• Matthew (10/5): Superb Sigiriya Stay! - Our stay at Manju's Homestay was amazing. Manju and his family couldn't do enough to help us. We had excellent breakfasts and they prepared a really good curry on our first night. We were only going to stay for a couple of days but ended up staying for eight days. We were able to hire bicycles locally for 1000 rupees, and the cycling of the Sigiriya back roads is some of the best we have done whilst in Sri Lanka. During our stay we had to go to Colombo to extend our visa, and Manju arranged a lift with his brother-in-law Lali. The guest house is set in a beautiful jungle garden and we even saw fire flies one night. Hopefully we will be back one day! Nothing

Manju helped organized our transportation and experience while we were staying in Sigiriya. We ate delicious breakfast and dinner each. It’s a great location too! My wife and I walked to Lion’s Rock (15 minutes). We had an incredible time staying here.

• Noemi (10/5): Super Aufenthalt. Absolut zu empfehlen. - Der Gastgeber ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Er selbst hat ein TukTuk und fährt einen damit überall hin wo man möchte. Auch organisiert er einem eine Weiterfahrt falls notwendig. Man kann Abends auch dort essen und es wird extra für einen gekocht. Wir haben hier ein sehr leckeres Kottu gegessen. Das Zimmer ist auch top. Die Unterkunft liegt nicht direkt im Touri-Zentrum, aber genau das war für uns perfekt. Das WLAN ist leider schlecht und hat immer wieder Unterbrechungen. Der Mülleimer im Bad hat leider keinen Deckel. Das wäre für den Geruch im Bad sehr hilfreich.

• László (8/5): - Cheap and in nice area. No neighbours, abundant breakfast. With the nice jungle style ambient it comes some things which is as i could see around in sri lanka is normal. Im not saying it is terrible but you have to get used to gekkos, tiny frogs, snails, mosquitos in your room. Not a luxury experince, but close to nature at least.

Manju and his wife are so welcoming and helpful, offering ideas of what to do and picking me up from around town when needed which as a solo travel was so helpful. • Cait (10/5): An amazing beautiful experience - We have been travelling for 3 and a half months and this was by far our favourite stay. Manju and his wife are extremely friendly and kind people. His wife’s brother was also there and was so kind. The room was spotless and beautiful. Their garden surrounding was beautiful. They had beautiful children who would always smile and wave at us. We had dinner on one of the nights cooked by Manju’s wife and it was delicious. We also booked a safari tour with them which was incredible. I would highly recommend this stay!

Le gros point négatif était le bruit. La chambre est très mal isolé et l’environnement était très bruyant. Nous nous sommes fait réveiller par les voisins qui mettaient la musique à fond ainsi que les chiens errants qui aboyaient sans cesse.

• Paul (10/5): Der beste Homestay in ganz Sigiria! - Unser Aufenthalt im Manju Homestay war einfach rundum perfekt! 🤍 Von der ersten Minute an haben wir uns sehr willkommen gefühlt. Die Zimmer sind sauber, gemütlich und mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht – inklusive Klimaanlage, was bei den Temperaturen Goldwert ist. Manju ist mit Abstand einer der hilfsbereitesten und herzlichsten Hosts, die wir je erlebt haben. Er steht jederzeit mit Rat und Tat zur Seite, gibt tolle Tipps für die Umgebung und kümmert sich wirklich um alles. Man fühlt sich nicht wie ein Gast, sondern wie ein Freund. Das sri-lankische Frühstück war jeden Morgen super lecker und frisch zubereitet. Auf Wunsch haben wir auch dort zu Abend gegessen – und das war definitiv eine der besten Entscheidungen! Das Curry und das Kothtu waren unglaublich gut und authentisch. Auch Manjus Familie war unglaublich herzlich. Sein Schwager Lali war super freundlich und hat uns am Abreisetag für einen sehr fairen Preis nach Kandy gebracht und sogar einen Bus für die Weiterfahrt von dort organisiert. Außerdem haben wir mit Manjus Bruder eine Safari gemacht, die eine absolute 10/10 war – ein echtes Highlight unserer Reise! Wir können dieses Homestay wirklich uneingeschränkt empfehlen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Vielen, vielen Dank für diese wundervolle Zeit! 💛✨
• Stadelmann (9/5): - Die Unterkunft ist sehr schön in der Natur gelegen und das Zimmer war grosszügig und sauber. Die Familie ist sehr freundlich und man fühlt sich direkt wohl. Das Frühstück war lecker und gegen fairen Aufpreis kann man in der Unterkunft Abendessen, was ich sehr empfehle! Die Unterkunft liegt etwas abseits vom Stadtzentrum.

