- Anthony (6/5): Wanted to like it, but not worth the price - Stayed in cabin 9. Room was clean, but the hot tub was digusting with a layer of brown slime. The hot tub didn’t get very hot and apparently was put into sleep mode by prior occupants. Fixed, once I complained the next night, but only got one night of use out of 3. The bed was very uncomfortable on one side because there were no supports due to a trundle bed underneath. First night we froze as there were no instructions on how to turn the heat on. Poor communication overall. Water pressure was weak and you had to run the water for 20 minutes before it got hot enough to shower. Very expensive for what you get, stay at a reputable hotel instead.

- Wyatt (8/5): Close but pretty quiet - We have a newly remodeled cottage and it was very nice and clean! The staff we encountered were friendly. The roads on property were a bit rough but at lease the cottage we stayed in was lovely and would stay there again. Only about a 5-10 min drive into bar harbor and about 10-17 min from Acadia national park.

- Lameeka (8/5): - Hinckleys was just what we needed as a base camp for pur Acadia Adventure. Less than a 5 minute drive to the visitor center and 10 minutes to downtiwn bar harbor. Checkin was a breeze. Amenities were fully sticked in the room upon arrival. Im unsure if the hot tub was properly cleaned because it had an algae smell on the 2nd night. Also, the driveways are all gravel and the site has a lot of potholes so beware of your tires! Overall a greta stay and would recommend for families.
- Kevin (8/5): Dog friendly cabins near Bar Harbor - A very dog friendly venue, which was a key consideration in my selection. The cabins are fine. While near a main road road (Rt 3), the traffic noise was not bad. The kitchen/dining area was pretty small, but fine for simple food prep. There were outdoor grills and tables ( which we didn’t use). As a base to go to the park and into Bar Harbor for meals, it worked out well. There was space to walk the dog around near the cabins under the trees, on the grass and in some small wooded areas. The property is undergoing some upgrades ( as of Sept 2025).
- Stephen (10/5): - Cute, clean cabin with extra linens and blankets. Very clean kitchen and bathroom. The only downside is the driveway is rough as others have mentioned, and our cabin was a little hard to park by due to a large tree stump. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Pricing and location were excellent.
- Andrea (10/5): - I absolutely loved the renovated cottage number 7 I stayed in! The shower was amazing and the private hot tub on the back deck was so relaxing! The guy at the front desk was very pleasant as well…..I will definitely stay again next year :)
- Janice (6/5): - Very nostalgic. The cabins reminded me of my youth in the 70's and my travels back then. The cabin we were in leaned to one side. Issues with TV and remote. Overall was nice except for the nonstop rain (not their fault). We would probably go back.

- ROBERT (8/5): - Older, but well kept cabins. Newly renovated bathroom was nice. Kitchen was small. Close to the main road into Bar Harbor so traffic noise could be an issue if you’re not used to it. Pool was not open as it was being renovated. Fire pit was propane not real wood. Staff was helpful even though they would not budge on the the pet fee. Expedia listed the room as pet friendly with no mention of an additional fee, but they insisted on charging $35 per night or $100 flat fee for a 12 lb, non-shedding cockapoo.

- Gina (6/5): False advertising - This is a hard review. On Hotels website it looked renovated and cute. Our cabin was anything but that. We didnt complain because it was clean and felt safe but what a dump #8 cabin is. Upon checkout the manager said if we had complained he would moved us to a renovated unit. Too little too late. The location was great while visiting Acadia NP. The pool is under construction too. The manager says Hotels pulled pictures from their website and they were trying to be more transparent. I am not loading pictures because they are pretty bad and that doesnt reflect the whole property.

- Laurel (4/5): Cabin was musty smelling and blankets were dirty - We were put in cabin number eight and we’re very disappointed. The bedspread had stains on it. The curtains had stains on them. It was so musty smelling our clothes smelled for a week after we got home even though I put them outside on our porch. Other cabins there have been cleaned up, but not this one. Make sure you are not put in cabin number eight.

