Guest Reviews
- Elizna (9/5): - Janet was an extremely welcoming and accommodating host! I was at Collie Cottage for 10 days, staying on my own. The property location is truly superb - scenic, quiet and walking distance to the pristine hiking and walking trails Clarens has on offer. I felt safe as a woman alone. Janet's cats are also a welcome treat too, really loved having them visit the cottage during my stay.

- Peter (9/5): - Great place to unwind and explore Clarens from. Chairs and bed extremely comfortable. Loved the loft bedroom, just go up and down the stairs facing the same way. Not the best for home cooking. Fridge is a very awkward size (two shelves and bottom shelf you can't lie a steak flat due to compartments in the door). Only braai facilities I saw was a very small kettle braai. This is for noting rather than having been a problem whilst I was there. At this price point, you can afford to eat out more
- Hanti (9/5): Where nature is all around - Lounge chair overlooks spacious gardens with birds everywhere! Few metres from hiking trails at foot of the Berg in a quiet cul-de-sac, yet walking distance to restaurants and town Square
- Gabriella (9/5): Lovely stay - It Had what I needed for the week’s stay. Although I only did basic cooking there. It was a convenient location and beautiful. I felt safe and secure as a solo traveller. Janet was welcoming and helpful and responded promptly to the communications.
- Neo (10/5): -
- Amy-Jane (10/5): - Janet is a very kind host. The little touches in the cottage made it a very easy stay.
I am a solo traveler and I felt right at home.
- Melissa (8/5): Beautiful stay close to town - Lovely property with a beautiful garden.
Great outdoor seating area to braai and relax.
The accommodation is homely, tasteful, and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great night’s sleep.
The owner is kind, welcoming, and always pleasant to assist. A wonderful stay, highly recommended. Nothing
- Thapelo Daniel (9/5): - It was cool and peaceful For me everything was fine
- Afonso (8/5): Comfortable and cozy. - Cozy and beautiful little cottage. The shower was a tad tricky to get used to but fine if you keep it short and learn the balance.
- Michelle (6/5): I did enjoy the stay but won’t use it again mainly due to the shower that only allow for a super super short time of hot - The lodge was very cosy and had everything you would need for a short stay. Close to town, close to hiking trials and Janet is a great hostess. Nice fireplace, lovely view of the garden The stairs were super steep and quite a mission to get down especially at night if you half asleep to use the bathroom. The geyser system is not great only allow for about 3-4 minutes of hot water (not ideal for someone with long hair that need to be washed) not sure how this will work for a couple staying as I was alone., would need to wait for the water to heat up again for another short shower. The fridge is very small so will be good for a one night stay but not great for longer stay (I was there for a week)! I also do admit I was there to work and I understand that staff respect privacy but the unit was cleaned only once during my week stay ad I asked the lady to come back to clean so the amenities that is included in the price is not necessarily refilled daily such as wood for fireplace, rusks, etc.

- SIPHIWE (10/5): Excellent. Would definitely do it again - Owner has thought of everything we might need. And communication is perfect Door leading into the house from the unit
- Laura (6/5): Janet is a friendly host and the cottage has a lovely family feel. - Location is great - away from the hustle and bustle of Clarens but a quick walk in the daytime . Fireplace and heater made the place cosy. You will either love or hate the bed! Limited cooking facilities best suited for warming up takeaways.
- Krugel (7/5): Excellent, caring hostess - Not applicable Stairs to bedroom
- Linda (7/5): Good - The location is good. The apartment is away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to walk everywhere in town. Very nice and clean. The apartment is small with a very small fridge. The staircase to the bedroom is steep and definitely not for older people.
- Francois (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hughes (9/5): Superb -
- Margaret (7/5): Good -
- Mark (9/5): Great location in a beautiful town. Beautiful garden. Friendly host. Small but equipped unit. - Great location. I parked my car and only used it once in all the time I was there. Close to town and the hiking trails. Lovely garden. Friendly host. The unit was perfect for me, but I was alone. For me it was great, but others might struggle with the steep narrow stairs leading up to the bedroom. Others also might be surprised by no TV in the unit. Take your Tablet/Laptop if you want evening entertainment.