From the moment we arrived, he greeted us with a smile and instantly made us feel at home. He went above and beyond to ensure we had the best and fairest Sigiriya experience. He organized a delicious Sri Lankan cooking class for us, coordinated our laundry, and personally took us to Pidurangala Rock and the Dambulla Cave Temples. His warm hospitality makes the stay a solid 10/10. The rooms are clean and have comfortable beds. The one we stayed in had air conditioning, which was very refreshing at night. And the breakfasts prepared by his wife were authentic and tasty Sri Lankan meals, a delicious way to start the day. No negative comments — everything was wonderful

• Alex (10/5): Magnífico - Manju es muy cercano y servicial. Tuvimos un problema con el pago en sigiriya rock y no dudo en acompañarnos para solucionarlo. Perdió 2 horas pero recuperamos nuestro dinero. Si buscas algo casero y sin trampas, este es tu hostal!
• Nikiema (9/5): Paisible ! - La chambre était très confortable ! Très bien équipée (même de quoi se faire du thé ou café en chambre, la classe !) On a adoré la deco. Petite terrasse privée qui fait le taff en fin de journée quand vous avez la cosse ! Le petit déjeuner inclus est différent tous les matins et très bon ! Possible de manger le soir si vous prévenez un peu à l’avance, bon et pas cher ! Le gérant vous propose pleins d’activités avec des prix plus ou moins élevés (dépend de votre budget). Mais cool si vous ne voulez pas trop vous prendre la tête !
• Mar (10/5): Fantàstica estància, on t’ajuden amb el que necessitis i el menjar local de l’hostal perfecte. - Relació qualitat preu molt bona, el personal molt agredable i molt atents per si necesites alguna cosa o per ajudar-te perque tinguis una bona estancia a la zona. Per el tema dels safaris, els de l’hostal s’informen per on hi ha mes elefants i poguer decidir sí anar a un parc nacional o a un altre. Recomano molt sopar aqui a l’hostal perquè el menjar tradicional es brutal, et porten diferents plats típics de la zona amb una bona quantitat i amb un preu local. Tot mha agradat

• Juliane (10/5): Wir hatten einen wunderschöne Zeit dort und würden jederzeit wieder kommen! - Die Hütte war sehr sauber und man konnte abends gut auf der Veranda sitzen. Die Unterkunft ist nicht direkt in Sigiriya, was wir wiederum sehr gut fanden, da es sehr ruhig war. Wir haben uns Fahrräder geliehen und damit kommt man überall gut hin! Das Essen war auch super dort und die Gastgeber waren sehr, sehr herzlich.
• Ariane (9/5): - Großes Zimmer mit einem großen, bequemen Bett ( feste Matratze). Der Aircondition ist leise und effektiv, einen guten Ventilator gibt es auch. Aber immer, wie bei allen Homestays in Sri Lanka : Das wichtigste ist der Gastgeber. Manju ist großartig! Eine sehr nette Familie, beide kochen sehr,sehr lecker. Manju hat viele Vorschläge für Ausflüge. Wir haben eine Jeep- Safari nach Kaudulla gemacht ( im September) und haben sehr viele Elefanten gesehen. Das lag nicht zuletzt an dem tollen Guide, der uns alle Zeit der Welt ließ. Unser persönliches Highlight war der Nachtspaziergang um das Loris zu sehen. Ehrlich : Ich hatte vorher mir noch nie größere Gedanken über dieses Tier gemacht. Manju hatte uns die Tour empfohlen, und es war großartig ! Jeder Naturliebhaber sollte das unbedingt mitmachen! Vermutlich die einzige Chance deines Lebens, diese absolut entzückende Tier in der Freiheit sehen zu können. Ansonsten: Wie schon erwähnt ist das Abendessen ( und auch das Frühstück) sehr lecker! Wir haben an drei von vier Nächten bei Manju gegessen! KEIN NACHTEIL, aber man sollte es wissen: Du kannst nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit nicht von " Sigiriya City" zur Unterkunft zu Fuß laufen, weil dazwischen ein unbeleuchter Teil liegt, wo Elefanten durchkommen könnten. Uns hat das nicht gestört, denn die " Touristen - Meile" war sowieso nicht unser Ding. Das Essen bei Manju war sowieso viel besser, und auch in der direkten Umgebung gibt es ein paar Bars.

