- Saraswat (7/5): Worth spending some time living like an upscale local - - My partner & I have a method - we love to spend a few days in the capital of the country we are visiting - it helps us get a small flavour of being a local. YakkaSaray was perfect for this. - The apartment was beautiful. Its managed by the Mirzo Hotel downstairs. - They have some good views of the city. - The immediate vicinity of the hotel has multiple eateries and cafes - it felt great to just sit at the cafe outside our property sipping on a coffee. - The kitchen is decently equipped. - Cleanliness was a slight issue. From when we entered, we could see dust all over the apartment. We stayed there for two nights and it wasn't cleaned even once. - Water was served in small bottles - we had to keep going to the hotel reception to get bottled for ourselves. - The breakfast quality wasn't great. In all the breakfasts we had across Uzbekistan, this one felt like it was put out for the sake of it. - On this note, its worth mentioning that the world is visiting Uzbekistan now, it'll do well for them to embrace a wider range of food - including more vegetarian & vegan options. - I do feel we paid a bit of a premium for the experience - don't get me wrong, we really liked the place. But if we are being fair, it could have been a bit more economical.
