Guest Reviews
- Michael (2/5): - He photos are misleading - one feels they are renting a beautiful retreat.
It isn’t.
The cottage is run down, with a large burn on the dining room table, holes in the sitting room ottoman, and a worn out couch that we all found incredibly uncomfortable. Lack of comfortable seating was the worst part of the stay - either one sits on the worn out couch, or the hard dining room table chairs.
The interior was filled with flies - they keep landing on our heads and food. The owner’s acknowledged the flies were an issue, but she said she can’t fix the issue as she doesn’t know where they are coming in from.
When we told the owner the toaster didn’t work, she assured me that it did. She said the problem was that the plug was broken, which supplied the electricity to the toaster. (Sorry for criticizing the toaster!)
Guest bathroom towels are dishtowels.
Getting to the dock is perilous. It’s accessed down a long exterior staircase. The railway ties that once made up the stairs have lifted and twisted over time to be become dozens of hazardous, raised tripping hazards. Getting down to the dock is not for the faint of heart.
Once at the dock, access to the dock is gained by climbing over the first dock section that is covered in logs and branches, and has been distorted to a 45 degree angle, making climbing over it treacherous to say the least.
There are a series of yurts and a trailer overlooking the property.
- Sean (2/5): - I was going to hold off reviewing this place until after things were solved with the property management. Apparently they are taking the stance of no refund despite the issues so here we go.
Do not expect the place to look like the pictures. This should be a no brainer but it was not even close.
Right off the bat we had an issue with the management. We booked it and called saying we were going to arrive while over an hour away. We were told we would be sent the information on how to enter right away. Great... kept driving and tried calling again. Told the same thing. Kept driving until 3 minutes away and called again and pulled over idling on the phone to the manager. She obviously did not care about what was going on as she was out in some kind of store and talking to other people while we were trying to find out how to access our rental. At one point she said "Youre still on the phone?" after ignoring us asking for the details. Finally we reiterated we were only a few mins away and she seemed to get it and sent the instructions along after we hung up... and were already o
There are e sets of french doors going out to the patio, only one worked, the other two had signs saying please do not open. Alright we had one way out i guess, no big deal. Then came the mechanism by which they closed, they didnt latch like a normal door, they needed two fairly large gauge steel bars to stay shut as the floor latch was rusted stuck and couldnt be forced down to keep the door in place.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Email sent after I requested info on checkin saying we were on our way-telling us we needed to bring towels.
Someone working on shower when we arrived and did not get it fixed.
Not enough amenities for number of people it says accommodates. Photos online must have been taken a few years ago-interior is well used.