• Cristina (10/5): Fantástico - Manju te hace sentir como si estuvieras en tu casa. Las instalaciones de nuestra cabañita estaban perfectas. El desayuno rico, variado y completo. Nos ofreció un safari por Mineriya National Park que fue fantástico, el conductor fue un encanto. Nos ayudó con nuestro tuktuk. Coincido con un festival de música electrónica, que hizo las noches un poco ruidosas, pero entendemos fue algo excepcional.

Colazione servita in veranda ottima. Il valore aggiunto è il proprietario Manju, persona assolutamente incredibile. Sempre a disposizione ma mai invasivo, ci ha aiutato e consigliato nelle diverse attività della zona, portandoci personalmente con il suo tuktuk. Esperienza impareggiabile. • Josselin (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful stay with nice family. - If I could give more stars 🌟, I would give them. I stayed 2 nights at Manju then extended one more night because I really felt at peace there. Manju and his family are really great hosts. I ate dinner and breakfast there for the 3 days and loved the food. Also, Manju took me to Pindurangala Rock, to Ayurvedic massage, to Sam Popham arboretum and Dambulla cave temple. All the recommendations were great 👍 👍 Manju’s family will take care about you, and are really good representatives of all the great people I met during my trip in Sri Lanka. They also found me a great driver to head back to Negombo. I definitely recommend you to stay at Manju homestay! 🙏🏽🐒🐢🐘🌴
• Guest (10/5): little paradise - We stayed in this lovely little paradise for three nights, exploring sigiriya and its surroundings. The rooms are spacious and clean, the outside garden is beautiful and the location is in that sweet spot of being calm and off the main roads but still easily accessible. The prices are very affordable and incredible for what you get. The most special thing about Manju Homestay though is Manju, the owner, himself and his lovely family. I have stayed in a lot of different places and Manju is one of those hosts that really stick out. He really cares for his guests and their wellbeing. He gave us rides in his tuktuk, helped us organise our itinerary, cooked for us and adviced us on what to do and where to go. And he did all of that with so much compassion, energy and joy. He lives for his family and this place, and you can tell that in so many ways. Thank you Manju, for making our stay truly special. Nothing
• Giulia (10/5): - Siamo stati da Manju sotto consiglio di una coppia conosciuta durante il nostro viaggio in Sri Lanka. Abbiamo passato tre giorni fantastici in compagnia di Manju e della sua famiglia che ci ha fatto sentire parte loro. Manju ci ha consigliato ed organizzato l’itinerario nei nostri giorni di permanenza in maniera impeccabile! Abbiamo cenato da loro tutte e tre le sere (consiglio i noodle e il Kottu!) e la loro colazione è molto varia e buonissima! La struttura è tranquilla, accogliente, ben tenuta e pulita. Con Manju ci siamo sentiti più che “clienti”, degli amici… ed è per questo che quando siamo andati via ci è dispiaciuto davvero tanto. Avendo in programma di tornare in Sri Lanka questa sarà sicuro una tappa fissa! Posto davvero consigliato!! Nulla

• Diana (9/5): Muy recomendable!! - Desde que llegamos nos acogieron super bien, desde el primer momento manjou nos recomendó todo lo que teníamos que ver y los mejores sitios. Nos llevaba tanto el en tuk tuk como amigos drivers con el que hicimos un safari que vimos muchos elefantes. La cama era muy cómoda, el aire acondicionado funcionaba bien y está a 10 minutos de las zonas principales. El desayuno estaba muy rico y una familia encantadora, repetiría sin duda
• Mario (5/5): Schade - Unterkunft ok aber mehr nicht - Gute Lage Bequemes Bett und gutes Bad Preis günstig aber es wird versucht einem möglichst viele Touren und Ausflüge zu verkaufen Sehr viele Moskitos an und in der Unterkunft. Manju hat versucht uns Touren anzudrehen, wobei es sich bei der Villagetour um eine Touristenabzocke handelte. Vom Gastgeber sind wir sehr enttäuscht, da wir unter Gastfreundlichkeit etwas anderes verstehen. Auf keinen Fall die Villagetour buchen!!! Überteuert und lustlose Abfertigung und es wird mehr versprochen als am Ende an Leistung erbracht wird. Kritik wurde von Manju nicht ernst genommen. Zimmer war zwar sehr günstig und sauber aber vermutlich soll über die Touren dann mehr Geld gemacht werden. Das mehrmalige Anpreisen von Touren haben wir als sehr unangenehm empfunden. Sehr schade! Frühstück war ok - hatten wir aber deutlich bessere mit mehr Obst.

