Guest Reviews
- Doug (7/5): Very clean and comfy and great value. - I don't usually have breakfast and didn't on this visit but it was offered. The bathroom I had use of only had a bath with a shower hose attached to the tap but no fixing on the wall for the shower head or shower curtain, these would have been more convenient for me.
- Susan (8/5): A bit of anxiety to begin with but on the whole our one-night's stay was fine. - The location suited us very well and the house was very spacious and clean. Only one bathroom for four bedrooms but luckily there was no-one else staying. No shower in the bathroom - only a hand-held attachment on the bath taps and no shower screen. Phone number we were given did not work so had no information about keypad entry code, wi-fi, check-in time etc. Had to knock on door of end flat and tenants very kindly unlocked the front door for us, otherwise we would not have got into the building.

- Barbara (3/5): Advert and photos totally deceptive to actual accommodation - The gardens were lovely. The owner's employee was helpful and courteous, using his phone data to enable us to watch TV. Use of the washing machine and tumble dryer was appreciated, as was the owner's offer of tea, coffee and muffins in the kitchen. This is a shared house with shared facilities. The advertisement and photos are misleading and not a true representation of the accommodation. There is no signage to identify the property which isn't called Medstead Lodge! The approach and driveway has deep pits which are intended to be bases for future buildings, surrounded by bollards. The rough drive leads to the accommodation which is set back from the road and there is no signage to identify the parking area or where to check in. There is no Wifi as advertised, the TV's don't work, the one 'private bathroom' is shared by 3 double bedrooms, so potentially 6 people sharing one bathroom. There is no twin room (as advertised) There is no shower, (as advertised by photographs), merely a shower head attachment to the bath taps. There is no bracket on the wall to hold the shower head and there is no shower screen or curtain. The bathroom has no opening window. Our double room was accessed through the shared lounge. The flimsy doors didn't stop the volume of conversations in the lounge. The room was stuffy, with no opening windows are they were all sealed units. The curtains weren’t long enough to cover the windows. The pillows were cheap and uncomfortable however the mattress was comfortable. There was only one bedside table and one bedside lamp. There was a lack of surfaces for personal belongings. The only mirror was a tiny one on a table underneath a small wall mounted TV which didn't work. The shared bathroom was accessed by having to walk through the lounge.
I don't usually provide reviews as I consider opinions are very personal and we all have different standards. However I felt so deceived by this experience that I phoned the owner to discuss my concerns and to offer constructive suggestions to amend either the accommodation or the advertisement, however he wasn't interested and abruptly ended the phone connection.
- Riaan (1/5): - Nothing Was awful, never go there

- Alison (1/5): Avoid at all costs. Terrible & shocking experience. - Nothing at all. We did not stay overnight due to the threatening behaviour and torrent of foul language we were subjected to from the owner. One bathroom and toilet shared between all rooms - advertised as a private bathroom.
No wifi anywhere . Room bare of any facilities whatsoever. When we politely enquired for the WiFi code we were told it didn’t work. We mentioned that it is advertised as WiFi throughout and this prompted a violent & abusive response which was so intimidating we decided to leave and stay elsewhere.
N.B.We are still awaiting a response from Booking.com to our two formal complaints and request for a full refund!!!
- Mark (5/5): Clean but be mindful that it’s a shared house with shared facilities and bathrooms are not private. - Clean and spacious Property is not advertised very clearly that it’s a shared house with shared facilities such as the kitchen and bathroom etc. The bathrooms are also not private despite the listing stating private bathrooms.
- Graham (8/5): worth the visit - breakfast not applicable
location nice and peaceful
- Bridger (8/5): An interesting place to stay. - An interesting building.
The location was close to a family catch up. Because the building was built with an extended family in mind, there was a minor privacy issue with the bedroom conservatory.
- Lorna (10/5): Relaxing srsy - The room and house were lovely and the host very welcoming, chatty, and relaxed. It was a stunning location with beautiful gardens and lots of seating inside and out to relax. It felt like being at my uncles house eathef than a b&b. Nothing
- Fiona (9/5): Amazing! - Lots of communal space we were free to use. The host was very friendly and was really chill. Great guy. The facilities were all really clean too. Hard to get signal there and there was no wifi, but the host was transparent about that so we didnt mind. Everything else was superb
- Simone (8/5): Great host. - Comfortable bed - friendly host - access to full
Kitchen Didn’t realise it was a shared bathroom, luckily it was only us staying there but had there have been others it would have been a shared bathroom. I
May have misread this in the description or failed to
Pay attention.
It is actually in Medstead and not Beech as indicated: located not far from Redwood Lane.
- Janie (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic place to stay. Couldnt do enough for me.
- Niko (9/5): Interesting experience - All good, except the shower The shower
- Gary (8/5): Very good -
- Nellie (10/5): Exceptional - How clean an tidy it was an how friendly the b&b host is. There wasn’t much to not like, felt very comfortable an relaxed.
- Christopher (6/5): Will be an excellent property when its finished. - The property was very good and bright. The owner was very accommodating and very quick to please. What let the property down was no on suit when the write up said private bathroom but it had to be shared. There were no mirrors, tv, bedside lights or dressing table in the room. The lock on the private bathroom did not work correctly.
- Helen (5/5): Passable - Medstead Lodge was very confusing to find as there already exists a property called Medstead Lodge within the village the owner of which is getting a bit fed up redirecting guests to the accommodation they have booked. 'Medstead Lodge ' as advertised at 21 Abbey Road has a sign on the fence calling it Keri which is what this property is known as locally. The parking was a bit undefined. The bathroom door didn't lock properly.
- Nathan (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable room. My host Allen made me feel at home and was very hospitable. I will definitely be staying again soon
- Jurgis (7/5): Good -
- Mavis (8/5): Very good -
- Jenny (5/5): Your information re property and situation misleading, residential host unexpected but helpful - The house is beautiful, and will be stunning when finished The property was still in the process of renovation, what was in place was good but lots needed to be finished.no mirrors.no bedside tables,no bed side lights lack of shelving and draws,no lock on bathroom,no shower curtain, shower not fixed no curtains in small bedroom ,and you are booking rooms in the house not the whole houseand kitchen photo not as is.But we had a great time and host was excellent.
