- Digmi (1/5): - The room was clean The staff was not so nice We had stomach problems and the toilet didn't work And every time we had to beg the staff to fix the toilet that didn't work and on top of that we had to ask for paper two hundred times a day because they forgot about us Small room but for 2 nights it's bearable

- Jimena (10/5): - Cómodo completo y personal amable te facilita la moto! Algo caro calidad - precio
- cheska (10/5): - the place is comfortable, quiet, and the staff ate very accomodating
- Jan Desiree (8/5): Overall, for the price, it was worth it considering the spacious and comfortable room. - We liked the very spacious and clean room, which was perfect and comfortable for our group of four. There was little to no Wi‑Fi connection (or it was very poor), we didn’t get a chance to meet any staff or manager which made the place feel self‑service, and the road going to the property was very bumpy and difficult to access.

- Ainhoa (8/5): - Personal muy amable
- Joseph Anthony (10/5): - Accessibility and staff were hospitable
- Tom Butcher (8/5): Fair but thin. - The beds are super comfy, the AC is noisy but works, there is a additional fan in the room, hot water and good water pressure. Free water and excess to a simple shared kitchen area.
The garden area is kinda overgrown but it actually looks really nice and adds to a cozy feeling tucked into a small jungle. It's very noisy. The walls are incredibly thin so your peacefulness is dependent on your neighbours. Unfortunately we were frequently disturbed throughout our stay. We could hear the people in the room next to us snoring, we could also hear them use the bathroom in every detail.
There are a lot of people coming in and out all the time on scooters through the garden area. Not an issue in its self but as this place is set a little out of town so you may choose it with the idea of it being quite and peaceful but we found it not to be.
This isn't necessarily the properties fault, but its certainly worth a mention if you are a light sleeper. For the price I would expect not to hear the neighbours breathe.
- Ortigas (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable and easy access to the city and beach. and the staff is all accommodating and easy to deal., Comfortable and easy access to the city and beach. and the staff is all accommodating and easy to deal.,
- Rita (9/5): Superb -
- Cariaga (10/5): Awesome stay. Feel like iI’m staying in paradise lot ambience that can really relax you while in vacation. - -Ample size of room for a good Price
-Surroundings are better for a budget hostel. Full of greeneries on day and lights at night. More rooms please. They are always fully booked so we can’t extend our stay.
- Xavier (7/5): Good - Value for money, didnt expect luxury. lots of trees and plants, it was a little messy in the area due to their new rooms being built. Exiting the area is tricky when raining due to unpaved road
it was a little messy in the area due to their new rooms.
- Darin (8/5): Very good -
- Maddison (9/5): Superb - The owners were absolutely lovely made the stay 10 times better. They were so helpful and accommodated all our needs. The yard is very beautiful. The room was nice, bed was a little bit small for two people and bathroom didn’t dry well.
- Mr (10/5): Great budget hostel, AC could be better. - Private room, shared mini kitchen, trees, plants and vegetation that gave it a tropical jungle feel. AC blew cold but wasn't sufficient to make the room cold. I did give it time, but I didn't want to bother host as I showed up later in the evening. Shower floor want graded properly so the water stayed in the middle of the shower/toilet room. Needs more electrical outlet close to bed and maybe luggage stand so bags aren't on the floor.
- Cm (8/5): Very good - It was affordable and at a good location near the center. Room No. 2 needs repair in the CR, considering it couldn't properly drain the used water.
- Tristan (7/5): Good -
- Miguel (10/5): Nice place to stay - The owners are so nice Everything was ok
- Rhiannah (10/5): Great nights stay - Almost everything! Great wifi, room, host, facilities were great The mattress was quite thin and so were the walls. Really great value for money though, I’d definitely come back
- Sarah (10/5): Best Value for Money, friendly po yung staff, they even ask if your okay. - Accomodating Staff
Nice ambiance Nothing in particular
- Enriquez (10/5): They assist us always whenever we have concerns. They have clean rooms and toilet. We had a comfortable stay. We wanna b - Accommodating staffs and free access of kitchen, free drinking water. None
- Cariaga (10/5): The most incredible experience in Kawayan Hostel - Perfectly decribed on their website description. Not too close yet not too far also from the main street of fun. It’s actually walking distance if you love to walk but not so close that you can have a quiet night to rest for next day’s activity. No AC on brown out but it’s alright. They are providing electric fans as alternative as the generator can’t provide enough for all ACs. Still a great blessing couz they are the only or one of a few budget hostels that has generator during black outs.
