Guest Reviews
- Emily (10/5): Relaxing and enjoying stay - Friendly, clean, interesting, surprising, cosy
- Eamonn (9/5): Excellent stay with very welcoming hosts - Big, comfortable room with quirky decorations Nothing
- ABI (9/5): - Very comfy and quirky. Lived the little touches like free tea cakes and very warm welcome. The front room is on the high street and only has a shower and sink in the en suite - the loo is across the landing. Back bedroom has full enormous bathroom and is quieter.
- Chris (10/5): Malvern Spring Show - There was a lovely feel to the place. Stayed in Elephant in the room. Lovely room. En suite. One of the comfiest beds ever stayed in. Really good choice of craft beers in small bar. Only 2 rooms at property. Aware other room has separate toilet across landing which was in the description about property. Other people who stayed at the property obviously didn't read this. Will definitely be staying again, hopefully for yge Malvern Autumn Show. Can't fault anything

- MICHAELA (10/5): - Lovely one nights stay, clean and comfortable, the room has everything you need. In a great location with everything you could possibly need on your doorstep Nothing
- Caroline (9/5): Funky decor! - Hazel's communication was personal and excellent. The room was comfortable and the decor was funky! Easy access to the place and in a great location in town.
Perfect for a night stop over. Fridge at night is quite noisy
- Victoria (9/5): Very lovely - Excellent all round Very minor point but maybe desk/table for make up/hair
- Beverley (8/5): A pleasant stay in quirky room - Good location, quirky decor. Spacious bedroom, and huge bathroom. Loved the fairy lights on the stairs. Our room had no view, but there was a window
opening for ventilation. Tap room downstairs was closed the evening we stayed which was a little disappointing. Mattress a little soft but ok for one night.
- Valerie (10/5): Two Night Stay At Maverick Rooms - Everything A+. lovely room, great location. We very much enjoyed our stay and would return without hesitation.
- Susan (10/5): - It was easy to find quirky fun and spacious
- Will (10/5): - Great location, lovely room, super cool bar downstairs Nothing
- Anastasiya (9/5): - Very spatious room and bathroom.
- Bruce (10/5): An excellent room and I would recommend it without reservation. - The room was terrific - bed large and comfortable. I didn’t use the WiFi so can’t comment on that. I arrived fairly late and was off pretty early the next day and I didn’t watch the TV. The little fridge was quite noisy so I turned it off while I slept and turned it back on in the morning.
- John T. (9/5): -
- Alison (9/5): Engagingly quirky; great for an overnight. - Knew decor would be fun & quirky and we’re not disappointed. Loved giraffe lamp, hippo coffee table etc. Comfortable bed. Perfect venue for an overnight, with car parking 8-10 min walk away past interesting shops. Superb breakfast at cafe No 8 round the corner (open 9:15 am)
- Chris (10/5): Very nice relaxing stop over! - Lovely place to stay, friendly informative hosts, great beer, great cobs, what’s not to like?!! Going home!
- Bradley (10/5): -
- Tracey (10/5): Relaxing stay in a fabulous location. - Lovely big room with large en suite bathroom. Unusually decorated but very tasteful and well done. Had everything we needed. The host was hospitable and helpful in every way.
Location was perfect in the centre of the village. Price for 2 nights was excellent. Would definitely stay there again. Highly recommend. Nothing!
- Joshua (10/5): Unbelievable Stay - Absolutely everything. Hazel was absolutely fantastic aswell! Nothing at all
- lauren (10/5): Absolutely fantastic! - The Abarama Gold room was stunning, so quirky and very comfy. The staff were brilliant, so kind and welcoming. The tap room downstairs is also a must, again, really welcoming and a lovely place for a cheeky beverage! N/A
- maggie (9/5): Overnight stay - Deco
Good r, really funky , Hazel lovely and welcoming
Bed really comfy and immaculate room. Lovey Shower room but was a bit worrying ,with he step as even though you know it's there, dud almost fall down and so dud husband even though we are fit and no walking issues..
