Guest Reviews
- bernard (2/5): - Very very very very thirty!!!!!
- David (6/5): Comfortable place, well located with a friendly host. - Very well located, right by the canal. Host was friendly and place was clean. Lounge was a little cluttered, which would have made it difficult to use the sofabed (which I didn’t need).
- Darla (4/5): The staff are wonderful but the facilities are not - Yossi is wonderful and is the perfect person for any property The booking states private bathroom. Nope. There are two bathrooms for 7 rooms.
- Kendra (7/5): Unexpected - It was next to the canal which was very nice. The host was nice The room was not what we expected. It was very cluttered , full of exercise equipment and a table and chairs and stools and the bed was cordoned off with curtains. A fridge and freezer in the room full of pre cooked food and chillis. It was very strange. No private bathroom, a shower room when you enter the property.
- Elwin (3/5): Not for me I wouldn’t return unless the lady wasn’t there. She wasn’t bad just really annoying and bit rude and repetiti - Location from where I was filming The bathroom wasn’t private like it described. The Tv wasn’t working.
The lady working there was 70 which she kept mentioning and just seemed like she shouldn’t be left alone. Kept interrupting me when I tried to ask and answer aa question. Very patronising I did t feel comfortable. It was clean but I wouldn’t stay there again.
- Jakiul (1/5): Disgraceful. Waste of money and time - Probably the worst stay i have ever had. pictures did not match the place at all. cramped room and very very unclean. the place was extremely dirty. Had to book another place instead and got no refund.
false advertising at its finest
- Peter (1/5): - We didn't like anything and couldn't wait to leave. We didn't like that there's a lack of clarity on the private bathroom advertised that turned out to be a shared dirty bathroom.
The room it self was dirty with hairs from many previous tenants around the room.
The bedding has stains on forcing us to sleep on our own towels dressed in our day clothes. The bed also moved when you sat on it.
The advertisement also states gym facilities which turned out to be an exercise bike in the lounge and garden that was broken.
The lounge was also another room that could be booked only separated by a curtain. if required taking up yet more space there for you could not use if someone was staying in it. Not that we would have used the dirty room.
We were told that the room we were staying in was better because the other rooms were booking.com.
What the hell were we doing there?
- Cameron (7/5): Affordable place to stay in Hackney for a night - Location was handy for our needs, nice to be by the river as well There was a slight confusion when we arrived at the property (possibly regarding what platform it had been booked through, I’m not 100% sure), but the host was very friendly and sorted the rooms out for us
- Lisa (1/5): CONSIDERING HERE FOR A HACKNEY WICK EVENT? DON'T - JUST DON'T 🤮😱😤 - Not much ... the person who checked me in was available and answered my questions. THIS IS A SHARED HOUSE - THERE ARE NO PRIVATE BATHROOMS!!!
Despite asking on 3 separate occasions if I would have a private bathroom and being told yes, turns out there are 2 bathrooms, 1 on the ground floor and 1 on the 1st floor. There are 5 guest rooms, and the owner/tenant, I presume the latter, sharing the 2 bathrooms. I stayed on the 2nd floor so had to go downstairs to shower, and use the loo every time.
Lots of extension leads with multiple appliances attached. Pervasive smell of food throughout.
House was very, very hot. When I opened the window the door banged/rattled so hard I had to close it again. (Probs not the only thing that "rattles" around there). On arrival at 10am there was overt substance use taking place on the doorstep. There was 1 tiny mirror in a cupboard but light (unshaded bare bulb) was so limited I had to go back downstairs to the sauna hot bathroom to apply makeup and do my hair. The "mattress" had no support whatsoever and when I sat on it it, I plunged towards the floor. The shower was a drip and the pressure wasn't even enough to rinse out my shampoo.
There was no way the bedding was fresh. The quilt cover was reversible so I reckon it just gets turned over in-between visitors. I chose to lie on my towel rather than touch the bedlinen. (There was washing in the washer when I arrived which was still there when I left, despite 2 other people checking out that day, and other people checking into the same rooms). Door handles and locks hanging off, stains on the walls, curtains on string.
At my local tip there is a container wherein people can "donate" items for community use. There was a mix of items here which even the tip would deem unsuitable. The downstairs room was like something out of a shanty town (no offence to shanty towns). This place is GRIM! I chose to drive home for 4hrs at 3am than stay. I could continue but used my word count. Booking.
