We honestly didn’t spend that long in the accommodation as we were within walking distance to the park and carried on walking onto the main Scarborough beach so were busy out and about. Very tired now as crammed lots into our time here but would definitely recommend and would come back. Great pricing as didn’t want to spend too much as we knew we were going to be busy seeing the sights so spending loads of money on fancy accommodation and facilities seemed pointless if unlikely to use them. We loved feeding the squirrels in Peasholm Park which is literally round the corner. Bring nuts. We spent several hours in the park and they would take them from you much to mine and the children’s delight. Lots to do in and around Scarborough and it’s only 10 minutes walking distance from the open air theatre. It’s a shame the parking spot directly in front of the Woodpecker isn’t reserved for the occupants as we had to park round the corner and had to be careful taking our stuff out on departure as another car (probably from the main hotel) was parked in the drive but it’s not a dealbreaker. There’s not a lot to dislike at all.
• Rebecca (10/5): Absolutely amazing - This place was absolutely amazing, spotlessly clean, very comfortable and in a perfect location couldnt fault anything and will definatly be returning! Lack of communication about check in, had to knock on the hotel its attached to to be let in as wasnt given a code for the key box, lovely gentleman
• Alexis (8/5): Lovely little place, clean and tidy, would definitely recommend. - Very quiet, clean and tidy, well presented. Slightly further from the beach than anticipated but that's our fault for not double checking proximity!
• Jan (8/5): Great stay, would recommend - Lovely set up, nice, clean and fresh Not that I didn’t like but would suggest a long mirror somewhere in the property and maybe some bedside tables, I would also change the room layout so the TV is in front of the settee as you can’t see the TV unless you sit sideways, but overall a great place and would definitely stay again :)
• SprinklesTheBear (10/5): June 2025 - I like the location and that it has everything that you need as a family with a child. It has all the toiletries, cooking and kitchen stuff that you need. Everything was clean and modern. The bedroom sizes as well as the beds were nice and comfortable. The location is also very ideal as you can just walk to the beach and it's literally near the park. Overall, we loved our stay. 🥰 I can highly recommend. It's more on what could be improved. A microwave would be a nice additional as well as a full body mirror. Also since we stayed there during warm season especially when it's summer, electric fans would be essential as it can get really warm even during night time and opening the back doors on the main room when sleeping doesn't feel so secure just to let the breeze in. Otherwise, we loved our stay and planned to return August but unfortunately, it was already fully booked.

• Danielle (9/5): Convenient stay in a lovely location - It is a cosy and convenient space. The shower is very good! Beds were comfortable. It’s in a lovely location. The duvet in one of the bedrooms had some green staining on it and was very thick for the time of year.

Very clean, great facilities and decor was lovely. Location was perfect and parking was easy. Had everything we needed for a mini break. We will be back, really pleased with our stay.

• Terry (5/5): Nice apartment needs TLC - The size and layout were fine, located by Peasholm park. Local shop and Italian takeaway to hand. We felt the owners had taken their eye off the ball. On entry, the floor was sticky, Mirror smeared. No welcome pack. However to be fair there were fresh flowers. In the kitchen my wife had to clean the cutlery drawer due to hair and dust. Microwave, coffee/tea maker absent. No tea towels or oven gloves. Cutlery and plates of various numbers, minimal kitchen utensils. 3 pans, one frying pan that looked as though it may have seen service at Dunkirk. The shower was good but the tray was dusty. We had to fix the bed in the far bedroom, since the slats were too the head and feet a big hole in the middle. No mattress protector, duvet stained, no bedside lockers either. The Patio is none existent, a table and two chairs shoved in a bit of space between next doors back door, a garage and your bedroom door. The heritage view? Sorry didn't find that. I feel a couple of hundred pounds spent by the owners would sort most of the above. If they modify their claims on the patio. WiFi was a pantomime, we found the unintelligible code stuck to a carrier bag in the kitchen drawer. We found the provider by searching the TV provider it took about 6 hours to get connected, once we deciphered the code. My Wife has rewritten the code and provider for future users. Parking? We Managed, The owners need to up their game a little, attention to detail and it would be worth the money.
• Heidi (8/5): Genuinely a lovely little bolthole and great for families at a fair price. - The property itself is very clean and simple. I’m a Nurse and someone that lives with long term health conditions, as a result I’m extremely picky and have high standards in terms of cleanliness and this property ticked the right boxes. We arrived early so we could make the most of our stay and was in the process of messaging the hosts to say we hope they didn’t mind but we had parked up early, and we were met by the hosts who very kindly offered for us to be able to enter early. It had been freshly mopped and there was tea, coffee and a jug of milk waiting for us. We were informed of the keysafe number and then left to it. This was so helpful and kind as we had our 2 children aged 9 and 13 travelling with us and being February it was very fresh outside. Towels left in swan shapes in both bedrooms added a nice touch. The property itself is right at the top entrance of Peasholm Park and it’s a lovely walk through, even nicer I’m sure in the Summer months. The parking is somewhat difficult at times and whilst the flat shared parking with the hotel next door I think it would be a nice touch if the driveway directly in front of the flat was reserved for those inhabiting the flat. I’m a disabled badge holder and also found that when the driveway was full with other guests cars (first come first served basis for parking) I had quite a walk from the car. The beds had extremely soft mattresses and whilst this can be a personal preference, a medium more solid mattress would usually suit most people. Some of the plates had clearly been used by past guests and not cleaned by them very well. Not the hosts fault at all, but would just recommend that all dinnerware is checked.

