• Susan (4/5): Can do better - We had high expectations for our stay at Laborie, given its reputation, but unfortunately the experience fell short of what we anticipated. A few issues made our stay less comfortable than it should have been. The heated towel rail in our room was not functioning, which was particularly frustrating because of the cold mornings. The WiFi for TV and /internet reception was also very poor throughout our stay.. Breakfast was perhaps the biggest disappointment…we waited 45 minutes to be served, which is simply not acceptable for an establishment of this standard. It left a sour note on what should have been a relaxed morning. Laborie has so much potential and the setting is beautiful, but the experience needs to match the surroundings. We hope these issues are addressed, as we would love to return with more confidence in the service.

• Shaun (1/5): - The views. My room had an ant infestation and I found a cockroach in the bathroom. I reported the ant problem to the hotel staff and there was no apology for the inconvenience caused. They merely cleaned up the dead ants after I sprayed the ants with some doom spray I found in the room. In addition, the room was extremely hot and the air conditioner in the room could not be adjusted. I reported the problem to the hotel staff and there was no apology. They initially refused to adjust the settings. They rather advised that due to the weather, the rooms were receiving warm air and the air conditioners could not be individually adjusted. After persistent complaints from me, they eventually attended to the problem. Once again, there was no apology from the hotel staff or management. This is not what I expected from a hotel with such expensive rates.

Beim Dinner konnten wir auf der Terrasse einen letzten Sommerabend genießen. Schöner Pool, wunderbar gepflegte Parkanlage. Der Service ist erstklassig und unser Aufenthalt am Ende einer mehrwöchigen Reise war sehr erholsam. nichts :-)

It was the perfect place to experience the Winelands, combining co - My wife and I really appreciated how peaceful, beautiful and well-kept Laborie Estate was. The setting is stunning, with a relaxed atmosphere, lovely surroundings and a real sense of history. It also made for an excellent base in Paarl, allowing us to easily explore Stellenbosch and Franschhoek while having a calm and welcoming place to return to each day. Nothing worth mentioning.

• Chantal (10/5): Amazing hotel - We had such a wonderful stay! The check-in process was really smooth, and we absolutely loved our room. The bed was super comfortable, the aircon worked perfectly, and the view from our balcony was simply breathtaking. We really appreciated the thoughtful touches, like fresh water provided daily and complimentary access to everything in the mini fridge. These small details made our stay feel extra comfortable and convenient. Breakfast was delicious every single day, with so many options to choose from. We also loved exploring the estate. It was beautifully maintained, with two different restaurants, picnic options, and even a little farm grocery. The pool was another highlight for us. It was gorgeous, and having a pool bar right there made it even more enjoyable. Honestly, there was very little we didn’t love. Everything exceeded our expectations. Between the stunning views, the relaxing atmosphere, and the delicious food, this was the perfect mini-moon escape. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and luxurious getaway.

• Lynn (7/5): It is a gem but you need to be in the right rooms - The breakfast and location both excellent - I would recommend and return to Laborie o first of all, i would have liked to have been offered the rooms closer to the reception and not have to drive to our room which I did not really like..I paid to get a better room, the pool at the top was also nicer.. we did not see those rooms and would definitely have been happier to stay there. The food at the restaurant and the breakfast - both good and loved the vista at breakfast. We wanted to walk around the property and were told that there was nowhere to walk - we landed up having a good walk and there were arrows to let us know where to go, so the receptionist was uninformed about that which would be disappointing for other people.

The property and offering in general were amazing. Its incredible to be just off the main road but feel like you're up in the winelands/mountains. The balcony has a corrugated iron roof, which, during this time of year, is not ideal for acorns (and tree dabree during a storm) falling from the tree. I usually would not complain about something like this, but it is wildly loud, and I would suggest that a solution be implemented for this.

• Eline Van Haute (10/5): Heerlijk verblijf! - Wat een geweldige ervaring. Het personeel is uitzonderlijk vriendelijk en doet er alles aan om je verblijf te optimaliseren. De kamer was ruim opgezet met voldoende plek voor ons en 2 kinderen, alles heel schoon en netjes. We hadden zelf de wine club geboekt wat met twee kids niet het beste idee bleek, echter er werd alles aan gedaan zodat we ons op ons gemak voelden en ook van de ervaring konden genieten. De omgeving is daarbij ook nog eens prachtig. Een van m'n favoriete verblijven ooit!

