- Ronnie (10/5): - Everything A bit hard to find road signs where non extant
- Rachel (10/5): A peaceful country cottage in an idyllic setting with beautiful stylish interiors and plenty of space. - Beautifully furnished and idyllic setting. Very comfortable with 2 bathrooms and bedrooms and even a dressing room! The high chairs at the table were stylish but weren’t so comfortable or easy for smaller kids to use.

- Bang Sheng (9/5): - We love to see the cows, lambs and horse in the farm. Also there is an amazing sea view from the deck. We like the swing chair outside it feels very comfortable. The dryer needs a bit of cleaning.
- Anand (10/5): - Amazing cottage with a beautiful view. Kids enjoyed playing with farm animals. Wayne was kind enough to bring his pets & let them play with my kids.
Highly recommended. My family is looking forward to come back for this stay again.
Best wishes to Wayne & his family. Nothing.
- Wayne (10/5): Kereru Cottage - magnificent - Lovely cottage in a beautiful rural setting with rural, coastal and mountain views.
Well appointed and spacious.
Washing machine and dryer available.
Hosts were fantastic.
We would have liked to stay for a week! Not a complaint but just be aware that the property is quite a way out of town with a little bit of dirt road which may bother some but the views and quiet make up for that.
Just bring your supplies and enjoy the ambience!

- Becci (10/5): - Stunning property. Excellent quality of the cottage. Very considerate hosts who started the wood burning heater for us so the cottage was toasty warm on our arrival. Amazing selection of teas and coffees which we really appreciated.
- RAN (10/5): See u next time in Kaikoura. - The experience is far beyond our expectations. The view is so worthy to pay a visit. The house is well decorated and the bedding is so soft. The host is so warm-hearted. Thank you for arranging everything.
- Verity (10/5): We had a delightful stay at this cottage, the host did everything he could to make us feel comfortable and we loved the - The location, the privacy, the rural environment, the cottage, the bath, the view and animals
- Shannon (10/5): Worth every mile - Cozy blissness! Fantastic set up! Views are incredible!
Really relaxing vibe! Art work is beautiful. Home away from home. Easy to find, accessible, safe.
- Grace (9/5): Stay was perfect for my family of 4 and felt like we were in the wops even though only short distance to town. - Beautiful cottage with lovely roaring fire to keep warm, beds were comfortable and nice claw bath to relax
- Suzanne (9/5): Superb -
- Pratham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beto (10/5): An amazing staying! - The cottage is amazing. We stayed for one night and manage to enjoy stargazing and also watch the sunrise in the following day. N/A
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional cottage, highly recommended - Loved everything about the cottage. Fantastic facilities, very comfortable beds and all items you could need were thought of. Beautiful location just out of town and view was superb. Nothing
- Philip (10/5): High end, excellent value, fully equipped, wonderful views, thoroughly enjoyed our stay - Everything, beautifully kept cottage with fabulous views Nothing
- Christian (10/5): Wonderful, quiet with a fantastic outlook. - The wonderful outlook and it was very quiet. Best cottage we had in NZ. Nothing
- Gillian (9/5): Brilliant Stay - The property was a little further out of Kaikoura than we expected but the cottage was very well-appointed and had amazing views. We were very comfortable for our two-night stay and we would definitely stay again. The big bath was a nice touch and our English visitors both commented how big and luxurious it was. The cottage has been very well renovated with double glazing, a brand new kitchen with a huge oven and a lovely bathroom with excellent pressure in the shower and two toilets. The seating outside was great and the handing chairs were much admired. A lot of thought and care has gone into this place. We were sorry to miss the bunny rabbit.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Judit (10/5): Relaxing - We loved the location. The view of the Kaikōura Peninsula from the porch was beautiful.
The place is super quiet, only the friendly ducks made a noise when they arrived in the evening.
The owners thought of everything. There was even sandfly spray in the cupboard. The previous guests did not clean the BBQ properly. We used the oven instead.
- Robert (10/5): Perfect accommodation in an ideal spot away from the town. Lovely and quiet and close to walks for t - All good, breakfast items were more than Expected.
One of the best accommodations we had in our seven weeks in the antipodes.
- Aussies (10/5): Exceptional - Just AMAZING place. exactly what I was after. plenty of space to travel with friends and still have your own space. 2 toilets!!!! Views are just astonishing if wether permits. and settings were awesome. Even when storm hit it was so comfy to watch it unleash from the comfort of the suspended veranda chairs outside then inside. Very good furnitures too. It is just in another league from the motels etc. we had to stay at. We would have loved to get places like Kereru every night around the island. Must be noted that it is far from anything, so plan accordingly. Also there is about 7kms of gravel (unsealed) track to get there. So if you are on motor bikes it will be a challenge. Apart of that nothing major.