- Caple (1/5): Unsafe, unclean & uncomfortable!! There was nothing Tranquil about these rooms! - It was difficult to find anything to like, apart from it provided shelter/sleep for a few hours. Albeit in a place where we felt uncomfortable & unsafe. We experienced serious concerns relating to safety, cleanliness, and the professionalism of the host. The condition of the property was unacceptable; both the rooms and shared bathroom facilities were unclean and poorly maintained (particularly the damaged furniture & doors & creaking floors!).
More concerning, however, was the host’s behaviour. The host was acting very strangely (perhaps under the influence?!) and disclosed to us that a female guest was staying alone in another room. This is a clear breach of guest confidentiality and, in our view, placed that individual at potential risk. Upon speaking with the guest ourselves, she expressed that she too felt unsafe and had already decided not to remain at the property. She left.
As a couple, we felt some degree of reassurance in not being alone, but the overall environment and conduct of the host made the situation deeply uncomfortable and concerning. We left early morning as felt soo uncomfortable.
The property is falsely advertising amenities that do not exist such as a private bathroom, air conditioning, garden access and spa bath!
It’s the worst place we’ve ever stayed
(And only for a few hours!!)!
- Andrew (10/5): - The lady was warm and welcoming..First thing explained how to shut and undo front door ..Very important if coming back at 4.30am from Club..Tea coffee/crisps/bottled water in room along with microwave and fridge..Had a lovely conversation with her when I surfaced.. Nothing.
- Sandra (1/5): I’m never staying at a private hosts property ever gain - - The location was okay
- Bottled water provided and crisps
- Car parking free Sadly it felt dodgy from the start, I had to check in on my own as my partner was coming later and I felt very unsafe. The host seemed nice but when she gave me a tour she told me to put my bag on the floor, and because the area and atmosphere was dodgy I wanted to keep my bag on me at all times. She told me I had to keep it there as I wouldn’t be able to try out the locks on the door (even though I could as it was a shoulder bag). This was alarming for me and I didn’t know whether I should dash off there and then.
I decided to stay and honestly the cleanliness was a -100/10, the bed sheets and towels didn’t seem like they were washed at all.
The floors creak so loud that it’s unbearable, you can hear people clearly from one room to another and it made it very hard for me to fall asleep at all.
The smell was the worst I’ve ever experienced in a property, it was so bad that my partner woke up at 3am and smelled eggs, this is laughable at this rate🤣
Overall, it made me realise that I’m never staying at a private hosts property ever again.
- paddy (9/5): - my room had a beautiful view of the canal in a very quiet location
- Millie (3/5): - The property was in a good area with free parking and a nice view of the canal. It was close to where to needed to be. We also had water and snacks in the room which was nice after a long drive. The property was quite dirty and looked like it needed some TLC on the inside, the bed we stayed in was broken and bed sheets were dirty and clearly had not been changed from the previous people, the door handle was hanging off the door and other general facilities weren’t very clean. The lady who greeted us seemed nice enough however very particular about some things. We also didn’t realise that some of the rooms are occupied for asylum seekers which we do not have an issue with but something that should be advertised as other people may not be as comfortable with this. The stay was generally okay for 1 night however would not stay here for longer than that.
- greer (10/5): Ill b back - Everything. She's a doll. There's a canal in front of the door like Venice. Swans. Ducks. Joggers. Bikers. Boats & barges. That I had to leave.
- Alexander (1/5): - Nothing The lady landlord obnoxious bedroom i stayed in was dirty the bathroom smelled of piss the worst place I've ever stayed and no heating on for the three nights I stayed had to leave 0/10
- Akoune Pierre-Marie (6/5): -
- Oliver (5/5): -
- Amira (9/5): - Ye host is very friendly and helpful she offered me flowers because it was my birthday which is very nice of her.
- Ashley (3/5): Nice host but let down by overall quality and experience - Ono was polite and appeared to be doing what she could but unfortunately my experience dampened all of that. I was in the downstairs front room with a curtain separating my bed. I had a key for the room to lock it but I was kept awake all night by creaking and noise from above. I was also affected by cigarette smoke from another guest and despite the host attempting to resolve this it didn’t appear to stop.
The shower downstairs I had appeared dirty and what looked like poo was on a wall near the toilet.
The booking claims there is also parking but the parking available seemed very insecure with the car park being dark and other parked cars appearing to have been broken into.
- Kaloyan (1/5): - Dirty floor Don't have private bathroom
- Simone (2/5): Sporca, gestita male, non rispetta la descrizione. - La posizione non è male. Sporca, gestita male, non rispettava la descrizione.