- Charlotte (10/5): Tranquil and pleasant stay with super friendly staff - The staff is super caring and friendly! When I was moving I couldn’t take all our stuff on the bike at once so they even drove with me to bring the stuff. Also the kitchen is super well equipped and I absolutely love the tranquil atmosphere, the garden is like a beautiful jungle. Only point that was less is that the bed was too small for us. I believe for a couple it might do but I shared it with my brother and that was a bit too tight.
- Greffard (10/5): Very good place with good accommodation -
- Cindy (10/5): Exceptional - Staffs are very accommodating and friendly.
- Aloever (9/5): Superb - The hosts were responsive, very accommodating, and helpful with our requests.
- Stefanie (10/5): Wonderful hosts and nice accommodation - Lovely Place with wonderful garden.
The hosts were super nice and we got scooters for a very good price.
I think for this price it’s a good deal. Nothing fancy but you have everything you need.
Bed, shower, toilet, table, ac It was difficult to close and open the door.
I needed the help of my partner to get in and out haha
The towls were weird. As Soft like a blanket.
- Xen (10/5): Great place to stay in Siargao - I really like my room; it feels just like my room in my hometown. It has the same blackout curtains, a sliding door, and the same wall paint color. It's amazing! I feel right at home. The staff are friendly and welcoming. I appreciate the quietness of the neighborhood—it's perfect if you're looking for a peaceful place to stay. The Wi-Fi is fast and reliable, and they also have a generator, so I don't have to worry about power outages. Sometimes, the water pressure in the shower isn't strong, which affects the flow from the showerhead. While they offer both hot and cold water, the hot shower isn't really hot; it tends to be more lukewarm. However, this doesn't significantly impact my overall experience at this place.
- Xendryll (10/5): Worth it and I would book it again in the future! - I extended my stay at Kawayan Hostel. Technically, I stayed 16 nights here. I LOVE IT! I would recommend it to everyone. I will surely be back here. :)
- Villarin (9/5): Superb -
- Nuria (8/5): Good location, nice bedroom and staff willing to help - Good location, close to the center but in a quiet area. There was a power cut and it took them a couple of days to be able to get a generator to provide electricity, water and wifi.
- Cariaga (10/5): Thumps up - Kawayan Hostel - A Perfect Stay in Siargao
Kawayan Hostel is hands down one of the best places to stay in Siargao! From the moment you step into this charming hostel, you are welcomed by a cozy, laid-back atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, always going out of their way to ensure you have a memorable stay.
The rooms are clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed with a blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. Whether you're staying in a dorm or a private room, the facilities are top-notch, offering everything you need for a relaxing stay. The beds are super comfy, and the air conditioning works perfectly to keep you cool after a long day of adventure.
The hostel's location is another highlight – it's just a short walk to the beach and close to local cafes and restaurants, so you’re never far from everything you need. It's the perfect base for exploring General Luna and the rest of Siargao Island.
One of the best features of Kawayan Hostel is the vibrant community. It's easy to meet fellow travelers in the common areas or during their fun, organized events. You’ll find a lot of opportunities to connect, whether you're joining a surf session, taking a group trip to nearby islands, or simply chatting with other guests over a drink.
The vibe here is incredibly relaxed, and the beautiful bamboo architecture only adds to the tropical experience, a great start to your day in paradise!
Overall, I couldn’t recommend Kawayan Hostel more. Whether you're looking for a fun and social atmosphere or a peaceful retreat, this place has it all. 10/10 for its fantastic service, location, and unforgettable vibe! No! All I really like is Kawayan Hostel.
- Michel (10/5): Exceptional - We had a nice stay at Kawayan hostel, the family that lives there is really welcoming, the rooms are nice and the location is great, i recommend
- Zohar (1/5): Bad -
- Alessio (1/5): Horrible - Nothing, we had to leave after our first night. We booked for three nights there Loud, dirty and stinky very stinky room
- Sorcha (4/5): Disappointing - Room, once moved, was clean. Ok location. Out of the noise of General Luna but only 5 mins walk to the main street. The first room we were given smelled of mould, no fan or window in the bathroom and the door didn't close properly. Staff were hesitant to move us, especially the guy. But after some persistence, the woman in charge finally did move us to a better room, but there were still problems. E.g. bathroom door fell off the hinge within a day. The sink was leaking from the pipe. Glass on the door was coming apart from the frame. The aircon was very loud.
We were there for 6 nights with no cleaning offered and no fresh towels. We also had to provide our own toilet roll. The water pressure was awful. Common kitchen was filthy and frequently occupied by the owners and family members. Didn't feel like it was a space for guests to use. Electricity cut out, which we were warned in advance happens often, but only for a short time. However we did end up having a cut for 8+hours. During this time, there was no water.
Rooms not as pictured. The place was very worn.
