- Rizza (8/5): Hard to get transport -

- 322febddc6e97177f9ac6562bd1c62a7 (6/5): Might be ok in the summer but not equipped for cold weather. - The location was good (despite the steep road) and quiet. The rooms were spacious. We were really disappointed with this stay. The home was absolutely freezing on arrival and it took all night to warm up the space. I could not get comfortable or sleep well. We used the gas heaters, in addition to the heat pumps, on arrival, but did not want to leave them running overnight. The bathroom is downstairs so it was very daunting to get out of bed and go downstairs in the freezing cold during the night or brush your teeth in the morning. Moreover, the onsen was lukewarm at best (even when following the instructions to heat it up). The cups and mugs were plastic.
Note that my husband and I lived in old Japanese apartments for years so we are used to their quirks and shortcomings, but this was more than we could handle.
- JACOB (8/5): - Special place with a view and honsen
- Chi Kin (1/5): Bad - None I can't understand why the website recommended this hotel to guests. You only know about the hotel from the pictures; you have no idea what the actual condition is like. How can you recommend it to guests? This is problematic! The reason is that this hotel is simply unsuitable for guests. For example, when we drove to the hotel, it was raining. Our family was all in car, and even though we had winter tires , we slipped on the slope, which was extremely dangerous. The slope was steep and narrow, the parking space was too close to the hillside, and it was muddy. The mud got stuck in the wheels, and it took us almost 30 minutes to get the car out of the parking space. How can you recommend this hotel to guests? There's no internet on the phone! What if an accident happened? How could we call for help? I believe I don't need to elaborate further; these points are enough to disqualify recommending this hotel to friends or guests. Finally, I don't ask a refund of the rental fee. My complaint isn't about the money; it's about how terrible the hotel is. I really don't want anyone else to encounter such an accident!
Thank you
Mr LAM
- CHIEN HENG (9/5): -
- Samuel (10/5): Secluded, comfortable family stay with excellent personal onsen - It had a great onsen and was nice and quiet It is a little out of the way without a car
- Anthony (10/5): The house is an experience on it’s own - We had a wonderful stay at this villa. The property is truly magical on its own, with a beautiful interior design that made us feel like we were staying in a James Bond movie mansion. It is very spacious, incredibly comfortable, and equipped with everything you could wish for, truly a gem.
We also enjoyed the private onsen, which was an unforgettable experience, and appreciated the various heating options that kept us perfectly warm throughout our stay. One thing to note: the villa is located about a 10-minute walk up a very steep hill, so be prepared for a workout on the way up.
Another great advantage is that the villa is located right next to a bus stop, making it very convenient to visit the Hakone Open-Air Museum, Lake Ashi, and Gora village to take the ropeway up the mountain.
- Jera (10/5): - This was exactly the place I was looking for. Easy to use, reliable instructions.
- Bogdan (10/5): A very relaxing stay in Hakone. - The property is very well maintained and the host provided detailed explanations on how to use all the equipment in the house. The onsen bath was a highlight for us - absolutely incredible!
- Irina (10/5): Very cool place. Traditional house design & own hot springs in the mountains - Great
- Sallie (8/5): - Lovely to have a house to stay in, full facilities and they included some lovely touches like packets of soup. Beautiful outlook.
Handy to have a bus stop down the drive, but the driveway is very steep The onsen was incredibly hot and couldn't be used without cooling it down with cold water. Also, it could have done with a clean.
- Dylan (9/5): Quiet and spacious getaway - The property is quite spacious, the onsen down stairs was so hot and wonderful to soak in.
The tatami and futons were great to sleep on and the supplied amenities were a nice touch. Soup, tea and coffee provided. Very quiet during the day and evening. Not having a dryer to help with our washing.
We were given the option to hang it up outside but the outside of the building had so many large spiders we had to make do with hangers inside.
Going up the hill even in a car could be challenging if you’re not a skilled driver as the road is very steep and pretty much one way.
The parking spot is quite small, so take care if you have a low vehicle.
- Florent (10/5): -
- Baptiste (9/5): very nice. I wich I stayed longer - onsen and traditional room no taxi
- Therese (8/5): -
- Patrick (10/5): A lovely base to explore Hakone - Nature, views, equipped for children, onsen
- Nikitkax (10/5): Greate place with private onsen ❤️ - The house is perfect, private onsen, birds singing, everything spotless clean, coffee, tea, even soup bar and a great welcome present. The rooms are great, the bar and kitchen equipped Perfectu, instruction for everything, washing machine with detergents...it's the best place I have stayed in in Japan. Perfect for families and friends.
Just remember that from the bus the climb is a good workout, specially with luggage. We didn't mind and the information about this has been given - we just didn't expect it to be so steep ;) There is parking if you are by car. In winter it's probably not doable both by feet or by normal car ... buy we had great spring time. Thank you ❤️ Totally nothing
- Andy (8/5): A nice break from the hustle, bustle and crowds in Osaka, Tokyo and Kyoto. - Loved the onset (and if we had a car) the location. Was nice to have some space to ourselves. It is up a large hill, so make sure you hire a car and have your international driving license.
- Halcomb (8/5): Very good - Home was spacious and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Check-in was easy. Instructions and information regarding home appliances were helpful. The property description did mention a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, but travelers should be advised the walk is completely UPHILL. Thankfully we are healthy and able-bodied, but this walk would have been very difficult for some travelers.
- Jiadong (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (10/5): Exceptional - Very honored to be able to stay in a traditional Japanese home. Quiet and serenity surrounding. You can see the sunrise from the living room. Cleanliness was spotless, digital tv channels were good, kitchen was fully functional. Space was good for big family like ours of 6 pax. Bedroom were all spacious. Very generous with the refreshments. Onsen was traditional and natural.
We had a rental car, so amenities was easy and all within 10-20mins drive, including cable car station and Lake Ashi.
Our car window was not fully closed and we didn’t realized until there’s actually an estate manager that goes around in case you need something. That’s quite assuring for us.