- Alastair (10/5): -
- Saula (8/5): - Location was great. Parking was available. Public transport was great too. My mattress had a sharp pointed broken spring maybe sticking out of it. Please change the mattress.
- Issa (10/5): -
- Meade (9/5): -
- Richard (5/5): - Location was convenient for me
- Henry Xavier (8/5): -
- n (6/5): -
- gary (10/5): - Wonderful welcome and great facilities None
- Augustine (7/5): -
- Jarod (5/5): -
- Ellen (8/5): Only stayed one night for a concert and it was sound, nice location and nice host, room was fine too - suited my needs p - Nice host, room was fine, view of the canal was lush, wasn’t expecting much and it suited my needs perfectly Shared bathroom but to be honest it wasn’t that bad
- Manuela (1/5): I refused to stay . Felt unsafe . - Nothing . It lied in the booking .com add . No on suite as advertised . Everything . Host was completely drunk or high . No one suite bathroom as advertised . Communal bathroom did not lock . My door to room never even had a handle on the inside .
I don’t know how you as a company still advertise this place .
- Oyan (7/5): My stay was good. The Host is warm and welcoming. - The warm welcome and interaction from the Host. The view of the canal
- M (8/5): Very nice - Very nice and quiet accommodation. Lots of food provided which was very helpful as we were very unfamiliar with the area and there was a mini fridge in the room as well. Also very close to public transport that runs 24hrs. 1 double bed per room, but they have an extra single bed foldable frame and futon that you can add to the room. I thought the room would have 2 beds but everything worked out ok as it was comfy.
- Kimberley (10/5): - I loved how the hoste was so lovely, made us feel like a part of her family. Always made sure that we had everything we needed. It was such warm weather during the time we were staying and she made sure we always stayed hydrated by leaving water and snacks outside our room. Even gave us food to take home and with us. The kitchen was full of food for the guests, We will definitely stay there again 100/100 for her hospitality N/A
- Derek (1/5): Worst Stay ever - Nothing Rude staff, not as described in the description.
- Howard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (9/5): Perfect for a short stay. - It was the perfect location for the London Stadium. Nothing - it was fine.
- Rose (5/5): Passable -
- Julie (3/5): Lovely canal view but very rundown - Lovely canal view (from one room only, other 2 have carpark views), friendly helpful funny host, barfridge microwave kettle & toaster available in each room so we lived very cheaply, some rooms have tv also. Almost the cheapest accommodation in London! Buses run outside the door to cbd and interchanges. All ceramic surfaces & floors spotless. Very quiet rooms & quiet neighbourhood. All the chips & sausage rolls & bottled water you can eat apparently free! On my tight budget I'm glad we stayed there, view made other problems kinda worth it * NO PRIVATE BATHROOMS: ad is wrong. Host seems to think that a bathroom opening into the hall on each floor is a private bathroom ...
* NO CITY VIEWS: ad is wrong. 1 room has lovely canal views, other 2 overlook the carpark.
* NO SPA. Ad is wrong.
* Just like living at your hoarder granny's rundown terrace house: host lives there fulltime & knocks on your door daily for a multitude of reasons (until I made a PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB sign). Broken & unnecessary furniture in room, zero water pressure in shower, all walls & corners grubby, bathroom had someone else's toiletries even tho we were the only tenants, 3 old dirty handbasin plugs none of which fitted, kitchen cupboards all full of junk, jar of instant coffee in room was 2 years out of date, rancid food left in room barfridge, canal-view room had weird red waxy stains on the curtains.
* Bed in canal room has been broken since ad photo was taken: bent headboard bar, 1 bent leg. Didn't actually collapse tho, & quite comfy ...
- Ford (10/5): Exceptionally caring & thoughtful owner whom really provided excellent, clean accommodation.... - The owner was exceptionally caring & realizing I was staying over for the Hackney Half marathon really tried to provide all the things that I needed, the room was very spacious, very clean if far exceeded my expectations... genuinely I do not believe, considering the price it would have been reasonable to expect any more...
- Gelov (10/5): Exceptional -
- Segundo (1/5): Unacceptable! - I was completely disappointed with the room, but the location was good, and it had a good view of the river from the window. The bed frame was broken, and the room generally did not meet my standards .