They offer bike rental and we were told via Booking messenger it was 400php per day, but whilst there they tried to charge 500php per day. Found somewhere around the corner offering better value. Very disappointed with our stay. Moved to a different hostel with better facilities, better customer care, more comfortable and 1/3 cheaper per night (Sunlit Hostel).
- Pierre (4/5): Good location, cheap with downsides. - It is a cute garden during day but during the night it can be scary with the small rat running around. I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent stay at your hotel on. While I had expected a comfortable and pleasant experience, several issues unfortunately marred my visit.
Firstly, the door to my room was very difficult to close properly. This was inconvenient and concerning, as it impacted my sense of security during the stay. In addition, the mattress in my room was extremely thin and uncomfortable, making it hard to get a good night’s sleep.
To top it off, I observed a rat running around in the garden during the evening, which was both alarming and unhygienic. This incident raised serious concerns about the cleanliness and maintenance of the property.
I trust you will take the necessary actions to address these issues, and I would appreciate a response regarding the steps you will take to ensure a better experience for future guests.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
- Silvestre (7/5): Good - a solid 7.5 - You can cook here for free and the staff working here are really friendly and nice. You can rent motorbikes here too. The bathroom door in Room #3 was collapsing, I reported it but it wasn't fixed. I didn't care much as we only stayed for two nights
- Jezreel (8/5): Very good - The location is great, the staff are great they are friendly and attentive The big spiders keep coming back we killed 3 spiders and they are big ones
- Stephy (10/5): It was a really lovely stay. The staff were very nice and very approachable. I wish they offered to make up our room on - I love how quiet their area is. The room is pretty decent for its price. We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights, I wish on our 2nd night stay they offered to at least make up our room. Maybe because we didn't tell them to but I really wish they offered.
- Ardiente (10/5): Incredible. Definitely be booking another trip to Siargao🥹🫶 - Super love the people taking care of this place. Ang babait nila at accomodating. The place is very near sa lahat. May kitchen which is great kasi nakakapagluto kami anytime. Salamat nga marami, Siargao and Kawayan Hostel🫶 None. Everything is perfect!
- Ghibert (8/5): Really good - Everything was clean and good location Lack of pressure in the shower and small room
- Antonio (10/5): Exceptional - Súper nice place, always when I visit General luna stay there, really clean, outside of the noise part of the town, but close to everything. Nothing, all perfect
- Antonio (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect place to stay in gl, super clean, hot water, quiet. 100% recommend. Nothing
- Ghenghen (3/5): it was stressful beacause of the rats roaming around day and night - need to improve cleanliness.. theres alot of big rats running infront of our room☹️☹️☹️☹️ the location
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - Near Tourism Road. Accesible to restaurants. Nothing
- Tine (8/5): Very good -
- Selina (7/5): Good -
- Agentpaji (7/5): It's definitely budget friendly and location is okay. - The value for money for a private room was great. Wifi works really well and it's somehow near to the center. The sliding door was heave and hard to lock sometimes. Toilet door hinges is broken, had to put the screw back many times, also, it could use a bit of cleaning.
- Jayson (8/5): I really like the ambience here so cozy - I like the room a lot None
- Aisling (9/5): Superb - Lovely room, kind staff, can rent motorbikes from them for a good price. Location is good - a walk away from restaurants and cafes. The toulet flush didn’t work a lot of the time. Had to use the bucket and water in the bathroom. We did tell the staff twice and both times they kindly fixed it but it kept breaking/not flushing.
- Geramyn (4/5): Disappointing - It was near to the Tourism Road The first thing would be their room. They gave us a place that had a sliding door that was so hard to lock. We had to use strength to be able to lock it.
The second, the bathroom does not have a divider for when you take a bath so the floor was constantly wet from showering even when you just want to pee.
- Jovel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Desiree (7/5): Good -
- Bradley (10/5): Quiet, clean stay - Great little spot down a quiet street. Cheap motorbike hire and staff were very friendly and approachable. It was perfect for our time in Siargao. It is a little bit away from the main street (20 mins) but not too bad.
- Virginia (9/5): Superb -
- Aimee (10/5): Exceptional - The property was super idyllic, easy walk to the Main Street with lots of restaurants but just far enough that is was super quiet at night. Super responsive on booking.com to any questions we had during our stay and they were able to provide a scooter at the accommodation which was really useful as well as organising a van to the airport! Would definitely stay again!
