- Tasha (8/5): Fantastic self contained cottage close to campus - Friendly welcome on arrival at reception.
Fantastic self contained cottage, ideal for visiting the university and very close to bus stops on Penglais Road
Appreciated the dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid/handwash. I managed to arrange a Tesco delivery for the evening of my arrival to save lugging shopping up the hill.
There’s a washing machine, tumble dryer and large fridge/freezer in the outbuilding if required. I didn’t make use but handy to know The first thing seen on entering through the garden gate was an overflowing box of wine bottles for recycling from a previous guest!
Very dusty floors and the kitchen worktops not as clean as would be ideal (toaster crumbs on the side) but I always take antibacterial wipes when staying away so I cleaned before I cooked. Could’ve done with a tea towel to dry my mug and spoon on the last morning, I felt bad leaving them to dry on the drainer!
The bed could do with a deeper mattress (wooden sides of bed dig into legs when sitting on the edge) and the pillows are very basic (flat) but as it was just me I used 3 but if sharing I’d be fighting for more! Oh and the bedside lamp nearest the door didn’t work
A personal taste bugbear was the occasional tables in the lounge being ring stained and I really wanted to buy a new rug because the one there just doesn’t go with the decor!
Having said all this, there’s nothing to stop me returning and I’ve already booked again for next year
- Tom (6/5): - Easy and quick check-in. Bed and shower were good and clean and the lodge has almost everything you'd want for a short stay. The place needs a good clean. There's dust everywhere and some parts of the property were noticably dirty. All sorts of bugs around the entrance. Lack of toiletries, including handwash.
- Julia (5/5): Nice property spoiled by uncomfortable furnishings - The layout of the property worked well and was reasonably spacious The mattress wasn’t good and after 2 nights woke to extreme back pain. I had to sleep on it a third night making my 5 hour drive home the next day difficult. The sofas were equally uncomfortable. As it’s owned by the university it seems to have been kitted out with the same items students get. Fine if you’re young, but middle aged a bit more comfort is required.
- Helen (5/5): Basic place to stay overpriced in its current state. The garden could be lovely but is neglected and the house needs som - It’s in a good location. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. University staff very pleasant. I had no hot water from Weds night until Fri afternoon despite reporting the problem on Thurs morning. You can’t use one of the side gates into the property as it’s overgrown with brambles. The garden could be lovely but is being rewilded/neglected eg large sycamore saplings are growing in the stone wall with steps down to the house. The first thing you see outside the front door is a green plastic box which is a rodent killer. There is an ant killer on the right inside the front door and fly and ant sprays on the left. However despite these warnings there was no sign of any rodents, ants or flies! All occasional tables in the living room have ring marks and the dining table had clearly had something sticky spilled on it- I cleaned it. The fridge was not clean and smelt of onions but I did not need to use it so did not clean that. There was dust in various places, black mould along the skirting board under the window in the bedroom and one of the bedside lights didn’t work. It could be lovely. It needs looking after properly.
- Linda (5/5): - Location was perfect, kitchen facilities excellent, great bathroom & shower. Great to have tv & channels to watch! No Fire escape, only one door in the property. Health & Safety issue!!
Mattress on the bed was too small & thin, not the right mattress for the bed, so very uncomfortable to sleep in!
Only 1 bath towel per person supplied, no hand towels or tea towels!
- Peter (8/5): Comfortable - Nice, comfortable cottage. Lovely sitting room. Kitchen well equipped. Outhouse with washer and dryer. Bed on the small side. Crap pillows. The sitting room is quite dark. Longish walk into the town. Shame the garden wasn't looked after.
- Julia (8/5): - Attend son graduation so location is perfect. Flat is clean and comfy. Kitchen well equipped, so ideal to cook if need. Very limited amenities provided. Would be good to list what amenities it provides when do booking. Especially if check in late at night!
- Koen (8/5): Very good - It's literally next to the university, perfect for a conference. It's also quite cozy. The town itself was quite the walk. The hill was getting annoying after a few times.
- Kaz (9/5): Superb -
- Judith (7/5): Nice stay on Wales coast - The property is run by the University and is across from it, on a busy road.
Accommodation was clean and the lounge/dining areas were spacious and comfortable.
Kitchen was small but functionable. Bed was a little uncomfortable and small for us, we needed to buy our own pillows as theirs were not very good.
Property is on a busy road and access is quite narrow to drive into.
- Trevor (10/5): Clean and comfy would recommend to anyone who wanted to visit the surrounding areas - Location was great for getting to Aberystwyth and surrounding areas Some people might find it a bit difficult if you have mobility issues
- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (7/5): Very nice stay ,lovely and warm lodge. - Did not have breakfast
- James (9/5): Superb - Everything. All was good, maybe a nice thick carpet in the bedroom instead of hardwood flooring throughout but that's just personal preference.
- Steve (9/5): Superb -
