Guest Reviews
- Lentswe (10/5): - The bed Nothing
- Madelein (10/5): -
- Sixolisiwe (6/5): It was alright because I wasn't in the property all the time. However, it was a little disappointing - The images used for the property are from a long time ago; the pool was not working, and the couch was not as comfortable. There was no generator in the event of loadshedding or power outage.
- Ncoco (1/5): Horrible&inconvenienced, I will never refer anyone. I had to cancel my stay & leave the place angry. - I did not like anything; the pictures are deceiving. There is a small kitchen counter with a 1-plate stove. Bad location, and the worst part is that I booked for 1 bedroom with a lounge on booking.com, but on arrival I was told that it is not available and there is another guest. On the host side, she said it showed that I booked for the 1 room at the back of the house; she had names for these rooms at the back of the house. Terrible inconvenience, I was taken for a ride, and I hate it. Hlengiwe has the audacity to argue and exchange messages as if she is giving a service that she displays on booking.com. I wanted to support a Black woman in business, but I was taken for a ride to sleep in a rainy room with no flooring, and she would pretend all is well. It took 5 days of my patience in a horrible state, sleeping in such an uncomfortable bed and room. She still wants to charge me for 10 days when I canceled the booking after 5 days. You expected me to continue sleeping in a room with rain and a concrete floor with a broken window? I even asked Hlengiwe to close the hole on the broken window [see pictures with white tape]. See the window seal where she put towels as the heavy rain was coming through the whole window. I could not even sit outside; there was no view from the backroom. Outside in front of the door, the bush flower was full of bees. You want people to be kind in reviews, and you don't know how to be kind and honest in your advertisements and service. I hate to be tricked and taken for a ride like you did, and with subtle apologies, knowing you will not change a thing but playing with time for days to go by, wanting to charge me with false dates. This is very disrespectful to a guest. Booked 20-30 Nov 2025, I left 25th Nov, the stay was horrible. Booking.com states that it's the host who must change it. Don't mislead people with wrong dates
See these video clips for yourselves.
https://youtu. False representation: Scam, All that is mentioned about the property on booking.com is not true. No cleaning services, no change of linen, no bathrobe, no sleepers, no tiled flooring; the floor of this 1 room is cement floor painted with a white paint, no swimming pool [a hole with no water] Bad location; I was misled on the booking.com site. Orange Groove area is not written, I would not have booked it if it showed, I went to the 1st address not known. She sends a msg after booking to give the right address; Room with a broken window, door with big gaps with draft coming through, leaking roof; it was raining daily, and water was coming inside the room, and the curtains were damp with water daily. One day a lizard came through into the room at night, I called her to come and take it out, she came with her daughter, pretended there was no lizard maybe it ran out, I insisted that they push the bed, she refused, I pushed the bed in front of them, took her broom to sweet on the wall paper used as a heardboard, the lizard was hiding right there under where my head would be on the bed.
It rained heavily & I called her again, she sent her son to take a video. The floor was wet in front of the bed. She played mind games and said she called people to fix the roof, her son took a video in the room, there is no water leak, & the duvet is not wet. Video https://youtu.be/9Rg9xcxL0ok
Electricity went off in the area for more than 2 days; there was no backup except a small light in the room. I stayed in 20-25 Nov, because I was waiting for my luggage from the airport as I gave them this address. I told her I was canceling my stay due to her bad service & the condition of the room. She sent her daughter to get the keys. The awful thing is that she still pretended that I stayed for 10 days. On 30 Nov she sent me a message to thank me for staying at her place, tried to scam me. Send the right invoice with dates & I will pay it.

I went to the address, but it turned out to be a completely different guesthouse located at the adress. No one answers the phone number provided, and I wasted money on a booking for a place that doesn’t exist. I had to find a hostel at the last minute instead. Avoid this place at all costs!
- Mainga (10/5): I had an incredible stay at this amazing place! - I had an incredible stay at this amazing place! The host was exceptionally friendly and always hands-on, going above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed. It’s rare to find someone so attentive and genuinely helpful.
The safety of the place was outstanding—I even accidentally left my room unlocked at one point, and absolutely nothing went missing! That gave me so much peace of mind.
The trendy decor, lovely garden, and beautiful artwork created such a relaxing and inspiring atmosphere. Every detail of the space felt carefully curated to make guests feel at home.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone, especially solo travelers. This gem of a place is a perfect mix of comfort, style, and security. Thank you for such a memorable experience! Loved everything

- Jeanne (9/5): Superb - The host was lovely and responded quickly to all communications. The cottage was the perfect size with a comfy couch and the kitchen was well equipped. The location was good, on the right side of town for the airport and easy to get to attractions. Only a short stroll to a busy neighbourhood with shops and restaurants, and I never felt unsafe.
- Zakaria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (8/5): Very good - I like that it is super clean inside. Host is very hospitable It would be good to install an air-conditioning. It was extremely hot and the fan didn't help much.
Outside surrounding is abit limiting
- Heinrich (10/5): Trendy (and Hlengi) Amazing! - The host, Hlengi, was amazing. She went out of her way to ensure that everything was in order and that my needs were met at all times. Further, she treated my two Yorkies as if they were her own!
The cottage was perfectly suited to what I needed and had all the essentials at hand. It was located within 2 minutes from Grant Avenue in Norwood, where amenities and nightlife are aplenty. Not much !
- David (10/5): A Place to stay in Joburg - A Place to to stay in Joburg.

I loved that the cottage is in an area that is close to malls and it was convenient getting an Uber to anywhere I needed to go. I would definitely stay here again. The toaster (which I never used) somehow managed to burn up some of the cupboard on top of it and the whole cottage smelled like smoke, and so did all my stuff :(.
- Nicholas (7/5): Very good and convenient the hostess was very helpful, knowledgeable and plessent . - The location was perfect very central the noisy squirter and fridge.