- Susan (10/5): Privacy, pastoral setting, glorious view to the sea, warmth of character but all the modern touches. - Loved the rural setting - nothing like watching cows grazing to relax. The view out to the sea was a nice surprise. Sat on the porch in the swing chairs til well after dark just admiring the view. The isolation and privacy we desired but a quick drive into town for everything else. Awesome job modernizing the old cottage to provide the luxury while retaining the character. Met our needs beautifully. Loved the restored clawfoot tub - a real beauty. Would be a bit chilly in cooler weather if not comfortable with wood stoves. Heating panels in bedrooms quite helpful but living/kitchen would require the stove.
- Colin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alan (10/5): Escape to Luxury - Beautifully Appointed. Super comfortable beds. Warm by the fireplace. A slice of luxury in Kaikoura Hinterland
- Kennedy (10/5): Lovely! -
- Kang (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lotus (10/5): One of the most beautiful places we could imagine staying in. - Incredibly private, beautiful location and views, easy access to hiking and the beach. Property was exceptionally well maintained and decorated and extremely comfortable. I wish we could have stayed for longer, we just absolutely loved it here.
- Taka (10/5): Superior. Would highly recommend! - Peaceful location, very quiet and super clean. You are in the middle of farm but can see the ocean, feeling the coo breeze from the mountain. Nothing. Wish we could stay there for the entire trip.
- Gillian (10/5): Cosy and so peaceful - Everything. The house was well set out, beautifully renovated and very clean and cosy.
- Jo (10/5): Would have loved to have stayed for more than one night - Beautifully presented, idiotic location with fantastic views. Very well furnished and excellent quality bedding, towels and toiletries. Communication with Wayne was very easy. Nothing
- Vicki (10/5): Loved it! - The cottage is 10 mins drive from Kaikoura in a quiet rural setting. It is very clean and well appointed with everything thing you need for a comfortable stay. There is a lovely view of the coast and cows in the field next door. Access was easy with a lock box and owner was quick to communicate. I would highly recommend this charming property. Nothing
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning location, with incredible views. The cottage was beautifully renovated, and we had a very comfortable stay.
- Mark (10/5): Perfect place to find rest and enjoy the surroundings. - Special Cottage. Every detail was correct. The cottage is modern, clean and comfortable. The view is amazing. We had a lovely stay. We could stay here for a week. -
- Sue (10/5): Best place to stay in kaikoura give it go. - we had lovely fresh eggs for our breakfast the view was so beautiful you could see the hole of Kaikoura, and the lights were beautiful at night Our daughter loved seeing the rabbits running around at the back door..
The beds were lovely and soft had a good night's sleep.
the showers were the best we have ever had while on holiday, a heap of hot water.
a very safe place for children to run around outside and have hours of fun.. have a look here first before booking anywhere else in Kaikoura I am sure you ill love it like we did.,We cant wait to come back. wouldn't change a thing.
- Valerie (10/5): we had a great weekend at Kereru Cottage and would highly recommend it for a tranquil getaway - The setting is amazing with fabulous view and total privacy.
They've thought of everything you could possibly want except a meat dish and we had brought a roast to cook!
Most people probably use the BBQ.
We had a great time catching up with friends. Unbeknownst to us the HOP car show was on which explained the high price.
It is usually reasonable.
Everything else was perfect except for our poor planning.
- Keita (10/5): "Perfect Family Getaway with Stunning Sea Views and Farm Fun" - We recently stayed at this wonderful farm house in Kairoura and couldn’t have been more pleased with our experience. The house itself is charming and well-maintained, providing a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the stunning sea view and the spacious farm yard, which made our trip truly special. We enjoyed putting firewood to the fire place, and making barbeque, taking full advantage of the fantastic outdoor space. Our kid was having so much fun in interacting with the friendly bunny, chickens and cows near the farm. It was a perfect family getaway, and I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Kairoura with family. I like the place a lot. However, the wall heaters in the bedrooms were not providing enough warmth during our stay in winter. Maybe the owners can consider better solution.
- Geoff (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet and private. Everything you needed. A handle by the toilet.
- Victoria (10/5): Stay at Kereru cottage - Lovely ambience and outlook. 5 star bedding and facilities. Super clean
- David (9/5): excellent - Would benefit from a coffee table, but the cottage was really very good and exceptionally clean.