• Zachary (9/5): Lovely homestay with friendly family. - Very friendly host, who was helpful with a Tuktuk and could do tours to local sights himself. Comfortable facilities and good breakfast. The location means that at night you need a tuktuk to get around but this is fairly cheap.
• Evie (10/5): Friendly and comfortable stay - We had a wonderful stay with Manju and his family. The property is located just outside of town but it’s a short walk in and Manju offers very affordable tuktuk rides if you want to have dinner on the main strip (don’t walk around at night because of the wild elephants!). We also arranged our elephant safari and sunrise walk up Pidurangala through Manju which were both for a great price and included direct pick up and drop off. The breakfast was as a mix of traditional Sri Lankan and western (toast/omelette) on another day, both were big portions and tasty! Overall a lovely homestay, thank you Manju and family ❤️

Absolutely enjoyed my two nights staying at Manju’s Homestay with a very welcoming family and amazing breakfast each morning. Manju provides tuk tuk rides for a small cost, and is able to organize day trips to wherever needed. • Mengual (10/5): Amazing place to stay in Sirigiya to experience the culture and enjoy the nature. - The hosting family is super kind and cute. The owner was really helpful and kind, helping us to plan our day in Sigiriya with all the good advices. The room was really spacious as the photos show. The food they offered was really tasty and generous. Lastly, the garden and the house are very beautiful, making the stay even better. Even though we knew that we were booking a room without AC, we found the room a bit hot at night, despite the two fans. Also, the wifi didn’t work.
• Tara (10/5): Absolutely gorgeous - we will be back!! - Manju and his family were absolutely wonderful - they were so kind and attentive. Manju was more than happy to drop us off and pick us up in his Tuk Tuk for a small extra cost. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and we could decide what time we’d like it. The room was gorgeous. Very clean and spacious. Despite there being a great mosquito net over the bed, we didn’t experience any bugs getting into the room. The shower was very refreshing too. Location wise, we were a 35/40min walk from Lion Rock and only a 30min Tuk Tuk ride to Dambulla. It was also only a short Tuk Tuk ride from Habarana. We would be absolutely delighted to return soon! Nothing! My only recommendations for remote workers is that the WiFi across this whole town isn’t the best. It’s a little slow, but I still managed to join a few meetings without video on.

His wife cooked us an amazing breakfast and dinner. Excellent value for money and we really enjoyed our stay in their home! Nothing!

• Jade (10/5): Amazing host and family, felt super welcome - They really deserve a 10, Manju and his family are so sweet. The food that his wife cooks was amazing and the breakfast was also very nice! He has his own tuktuk so if you need a tuktuk you can just text or ask him to bring you somewhere. Main road is a 12/15 min walk which is fine during the day. I really enjoyed my stay! ❤️

• Talisa (10/5): Exceptional - We had an amazing stay at Manju's. The owner and his family are very kind and try to help their guests as good as possible. It is a small Homestay in the middle of the jungle, but not too far from the city. They can also drive you to it if requested. You have easy access to different activities like hiking, safari and wellness. Perfect stay for adventures and relaxing at the same time!

He would drop us in town late at night and sorted us out some really good tours. Him and his family have a beautiful home and we were very lucky to have stayed with him. • Żaneta (10/5): Great place! - We have stayed in this place 2 nigts and strictly recommend Manju and his family as a host! Their place is located in quiet area, in small garden, close to nature. Room is simple but clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious ! Manju and his wife and daughter are super nice, he helped us getting to Lions Rock early morning and dropped our leaving staff to the bus station. Thank you! Nothing
• Justyna (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay in Manju Homestay was absolutely wonderful! The owner is incredibly kind, speaks English well, and goes above and beyond to help his guests. He helped us to organize an amazing day trip - Safari and Polonnaruwa. The next day he drove us to the starting point of the Pidurangala Rock trek. His warm and welcoming attitude made us feel right at home. Another great advantage is the flexibility with breakfast time – and the breakfasts were delicious! We highly recommend this place!

