Please note that check-in outside of normal hours can only be organized by prior arrangement. Please note that there are several flights of stone steps to access the house from the street and 2 flights of stairs to access the rooms from the hall. Also, the walk to and from town is via a steep slope. Highgate House may therefore not be suitable for guests with mobility difficulties.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. Bradley (10/5): Period charm home from home - Firstly Jonathan and Louise are warm welcoming hosts and very throughtfully prepared our room with rose petals as it was our 40th Wedding anniversary. The location of Highgate house is in the centre of the town and is ideally situated to fully explore all the fascinating gems that Whitby has to offer. The grade 2 listed property is charming and the bedroom felt opulent but comfortable. Wish could have stayed for longer

Claire (10/5): STUNNING!! - The location was perfect for us, really close to the Attractions. The suite was absolutely stunning. Emaculately clean and decorated to perfection. Breakfast in our rooms every morning made us feel like royalty and the owners were really friendly and helpful with local knowledge. We cannot praise them enough and really want to stay here again soon. The only thing we would have liked was a small fridge. But having said that im not sure how it would be incorperated in to the room without taking something away from the decor, so fully understand why there isnt one. Cold fresh milk was provided in a flask so wasnt a major issue.
Richard (10/5): Amazing stay and great hosts! - We visited for our honeymoon/minimoon and we were not disappointed! The rose petals on the bed and prosecco on arrival added a special touch to our minimoon away. The house itself was amazing. Decorated beautifully throughout and with such a peaceful atmosphere. The breakfast was so good! Amazing food and so much of it! Great location (a couple of mins walk down to the beach front). We will definitely be back for our anniversary!
Peter (10/5): Highgate House is a lovely place to stay where they make you feel completely at home able to relax - Having been in 2018 and 2019 under the previous ownership we were delighted to find that our stay ay Highgate House was still as good with a 10/10 experience for the whole stay. We hope to be back in a couple of years and would highly recommend this property to any other couples. This is the first time that we've had the 'breakfast in your room' experience and we really enjoyed this. The selection was wonderful and beautifully presented. Nothing - everything was perfect for us.

Jonathan was welcoming and helpful, suggesting places to eat. The location is perfect, close to the centre but far enough out to be peaceful. .Nothing negative to say! Just be aware Whitby is very hilly.
Shaun Quigley (10/5): Fanatic relaxing beautiful with friendly hosts Highgate is a must.. - From the moment we arrived Jonathan greeted us and was very friendly and helpful, he showed us to our room which was outstanding. He went through all thing regarding our room and how things work.. In the morning Jonathan and Louise bring to your room an amazing breakfast with freshly made bacon bum yogurt with fruit toast jam marmalade fresh coffee and tea. Just a perfect way to start the day.. The suit we had was opulent and beautifully finished. I would highly recommend Highgate House. We will be going back for another stay.. Tommy (10/5): Great place, great hosts, great breakfast. - Ideal location, very close to main tourist areas whilst being quiet in the immediate surroundings. Hosts were very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. Not overbearing, but happy to stop for chats when we saw them and share recommendations on where to go when we were unsure of where to go for parts of our trip. Breakfast brought to our room each morning was great quality, with a variety of food and drinks. There was also a good selection of hot drinks available in the room outside of breakfast time. Room was lovely. Spacious, well kitted, very comfortable bed. Would be nice if conditioner was provided in addition to the body wash and shampoo. Only point this out to emphasise how negligible the biggest 'issue' I had was!

Roland (8/5): We had a very pleasant, comfortable stay in an excellent location - The owners were very nice people, attentive and helpful. Location was excellent, room very clean and comfortable. Our TV had a fault on the first evening and by the next afternoon a new one had been purchased and installed !!! For the standard advertised and the price paid we would have preferred a coffee machine in the room rather than sachets of instant coffee. Highgate House was advertised as a 'Luxury B & B' which is why we chose it. It was a high ticket price at £477 for three nights. The breakfast did not meet the description of luxury in our opinion. For example there was a bacon roll every day, no other choice. The pastries for two people were half a round of toast, one small danish pastry, one crumpet and one small slice of fruit bread.

Rooms are so unique, very clean and the bed is very comfortable. Their served in bed breakfast is very delicious and it has a wide selection of foods for everyone with different tastes! Highgate house is located 2 min walk away from the beach which makes it even better. You can tell how much love and care is being put into this place and making sure that the guests feel welcome, that is something I appreciated the most. I recommend this place to everyone, whether it's a special occasion or just a weekend away. Five star accommodation they will definitely be coming back. The only criticism they had was the step at the front of the property was covered in bird poo, which wasn’t very nice

Vicky (10/5): A fantastic place for a weekend break - The owners of the property are absolutely fantastic and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was spacious and well laid out with good quality furniture. The en-suite was very well appointed. Breakfast was delivered to our room each morning and had a lovely selection of hot and cold food. There was a ready supply of tea and coffee for us to make too. The location is excellent, just on the edge of the town centre so far enough out to be quiet but close enough to easily get around on foot. Nothing.

Lovely mugs/glasses and a glass of fizz on arrival. Breakfast tray brought to your room in a morning made you feel like royalty! Would 1000% stay again. Great location if you want to walk around Whitby/pub crawl. The hosts couldn’t do enough for you, luggage carried into the room. Nothing!

Louise (10/5): Perfect - Totally fabulous stay, the room was beautiful as is the house a real treat to stay in somewhere so gorgeous, the hosts where just lovely and made us feel so welcome. Breakfast in your room on a huge tray full of delicious treats was a real touch. Everything thought through well, including a dressing table with plugs near enough to use appliances, which is nearly always missing in other types of accommodation. Literally nothing not to like.

Nothing was a bother it was beautiful the room was also spectacular . A Lovely comfortable bed and the breakfast was to die for would highly recommend staying at highgate house 🏠 The hosts, the Room, the Breakfast also the location was ideal it was lovely and Quiet and not far from town. all in all a brilliant break

Beautifully decorated, breakfast was a lovely personal touch and both hosts went above and beyond to ensure our stay was very special! Nothing!

Mark (10/5): A wonderfully relaxing stay in beautiful accommodation. - Highgate House has the wow factor. It’s an immaculate residence with beautifully appointed bedrooms right in the heart of Whitby. The breakfast in pyjamas ( in your room) was a lovely touch! Fresh and plentiful. Our hosts were lovely, very friendly and gave great recommendations for restaurants. If in Whitby again this would be my first choice of B&B.

The breakfast every morning brought up to our room was a lovely touch and very delicious.. the house was beautiful, and our room was lovely in every aspect, we would highly recommend staying at Highgate House in Whitby and will definitely be returning Nothing

Jonathan and Louise were super lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. They also have great local knowledge so you can get the most out of your time in Whitby. Breakfast was lovely, and will definitely be staying here next time we visit Whitby.

Jane (10/5): Exceptional - Johnathan and Louise were really wonderful people who would do anything for you, we were greeted with a warm welcome and a glass of prosecco and we had great service throughout our stay. The rooms are beautifuly decorated , clean and comtable. The breakfast was gorgeous a lovely bacon sandwich and a selection of pasties toast and fruit for breakfast. Everything from start to finish was amazing. Nothing everything was excellent.