• Jeff (8/5): Een prachtig estate met geweldige villa’s en veel potentie, maar de service van de receptie is helaas zwaar onder de maa - Laborie Estate is werkelijk een waanzinnig mooie plek met enorm veel potentie. Wij verbleven in de villa (op 1 minuut rijden van het estate) en die was echt fantastisch. De kamers zijn ruim, stijlvol en comfortabel ingericht. De tuin met zwembad is prachtig onderhouden en voelt als een oase van rust. Ook willen we graag benoemen dat het personeel bij de slagboom en de schoonmakers ontzettend vriendelijk, professioneel en servicegericht waren, echt een compliment waard. Helaas verdient het receptiepersoneel wat ons betreft een flinke onvoldoende. Op maandag werd ons toegezegd dat we op de dag van uitchecken tegen betaling een andere kamer konden krijgen voor een late check-out. We hoefden dit alleen nog even de dag vóór vertrek te komen betalen. Toen we dit wilden regelen, bleek er ineens geen kamer beschikbaar. Hierdoor moesten wij op onze laatste dag, terwijl we pas ’s nachts vlogen, halsoverkop op zoek naar een andere accommodatie. Wat dit extra teleurstellend maakte, was het gebrek aan excuses en oplossingsgerichtheid. Er werd niet meegedacht over een alternatief, zoals het regelen van een day spa bij een ander estate. Tijdens ons verblijf hebben we meerdere momenten gehad waarop de houding van de receptie ongeïnteresseerd overkwam. Het voelt alsof de service niet in verhouding staat tot de prijs van het verblijf. We hebben onze onvrede via WhatsApp bij de receptie gemeld, maar daar werd niet meer op gereageerd. Ook een mail naar de facility manager bleef onbeantwoord

• Kerstin (6/5): - Nice property, especially for kids. Staff was nice, but not very helpful. We were given a room overlooking the parking instead of the vineyards. The staff told us they just show the rooms with the nice view for “marketing reasons”. As the view was one of the main factors to book the place this was very disappointing and staff didn’t handle that appropriately.

The rooms are well maintained, the bed is exceptionally comfortable, and the bathroom was more spacious than expected. The swimming pool is stunning, breakfast was enjoyable, and there are plenty of engaging activities to experience around the farm. There are also multiple on-site restaurants serving excellent food at very reasonable prices. There was absolutely nothing to dislike about our stay.

• Thomas (9/5): Great stay at a historic wine estate - Laborie is a stunning wine estate. The room type features beautiful vineyard views, is very spacious, comfortable and clean. Exceptional breakfast, great staff. I guess with certain rates come certain expectations. Compared to other upmarket wine estates, we found the overall experience very good, but not exceptional. One example are the amenities provided in the room or the service at the pool. In addition, the water pump located near the balcony (room 3) made a lot of noise.
• Nikki (10/5): Relaxing stay in great accommodation - Absolutely loved the wine estate. Rooms were incredibly large with the best facilities. Looking forward to our next stay when the Spa will be built and this will add another dimension. Lack of managerial presence. It would have been lovely if a senior member of staff checked-in on the guests occasionally to make them feel valued.
• Jakub (9/5): - Wspaniała posiadłość, przepiękna Winnica, rewelacyjna jakość pościeli, materaca i ręczników. Bardzo dobre śniadanie ala carte, wybór ze szwedzkiego stołu średni. Kosmetyki w łazience prima sort. Zarezerwowałam pokój z woskiem na winnicę, otrzymałam z widokiem na parking. Niestety hotel nie stanął w tym aspekcie na wysokości zadania. Poza tym brak uwag.
• Julie (10/5): Luxury accommodation on a picturesque wine estate. - Spacious bedroom suite with stunning views of the vineyards from the balcony. Excellent breakfast options. Two pools enabled guests to swim or lounge in the water as they preferred. A little above the price for similar properties in the area.

• Christopher (8/5): Not as nice as last year. - We had understood from media reports that only Giovanni’s Restaurant had burnt down, whereas the fire had also destroyed the accommodation block containing the rooms we had booked. We were therefore upgraded to a suite, which was nice and the room was really large and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was not great, all the hot food was cold. Both days of our visit. The swimming pool and area is far too small with insufficient sun beds and umbrellas. We had the impression that the facilities were a bit overcrowded after the fire.
• Marina (10/5): Luxueus verblijf op het prachtige Laborie Estate - De prachtige suite met uitzicht op de wijngaarden. Fantastisch bed en douche. De zorg van het personeel De vriendelijke ontvangst en je kan voor alles rekenen op de mensen van de receptie Het restaurant Stoep met live band Niks

• Stephan (9/5): Always home from home for us! - Beautiful location. Breakfast options are only a few, and the buffet is not too good. Also, there is a pump of some kind outside of the rooms that makes sitting outside unpleasant.
• John (10/5): Tranquility & superb food & wine and exceptional accommodation within a lovely friendly atmosphere- what a backd - Location is stunning, facilities are beautiful & immaculate with the staff going out of their way to be friendly & helpful I loved it

• Christopher (6/5): Lovely but lots of bad points sadly - We had two rooms, with another couple, friends of ours. One room had no main building key, no alarm key, no safe key and the AC unit leaked water over the bed in the middle of the night. There were no staff on duty so no one to call. Also there was nowhere to eat at all in the Hotel on Sunday night, nothing at all. We know the Italian recently burnt down but having no eating facilities was not acceptable. Sorry but we expected more. See above
