Guest Reviews
- Dilanian (1/5): - nothing Dear Booking.com Team,
I am writing regarding Booking No. 5636996673.
Upon arrival at the property, no one was present at the premises, and the provided phone number was not answered. This was extremely disappointing and caused significant inconvenience. As a result, I had to spend a considerable amount of time finding alternative accommodation.
I kindly request your assistance in resolving this matter and would appreciate a prompt response.
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,
Dilanjan
- CRISTINA (1/5): Arañas - Nada La habitacion estaba plagada de hormigas y arañas y no me pude quedar
- Pictor (3/5): Booking pictures vs Reality - Its quite place surrounded by nature No Wifi,
No hot water
No AC or fan (there is but sounds like a jet turbine so good luck)
Location 20 min walking from anywhere
Here is the thing. The staff here is a local family which does not speak a single word of english, they are lovely, but comunication is imposible if you dont have a phone with translator.
Then is managed by people in Colombo, who came here to set up the room one day, they prepared everything amazing and took nice pictures for booking. Then they never came back and things were never like in pictures.
They talk to you through Whatsapp, bombing you with extra services like safaris, tuk tuks etc. cause is where they really want to get money from.
If you comlplain, they literally laugh about you. Very disrespectful
Breakfast included, but the worst one I have had in a month in Sri Lanka.
Im sure you can find better places, cheap things sometimes are expensive at the end. Dont repeat my mistake :)
- Ruth (8/5): Lovely calm atmosphere - The room and surroundings were very nice! The staff were also lovely and prepared a delicious breakfast! The road to the property is very bumpy but it’s in a pretty remote place so understandable, we arrived in our tuk tuk, we drove from Kandy to the location at night, we did see some wild elephants on the road which was very cool but also could have been a little dangerous so I’d advise driving before dark to get here The only thing that let the place down was the wifi it wasn’t working which was kind of annoying because we had some work to do and also wanted to plan the rest of our trip. If this had been resolved it would have been perfect 10/10!
- Alizia91 (6/5): Bien, PERO - El sitio precioso.
- Montserrat (10/5): - My stay at Nirwana was a great experience. The room is new, comfortable and clean. There is a little lotus pond in the garden. The owner, Mr Laxman, has a tuc tuc and can bring you anywhere. His wife, Mrs Ramani, will serve you a very good included breakfast and if you want, huge, tasty lovely dinner for a good price. They are very warm people and so is the rest of the family. I recomend this place and I wish I could go back.

- Sanka (10/5): Enjoyed - The breakfast was good, and it was home made. The location and environment are feeling good to stay freely. The hospitality was also good. The Prices are reasonable to stay. The room is newly built. My second stay also even good as they have developed a lot. It is advisable to contact the owner to find the exact location as the google map is bit confused and the direction is not given accurately.
- Fred (10/5): Exceptional - Some guesthouses are convenient,
some are nice spots you can remember,
and some others just make your trip.
Nirwana resort is one of these.
Staying 4 nights here to explore the surroundings (Sigiriya, Polonnaruva, Medirigiya, Ritigala, Avukana, and the less famous but superb Reswehara...) was undoubtedly the best possible choice.
Accomodation is great and very quietness.
But most of all, Laxman and Ramani welcome you like part of the family.
Ramani cooks superb (and huge !) breakfasts and diners, only with local food, some ingredients coming straight from the garden.
Nisansala can help for anything (including tours, motorbike rental...)....
Simply speaking, it is for sure my best stay in Sri Lanka so far, and among the very best during this asian trips.
It is practically a definition of what a Guesthouse - with capital letter - can be. Obviously nothing, all is absolutely great.
- Lulu (10/5): Excellent Hosts - The hosts were incredibly helpful, caring & kind, they went above and beyond to provide a great stay. Limited English was spoken but with Google translate I had many great conversations with the hosts and their young granddaughter with many laughs. I was provided with a pedestal fan as the ceiling fan wasnt working and theres no air-conditioning. Breakfast was home made and huge with a couple of choices. Lunch & dinner can be purchased at the guesthouse for a very reasonable price, also huge portions! They offer day trips & safaris and there's a tuk tuk on site if you need a lift somewhere (for a small fee, of course) There is no hot water (I don't think this is mentioned in their bio)
It is a little out of town, about 20 minute walk, pleasant enough but if your not a walker this could be a problem. I actually enjoyed the walk as everyone is super friendly and keen to have a chat along the way. Also it's quite dark at night on the dirt roads so have a torch or use your mobile torch.
WiFi, for whatever reason was poor after 9pm. No problem for me but may be if your a digital nomad.
- Mar (8/5): Good stay - The facilities are great and there’s a beautiful dining area just for you. The family that hosts this place are very nice and friendly and take you everywhere you want with their car, so you don’t really need to arrange tours in advance! The breakfast is very complete. Expect to pay a lot more than the original booking price because they offer to take you to places and give you food all throughout your stay, even if you don’t necessarily want it.
The place is quiet and beautiful, however, it is not in the town centre of Habarana, 15-20 min walking distance.
- Stefanie (10/5): We would definitely stay here again!! - This place is owned by a beautiful family that was very kind, caring and helpful to us. The room is very new and has everything you need. The host helps you with everything, organises amazing tours for you for a fair price. The breakfast is very authentic and very big portions. Highly recommended!! Nothing
- Nirwana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ben (9/5): Very comfortable place with very caring staff. - Super friendly staff. Very accommodating and very clearly wanted to ensure you had a good stay. The dinner and breakfasts were very nice and the room was comfortable. Although I was aware of this before booking, the room didn’t have AC so I was slightly warm at night.
- Asanka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chamara (10/5): I think this place is very good one stay. - Breakfast and location is excellent. Further,we are interested. Your place and services
- Radim (10/5): Exceptional - Accommodation in a beautiful and quiet environment, very tasty breakfast and an extremely pleasant and accommodating host. I would love to come back here!
- Nanayakkara (10/5): Perfect stay in a home away from home. - The place was very calm, clean and neat. The simple homely setting made us very relaxed and comfortable. Though it was not very far from the usual hustle and bustle of the city, once inside it almost gave us complete isolation. We just woke up to the singing of different tunes of birds and the breakfast made us full for the entire day. The 2 nights we stayed at Nirvana will be remembered for a very very long time from now. Nothing at all..
