Guest Reviews
- Vass (8/5): - Raj and Jovin, the staff were super helpful and nice with everything we asked. The house is nice and rustic with real Kerala vibe. There are shops, ferry stops and a hospital close to the guest house. It’s in a quiet and calm part of the neighborhood - it is so much better to stay here, in the heart of the canals, than in Alleppey! You can explore the county by foot as well - the canals, rice fields, magical! The only issue was the lack of cleaniness - the bathroom, the kitchen, the fridge, walls, the rugs, etc.

- bhavana (10/5): - This house is in a beautiful location surrounded by village life. You can have local experiences away from the crowded places . After going back u cannot stop but remember how beautiful the place is
- Anonymous (10/5): Pleasant and peaceful stay - Property was wonderful. Pretty and beautiful view. Staff was warm and friendly. Very helpful.
- Indrajeet (9/5): Comfertable stay at cocozonestays - Had one of the nicest stays at this property. Host hospitality is second to none. The property is excellent and it has asthetic vibe to it.
- Abhishek (8/5): Cocozone Homestay - The owner, Jovin, helped us immensely like giving info on ferries, how to reach the homestay, places to visit, private boat ride, etc. His father, Jacob, and the cook, Tom, gave us all we needed and made us feel at home. The food they served was too good. The family room we booked was a little small for 4 people.
- Hemanth (4/5): Disappointing -
- Prasreen (7/5): Good -
- Gupta (7/5): Good taste of rural life far from the city. - Located a bit too far from the city. Go for it if you want to hv a taste of rural life with no or very less connectivity. The difficult part is no road till the property for about 250metres, so when you book it online keep a note of it and be ready with some muscles to lift your bags 😅 Also, it should be priced a bit cheaper for this reason as you get plenty of really cheap options in the city itself. However, the owner might be able to provide you a discount if possible.
The staff Shito was extremely helpful and sweet. The best part about him and the stay, is they arranged the shikara boat at our door step. So the extra travel that you make away from the city is balanced by the house boat at door step.
- Yash (10/5): Very scenic and calm stay - Awesome property with direct views of the back waters. , Jobi and Jovin are amazing hosts. The breakfast and dinner prepared by Jobi was fantastic!! It's a must stay property if one visits Alleppey. There's nothing we didn't like!
- Arun (10/5): Exceptional - Place was excellent the house was traditional vibes.
- Krishnakumar (10/5): Exceptional - Great home stay, very near to the backwaters, great and friendly staff, very responsive host/owner, has all the required amenities, very relaxing environment, would love to visit them again when we get a chance! Thank you! Nothing much to call out
- Genevieve (6/5): A base in the backwaters - Very kind attention from Sijo and Priya who really tried their best; nice cooking by them as well. good communication from Jovin. Interesting traditional building It’s probably best as a one night stay. We reduced our time. It is a base in the backwaters but other than using it for your activities it isn’t the sort of place to hang around or relax in; possibly not great with language barrier - but we all made it work
- Jane (10/5): Oasis - It was right on the backwater. Great views, so relaxing. Getting there does require you to walk the last 200 metres or call them and they’ll pick you up boat for that bit, if you come by vehicle.
It’s on the government boat (ferry) route to so you can catch a boat to and from town for 14 rupees, which is such a lovely relaxing journey.
The owner and particularly the hosts were so lovely and accommodating.
- Nishanth (8/5): Very good - It is nestled in a nice location where you get the feel of how life works with backwater around. The place has a nice antique look. Courteous staff. Mr and Mrs Sijo took very good care of us and accommodated most of our requests.
- Jacob (8/5): Overall a lovely property for a beautiful and calm holiday, recommend for groups to have some great private time! - The property is situated in a very scenic village in Allepy and a heritage house having an old world charm :) The staff was good and friendly but they can do a better job at maintaining the home stay better..
- Kaumudi (3/5): Disappointing - Great location.
The house is in traditional Kerala style and was beautiful to look at.
Kunjimohan, the caretaker was very helpful
The food (breakfast and dinner) was good.
Francis, who took us around in the boat was nice
The owner tried to be helpful, and even made our meal complimentary due to the issues we faced We checked out after one night due to many issues. We also felt that the cost was too high for the quality of the rooms.
