Guest Reviews
- Maria (6/5): Pleasant - The breakfast and hot water Smell humidity and it's preferable to ask for more blankets
- Dmitrii (8/5): Very good - Nice view from the balcony, hot water and clean bathroom. Place for parking under the roof. Mosquito net and comfortable bed There is a bit of mold in the room and could be noise in the morning cuz the owner got a small child
- Rachel (10/5): Great place to lay your head after a day exploring . Hot water , good food , kind host . - You can walk from Hatton Bus and Train station. We booked this place as in the middle of stage 7 Pekoe Trail. Location for us was 10/10
Family cooked us great Srilankan breakfasts and evening meals.
This is basic good value accommodation if you intend to explore the area and come home to a fabulous home cooked meal . If you want a day lounging around your room this is probably not for you. The shower room had many levels- bit of a hazard if needing the loo in the night!
- K (9/5): Superb - This was a great place, right off the trails at Hatton in the middle of the stage. I was so surprised at how thoughtful they had been with the space - there was a mosquito net, a charger with Euro plug options, and a fan, which is all the things that I needed. The dinner and breakfast were nice, though a bit sparse in comparison to some of the other places I stayed. Still loved it.
- János (8/5): Very good - Kind hosts, comfortable room. Close to the Pekoe Trail. The house is next to the railway. When a train comes it’s noisy and you feel its vibration. Anyway the place is calm.
- Sjoerd (10/5): Best place to Stay - The family are very hospitality kind friendly helpfull human. Perfect place to stay, location ok, view amazing and everything nearby
I stay 4 nights and they provide me breakfast & dinner for free. Rajen has tuktuk and he drived me to Warnagala falls and Sri Pada Adam's Peak
Nice big clean room with openbalcon door, good bed to sleep and bathroom with hot shower Nothing
- Jiri (6/5): Good value for the price - Very helpful hosts, took us to Tea castle and waterfalls nearby in his tuktuk for a very fair price. The hosts do not speak very good English, but the communication is clear. The room is simple, but with mosquito net and hot shower. The wifi was working fine. The accomodation was very noisy, the doors had a big vent above so we heared every word/yell there was. The location is right next to the railway, so we got woken up multiple times during the night by passing train. We only got one towel and one blanket for two people. There are a spots on the walls / ceiling. But for one night and the price it’s fine.
- Marthe (10/5): Unreal hospitality!! - Unreal hospitality by the family!! Got breakfast and dinner for free, and the double bed was very comfy! Highly recommend as a home stay!!
- Tina (10/5): Exceptional - Really great accommodation for this price.
Family is really friendly and nice.
Room was really big, nice and clean. They also have warm shower.
100% reccomended
- Annemarie (9/5): Superb - We had such a wonderful time, this friendly family made us feel at home, so welcoming! We had many nice chats, did some really nice things in the area (tea factory, waterfall and Adam’s peak), they cooked us a delicious dinner, we learned a lot! Thank you so much! Highly recommended to stay!
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional - A perfect place for Pekoe hikers and others. The home made dinner was delicious and the staff very welcoming! I highly recommend staying here.
- Giulia (10/5): Exceptional - Nice, clean room. Very friendly family. We got tea when we arrived & the wife cooked rice & curry for dinner. Beautiful location & nice view from the rooftop.
- Niklas (10/5): A big recommendation for anyone visiting Hatton! - I went by train to Hatton for the Adam's Peak. I am really glad that I stumbled upon Shane HomeStay. They picked me up from the train station, offered dinner and breakfast and organized a transport to the Adam's Peak. The host family was amazing and I felt really looked after. I would recommend this accomplished to anyone visiting Hatton. The breakfast included a lot of toast, which is not really healthy. But for a hike to Adam's Peak, you'll need a lot of carbs, so that's good.
- Edit (9/5): Superb - The family was very warm and welcoming. They picked me up at the train station after waiting for me a lot because my train was delayed. The same day Shane, the son of my hosts had his 9th birthday and I was invited to participate the celebration with them. It was a heartwarming experience!
Throughout my stay, I was offered lots of nice homemade food and tea, and there was always enough filtered water available. This level of hospitality is truly amazing! Thank you 😊 The house is right next to the train tracks. While during the day it's a lot of fun to watch the trains go by, at night it can be too loud. I recommend using earplugs for sleeping so this and other noises will not wake you up.
- Philipp (9/5): Superb - Super welcoming and friendly family. I got a free dinner and breakfast, so very good value for the money.
I stayed just one night and had a tuk tuk, so it wasn’t a problem that it is a bit far from all restaurants.
Would stay here again.
