Guest (9/5): Great value for money, fantastic base for hiking - We stayed at Amazing Huaraz four times over the course of a month as our base for hiking. They went above and beyond to help us organise things when needed and to have our room and luggage ready when we arrived. Twice we arrived before 5am and once we left at 3am and they couldn’t have been kinder. The rooms were cleaned every day, and extremely spacious, especially if you need space to pack hiking backpacks. One of the best showers we had in South America. Also they’ve just finished the terrace on the roof and it looks fantastic.

Milagros (1/5): No recomiendo - El wifi y la terraza. Mi experiencia en el Hotel Amazing fue muy mala. Desde nuestra llegada, la atención fue deficiente: el personal, especialmente un joven, no sabía qué habitaciones estaban disponibles y llegó a abrir una que ya estaba ocupada por otro huésped, lo que nos causó miedo y desconfianza. Luego nos asignaron una habitación diferente a la que habíamos reservado. La cama era muy dura, solo había una toalla pequeña y un jabón, no había agua caliente y nada coincidía con la descripción publicada en Booking.

Elissa (8/5): Grandpa’s House Vibes With A Surprise English Plot Twist - Overall, we had a lovely stay that felt a bit like crashing at your grandparents’, if your grandparents had good Wi-Fi, massive rooms, and a fully-equipped kitchen that no other guests ever use. Yes, the place is a little run-down, but in that endearing “it has soul” kind of way. It feels like the man running it once had a dream of building a cute little hotel for his family, and now you get to live in that dream too. Plot twist of the century: after days of friendly Spanish exchanges, he suddenly busts out perfect English the moment we were leaving. Sir, you were bilingual all along? Breakfast is basic but solid, and the Wi-Fi is surprisingly excellent. The one heads-up: it’s quite far from the center, and the road there is basically a dog gauntlet. Most of them are chill, but a few seem like they’ve had one too many rough nights and don’t appreciate surprise guests. Walk with confidence and maybe avoid waving snacks around. Also, the owners sometimes disappear like side characters in a mystery novel, so message them on WhatsApp before you arrive to make sure someone’s there to let you in.

Great value for money and they could accomadate our 5-person family in one room. The owner was very helpful and accomadating. Great breakfast! It is a little out of town, but we expected that and enjoyed walking. Would definately stay there again.

Cam (8/5): A great place - but bring earplugs. - I stayed a few nights over two separate stays. The staff were great, the whole stay was great particularly the large size of the room and the delicious breakfast. Excellent value for money. The location is great (I deliberately chose to be a short walk from town), in that there is no through-traffic and therefore no road noise (a real issue in Peru, in my experience). The only negative comment for this stay is the persistent and obnoxious yapping of the neighbouring dogs throughout the night - this is combated by the use of earplugs throughout the night while sleeping. A lamp in the rooms would be a nice touch to give them a cosier feel.

The location, it was very difficult to access both as a pedestrian and by car. At the place was confusing to find out that the hotel had a different name.

David (7/5): Good - This is kind of a pros and cons review. The pros: good sized clean basic room, lots of hot water, good wifi, the host speaks English very well and was very helpful recommending and booking day-hikes (that's all we do). Easily added another night at a good rate. Very quiet for three nights. There was a large celebration going on just down the hill with bands, dancing groups, food stalls etc which we would have missed if we stayed closer to the main square. The cons: google maps and taxi drivers don't seem to know where this place is located...we arrived around 20:00 (after dark) and got close but in the end had to wait for the host outside a nearby hotel and be shown the way. The place is not too far from the centre but it is 15-20 minutes walk and the last bit is on irregular, unpaved roads and not very pleasant. Basic breakfast. Often seems to be no staff on site although the host was responsive to messages. Our last night the place was almost full and it was quite noisy. Overall it worked for us but I wouldn't say we were enthusiastic.

The staff were very welcoming and hospitable, always ready to help- they even clean our room while we were away. Everything was perfect, but if I can add something is that fruits could be added to breakfast.
