Guest Reviews
- Kathleen (6/5): Location was ok - Last minute booking the owner was very accommodating allowing us to check in early It was over priced for the type of accomodations
It was self check in We were given the wrong code twice

- Guy (4/5): Never again - Extremely small in comparison to the pictures. The shower down below is a complete joke, look at the rest of the reviews. They are spot on! Terrible bathroom, don’t stay longer than a night if you can help it
- Deborah (7/5): Great period property for people that want the hustle and hustle. - It's a beautiful rustic property, it's in a great location, it's very good value, has all the basics you need. Olivia was easily contactable, and had excellent communication.
But it was not for me, but that's no fault of the hosts. See below 👇The bed was also good quality I had come to get away for peace, quiet and sunshine.
It was too dark inside for me, and the restaurant was noisy as it was the Christmas holidays, not my favourite time of year so not good hearing Christmas songs on a loop!
You also have to walk through diners to access the front door as the tables are on the pavement! It was just too much for me. This is no reflection upon the host. I just chose wrong for my needs.
- Emma (9/5): Superb - The location was amazing and the bedroom was stunning. We booked this accommodation for 1 night for a specific reason so it was such a disappointment that the event we booked it for was cancelled.
- Joe (5/5): Passable -
- Luke (2/5): Good if the bathroom mold (June 2024) is resolved. Unacceptable until then. - Upstairs area is pleasant with a sufficient air conditioner. It is located in a town square with multiple restaurants, a short walk to the waterfront. The bathroom had mold. The host sent a cleaner the next day. The cleaner did a surface cleaning yet did not successfully remove the mold in the bathroom. It needs a deep cleaning, yet is likely endemic as the shower isn't enclosed (causing water to go everywhere) and it's a dim room without ventilation (and exposed stone).
- Sally (7/5): We loved it! The accommodation offers a very comfortable, central base, but a few quirks! - Very central, being just off the main Victory Square. Accommodation had all the essentials. Large, comfortable double bed with decent quality linen. Exposed stone walls, for a rustic, aged appearance, very much in keeping with the typical Malta stone buildings. Downstairs quite basic, but it has everything you need. Accommodation is 2 mins walk to the water-taxi (Euro 2) to head over to Valetta and to a bus stop outside the ice cream shop. Just 15-20 mins walk to Rinella Bay, for nearest beach/sea swimming. Very close to the Palaccio Huesca restaurant, which is fantastic, and the Cafe de Brazil, highly recommended for an inexpensive & decent lunch. Under 30 mins from Valetta / approx' 50 mins to Sliema / 20 mins by bus to Marsaxala (great beaches). Poor communication from the property owners/letting agency. Had to chase them for arrival arrangements & details (& even had to first use the Customer Support of the booking agency to step in for a contact name, telephone number and email. All fine in the end but it was quite last minute, and it would have been better if they had been more pro-active. Downside of accommodation itself - it is located right next to a restaurant (=noise), so good quality ear-plugs are an essential piece of kit to drown out the music playing and noisy chatter of diners! An additional towel would be appreciated (each guest gets x1 big/x1 small). And the drainage in the bathroom needs some attention, as water goes all over the floor when taking a shower. I guess the large floor 'squeegy' propped up against the wall should have given the game away about that!! Note also that Birgu has a lack of any 'convenience shops' for everyday essentials required for self-catering holidays. We used the fab 'Arkadia', in Valetta. Avoid the very 'touristy' places if you hate crowds. Seek out the many rocky beaches for unspoilt swimming/snorkelling.
- Robert (3/5): Very disappointing given the access issue and the poor state of the furniture - It was very well located. We could not access the key on the first night and the owner did not answer the phone so we were stranded. Local people helped us find a room. It cost us 50 euro. The owner said he would repay us but didn’t. The apartment needs improvement-just clean but could be better. The bathroom was very poor and the furniture old and worn.