- Aileen (9/5): Absolutely beautiful views and a gorgeous quaint cottage I’d highly recommended staying here. - The location of the property is beautiful. The gardens are gorgeous and the views are stunning. The property is quaint and peaceful. The stairs to the bedroom are quite tight so it makes accessing the bedroom a little tricky.
- Renardus (10/5): Very cosy nice and neat accommodation with everything you need at hand. -
- Verozaa (8/5): Very good - The location was perfect and the host were great The plumbing and the shower
- Andrea (8/5): Comfortable for one night. - Location was perfect and not far from what we needed Small geyser, so showering was limited to a very little hot water and upstairs loft where the bed is, is close to roof beams so not bumping your head is a challenge and the stairs getting up was a challenge during the night when wanting to use the bathroom
- Soreta (8/5): Relaxing stay in Clarens - The gas heater. Nice garden and location Steep, narrow stairs to bedroom.
- Francois (10/5): Exceptional - Janet is a warm, caring and friendly hostess. All facilities were in good condition and operational. Very peaceful and tranquil location with the vibe of the tourist attractions within walking distance.
- Brinton (7/5): Good Stay - The location was quiet and peaceful. In close proximity to the town itself. Easy access to the highway leading to the different attractions. Very scenic. The host, Janet, was very welcoming and accommodating. The unit itself is a bit cramped even for 2 people sharing. Would only recommend for very short stays. We didn't enjoy the access door between the unit and the host's residence. The host has free access to the unit at any given time.
- Vic (9/5): Superb - Janet was most welcoming. The little touches she has added makes it feel like a home away from home. Unlike others, I couldn't come to grips with a bed with a mattress that wraps itself around you.
- Debra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna-marie (9/5): Superb - Absolutely loved the peaceful location, the comfortable bed and the lovely fireplace.
- Charel (8/5): Very pleasant - All fine
- Faye (9/5): Really great place to stay at. - great location, very comfortable bed. The fireplace is set for you to just light it up and keeps the place warm.
Rusks and milk provided. Very friendly host. Friendly dogs and cats. Has an extension cord if needed. N/A
- Niclaf (10/5): Ill definitely be back! so peaceful and cosy! - The little touches in the cottage. The fire place. The phenomenal mattress! The beautiful view
- Digipix (9/5): Superb -
- Rodica (9/5): Beautiful, cosy little cottage! -
- Lara (8/5): A welcoming home-away-from home. - Janet the host is really friendly and makes you feel right at home (as do her 2 dogs, cats and hen). It’s obvious she loves the place and has put a lot of thought into ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The bed is super comfie! She also gave great advice on where to eat and things to see and do. The steps leading up to the sleeping loft are steep and narrow so you need to tread very carefully when going up and down.
- Lerato (10/5): Great place, great location. Walking distance to the town center. - The host(Janet) called to give us directions to the place, she was very friendly and welcoming. Gave us privacy but made sure we knew she was always available to assist us. There's a gas stove and heater as well as lights in case of loadshedding, there's a pot outside for potjiekos and braai stuff. Amazing shower as well. I didn't mind the absence of a TV as I hardly ever watch, but for those who do just know there isn't one .
- Krystle (9/5): A lovely, neat little cottage close to town. Was a lovely stay. -
- Karabo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Spies (8/5): Beautiful just Beautiful. - Great host. Great area. All is goòod.
Best anniversary to date. Nope nothing to dislike.
- Jonelle (10/5): Exceptional - It was set in a beautiful location, close to everything and just outside of town. So it was very peaceful. Janet was lovely and very accommodating and helpful. The animals were a delight and super cute. We had a fantastic stay.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Lovely! - Perfect, cozy & clean place for my 2 nights stay in beautiful Clarens. Janet is a lovely host!
- Michelle (8/5): Awesome. Staff were very welcoming. - Good value for money, comfortable and clean Not that I can remember
- Le (10/5): Lovely stay at Collie Cottage - Our 5-day stay at Collie Cottage was exceptional. The small studio apartment is a luxurious retreat, complete with a well-appointed interior and access to a stunning garden under massive trees. The backdrop of the mountains adds tranquility. The host's warmth and hospitality made our visit even more special. Collie Cottage is ideal for a peaceful, rejuvenating getaway. Absolutely recommend! No complaints