- Will (8/5): A stunning property to stay at and it will only get better as it becomes more established. - The fire had been alight well before our arrival and the house was cosy warm.
Very well painted and good quality renovations to the property.
We enjoyed the style of furniture and decor.
The duvets were a great touch of character in the bed rooms.
The view over the Town was awesome for the morning sun rise and of the town lights at night.
A more than sensible amount of milk in the fridge on arrival.
Penny was very happy that the pet rabbit came to her for a cuddle.
The price we paid for the weekend stay at this property was a massive bargain and our family members are planning to book again around charismas/new year 2024/25 as they have extended family coming to stay and couldn't see anywhere better to stay in Kaikoura.
We really Enjoyed our stay at Kereru Cottage. Could not find any oven trays to cook in the oven.
There were only 3 forks in kitchen for a 4 person stay.
The tin opener was old and a struggle to use.
I felt that the bed side tables were very low and a stretch from the bed.
The TVs had no free view tv and the smart TV was difficult to operate especially with the writing worn off the remote controls !
It felt strange not having latches on the internal doors.
We can appreciate the financial investment and the top quality hard work put into this stunning recently renovated property.
- Dipendra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christoph (10/5): Recommendation - Very nice interior, good equipments, excellent exterior
- Gaye (10/5): Welcoming, warm, comfortable and peaceful - all the ingredients for a perfect place to relax. - Tranquil setting with a great view out to the ocean. A very homely place to stay. Everything we needed was there. Very friendly hosts. Nil
- Mel (9/5): Superb - Fantastic location with stunning views. Very quiet and only a quick drive to town if you do need anything. You could feel yourself unwind on arrival. Lots of space to park. .
- Iana (10/5): Exceptional - Views, fireplace, board games, good interior, big well equipped kitchen space
- Mike (10/5): Just awesome! - Fantastic lovely cottage everything was great! Nothing at all!
- Ciara (10/5): If we hadn’t been on a time restriction to meet with family I’d have booked more nights I was very impressed - It was spotless with fantastic facilities. Great shower pressure and an amazing kitchen. The ideal place to stay for a few day. The decor was modern farmhouse eclectic. Very Instagram worthy. Nothing
- Jennifer (10/5): A very enjoyable, comfortable and peaceful place to stay with the most wonderful views. - Fabulous property with lovely decor and very clean and well equipped , stunning views, very peaceful. Host very friendly. Would definitely recommend and come again. Everything was great , logburner for heat in the lounge but in winter months that may not be enough for the rest of the house.
- Tanya (10/5): Beautiful, stylish, comfortable cottage with amazing views. Highly recommended - We have been traveling NZ for around a month and we had most of our accommodation pre booked except where we were doing long drives. We booked Kereru Cottage last minute just for one night. It was one of the most beautiful places we stayed at and really wished we could have stayed longer. Communication with Wayne was great, he replied immediately, the cottage was beyond beautifully decorated and presented and a fire lit to await us. Bed was comfier than my own at home and the view was just fabulous. I couldn't recommend Kereru cottage more highly. Best stay ever. Thank you Wayne and Deka :) Nothing about this stay could have been better!
- Suzanne (10/5): The rural location is beautiful from the large lawn and garden to the sweeping views of Kaikoura township and sea. - Cosy and tranquil. Thoughtfully presented. Kitchen facilities excellent. A beautiful bathroom and very comfortable beds. N/A
- Kristie (7/5): Comfortable cosy accomodation - Comfortable accomodation, very neat & tidy.
Lovely fireplace with plenty of wood.
Pleasant views down towards Kaikōura Location was a little further out of town than we thought, along a dirt road
- Kristin (10/5): Pure Paradise - we enjoyed staying at this beautiful place. The cottage is absolutely beautiful, such a lovely location with these breathtaking views and surrounding sound of nature. The incredible interior design with clearly an eye for detail made it a real joy to stay. The beds were super comfy and me and my mum left fully relaxed. The cute cuddly bunny is an absolute bonus. I will definitely come back and recommend the cottage to friends and family.
- Elizabeth (10/5): A perfect location between rural and beach living!! - Everything!! We wish we could have stayed longer! Nothing!

- Martaqnc (10/5): Spectacular location, character and complete privacy - LOVED IT! - This is a great little quirky cottage in a spectacular location. Equipped with everything you might need on holidays. Wayne was a great host and gave us good tips on local activities. The cottage comes with a company of the cutest bunny called Willow. Morning pats and snuggles were THE BEST. If anyone is looking for a complete privacy, comfort and breathtaking views - Book Now - you won't be disappointed!! N/A