Probably would have preferred the toilet in an en suite instead of across the landing.
But still a great stay
- Kit (9/5): - Gorgeous room, warm and cosy, well placed for eating out also, loved the decor! That i only stayed for one night!
- Jane (10/5): Absolutely amazing and Hazel was lovely truly recommend -
- Claire (10/5): - Unique in so many ways. Bed was so comfortable! Nothing
- angela (10/5): The secret spot you want to keep quiet about. - Super fabulous room with comfy bed , sofa and chill area in the room. Great bathroom ensuite too. Sweet little treat from owners too which was very appreciated. The only thing was the bar below wasn't open on the Tuesday. However we headed to Majitos a few doors down and had the most epic Gluten free pizza and cocktails so it was a win in the end too.
- PAULA (8/5): - The staff were really friendly and helpful. The bed was super comfortable. It had everything I needed! The bathroom was outside of the room, even though the shower cubicle was inside. I don't believe this was made clear when I booked.
- Chris (9/5): Beautifully decorated, Very comfortable, great location and friendly host. We'll be back! - Decor of room, friendly host, excellent location. Nothing.
- Harriet (10/5): - Fantastic host, brilliantly quirky room, we would recommend! We asked if we could check in early as we were going to a wedding, and the host messaged a couple of days before to say she was able to accommodate this. Clean and comfortable, perfect location on the high street.
- Mark (10/5): Excellent rooms in a perfect location - The tap room Nothing
- Alan (10/5): Fantastic weekend, will book again - Convenient for the location. Friendly, helpful owners. Beautiful room, bed was soooooo comfy.
- Daryn (9/5): -
- Derek (6/5): Getting up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet across the corridor is what I remember so you can sum that up - It was very clean and location convenient . Thought I had booked a room with an on suite bathroom? Yes bathroom with shower but no toilet. Toilet off landing and shared. Would not have booked it I had known this. Suggest the website makes this very clear before it’s booked.
- Erica (7/5): Good location and Hazel was welcoming. - Quirky. Clean and comfortable Lighting in the room so poor impossible to read. Wouldn’t have booked if I had realised that the WC was on the landing and not in the room.
- william (10/5): Better than we could have wished for - Super friendly staff. Location in centre of town. Very large comfortable clean room with large en suite. Quiet accommodation. Unique downstairs bar selling a great range of craft beers and ciders. A real treasure of a find for us. Nothing
- Robert (9/5): A lovely night in a comfortable room - Location is very good, street parking outside overnight, Hazel was very welcoming and keen to ensure we had everything we needed. The effort spent in making the room feel comfortable and quirky. The little extras provided were very nice. All good
- Michelle (10/5): Must stay - Quirky decor. Lovely comfortable bed.
- Samantha (10/5): Fantastic stay in a quirky place - Amazing decor, loved how individual and quirky it was, nothing else like it! Also loved the bar downstairs, great choice of drinks and friendly staff and visitors The only thing I would have changed was I didn't realise when I booked that the toilet was separate from the en-suite but it didn't ruin our stay at all
- Jane (10/5): A little gem! - On top of the high street, quirky rooms, Crazy Bear vibes. Hazel the host was exceptional. Free parking in side streets behind property Nothing negative
- Jane (10/5): -
- Emily (10/5): -
- antony (10/5): It was a lovely room and great value for money - It was very quirky and charming The on-street parking wasn't easy and a fair step from the house
- Cheri (10/5): Lovely host (hazel) - It was very funky and comfortable especially the bed Nothing 😋
- Mark (10/5): Wonderful and beautiful location and room - Excellent location Tap room
- Tracey (9/5): Lovely room and the locals are very welcoming. We’d definitely stay again in the future, not too far for three counties - Nice sized room and comfy bed. Great location, writing in the centre of the village. It would have been nice to have had a coffee refresh for our second day, & clean cups as being a room only there were no facilities to wash up.