- Tina (2/5): - I was under the impression that these were private cabins. We shared a wall with another guest. We heard their dog barking. And I was awake all night to a clicking sound coming from the heater. The room smelled bad. The bed was super uncomfortable. The only good thing was we arrived after the office closed. I called and let them know I was on my way and they left the keys for us in a lockbox. Thank goodness it was for only one night.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Not the cute/rustic cabins you think they are. - We stayed in the Junior “Deluxe” Cabin aka 5A. The pictures online were not associated to any cabin they just have all the pictures on the site, or was labeled by name instead of number so you really don’t know what you’re getting. We asked our neighbors and they said they didn’t get what they booked either. The pictures I saw associated to our cabin, showed a full kitchen and we only had a microwave and mini fridge. There’s about 2 inches of clearance above and below the door so you could see outside. The water pex pipes to the cottage are ran above ground. There was no hand soap so we asked for some and they said they were out and getting some the next day. They never brought it we got our own. They did have some very nice looking cabins online but buyer beware. We will definitely be back to bar harbor but not back to Hinckley’s. We did book because it was cheaper but not that much cheaper. It really put a damper on our stay and we almost cut our losses and went somewhere else. It was smaller than a super 8. There is a communal fire pit that was under repair and the pool looked like it had never been serviced before.
- ANGELA (8/5): - The cottage was clean, parking is tight and road to cottages is rough. We couldn’t figure out the volume to the tv and the flames in the fire places didn’t work the heat did. Just minor issues. If you’re looking for a place to sleep the location is good to go into bar harbor town and Acadia park.
- Laurel (4/5): Musty smelly cabin - Cabin number eight smelled musty. The air freshener we bought didn’t help at all. Curtains were dirty. Stains on the wallpaper. It wasn’t cheap either. I’d take a pass on Hinckleys until they clean up all of their cabins.
- Ryk (2/5): - Do not rent from this property without first researching the many reviews that exist for it on different websites. My very poor ratings are based on its high price coupled with the following comments. We chose for proximity to Bar Harbor at a seemingly reasonable price. Very old, very cold at night, shear/see-thru drapes, door with air gap at top and inoperable deadbolt, all appliances (Micro, toaster, coffee maker) all plugged into single outlet. Attempted to use toaster in morning, which set off smoke alarm. Outside views show incomplete and decayed exteriors of other cottages, and swimming pool that appears to have been abandoned while under construction. Asked twice for owner to call me about our Expedia 4-day deal, but never called. We purchased other accommodations after the first nite. After searching other reviews on numerous sites, I discovered that this is pretty common reaction to this property.

We can find one or two pots/pans that are not severely scratched to make some meals (a lot of places we stayed don't have any pans that are in good condition). The location is good as it is close to the visitor center. The staff is also nice, we needed an extra blanket at around 10 pm, and they were still able to assist with that even though it has been past their office hour.

- Eric (10/5): - It could be easy to list all the things this property wasn't... instead I'll concentrate on what it was. My first unit was renovated... simple, no frills but checked off every anticipated box. So much so that when my visit expired, i asked for an additional day. I was offered 2 units, one renovated and one rustic. I took rustic and saves 75$. It was just fine. Reminded me of the cottage from the 50s...1 room plus bathroom. Money was reasonable for the area... not going to get cheaper unless you're using a tent. That is the facts. Wonderful interactions with management too!

- Virginia (10/5): - This is a refurbished property with many little cabins like you had in the 50's and 60's. Our cabin had wood paneling and a mice kitchenette. It was in good repair and comfortable. The tiny porch was screened in and pleasant . Staff were friendly and helpful.
- maryam (6/5): - Our first night stay at the property was horrible! We checked in to a smelly and not clean room. The sheet and pillow cover had stain and was not clean! The AC was old and working properly. The next morning got in touch with Expedia customer service to request a refund and to move us to another hotel! After couple of phone calls with customer service and discussing the poor condition of the room the guest service at the property offered us another room for the additional two days/ nights of our stay. The new room was very clean and did not have any issues. It seems the property was acquired by a new owner and they are doing renovations one cottage at a time. So your stay experience differs by the cottage is given to you! Location was good as it is about 10 min drive to Bar Harbor and very close to Acadia park entrance.
- NANCY (6/5): Outside and in two different worlds - As picture illustrates property appears pre WW2 but rooms kept up surprisingly very well, Bath room especially - very cheerful, modern and clean. "Kitchen" definitely quite small but more than adequate and nicely stocked for 4. Outdated Curtains need to be replaced. Bed was comfortable. Outside the property was in need of work. Tree roots heaved the pavement so badly that 5MPH was literally the max tolerable speed. Office personnel very responsive and helpful.

- Mark (8/5): - Its an older property and that's just a fact. Having said that, we had a very good experience. Two separate bedrooms with bunkbeds in one for the kids. Also a small functional kitchen with stove, fridge and microwave, as well as glassware and utensils. This cabin was ideal for families.

There’s a lot nicer places to stay for about the same amount. It’s just one of those things you learn after you’ve visited for your first time.
- Marie (2/5): Do not book these cabins - We ended up checking in and then leaving & going to Hampton Inn in Bar Harbor. The photos in the ad were very misleading. When we arrived after dark, the front porch at Cabin 1 light was not working & we had a hard time seeing to get into cabin. The furniture in main area was very worn. There were bugs in bedrooms, and the entire cabin smelled very bad, musty & moldy. The swimming pool was covered with tarp & had concrete blocks holding them down. We asked for a refund even for day 2 of our stay, but got no response from management. Stay away from these cabins.
- Lawrence (6/5): Out of Date - The place was clean. Property definitely needs some trees removed and many repairs throughout. For example, the hot water handle broken on shower. Unsatisfied with this . No coffee maker as advertised, Small fixes that make a difference. Cottage 5, not worth it. Early in season, had all winter to get right
- NORENA (4/5): - The lady on the desk was the only good thing that happened to us on this stay. She was very pleasant. There were a lot of things we were displeased about. The cottage we stayed was very old, the screen on the porch was broken. Cold air was coming in on side with the AC unit as it was only covered by a board. My son’s bathroom had inverted hot/cold controls which took him a while and wasted too much water. The other bathroom sink knobs were rusty. It was totally not we expected from what was posted from Expedia. Although, the other bedroom was newly painted and only the walls looked clean. Overall, I have to give 1 STAR just for the front desk lady! Can’t endorse this place at all!!!