In one room, the toilet flush was broken. We had to ask a few times to get it fixed.
Towels were not clean, generally rooms were dusty.
AC was not working properly (stopped working in the middle of the night), AC remotes were not working.
Internet was not working, had to ask them to get it fixed.
The power went off in the evening, and my father had to find out and show them how to fix it.
Mattress was thin in one room; in another room, it was covered in plastic and was not comfortable to sleep on.
Blankets and soap were not provided. We had to ask for everything.
Mosquito nets are only provided for 2 of the 4 rooms. Even in these rooms, mosquitoes managed to get into the net and the two people staying there got bitten a lot, and had to spend the night killing the mosquitoes.
No hot water for shower.
The owner was not on site - for all these problems we had to contact him by sms or phone call, which was tedious.
As the owner was not on site, he kept asking me to collect everyone's visa and passport information and send it by whatsapp. I am not on whatsapp, and had to send it via someone else. I did not appreciate having to do this (we were a group of 8), as it is normally done by the owner when checking in. I also did not feel comfortable sharing others' personal information via whatsapp.
- Damari (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vijay (8/5): Great stay with lovely staff. Would stay again! - We stayed at this lovely accommodation and thank you to t Jacob and Matthew for your kind support and help, always happy to help with advice. Rooms were slightly smaller than expected but the house is traditional p, wooden crafted near farm in back waters.
- Mathieu (9/5): Superb - Everything was really good, the location, the quality of the food, the rooms and the kindness of the people living or working there, giving advices for boating or visits.
Peacfull place
Note that there is no restaurant nearby. The food at cocozone is delicious but you need to pre-order in advance
Thanks again and long life to cocozone
- Christina (9/5): Highly recommend - I had a really nice stay at cocozone. The homecooked food is amazing and the rooms are comfortable and clean.
- Daisy (7/5): Lovely place to stay with lovely people! - Beautiful location right next to a river in a lovely local village - you really feel like you’re getting an authentic backwaters experience. Jovin, Mathew and Joseph were very welcoming and helped us settle in and find our feet. The food is absolutely delicious - we really missed Mathew’s cooking when we left! Lovely place to stay for a proper homestay experience. The beds are very hard and there wasn’t a mosquito net in our room so we had to wear a lot of bug spray when we went to sleep.
- Sumaraj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suresh (7/5): Good -
- Juby (10/5): A wonderful stay with awsome mouthwatering food, and awsome clean rooms with a perfect host to cater all ur customised r - The host and his availability for any support, Na
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional - Matthew (the property manager) was an incredibly attentive host, cooking us three amazing meals a day and picking us up/dropping us off in his boat whenever we needed to cross the river. Jovin (the owner’s son) was available on WhatsApp 24/7 to answer any request (as Matthew did not speak English) and went above and beyond to cater to our requests, organising kayaking, boat trips and taxis and even getting a friend to bring us beers and Suncream from town (as there was none in the are). While the location is beautiful and ideal to experience the backwaters (located right on the water), just be prepared that it is very rural and without many amenities (shops, pharmacies etc.) so come prepared with all the supplies you may need for you stay.
- Debasmita (10/5): A beautiful stay in the bank of backwaters - I loved everything about the property. It was very homely and beautiful, relaxing. Nothing as such
- Ashima (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kaiulani (10/5): The perfect backwater stay - Wonderful stay! Came here for 3 days and 2 nights with my boyfriend. Host was very helpful right from the start! The house is located in a tucked away canal so perfect if you’re looking for a place more local and quiet.
The room is a basic set up with private bathroom. Very clean and AC was perfect for after our day adventures. The house is right on the canal. So peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed sunset walk along the canal to see more of the village.
All the meals were homemade by the family and DELICIOUS. We enjoyed coffee and tea in the morning and at sunset as well with the family on the patio.
Host helped us coordinate a backwaters tour and taking the local state ferry into town. We were very well taken care of from start to finish.
I will definitely return here because of the hospitality and beautiful home
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb - The location was great and the staff also very helpful and polite. Had a great time there
- Ashnaj (10/5): Exceptional - It was a great stay. All the staff were amazing and we got a homely feeling there. It was a great experience to live in that peaceful atmosphere.