- Diane (9/5): Spacious room with everything you need, quirky decor and lighting. - Comfy bed, lots of space, quirky decor, nice shower. Milk and water in the mini fridge, always a welcoming touch. There was a bit of noise from the High Street as the window wasn’t double-glazed. My stay was mid-week though, so not too bad. If you wanted a lie-in it could be interrupted by morning traffic!
- Margo (9/5): Comfortable, quirky and good value for money. - Our room at the front of the building was large, quirky and well thought out, with everything we needed. Our host, Hazel, was very helpful and provided detailed check-in details and advice on where to eat in the evening (we enjoyed an excellent home-made pie and chips at the White Lion Hotel). It was a bit chilly in the evening but the plug-in radiator soon warmed the room up. This was an ideal place to stay after an enjoyable day at the Autumn Show at the Three Counties Showground, just a few miles away. Would definitely return.
- Andrew (9/5): -
- michael (7/5): - There was no toilet in the room, and we had our own across the landing, but it was an inconvenience.
- Bruce (9/5): - The spaciousness of the room and the welcome I got from the owner, I was able to check in earlier than advertised and they were extremely helpful to me The lights didn't really give off enough light for me
- Jody (10/5): Hazel, the host was kind and really helpful. It’s a shame I didn’t have more time to explore the town. - The decor was fabulous and the building lovely Nothing
- lisa (8/5): Lovely place to stay in middle of town - Lovely big room uniquely decorated
- Leyland (10/5): - Funky quirky decor and friendly host, perfect location, a gift from the bear 😀 and an extremely comfy bed.
- John (10/5): -
- Dave Bickel (9/5): A wonderful small town with loads of character and a very good host - The location was excellent. The room accomodation was so unusual but we were very happy to have found the Maverick.
- vicki (9/5): Very convenient and pleasant stay. - Great location and clean and fresh room. Plenty of space to hang clothes and lay out toiletries. Thanks for the bottles of water and milk for tea/coffee. Small bar on the ground floor with excellent range of craft beers.
- Jody Sanderson (9/5): Lovely, comfortable, quirky room. Spotlessly clean, with lovely touches. - The room is delightful, we stayed in the Gold Room, and it is so quirky in it's decor. Many little lovely touches, like a mini fridge with fresh milk, some reading books, unique furniture etc. Not anything to do with the room, but the road outside is very busy and with the weather like this and windows fully open can be a tad noisy, but wouldn't put me off staying again.
- Julie (10/5): Excellent value and super location - So handy and really friendly hosts. We stayed in Elephant room which had large en suite. Lovely touches like the fresh milk and choccies. Nothing. The only one thing we would have appreciated was a sheet to use instead of the duvet as it was a warm night
- petra (10/5): “A wonderfully quirky hotel with hosts who went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable.” - A Hidden Gem with Heart!
We had the most fantastic stay at this quirky little hotel! From the moment we arrived, the hosts made us feel completely at home. The decor was full of charm and character, and every corner had a story to tell.
What truly set this place apart was the incredible hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble — they even lent us a hand fan for the wedding we were attending, and it perfectly matched our outfits! It’s those thoughtful little touches that make all the difference.
If you're looking for somewhere unique, welcoming, and full of personality, this is the place. We can’t wait to come back!
- Michele (10/5): Great find. Will be back! - Such a fun space! Every detail carried out to perfection! Nothing. Lovely all around!
- David (10/5): The perfect place to save us from leaving home at 5 a.m. - Quirky, unique, incredibly comfy bed in spite of the heat! Downstairs bar has more craft beers than you can count, and even Paisley cola for the teetotal Scotsman. There is nothing negative to say about this lovely property
- Darren (8/5): Perfectly place in the centre of town - Quirky and attention to detail Unfortunately, the bar isn’t open on a Monday
- Jennifer (9/5): Beautiful - The room was just stunning. Loads of little extras & an amazing decor. The bed was sooo comfy, shower was great. The location was incredible ( my husband was just upset that the bar was closed...so we have to go back). The communication with Hazel was great. The only thing we didn't like was that there was a shared toilet. But it was shared between just 2 room & was beautiful. Fortunately we packed dressing gowns & it was not a issue, more of an
inconvenience,so don't let it put you off, just be prepared.
