Guest Reviews
- Carlos (10/5): - Ze waren superlief, gaven goede tips waar je naartoe wilde gaan, verder hele vriendelijke mensen.
- Junbae (1/5): - no one answer
- cihat (10/5): - Everything
- Dennis (10/5): Good place to stay in Manchester for the budgeting type - The host and guest If anything it had no signage so Wasn’t obvious that this was the place .
- Martin David (10/5): Top Notch! - What an amazing happy place, yet despite a girl called Olivia who had her own agenda and eventually spoiled the status quo of the building for her own selfish reasons. Thankfully she may get the support she needs to seek, of the mental variety of course. Neil acted with aplomb and protected his most content guests and did what was needed under most difficult circumstances. What a hero, am so happy staying here amongst new found friends. Enjoy guys, you won’t be disappointed;) Nothing

- Martin David (10/5): Everybody Happy at the Freedom Hostel - Having great fun watching the owner Neil’s vlogs from his travels to Asia on his YouTube channel “FreeManNeil” as he is currently in Thailand and things are running swimmingly from afar via his friend Wayne and the guys managing the bookings and changing the bedding and maintaining standards of hospitality in his absence.
Everybody settled and loving their time at the Freedom Hostel, Radcliffe, Manchester Nothing

- Courtney (10/5): A true home away from home Neil is a legend! - I had a fantastic stay at Freedom Hostel. What makes this place special is the personal touch, it’s run by Neil, who is an incredible host. Without a big team of rotating staff, the vibe is much more authentic and welcoming.
Neil goes out of his way to make sure you’re settled and has the best local knowledge he’s always happy to point you toward the best spots. The hostel itself has a great, relaxed energy and is clearly well cared for.
- G (1/5): - Not good 😐
- Ahmed (7/5): - Location was good and value for money was reasonable. However, I was disappointed because when I requested extra items like a blanket or pillow, they were not provided.
- Ian (10/5): -
- Gibson (5/5): Short - Warm welcome, comfortable bed and good price Welcome and helpfull host
- Martin David (10/5): Most enjoyable venue - My second stay was simply wonderful, so warm and comfortable and relaxing. The host Neil created a great communal atmosphere, sadly marred by a guy from Poland called Mike who was most surly, anti-social and who left stupid uncalled for negative feedback which in my opinion was most undeserved. Can’t wait to try out the pool area once it’s ready for use! Now on my 3rd stay, enjoying it immensely at the Freedom Hostel… Only that I didn’t find this place earlier
- Anderson (10/5): - I like the owner very friendly. The house was nice and very comfortable. None.
- Martin David (10/5): First class and so relaxing and enjoyable stay - What an amazing place, so friendly and hospitable. Truly a home from home. The host Neil goes out of his way to make everybody feel welcome and is most accommodating.
- Michal (1/5): - Host is alcohol addicted and very agresive.
- Olivia (10/5): Amazing - Neil made me feel so welcomed from the start. He cooked, ran me a bath and spent a lovely night with me. We were up all night having fun. Safe to say he had a happy ending.
- Michal (1/5): - Neil is alcohol addicted and very agressive. Hotel is very dirty

- Mark (7/5): Excellent value for money - Excellent value for money and two very friendly Staffordshire terrier dogs. Open smoking in the lounge. I had to retreat to my bed in bunk room. I didn't complain since I was staying for one night.

- Mohamed (7/5): Mixed feelings: Great host but rough around the edges - On the positive side, the location is convenient and the bedding was actually very comfortable. I must mention the manager: even though we didn't interact much, he seems like a genuinely good person and a great human being.
I would recommend this place to travelers on a tight budget who are just looking for a bed to crash in, but don't expect a standard hotel experience." However, there were some unexpected downsides. The arrival was quite intimidating with large pitbull dogs at the reception, and unfinished construction. The place feels a bit raw and is definitely missing a feminine touch in the decoration and arrangement.

- Victor (1/5): - N/A The booking had to be cancelled within the time scales as i could not get through to the Hostel. I telephoned the hostel on numerous times & to my surprise no one picked up the phone or even replied to my message, I was able to find a great alternative even slightly paid more, but peace of mind was provided . I would not recommend based on my experience.

- Ogunquit (9/5): The accommodation provided me a value for money. I formed a temporary family with WAYNE and BRAD - Different types of cereal was available
Cooking utensils were adequate
Condiments and spices provided
Constant supply of toiletries
Portable water for consumption etc No provision for quiet area to practice religion
Don't like being in contact with dog
- Frank (7/5): Good - Quiet area and friendly guests Just 1 toilet and shower for everyone
- uwem (1/5): I was unsettled, nothing interesting to speak about, from the presentation of the lady who opened. - I was scared of the presentation of the people I saw their and what they were doing and so I ran away. The whole place was filled with cigarettes smoke and the rooms are tight that it is difficult to get to your own bunk bed.
The rooms are shared together with men and women who are strangers sleeping in the same room, close to each other...

- Nurudeen Oluwatoyin (9/5): Very good! - I like the kindness and sincerity of the manager Neil Freeman. I didn't like the fact that I was the only student there. Others were visitor

- Ubaid (1/5): Very bad and unfortable . - No like there is pet. No comfortable. Nothing I like .
- Shreerang (2/5): - Couldn't find the place easily. It feels like someone's house converted to a hostel. Each small room has way too many people, no ventilation. Unclean..only one toilet for many many guests.

Thanks so much 😊
- Chris (8/5): Don't judge the book by its cover!! - The price was great for the going prices around Manchester. The owner was friendly and accommodating. The bunk beds seemed new with newish bedding and were very comfy, so in that sense, you'll sleep well. The accommodation was well placed to catch a bus or tram to Manchester. There was plenty of on street free car parking.
You get what you pay for, and it is excellent value locally. These are in no way negative points, just things to be aware of when booking. Many may be put off when they first arrive. BUT "Don't judge the book by its cover, or first impressions" From the outside you'll think your in the wrong place as it appears to be very much still under construction, which it is, so could probably be best opened when renovations completed, but i understand what the owner is doing and why. Don't stay if you don't like the look of big chosty dog that WILL bark when they first meet you, but later are fine if treated with respect. It's deffo more a home stay than hostel and will become more homely and have this feel as time goes by I'm sure. There appeared to be 6 rooms, each accommodating maybe 4 bunks, so that's 24 ppl, but there is only one inside family size bathroom. The pool and hot tub, though working, are like the rest of the place very much under construction.
All this said when your eyes are closed you could be in a 5 star accommodation and this is how I take all accomodation. So, ending on a positive. It's excellent value, and you're getting what you paid for.😀

- martijn (4/5): I’ve expected a bit more of it. They could and should make more of it - The hostel feels more like a private home still under renovation, which makes the first impression a bit messy. The living room and kitchen are functional but unfinished and look somewhat untidy. My room was fine after a long day of walking, though the lighting and finishing could be improved. The bathroom has potential too, but better cleaning and workmanship would make a big difference. Overall, definitely not a “10,” but also far from a “1” – more somewhere in between. (1/2) 2/2
The bathroom worked fine for a quick use, and the shower itself was hot with good pressure — though it could have been a bit cleaner. The atmosphere in the house is strongly influenced by smoking, which might not suit everyone. The common area and furniture were a bit worn, but people were friendly and even shared a drink and charger with me. My bed was clean, smelled fresh, and I slept surprisingly well (earplugs recommended). Overall, the vibe is very relaxed, though definitely centered around smoking.
