Niks
- Olivia (10/5): - Location amazing, loch amazing, swum, ate loved The upstairs shower was the only downside - it went between boiling hot and freezing cold and was basically unusable - if that was fixed it would be the perfect property
- Ethan (7/5): A beautiful area and nice stay. Some additions could make the property even better. - The cottage itself was clean and mostly comfortable. Amenities seemed brand new including the shower. The area is absolutely beautiful. The neighbour was friendly and helpful. The host was available for questions and was helpful. The fire was a really great addition. Given that the cottage is 30 minutes away from a supermarket, it would have been helpful if the property contained simple cooking items such as oil, butter and some spices. All that was available was a little bit of salt and pepper but not enough for more than a day of cooking. I understand that you bring your own stuff but some basic necessities would be nice. We read bread and milk was included but we didn't receive any of that, so maybe that isn't the case anymore based on past reviews. Also, there is no shampoo or conditioner available, so you have to bring that yourself too. The bed wasn't very comfortable but not the worst.
Lastly, strict check-in and out times were 4pm for check-in and 10am for check-out. While not standard, there's an option to extend those times for £10 extra. I felt that this was a little unreasonable given that this property is so rural.
- Ozan (9/5): - It was a great place to stay. Fireplace was super good! The road there is tricky especially when it's dark and rainy, and the armchairs aren't the most comfortables for couple days stay.
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect mini break for our anniversary, everything we needed great location - Everything was spotless, home away from home the log burner was an added bonus, very comfortable Nothing
- Stephen (10/5): - The wood fire was so cosy as storm Amy raged outside
- Julia (10/5): Perfect getaway for a single person or a couple . - Perfect location to explore Loch Lomond and area. The cottage was so well equipped. Bed comfortable and lovely shower. Lots of hot water. Heating cosy. Everything was spotless. Both being photographers, access to the loch was a bonus
I feel thanks should go to whoever does cleaning and handover and thanks for leaving delicious bread and milk. To be honest I can't think of anything negative. Sadly we did not meet the host but her relatives who live next door were lovely and helpful with local information.
- elaine (10/5): Stunningly beautiful location, we had a lovely stay ❤️ - The location was stunningly beautiful, private & peaceful, excellent for our wild swimming in nature.
The log burner was great, the wee kitchen area had everything we needed for our 2 night stay, with enough tea, coffee, sugar & milk to see us through. The tasty loaf was also appreciated.
Communication with our host Sally before our stay was excellent, letting us know what was and wasn’t included in our stay so we knew what we needed to bring. A few small things but these would not stop us returning to the wee gem that is Stables Cottage:
The seats in the living area weren’t very comfortable but we understand space is limited.
The shower/water in the bathroom was a wee bit iffy, at one point the shower didn’t come on & no water from tap, but quickly rectified & the heated towel rail didn’t work. These minor things didn’t negatively impact on our stay.
- Danielle (10/5): Perfect, quiet and relaxing - Very cosy and perfect location, small bench on the beach, the dogs were lovely and came right up to greet us, homemade bread, decor. I wouldn’t say I didn’t like, but unable to sit next to my partner downstairs as the chairs are singular
There is a few minutes walk down grass hills to the private beach but worth the little walk for the peacefulness.

- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -
- George (10/5): Very peaceful and tranquil. - The beach was great and the views were even better, the lambs were cute and so were the dogs, even though your next to a main road the walls are that thick you can’t here much road noise, didn’t get woken up by anything. Fire place is good, plenty of wood to use. Oven is good and so is the electric hob.
Owners are great and very nice people Could do with a microwave
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful property with wonderful gardens. The cottage had everything needed for a relaxing holiday.
The private beach was fabulous
- Donald (10/5): Exceptional - The facilty was impeccably clean. The grounds are quiet and very well kept. Very well managed property and very kind hosts. There was nothing that was a dislike.
- Daniella (6/5): Lovely views - It was set in a lovely location with great views we were lucky to have great weather 🥰
Homemade bread and some milk on arrival which was nice.
The shower was also really good nice and hot.
If you get chance to go to luss do as the gingerbread with icing on from the shop there is amazing. Unfortunately we had an issue we the log burner so were unable to use it on our second night and it was one of the reasons we chose the property I understand these things happen.
The property could of done with a few more essentials with it being self catering as its kind of in the middle of nowhere, there was no microwave, tongs, pizza cutter etc it could of also done with a radio these are mayb just my niggles but we ate in both nights so would of been handy, also be aware there is a pan under the kitchen sink for a leak 🤦♀️we didn't know this until the floor had a big puddle.
I think the bedroom could also stand a kingsize bed to as it was only a double.
- Caroline (9/5): Beautiful cottage in lovely location - The cottage was beautiful. Decorated and fitted to a very high standard. We loved the log burner. It was a must as we had freezing conditions during our stay. The only problem we had was the shower pressure, which is often a problem with electric showers. We also couldn’t get hot water in the kitchen or bathroom. It was tepid. We wondered whether the pipes were fed from the main house and as it was freezing and snowy it couldn’t maintain heat. Neither of these issues spoilt the stay.
- Claire (10/5): A beautiful, cosy cottage in a beautiful setting. The little private beach was a lovely place too. -