- Juan (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was very helpful all the time. I recommend the place a lot Nothing to say here
- Shannon (8/5): Very good -
- Megan (9/5): A fantastic option in General Luna. - This was a really nice hostel/ hotel and we loved our stay. The rooms are fairly basic (but exactly how it was shown in the pictures, so no issues here). The AC was good, as was the location and the staff were super friendly. One night we had a large spider in our bathroom which I asked if they could get rid off as we were too scared to do ourselves and he came back to kill it with all of his excited kids - great service! We also rented a motorbike off them one day and the price was really reasonable, about 250 pesos for the day. We had no issues here and would definitely recommend Kawayan. The sink drained really slowly in our room, but really that's a non-issue in the grand scheme of things.
- Kallan (9/5): Superb - Very nice and helpful staff, helped book multiple tours and supply motorbikes for rental in a good location and rooms were very comfortable
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marvin (9/5): Superb -
- Caitlin (10/5): Exceptional - Really nice staff. Comfortable room, clean & good aircon. Would return if I came back to Siargao. Pillows could be a bit more comfortable but not too big of an issue
- Alejandro (3/5): Really bad customer service experience - Booked for one night, owner asked us if we wanted to extend and as we said we had another place booked he didn’t explain anything zero comments just pointed where our door was and we never saw him again, even checked out we tried find him to handle the keys but no luck. Not recommended at all
- Cagney (9/5): Superb -
- Fernando (7/5): Ok place for a small stay - Location is good, close to the main road and church. Price is very good compared to other options Rooms are quite small, a/c quite noisy and you need to buy your own toilet paper ( which we fell like misery)
- Madeleine (6/5): Hoping that the owners can improve things over time - Room was simple and relatively clean. Garden is very pretty. Easy to get in touch with staff thanks to leaving WhatsApp number. Wifi was decent I did a couple of calls for work.
I will say that the owners seem to actually care. When I complained about the bugs they did do a clean of the washroom and a complementary clean of the bedroom as well in good faith. It seems like a new place so maybe they have some growing pains to figure out. Bathroom was full of bugs like ants, worms and juvenile cockroaches. Bathroom steadily smelled worse and worse until on my last day is was unbearable.
It's kind of close to the main area but there are places to stay that are closer.
- Jim (5/5): We like it but it was hot and humid maybe we will comeback during cooler months. - It was the an unplanned trip booked the last minute. We like it but wish they have a dipper in the bathroom 👍
- Laarnie (10/5): Great location, quiet place, nice room, friendly staff and helpful. - The room is really cute with comfy bed. I am really happy I chose to stay at this place while I was in Siargao. They have a rack where you can hang your wet clothes. At night, the place is quiet so I am happy with that. They also have a kitchen for all which I think you can cook here if you like. The only thing I wasn’t happy was the wifi but I know that this is the case in the entire Philippines, not their fault.
The staffs are friendly and attend to your needs quickly. The amount I paid was definitely worth it.
If I ever go back to Siargao I will book again on this place.
- Sequoya (8/5): Very good - Such friendly staff that cleaned our room so many times! Easy access to motorbikes for a good price. Great location not too far from Tourism Road but quiet enough. Comfortable beds. A nice place to stay for a short while. Basic necessities like a bed and a bathroom. Gave us lots of towels which was nice! The kitchen is not the best. Rats, mice, and cockroaches often on the stove/counter (it's outside) and not really any hangout area. Quite loud in the mornings with kids/babies/roosters/dogs (typical of the Philippines though)
- Marc (10/5): It was a great and memorable stay in Siargao. - The place itself. We also love that we can cook and the kitchenwares are already provided. Not that I can think of.
- Bethany (7/5): Good experience - Walking distance about 15/20 minutes to main town
Comfortable spacious room
Kitchen area with available cups/plates etc to prepare food/drinks
Nice atmosphere in the courtyard area WiFi was always going down :( my partner lost a potential client because he couldn’t connect to WiFi just before call and we could not get hold of the staff to fix it!
No electricity to have a shower on the last day of our stay.
- Patrícia (10/5): Cosy local place - Perfect location outside of the main touristic area. Really cosy environment and the family running the hostel was super helpful 24/7.
- Giorgia (9/5): Peaceful - Almost everything It was quieter clean clise to the centre The chicken wasnt clean like the other parts
There were nothing to hang the clothes inside of the room
- Ama (9/5): A charming place run by a wonderful couple - The couple who own the place are absolutely lovely! We hired a scooter at a very reasonable price and they let us hire it even when we moved to a different location. The internet was super fast, the rooms were clean, always had hot water, the AC was good, access to a kitchen and water refill, it was a very pretty place especially when lit up at night, walking distance to shops and restaurants, opposite a tiny shop to get essentials/snacks, a very lovely and homely feel. They also let us check in early 😊 The only thing I can think of is that the room was quite small, but it was still fine for two of us.