- Monisha (7/5): Nice stay - Its really nice with affordable prices. I spent one night, it was nice No complaints
- Maureen (10/5): Comfy room with super friendly host - I loved how thoughtful the host was. We arrived at 10 pm, but she took her time to explain to us everything. She even put water bottles, and snacks in our room. She was super friendly and funny. Totally recommend and we will definitely be back 🥰
- Âfg (7/5): Good -
- Chris (6/5): Was ok for the night & short stay - Great location in front of barge canal & beautiful surrounding It had good facilities & a inviting host,
- Amro (8/5): Very good -
- Nickie (1/5): This isn’t a booking.com property more a airb&b ? - Sorry we didn’t even go in
The lady we spoke to seemed nice enough just wasn’t what we thought it would be at all, we should’ve read more of information I’m sorry but we pulled up to a dodgy feeling housing estate with overflowing bins, we didn’t want to leave our car there and as two women didn’t want to walk to the venue as we’d planned
- Bawan (7/5): Good value for money if you are just looking for a bed to sleep in. - Good location. Lovely host. Parking available.
Provided water and snacks. Quite worn out facilities. Mattress was very old. Shower power was very low.
- Lucy (7/5): Good - The room was comfortable and clean and the host was lovely.
- Harry (1/5): Chose to drive home than sleep at all - The host and location - they were very thorough and the location was why we booked. Pretty much anything else.
I booked this as we were attending a late night event form 10pm-3am and need somewhere simple to crash, but it was that bad, we made a swift call that, after our event, to not sleep at all and just drive straight home. I’ve never done that before.
We were given an unusual greeting from the host, where they were talking of double-bookings and weren’t 100% sure who we were or what we had (this should’ve been a red flag, but we wanted to be understanding).
After being met outside and the host complained about this - despite messaging us to give notice and that we could park in one of the bays.
They went through a lot of the facilities, which by themselves were okay with free water, snacks and usage of a kitchen - but we were then shown to a living room, which had its furniture moved and a bed put in it and fridge. This was hugely alarming as it was not the room shown on the listing nor did it have the private bathroom advertised. We instead had to share a shower-toilet down the Hall - with other guests being present.
This bathroom also had a carpet toilet seat, and a floor mat that dared not walk on without shoes.
You can hear the upper rooms at all times.
The floor was so dusty, my black sockets turned white.
The fridge in the room contained mouldy remnants of food which clearly hadn’t been looked at in over a week.
The bed was the worst part, with just sitting on it the frame is broken and everything flops to one side. And the sheets just had this layer about them, like they weren’t fresh.
I’ve never chosen to not sleep anywhere before, especially after being out until the early hours of the morning - I hope this helps people understand such a rug-pull from the listing photos and advertised experience.
- Chabokki (1/5): Bad -
- Dávid (3/5): Poor - The Lady was absolutely kind and nice. The room wasn't clean at all, it was moldy, the fridge smelled, we had to clean the entire room after we had arrived, we had to mop the floors (there was a ton of dust under the bed and behind the shelves) and it still didn't feel clean at all. We reserved a different room and we got a totally different one. The bed framing was broken and we had to sleep on the mattress.
- Presley (7/5): Good -
- Falase (5/5): Passable -
- Christina (8/5): Very good -
- Sandra (5/5): Passable - I called the day before to confirm my booking and I was told there was no room for me, which was very stressful. After a very long call the lady said there was a room available for me. Nothing wrong with the lady but the link between Booking.com and her didn't make sense and she was not really bothered about not having a room to host me. She actually turned away a friend who had made the exact same booking in another of her rooms, only half an hour before of the checking time previously agreed! shocking. It could have been easily me, not using Booking.com again if I can help it!
- Ellen (3/5): Not a smooth or relaxing stay at all - The accommodation was completely fine for our purpose, as a cheap and convenient place to stay after a night out. The manager was very nice, once she had shown up to let me in. To begin with, the host had completely forgotten that I would be staying, despite me having confirmed my arrival 30 minutes beforehand as she had requested. This meant that I was left standing in the dark for quite a while (as a solo woman) having rung the doorbell multiple times, feeling quite on edge and unsafe. Seemingly by luck the host came home just before I gave up completely.
The host was very friendly once we'd established that I had indeed booked a room, and I was upgraded to a different room because the one I had booked was booked for somebody else before we checked out the next day. The room we were put in simply wasn't clean to any standard and there was random junk everywhere. The lock to the communal bathroom also didn't work.
I wasn't expecting any form of luxury for the price of the room we had booked but basic cleanliness, tidiness, and not being completely forgotten by the host seem like quite a low bar to reach. I would recommend anybody who chooses to stay here to arrive in a group if it's nighttime, in case you're left waiting in what is quite a dark and quiet corner of Hackney. I would also point out that in the downstairs room the footsteps from the rooms above are extremely loud, making it fairly impossible to sleep if people above are moving around.
