high for what was offered. It was a lovely place but a bit farther out of town and very remote, so depending on what you’re hoping for this could be really great! But the price felt a bit too high compared to other places I’ve stayed.
- Rita (8/5): I really loved this accommodation and would recommend for a romantic few days away. - The choice of tea and fresh coffee, as well as meusli and home made condiments was good
The location was very private and quiet Fresh bread should have been supplied for the second morning - the baguettes solid and inedible after 2 days
I would have liked instructions how to use the coffee maker
The accommodation was hard to find and I would have struggled if I hadn’t had a lift - a long uphill walk from the main road

- sarah (10/5): Cute cosy tranquil and relaxing stay - Beautiful cabin with everything you could need and more. Loved the claw foot bath and outdoor shower amongst the trees and birdsong. Just perfect! Thanks for having us will be back again
- Jessie (10/5): - Fresh baguette, fruit, preserves and cereals were delicious and generously provided. Property was beautiful and unique. Wildlife right at the doorstep with more tuī than I have ever seen in the wild, kererū, bell birds and then morepork owls heard at night. Lovely sheep on the walk up the farm with spectacular views of the Harbour. Loved every bit of it.
- Vera (10/5): Awesome place to stay, lovely and peaceful, great bird life. - Loved the setting and outdoor shower!
- Lisa (10/5): Beautiful experience in a Cosy cottage - Absolutely beautiful surrounds with a gorgeous wee cabin. Large deep bath inside and outdoor shower with epic views of the trees and birdlife. Cosy, warm, clean with internet signal, books, cards, etc. This is a unique accommodation option so if you’re looking for a different experience where you can enjoy nature then I recommend this place. Great customer service with fresh baguette and home made jams. Easy walk from car park to cabin but a bit of a trek so keep this in mind if you’re taking a suitcase.
- Sarah (10/5): - Another wonderful stay thankyou
- Terran (10/5): - Beautiful spot natural ambience and a home from home. Lots of space and options sitting inside or out on deck and a lovely outdoor shower to experience nature whilst you’re most vulnerable
- Cameron (7/5): the birds coming to the feeder were magnificent - it snowed while we were there but we were not cold :) - beautiful setting - we saw tui and nz bell bird and kereru! be handy to have another method of cooking besides one hot plate maybe a microwave or small bbq?
- Deborah (8/5): If you enjoy nature, this would be a suitable place to stay, peace and quiet amongst the bush. - This little cabin was very close to shops, restaurants, and other amenities. It was very quiet I could hear a stream at the bottom of the hill, chickens and geese. The cabin was very cozy—comfortable armchairs and some quirky furniture.

- Timothy (10/5): Private and peaceful getaway in a little corner of native forest - Located in the trees, birdsong was incredible. Peaceful and relaxing and private. No biggie but we were missing 2 lights so it was quite dark once the sun went down. Overhead light and bedside lamp.
- Michael (10/5): idyllic. perfect for a relaxing time - It was awesome, couldn't expect anything better. Beautiful scenery and amazing vibes Some of the light bulbs need to be replaced, no Biggie
- Tania (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (10/5): Bird song - The bird life Nothing
- Timon (8/5): Maximum relaxation amongst the trees. - The location was perfect, and the hut is beautiful, tucked away amongst the trees and the birdlife. The bath and the outdoor shower amongst the trees, are so relaxing. It is easy to walk into town and there are various hikes directly from the house. With a car the entire peninsula and all the beaches are a little drive away. The owners are so lovely and have created a perfect little getaway.
- Barbara (8/5): Double room, cosy cabin - Location amongst forest and birds. Very tranquil. The shower is outdoors in the open which was lovely.
Nice bath with candles. Base of bath needs fixing up.
Walk from car to accommodation which was fine for us, but could get very muddy in rain

- Sharonne (10/5): Gorgeous, loved it!!! - Kanuka Retreat is a quirky and gorgeous cottage set amongst the trees. So peaceful and tranquil, a perfect place to simply relax and enjoy the birdsong. Close to Akaroa village.
- Clark (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was beautiful and fully equipped. Everything was beautiful and tidy. The location was great - it was close to the city centre but also secluded.
- Joanna (10/5): Exceptional - Full of character, great privacy, beautiful area. . Our favourite place We really enjoyed the rustic feel but don't go here if you like modern city living!
- Melandi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (10/5): Stunning location & property - The most gorgeous cabin with lots of thoughtful touches by the owners. The pictures on booking.com really don’t do it justice. We loved walking around the land up to the vineyard & to see the sheep. The location is idyllic, an absolute 5 star stay Nothing to fault at all just wished we stayed longer
- Jenny (10/5): A true retreat - We loved the setting - peaceful and private with only the sounds of the stream and the beautiful birdsong. A wonderful oasis to slow down and relax.
- Annabel (9/5): Superb -
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful location and great hosts - such a unique and cozy experience with a lot of thought employed into making it blend into beautiful surrounding and be a unique experience - we will be back !
- Frances (10/5): Be in nature - Great location, perfect place to disconnect. Really easy check in/check out. Some lovely coffee and baguette.
- Naomi (4/5): Maggots - The breakfast was nice, nice milk and jam and baguette! It was a beautiful property. The maggots.
It would have been nice to have been warned of the maggots. The owner did respond to our message about them (except the last one, though it was polite) but it seemed like they weren't surprised at all about them and didn't even offer to compensate us. Just because we're on a rural property doesn't mean we should have deal with maggots! We're fine with flies and moths and what have you, but maggots should not be part of the deal. Apparently rodents had died in the roof from poison and maggots were eating them and coming down into the house. We had to spend a good part of the morning cleaning them up off the floor and out of our clothes. A very disappointing ending to what would have been a beautiful stay.
- Abigail (4/5): If only there weren't maggots... - The hut itself was lovely, basic but what we expected with lovely thoughtful touches. Great breakfast provided, wonderful bird life and surroundings. The maggots that were under the pillow on the bed, and that continued to fall out of the ceiling and through the walls throughout our stay from a dead rat stuck above. We tried to make it work, rearranged the bed, but felt very uncomfortable and decided we couldn't sleep here and would need to vacate. The owners did offer to let us stay in their house nearby, which we are very thankful for, but it did ruin our one night away from the kids!
- Samuel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dana (10/5): Exceptional - Peter and Paula were excellent hosts, providing a warm and welcoming environment. Their property is truly remarkable, and the small cabin situated on the hill served as a peaceful and picturesque retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed observing the birds visiting the feeder and exploring the property, which offered breathtaking views. A short stroll down a designated pathway from the designated parking area. It is not a significant inconvenience.
- Dayle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (10/5): Beautiful peaceful cottage with everything you need for a special getaway. - Loved this beautiful remote cottage for a peaceful getaway in nature. So many great little touches and amenities made it very special for a couples retreat. Nothing!
