- Lynette (8/5): Beautifully Restored House with Old School Charm. - This is a beautifully restored house with old school hotel charm. The staff were friendly, breakfast was delicious and the room was neat, clean and comfortable. Everything about the room was excellent, except the thin, white curtains which made it impossible to have a late sleep. Perhaps adding blackout curtains or a blind would be an option which would maintain the look of the room and keep the sunlight out.

- Diana Santoro (10/5): A little oasis - We were so warmly welcomed by Willem and shown around the cottage, so fantastic that they offer dinner and breakfast so we decided to eat it. We were travelling with our 2 dogs so asked if our dinner could be brought to us. What an amazing meal! So tasty and beautifully presented, and they brought us sparkling wine all in, we felt so spoiled. The lodge is set in beautiful gardens with lush green lawns and is a stunning old building.

Lovely hosts and staff You need a car with good ground clearance. Thank goodness I brought my SUV and not my normal car. Room had light shine through door windows. No tea or coffee in the room

- Tiffany (9/5): Rustic Olde-Worlde Charm - We stayed in a self- catering cottage with lovely wooden vintage furniture. It was quite rustic with sandstone finishes, but very attractive. The bed had such beautifully clean white linen on it that it looked new. When I looked at some of the other rooms, I noticed all the linen was so beautifully white. The breakfast coat a fair amount, but it was so worth it. My parents stayed at this venue years ago and said it had one of the best breakfasts they had ever eaten. We had the same experience - the meal was very flavourful and had a lot of variety. We tried everything because it all tasted so good. The dining room was beautifully set and it was well worth the extra money. There was a bit of a slip up in that there was no soap, but this was remedied the next morning with profuse apologies. It would have been nice to have some emergency phone numbers available in the event of an emergency.

- Verlaque (2/5): The service in the bar was slow and unfriendly, the meal was good. - The property has a wonderful view and potential to be a wonderful place for a family stop over or get away. The rooms are unmaintained the steps to get to the chalets are uneven and dangerous, there was no water so showering and flushing the toilet is impossible , and the animal's look undernourished.

Willem and Monique made us feel very welcome. Bringing fresh coffee to us in the morning was so welcome. I liked the old restored house with high ceilings and old creaky floors but it’s not going to suit all people. The road up to the house is a little rough.

They were very accommodating towards our little jack russell aswell. The room, location and everything else was amazing with beautifull mountains behind us. In the main house there is a family room which we didn’t stay in but it looks absolutely cosy. We stayed in the cottages next door which were also really nice with their own fire place. - Lise-jo (10/5): A phenomenal stay in Zastron! - This is an absolute gem of a spot in Zastron! The facilities are excellent, the staff is wonderful and the lodge itself is so comfortable and welcoming. I loved the way that the heritage of the house was still intact, whilst the facilities were modern. The space was spotlessly clean, the linen was great quality and the breakfast offered in the morning was fantastic. Just the condition of the roads leading into Zastron. There's absolutely nothing the lodge could do about this though; just a point for future guests. Be patient and go slowly. Otherwise this spot is a 12/10!

We were greeted on arrival and everything regarding the accommodation was shown and explained to us. The breakfast was fabulous and could put most highly stared hotels to shame. Maybe prior knowledge that the roads leading to the property are not tared. There is also a challenge with the water supply and colour. The shower could possibly do with a bigger or second curtain.
