Guest Reviews
- stewart (9/5): Great staff in adjacent pub - Location 1 way system makes access tricky
- Tom Gibney (8/5): -
- Nicky (6/5): Deserves its mediocre rating. Looks great but poorly maintained and equipped - Well presented, spacious, well located, designated free parking Handed keys (politely) and left to get on with it, not shown around so no idea how to work anything, no appliance instructions in house or welcome pack. TV remote broken. Master bed dirty (many hairs and dust on deep skirting behind bed). Ensuite shower blocked so had to turn off before overflowed. Furniture broken (master bedroom drawers; kitchen unit doors and drawers). Kitchen ill equipped eg very worn pans; 4 wine glasses for house that sleeps 6+; 2 d/w tabs for 3 nights; hadn't restocked tea and coffee (no tea); random selection of cutlery/crockery/glassware. No bins in bathroom/bedrooms. Doggy/damp smell in internal hallway.

- Timtravels1983 (7/5): Apartment with a great location and everything you need! - Great location in Kendal, short walk to shops, pubs and close to Tesco Express. Apartment is spacious with lovely living/dining area and a decent size kitchen which is well equipped. Bedrooms are a good size and generally quiet in the evenings. Easy parking nearby, once you can find the small alleyway that the appartment/parking is located down. Beds are not super comfortable, especially the single beds. Mattress are old and could do with replacing. Not too bad for a couple of nights though. Bit of a damp smell in parts of the apartment, especially near the two back bedrooms.

- Mathias (8/5): - Layout. Decoration. Location. Exceptional service from both TJ and Lawrence. All in all a very positive experience. No washing machine in what is otherwise a very well-equipped kitchen. Some problems with plumbing which I feel should have been tested and sorted out prior to our arrival. A blind in the en-suite bathroom would make it less disconcerting when hotel staff are having a smoking break about a foot away through the opaque glass window ! Another minor niggle is that daily dishes are kept in a top cupboard behind a heavy fire door and smaller people cannot reach the ones on the top shelf.
- Doreen (9/5): The fleece cottage - Amazing location, plenty of parking, great pub. The cottage was decorated beautifully Could have done with a washing machine & more wine glasses.
- Fiona (7/5): - The location was excellent and the property was very pleasant and well-presented. It was lovely and cool inside especially as it was a heatwave outside. The pub staff were very friendly and helpful. It would have been good to have clearer arrival instructions as the postcode took us to Booths carpark and to get to the actual carpark for the cottage you have to go up an access only street and turn down a very narrow alley next to the pub. It could have said that in the instructions. We had to park outside the pub and go in to find out where to park but the barman was very helpful and directed us.
We had sent two messages on booking.com asking questions and trying to ensure the beds were made up as singles but we did not get a reply and two of the beds were still doubles. One of them couldn't change to two singles, which we knew, but we had been told this was a king size bed and it wasn't so the two who were sharing were a bit squashed.
The barman was very helpful and said he would ask the cleaners to change the bed into two singles but the cleaner refused I think so he did it himself. It took him about 40 minutes, which was a bit odd. However we realised why at the end when we stripped the beds as there were NO mattress protectors and NO pillow protectors and the bed he was changing did not have a fitted sheet so he was trying to put a slippery single straight onto a bare mattress and it took him a while. It wouldn't cost much to put mattress protectors and pillow protectors in place and it's not very sensible to ask people to strip the beds at the end of their stay when they're going to find stained mattresses and pillows and lumps of hair, which were VERY offputting at the end of the stay.
We didn't like the fact there was no cafetiere and we couldn't borrow one from the pub. I think almost everyone nowadays would expect a way to make proper coffee in a holiday cottage. Anyway we bought one in a local shop and donated it to the kitchen.
- Trevor (8/5): One night of convenience and comfort - Conveniently situated. Pub grub next door was good Used postcode for sat nav and that did not get us to the property. Entrance/exit through the shambles road was a bit tight.
- Kieran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ansar (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): Great location and a lovely quiet cottage - Great location and the cottage was really nicely laid out. Great lounge and kitchen Taps in the bathroom sink were not working
- Smith (7/5): Good - The size of the property was good and fairly well equipped. When I arrived we were unable to park in allotted places as builder had taken all spaces. On trying to leave the following day builders car blocked us in so we had trouble leaving. There were dead flies all through the property and the hot water tap in the bathroom didn't work.So there were some issues.
- Russ (8/5): Very good - Great location and huge living area The main shower did not close properly and the tap in the second bathroom was broken
- Emily (7/5): good value for money for a quick stopover -
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional - Great accommodation, very spacious and the pub is lovely too Picking up and dropping off the keys at the pub took a bit of time as the pub was very busy and then closed on drop off
- Richard (8/5): Very good - Fleece cottage was very warm, clean and spacious. Kitchen had everything you would need. We were a family of 5 staying across 3 bedrooms and there was not enough pillowcases for the family or duvet covers. Wifi also didn’t work down 1 side of the house.
- Simon (9/5): Great place to stay and enjoy Kendal - Fabulous central location, close to 17th century pub with great food & good staff.
- Laura (9/5): Lovely little cottage right in the centre of town - Very spacious and clean had everything you needed
- Louise (10/5): The perfect cottage and a brilliant location. - Beautiful property. Spacious and everything you need is provided. Main bathroom is lovely. Cold tap in the en suite was not working.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb - Good size, clean, well presented. Comfortable and spacious even for 5 or 6 adults. One very small thing...it would have been nice to have a pint of milk 😊 An excellent supply of tea/coffee/biscuits sufficient for all 5 adults, but no milk!
(If anyone else needs to get milk, turn right on the high street NOT left. A Tesco Local practically next door)
Biggest downside is managing to get to it. Maybe a more up to date SatNav would cope .....
- Helen (8/5): Very good -
- Max (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicola (7/5): Ideal for what we wanted it for, great location in the centre of Kendal - n/a
- Sin (8/5): Very good -
- Jayne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Audrey (5/5): Passable - Beautiful cottage and ideal for the shops and eating and drinking places Too noisy as the cottage was next door to a pub, there was no hot water in the ensuite
- Simon (10/5): fantastic gem. - location excellent, Rooms excellent, facilities excellent.. everyone in group loved it. nothing
- Ruth (7/5): Lovely location & property in Kendal - Lovely modern property, clean and very central to Kendal Being very central and next door to a pub means it is quiet noisy at night.
- Sarah (7/5): would book again and stay, it’s very central. provided the noise from the upstairs rooms could be dealt with. - the location was central to Kendal, it has 3 bedrooms, it is attached to the pub and there is excellent dining facilities and the food was great. parking is enough for two cars and there’s a outside area if it’s nice weather to eat. the property was cleanish, it had mould in the bedrooms and there was a hair over the bath, dust and cobwebs other than that the linen was clean and the towels. the upstairs rooms were noisier than we hoped. the first night was quiet, second was very loud and the people up acted as if it was daytime and could be as loud as they wanted.
- Hayley (10/5): Gorgeous home, fab location - Prompt and friendly service, home was immaculate, very quiet. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Nothing at all, no complaints.
- Gill (1/5): Disappointing and very frustrating - We weren't able to get into the property until 530pm
No clear instructions or rules within the property displayed or given
Toilet was blocked and despite us messaging and calling all day we then had to manage to do it ourselves
No pillow protectors or duvet protectors
Bathroom window nailed shut so is a fire hazard
