Guest Reviews
- Melina (10/5): - This has been the best authentic stay we could have wished for. Very comfortable, extremeöy friendly and supportive staff. We had the best time!
- Diana (10/5): -
- Sanja (10/5): Great hosts and great place with history - Location, atmosphere, great and very helpful host!
- Andrea (10/5): Un soggiorno stupendo e staff super - Stupendo Nulla
- Marie (10/5): Enchanting authentic Hanok stay - The 450 yo hanok, was so beautiful and relaxing, it felt out of the place being there. We arrived late because of traffic and the host waited for us to show us around which we are super thankful. The breakfast was delicious with a view on the traditional folk village of Andong Hahoe! Though the hanok is old, the bathroom was quite recent with all amenities you might need. Nothing really it was an awesome stay
- Azad (10/5): Best part of my trip to South Korea. - The honourable history of the property.
The beautiful architecture of the property’s interior and exterior.
The secluded location and sounds of nature.
The comfort of the rooms.
The breakfast.
The hospitality of the host. Nothing.
- Milica (10/5): Wonderful staying and highly to recommend - Traditional hanok surrounded with calm river and threes, quiet, comfortable, exceptionally clean, magical.
The host was very kind and welcoming, sent all necessary information and was very helpful.
The breakfast was amazing, delicious and healthy, the best I had during my trip in Korea.
- Carmen Rebeca (10/5): Loved our time there ! - Beautiful place! Full of history and peace . Very close to Hahoe village and tradition . Breakfast extra delicious!
- Susan (10/5): - The building is beautiful, with lovely views to the Hahoe village. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful!
- Elise (10/5): Amazing stay - The all property is amazing, the historic buildings are beautiful and its such a nice location on top of Buyongdae cliffs.
The owner was really welcoming and contacted us beforehand via WhatsApp to give us directions and even offer to pick us up if needed. We came by car from Hahoe village, its just a 10' drive.
The room is comfortable, we sleep really well on the futon with the floor heating.
We got outdoor shoes to walk around the property easily. Like to get to the bathroom that is a the entrance gate.
Breakfast was amazing, tasty and for us big quantity.
We really enjoyed our stay 🙂
- raphael (10/5): -
- Maria Teresa (10/5): - Proprietario davvero gentilissimo, è venuto a prenderci al villaggio in auto.
Bellissima esperienza dormire in un hanok.
Colazione spettacolare
- Albalucia (9/5): Amazing :) - This place is purely magical. The atmosphere is incredible and you can breathe and live the real Korean culture. The owner has been so helpful and kind! We received two bottles of rice wine that the family made since years, and he accomodate any needs and anything for our little 3 years old girl. The location is magical but there is no way to move unless you book taxis ( Again the owner was very very kind to drive us to the village and back more than once ) but maybe you should plan your days here with that in mind
- Hyunjin (10/5): Highly recommended for people who want a genuine hanok experience - The view and ambience was amazing. It was a bit cold in March.
- Cameron (10/5): Peaceful - The breakfast was the best food I had during my entire trip, and it was served and setup in such a peaceful environment. It was perfect.
- Lisa (10/5): -

- Ines (10/5): Gorgeous house - Gorgeous house with a great view. The host was great and the breakfast was delicious.
- Elena (10/5): - Super disponibilità e gentilezza del proprietario
- Isabelle (10/5): -
Nulla, tutto bellissimo.
- György (9/5): Perfect to suck in the Korean traditions - An ancient hanok on the riverbank. Beautiful surroundings, comfortable futons, very nice owner. Traditional Korean breakfast, sitting on the floor… what else should I say? -
- yangjin (10/5): -
- Nicole (10/5): This is a historical property, which is why we chose it. The breakfast is awesome, and the host made sure we were taken -
- Mija (10/5): Hervorragend!
Danke!!!!
- Gina (9/5): A real authentic experience in the hanok village - The staff was very helpful and friendly. They served Korean breakfast. It was really delicious and they took into account any need. They even gave us a bottle of rice wine when we left. It really felt authentic. The bridge connecting to the hanok village is not accessible and the restrooms (still private, clean, and with all one needs) are in a separate area from the sleeping rooms. It was raining so it was a bit uncomfortable to get there during night
- Libby D (10/5): An amazing stay in a historical building - An amazingly beautiful historic building with jaw dropping view and extremely helpful friendly owner
- Andrea (10/5): -
- Yossi (9/5): -
- Rosa Maria (10/5): Best place ever - The breakfast is a piece of art, delicious. The location is amazingly beautiful. If you have lost your peace of mind, they give it back to you. Best place in every sense.