• Joanna (10/5): Fantastic stay - The property was in a great location, opposite Peasholme Park and a short walk to the beach. The host Hayley is lovely, check in & fitness seamless with a safekey box. The facilities are excellent, super comfy beds and there is a hotel next door where you can get breakfast. I would recommend The Woodpecker & will definitely stay again, it was perfect for the 4 of us. N/A

• Gayle (10/5): Very pleasant stay - The property was spotless when we arrived. There is plenty of space. The host had left tea,coffee and a small jug ofmilk in fridge. Towels were available although we had taken our own. There was everything needed. I will definately use again. There was no noise from adjoining Hotel or from the street.

• Helen (9/5): The Woodpecker - Lovely, compact appartment which was clean and obviously well looked after. The decoration/finish was beautifuly done and we felt comfortable and safe there. Although there wasn't a view the location was perfect for us, close to everything we wanted to do for the few days we visited. Although we didn't meet the hosts (we prefer it that way) I did message them prior to our visit which they responded quickly. Check in time was good, considering some places don't let you check in until 3/4pm. There was a few things which I personally think could be improved upon. There was only x1 bath towel for the 3 of us. Only x2 toilet rolls, with no spare. No hand towel for the bathroom. No tea towels or cloths for cleaning/washing up. A coffee maker would be a nice touch. I like to sleep with windows open which I wasn't able to do (I wouldn't be comfortable leaving French doors or the larger windows in the bedrooms open to sleep), maybe a fan. Also, the mattress were (for me anyway) not very comfortable, it felt as though there was a ditch at the top end of the bed. Oh and bedside tables would be a good idea. These ideas are in no way meant to be a criticism, just my personal opinion and with that said I would not hesitate to recommend The Woodpecker to anyone thinking of staying.

• Emma (9/5): Beautiful apartment, enjoyable stay - We stayed here as a family with two young children. The apartment was lovely, modern and in a great location. Check in was super easy and the family that look after the apartment are really sweet. We wouldn't hesitate to come back, we had a fabulous time. We did have a couple of niggles but really nothing major. Maybe a welcome pack with essential info would be a nice touch and a guest book would have been a good idea. The kitchen would have benefitted from a tea towel and a dust pan and brush. Our young boys left some crumbs and it would've been nice if I could've swept them up. The one niggle that really bothered us the most was the internet. It really was shockingly bad. The TV kept disconnecting from the network constantly and we couldnt manage to keep a steady connection on our phones. Maybe a WiFi booster or a router in the apartment would be great 👍🏻

• Natalie (8/5): Lovely stay, close to the beach. - Lovely and clean and light and airy. Smart Tv in both bedrooms. Good shower. Separate bathroom. Lots of kitchen appliances and utensils provided. A 2 minute walk to peasholme Park is great aswell as being only a 5 minute walk to the beach. Parking on the drive in fron of the property is good Struggled with the front door- got locked in a couple of times from the inside. Could do with mirrors in the bedroom. Had to move the sofa in the living room out to be able to use living room better

The property is of an excellent standard and we had the best stay making great memories in sunny Scarborough. I have already recommended The Woodpecker to family and friends x The family who own the property and the adjacent hotel are the most welcoming, helpful and kind I cannot fault my stay here - and I cannot wait to book again x
• Ruth (10/5): Excellent stay in a beautiful and stunning property - Stunning and immaculate property. Very bright and airy with lots of light throughout. Open plan living room and kitchen, which was amazing and spacious. Lovely bedrooms, with extremely comfortable beds. Each room beautifully presented. Annex was in a lovely and peaceful area, attached to a hotel where you could book in for breakfast. There was a bistro table and chairs at the rear of the property if you wanted to sit out. Excellent, friendly and efficient hosts. We will definitely be booking this property again.

• Tracy (9/5): Lovely accommodation would highly recommend - Beautiful accommodation, really well presented, overall very clean, few little bits here and there but not enough to not go back, comfortable beds. Tea and coffee supplied and a bottle of water in the fridge were nice touches. 5min walk to the beach, two minutes to peasholme park. A mat on the floor when you walk in would've been good for wet shoes and somewhere to hang coats. The shower wasn't very powerful, not for a lady with thick hair. Under sofa cushions need checking as it hadn't been hoovered. Bedding was marked, not dirty just marked.

• Dorinda (9/5): great stay in a modern apartment ideally located close to the Outdoor Theatre. The hosts were exceptional, really lovely - Modern well equipped apartment in a great location. The hosts were just lovely, helpful and attentive and really friendly. The weather was really warm and the doors and locks had expanded, it was really difficult to unlock and open them. Minor thing though.

I did not want to get out of bed and youngest child slept all night for once! Lovely touches to detail. Cannot recommend enough!