- Horace (8/5): Very good -
- Katherine (9/5): Would recommend to anyone looking for a cozy room and is spending most of their day in the city. - The hostess was super kind and accommodating. She made herself available any time we needed and took great care of her home and of us. It was super clean and a super great location to all forms of transit.
- Jennifer (10/5): Peaceful - Clean, hospitality pleasant NA
- Anat (3/5): Not worth the money - The host was welcoming and nice I recently stayed at Tranquil Rooms in London, and unfortunately, my experience was quite mixed. On the positive side, Yossy was nice and welcoming, making an effort to greet me when I arrived. However, I felt uncomfortable with the constant reminders that I should have called her directly because she claimed not to receive messages through the booking platform. Despite me confirming my arrival time via the booking system, Yossy seemed surprised and even worried when I showed up, which made me feel quite awkward and unwelcome.
The place itself did not meet my expectations at all. The room was not clean and felt messy, which made me feel quite uncomfortable, especially as a woman traveling alone. Additionally, I thought I had booked a private bathroom, but it turned out to be outside the room. Thankfully, I was the only guest that night, so I didn’t have to share the facilities, but I could imagine it being quite inconvenient otherwise.
Overall, while I appreciated Yossy's initial friendliness, the lack of cleanliness and the awkward reception left me feeling uneasy during my stay. I would not recommend this place, particularly for solo female travelers.
- Kyra (8/5): the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. Good location with parking bay for events happening in Victoria park 👍🙃 - Really helpful
- Anya (10/5): Perfect - Loveliest host, so considerate and kind, had everything I needed in my room. Honestly could not rate this experience more highly! Nothing
- Solomon (10/5): Excellent - The staff and the property is so good and the staff was so lovely I will love to stay in the property again Nothing
- Jay (7/5): Good -
- Tav77 (1/5): Not worth the money - Really, really bad -
- Lee (2/5): Ideal location for the London stadium but that’s about it - The location Room wasn’t ready, wasn’t clean, clear evidence of the last occupant still stained on the bed, clumps of hair, grim smell from the fridge and the room
- Michelle (9/5): Superb - Host was fantastic, lovely lady
- Monika (2/5): Never again - Close to the stadium Dirty, smelly place and creepy owner
- Jaye (1/5): We stayed in a room that was dirty, full of junk and random items that filled the floor space! - Nothing. Everything. Do NOT STAY IN THIS PLACE! GROSS!!
- Insah (10/5): Exceptional - Hospitable hosts, very friendly! Good location as it's close to the train station also
- Leanne (10/5): Exceptional - The host was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed.
- Haroon (5/5): Passable -
- Chijioke (6/5): Pleasant -
- Philipp (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (8/5): Very good - Very nice lady and so helpful thank you very much. Place wasn’t the cleanest but it was great value for money and was free parking.
- Pavan (7/5): Good - Excellent host, extremely flexible/accommodating on checking in/out times. Room had excellent amenities (kettle, mini fridge, hairdryer) and sheets/towels were clean. location was a little further out of central london than expected, but still excellent value for money
- Aseel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Luke (1/5): Bad -
- Joshua (8/5): I really enjoyed my stay and so did my friend. We will happily stay again - The bed was really comfortable and the room overlooked the canal. The owner was exceptionally friendly N/a
- Theonick (4/5): Horrible Beds and Flooring. - The facilitor was friendly, abiet a bit overbearing with her interactions as she carry on small tall much longer than you'd want it to be. The location was safe and only one bus into London, but about 15 mins walk to the nearest train station. Wasn't the most difficult journey.
- Smrutiranjan (5/5): Passable -
- Anonymous (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ghayyour (7/5): Good -
- Jude (1/5): Maybe worst experience ever, Dirty disgusting horrible place, blatant false advertising! - Convenient location if attending event at Copper box, this was the ONLY good thing everything else was awful! Maybe worst experience ever, Dirty disgusting horrible place, blatant false advertising!-There is no free parking-you will be risking being towed or clamped! There is no private bathroom either- only shared bathrooms which were disgusting! Room was horrible-I should of just left and gone home! This might be one of the cheapest rooms available on here but its not worth anything (in my opinion it shouldn't even be allowed on sites like this) Theres so much more I could say but I think I'll just warn others to stay clear.
- Saeed (6/5): Pleasant -