- Elissavet (8/5): Very good - Very comfortable bed, spacious room, great location, friendly staff Shared bathroom which wasn’t clear at the time of booking (despite that we are still glad we stayed for a night).
- Kelly (10/5): Excellent stay - Lovely place to stay. Great host, excellent facilities and a lovely room with extra little touches & attention to detail.
- Bernard (10/5): I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. - Quirky but clean and comfortable. Nothing
- Rob (9/5): Superb -
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (8/5): Quirky and different and very good value. - It was different and interesting - great decoration, lights etc. the bar area downstairs was great. Our room didn’t have a toilet but apart from that it was great
- Jackie (8/5): Great location, good value for money, beautifully decorated - We stayed in the elephant room, beautifully decorated with a large en-suite. We did not realise that the room was part of a larger house where the family were. This did not detract from how lovely the place is. Would happily stay again in the en-suite room.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Diane (9/5): Great location - Great location. Quirky, colourful room. Friendly owner who kindly posted our phone charger back to us when we left it. Wonderful to have a mini fridge with fresh milk! Hadn't realised when we booked that the toilet wasn't ensuite (there is a small ensuite with a shower and basin). That was a nuisance as we do need to get up in the night. If we stayed again we wouldn't stay in the Gold room but ask to have the Elephant room.
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phillip (9/5): Superb - Great location.
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional - The room was really quirky, and spotlessly clean! Hazel was really nice and welcoming, and the treats from the bear were very welcome! Also we were able to get in the room really early which was great . I can’t say there was anything I disliked!
- Josh (10/5): Wonderful rooms in a great location - The rooms were lovely. Amazingly decorated and very comfortable. There were pleasant treats with the bear and the elephants left for us by the hosts. Tea and coffee was provided in the rooms along with milk and some water. There was even some crockery and cutlery in case you wanted to eat in the room.
We were sad to only be staying one night! Only tiny downside is that the gold room doesn't have a toilet in the ensuite and you have to go across the hall, but it's really no big deal.
- Jodie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (7/5): Good - Lack of toilet in the room the only problem - other then that excellent!
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -

- Vijaya (9/5): Wonderful! Will happily stay there again :) - Great location. Lovely quirky art deco comfortable large clean room. Warm and friendly hospitality. A.perfect little micro pub with a fascinating array of beer cans and local beers on tap. Nothing really. The room had an en-suite but a very nice toilet was across the landing and though at first I wondered how we’d get on with it, it turned out to be no inconvenience at all.
- Eileen (10/5): A very enjoyable 3 night stay. We would certainly recommend "The Maverick Rooms" to friends. - Hazel, the host was very welcoming. The room was very spacious and also the bathroom was very large. Abundant hot water, lovely colourful fluffy towels and quirky decor throughout. Very large comfortable bed, lounging sofa, big jar of chocolates etc etc. We were completely satisfied with everything.

- Clare (9/5): Fab! - Wonderful room. So cosy and comfortable.
Check in easy. Great location.
- Jane (7/5): A Quirky Gem - We loved our stay - it was quirky and cosy and there were some lovely surprises like the bear bearing gifts! Upton is a lovely market town in a good location and The Maverick was very well placed with ample on street parking. We would stay again - it's a special, very English gem!
- Carol (10/5): Fabulously boutique chic and lovely owners thankyou for making our stay easy and pleasurable - A really unique fun boutique room with great facilities, fluffy towels for shower, comfy bed and a tray for coffee and tea

Lovely little treat as we walked in! Cutest bear - i wanted to take him home! Was so clean and the bed was soooo comfortable. Amazing recommendations for food. The pizza place next door was phenomenal.
Just all the little wonderful things made our stay!. I loved everything ❤️
- Adam (9/5): Superb -