- oudi (8/5): - The view, Hospitality. A quiet and pleasant place. Didn't suit our style. Access to the bathroom and shower problematic. Breakfast only for those who like the style.
- Emanuele (9/5): -
- Matteo (8/5): -
- Leandro (10/5): Amazing stay highly recommend it - I was very honored to stay a property belonging to the same family for 16th generation. The room was nice and clean, has AC, open WiFi and the bathroom is new and modern.
The family is super kind, drove me to the bus station and picked me up from the village.
The breakfast is the highlight of the trip Nothing
- Maéva (10/5): -
- Margit (10/5): Másnak is ajánlanám. - A hangulata és a vendéglátás minősége
- Cha (10/5): -
Colazione ricca e tradizionale. Esperienza da fare.
- xavier (9/5): -
- Gebeco (9/5): Una bona bona experiència si saps les limitacions d’aquest tipus d’allotjament - Ambient tranquil. Molt bon esmorzar. Experiència d’un allotjament tradicional
- Vincent (10/5): Unique stay near Hahoe Village - The location of this property is amazing. It is an old house of the Joseon dynasty but it is even part of the UNESCO World Heritage side , how unique. Beside from staying in this property, the location is great. It’s so quite overlooking the river.
I had a fantastic Korean breakfast also in a typical Joseon setting. Wonderful.
Last but not least the help from the owner. Hij booked me tickets for the Fire Festival cause as a foreigner I couldn’t. He made sure I had cash since my Mastercard wasn’t working, he was my translator on call when the taxi driver didn’t understand where to go even when I showed him the map and he took me to the bus stop. He was really helpful on my first stay in South-Korea. Very much appreciated! Without a doubt I recommend this place.
- Michela (9/5): -

- Beata (10/5): Historic and beautiful - The place is fantastic, beautiful surroundings; lots of nature and green; The place is historic with all the consequences, such as a bathroom outside; the breakfast is traditional Korean - delicious; the staff super friendly picked me up at the folk village and drove to the bus stop next day. On my list of the most interesting places to stay.
- Nathaniel (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing experience in this traditional house. Great location on the river. The hosts and breakfast were outstanding.
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional - The most outstanding accomodation experience. For a history lover i could not have asked for more. The hosts were welcoming and looked after us. Pick up and drop off offered to and from accommodation from folk villiage every day. Bedding super comfortable. Air-conditioner worked well. Bathroom very clean and the toiletries provided were great quality.
Breakfast was outstanding and the drip coffee bags were very welcomed.
We were given the family made makegoli as a present.
The views were serene and beautiful. It really felt like I had gone back in time.
Please please stay here, it is so worth it. No nearby dinner options but hosts happily took us to local GS25 for snacks.
- Leon (10/5): Exceptional - We felt very honored to stay at a place that has been in the family for 16 generations! It was a beautiful experience to watch the river flow by and hear nothing but the sounds of nature. The host was very helpful and organized many things for us, which we greatly appreciated.
- Edi (10/5): We loved this magical place and its stunning views! - It has been an amazing experience. You have to really stay in this place as it is magical with all its history, quietness and views!
Seunghwan was very kind and he orgenized a taxi for us to the train station and he also drove us to the village. We were also upgraded and had a whole house just for ourselves. The breakfests were very tasty and plenty. Really so not hesitate to stay in this place on the other side of the river even if you do not have a car, like we did not, and it was not a problem at all.
Plus the futon beds were very comfortable :)
Thank you for everything! All was perfect.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brendon (9/5): Superb - Lovely breakfast. A really authentic experience in a very beautiful setting. Highly recommend. So glad we booked here.
- Miguel (10/5): Exceptional - Do local e do edifício. Excelente
- Barbara (9/5): Superb - A ancient jewel. A traditional hanok that can accommodate only seven guests located on the cliff opposite Hahoe Folk Village. The rooms and facilities are simple. Extraordinarily relaxing and good for the soul.
- Maria (10/5): Okyeon Jeongsa Pavilion: A Journey to the Heart of History and Serenity - My sister and I stayed at Okyeon Jeongsa Pavilion beggining of April and had a wonderful experience. The location is perfect, right across the river from Andong’s folk village, surrounded by nature and blooming cherry trees. The room was very comfortable, with traditional futons on the floor, and everything was clean and well maintained. The atmosphere was peaceful and authentic. Breakfast was a highlight: a delicious traditional Korean meal served in a private room. The host, a descendant of the original family in the 16th generation, was very welcoming. A unique and memorable stay! I only regret that we stayed for just two days. If I have the chance to visit again, I would definitely stay longer to enjoy it even more.