• Tim (7/5): Good - The owner and his family were very nice. The surroundings were very green, the garden was beautiful there is a lot of shadow. The room was big and they have good mosquito nets above the bed. It is not near the centre but close enough. Walking distance around 15min. You could rent scooter from owner and he could drive you with a tuk tuk anywhere you want for a reasonable price. They gave us two bottles of water every day, breakfast was good and different each day. There was a lot of humidity in the room, the celling was moldy. The smell was very disturbing.

His wife's cooking is absolutely delicious, making you feel like you're enjoying home-cooked meals. The private bungalow is basic but comfortable – it's not luxury, but it has everything you need. What truly sets Manju Homestay apart is the family's genuine warmth and hospitality. They make you feel like one of their own. If you're looking for a genuine, welcoming stay in Sigiriya, this is the perfect place. Highly recommended! 10/10.
• Christoph (9/5): Superb - We had a wonderful stay at this accommodation, which is located a bit outside of Sigiriya in a peaceful and beautiful setting. Our host was very kind and welcoming, making our time there even more enjoyable. The breakfast was great – one day we had a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast, and the next day a more Western-style meal. We felt very comfortable throughout our stay. If you want to use the air conditioning, there is an extra charge, but it wasn’t an issue for us. The host also offers various services, including Tuk-Tuk rides to local attractions, which is a great option for exploring the area. Highly recommended! Nothing

• Ali (9/5): A warm & welcome Homestay with great meals! - A very lovely homestay. The accommodation is exactly as described; clean and comfortable. There is a lovely porch outside the room where you can relax and absord the sounds of jungle wildlife, after a day of hiking & sightseeing. The best part of this stay was the hospitality of Manju & his family. He arranged everything for me! Safaris, lifts, day trips to all the temples & sights around the cultural triangle. We saw wild elephants ,waterbuffalos, monkeys, colours birds, dragons, everything! I really saw so much in a short stay. The breakfast and dinners were also delicious & huge portions! The homestay is off the beaten track but is situated perfectly for walks around the area. I highly recommend Manju's place as a base for your cultural triangle exploration.Thank you & best of luck in the future, Manju & Family! 🤍 There really isn't much - the only thing I would suggest it a table or something to put backpacks on so they are not on the floor. This is not a big deal but would just add the final touch to the room! 🙂

Breakfasts were big and delicious, we also had a dinner and it was even bigger and tasty. The room and the terrace was very spacious and clean. • Claudia (8/5): Nice rooms, friendly staff - Nice rooms and verandas, friendly staff that help you organize scooter rental and activities. Also gives you lots of ideas of things to do. It’s outside of town so nice and quiet It’s a bit out of town which is fine if you want to rent a scooter or take a tuk tuk everywhere! Or you could probably rent a bicycle too. A bit hot in the room. There were power outages both days I was there which really isn’t their fault but was inconvenient.

Very friendly and helpful and offered home cooked food which was great. Manju also recommended a safari which was different to our plans, but we went with what he said and ended up seeing 150-200 elephants which was amazing!

• Louna (10/5): A peaceful place with nice family - The place is very quiet, in the nature but still close to the city center by walk or tuktuk (and Manju car drive you to the restaurant). The room is very large (bed and bathroom are XXL !!) and so clean. Manju and his wife are absolutely nice and the food is excellent. I had my best khottu here for a very good price. I enjoyed a lot my stay here. They always carry about how you feel and asking if you need something. I recommend a lot. Thank you so much.
• Karen (10/5): Exceptional - It’s quiet with a beautiful garden but located a short walk from a small village which has small shops and a few places to eat. Manju will happily advise you on all the things to do in the area and arrange whatever you want. Want a tuk tuk? To do a safari in one of the national parks? To go see sunset or an ancient city? To go and try and spot a slender loris on a night walk? Manju will sort it for you. The breakfasts I had were delicious. An excellent place to stay!