- Van (10/5): Beautiful house - Beautiful famous hanok house, friendly host, perfect location, a lot of attractions nearby, free easy parking
- Valerie (10/5): excellent experience - a wonderful place. one night was too short to enjoy the peace at this place. The breakfast was great.
- Boyd (10/5): Lovely historic guest house - We enjoyed the tranquility of the place and beautiful vista and the history surrounding the guest house. Very authentic and traditional. Our host was very friendly and welcoming and breakfast was charming. Very worth a visit if you like a change of pace
- Ivy (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet and peaceful stay at this traditional hanok. Clean and well equipped facilities. Host Seunghwan is attentive and ensures our needs are met. Breakfast is fantastic. None
- Rikkertrik (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, historic house in a fabulous location, close to Hahoe Village. Seunghwan is a fantastic host.
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing peaceful historical hanok stay, we loved our two night stay at Okyeon Pavillion. The Korean breakfast was delicious and was a great start to the day. Seunghwan was a lovely host and was very accommodating. Highly recommend staying here when in Andong to experience a piece of history.
- Ashley (8/5): Even with a bit of inconvenience, the house was still magical and the breakfast was homely. - The view from the house and how well maintained it was. The bathroom could’ve been better ie it stank and the door to get in was quite low.
- Ting (10/5): Exceptional - Very traditional Location is a little hard to get a taxi
- Sam (10/5): Perfect - The buildings, the surroundings, the host and the food were all excellent.
- Jade (10/5): The highlight of our time in Hahoe Folk Village. - Our expectations were high for this charming little hanok, but it still managed to exceed those expectations! The hanok itself and the views out over the river are gorgeous, and it's just a short walk down to the water for a stroll, or up the path to the clifftop for stunning sunset views over Hahoe Folk Village across the river. The homemade breakfast was SO delicious, the rooms were comfortable (those heated floors kept us nice and toasty even in November!), and the bathrooms, though in a separate building from the room we stayed in, were modern and well-insulated and had all the amenities we needed. Best of all were our hosts, who were incredibly generous, helpful, and accommodating, going far above and beyond to ensure our travel was smooth and our stay was enjoyable. This is truly such a special place, and we cannot recommend it enough! As others have mentioned, some may find it inconvenient to have to go outside in order to reach the bathrooms, so know your own comfort level before you book—we felt it was a small thing to sacrifice in order to stay in such a wonderful place filled with so much history and beauty!
- Simon (10/5): A lifetime opportunity to stay in an authentic Hanok pavilion steeped in true Korean history - A lifetime opportunity to stay in an authentic Hanok pavilion with hundreds of years of history.
Really unique. The setting under the cliffs and across the river from the Hanoe village provides a peaceful, almost spiritual setting to stay a night or 2, in a historic setting.
The experience is something a modern hotel could never ever match. Don't expect modern 5 star luxury; it's more of a 'glamping' experience, but the facilities are fine.
- Loo (7/5): Good - The location of the resort was a little remote and not so easy to get to unless you drive or have a special limousine/taxi to take you there. These old ancient Korean houses were made for smaller people of the past so one need to bend down and be careful not to knock your heads when trying to enter a room. And the steps to the bedroom and dining area are rather high.
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing building and lovely and cosy. A special place to stay with my family for a night.
- Antonio (10/5): Perfect for visiting folk village in An-dong - The accommodation is great. It is right next to the river and the folk village, which provides great atmosphere.
- Lee (8/5): A great hanok experience with friends for a one night stay. - The mackerel breakfast was good. The toilet for the deluxe room is a little inconvenient to be accessible in the middle of the night. Located outside and a distance away in another part of the house.
- Simon (10/5): Outstanding experience of the Korean historical life with a modern touch of luxury - Absolutely stunning place if you want to sleep in a historical Korean house. From the communication, to the pickup and drop off over the vegetarian breakfast cooked by the grandmother and served on a traditional low table and the nice hand made rice wine as a gift. Thanks for the lovely stay! Could have mentioned the location of the bathroom towels - unfortunately only found them the next morning.
- Kyu (9/5): Superb -
- Crafthouse (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kaiyun (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful house and awesome view. No,
- Andreas (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was helpful beyond expectations and continuously available throughout our stay. The place has a lovely atmosphere and a beautiful view. It should be noted that the place is only accessible by car (either your own, taxi or pick-up from Hahoe folk village).
- T (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mattia (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful - Extremely nice host, beautiful peaceful place near to Hahoe village, delicious typical breakfast
