Guest Reviews
- David (10/5): Nice relaxing location - friendly hotel with superb food! - Lovely hotel on the quiet harbour front. Spacious newly decorated room with new ensuite. Very comfortable. Very friendly and helpful couple running the hotel - nothing too much trouble. Highlight was the evening meal - no menu - we were asked for preferences in the morning, and food freshly sourced and expertly cooked for the evening! Best hotel food ever (and huge portions).

- Nina (10/5): Splendid days in Stronsay hotel. We highly recommend it. - Very nice and comfortable. Splendid food. Duncan and his wife was very helpful, and really wanted us to feel at Home. Nottingham
- DK Soul (10/5): The perfect Stronsay experience. - A wonderfully comfortable room in an excellent location, close to the ferry terminal, and to local facilities. The family who run the hotel are perfect for the location: she is a warm and welcoming hostess, while he is an excellent chef. They both bent over backwards to make us feel at home and to ensure we had a great time enjoying the wonders of Stronsay. We honestly did not want to leave. THANK YOU. Nothing.
- Niamh (10/5): Perfect - We had a beautiful spacious room ~ dog friendly hotel overlooking the pier - delicious breakfasts and dinner options ~ if you are a walker / dog person it has everything you want. Nothing to dislike here.
- Keith (10/5): Beautiful island and outstanding hosts - Warm welcome.
Our hosts went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Excellent food and a good bar, well stocked. Excellent, tastefully furnished and decorated room. Very good bathroom. We were lucky to get some good weather on Stronsay. The island is quiet, peaceful and beautiful, and the coastline is scenic and good for bird-watching (take your binoculars). Ideal for a walking holiday.
- Lewandowski (9/5): Superb - Very easy to find as it is straight ahead off the ferry! Small, quaint, quiet hotel. Our room was spacious, comfortable, updated. Meals prepared by Duncan were amazing! One of the highlights was when he offered to make whatever we fancied for breakfast! Public areas are tight. We were meeting up on Stronsay with extended family, so an area where we could all gather together would have been nice. A few things that could have made our stay better: a direct phone or message board to reach staff, a little better signage regarding location of dining room, how to work mechanicals in room, etc.
- Margaret (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Incredible gem of a find on a remote island - Lovely place. Food was exceptional Nothing
- Ruth (8/5): Very enjoyable, real island community hospitality - Friendly staff, good meals, comfortable room, laid-back atmosphere
- Jörg (10/5): The beautiful hotel and the quiet, beautiful Stronsay gave us a great time. - The hotel couple was very friendly and we had interesting conversations with them.
The room was very nice and modern, and the bathroom and shower were very comfortable. The heater in the bathroom and the heater in the bedroom kept the rooms pleasantly warm. We could adjust both individually.
We especially enjoyed the excellent food and service, which we were able to enjoy for six days. I wouldn't know what to write here.
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional - Staff where absolutely lovely, couldn't do enough for you... Friendly, helpful, Nothing
- Ingirid (8/5): Lovely island - Full English breakfast was excellent. Location was in the village and walking distance to a small beach, bikes were available but a car is good for reaching the fantastic beaches,
- Cliff (8/5): Friendly island hotel acccomodation - Very friendly, small hotel, near the ferry on Stronsay island. We ate our evening meal there and the food was excellent. A great base for touring the island. Would definitely stay again Small detail - their Wi-Fi didn’t reach the bedroom
- Robert (10/5): An outstanding wee island hotel - A small hotel with a friendly, relaxing atmosphere on one of Orkney’s North Isles. The hotel, just a metre or two from the ferry pier, is part of the historic old village, but inside it has been completely renovated. My room was cosy and quiet, with a comfortable bed and a new en-suite bathroom. Staff go out of their way to help. Options for eating on the island were a bit limited whilst I was there, but luckily breakfast and dinner were available at the hotel. All my meals were thoughtfully prepared and exceptionally good. I think a rating of 10 is well-deserved. The bar was friendly - a band playing Orcadian music performing one of the nights I was there.
It’s possible to borrow mountain bikes and e-bikes on the island. I borrowed a mountain bike from the island’s Development Trust and found Stronsay an ideal size for exploring; not too big and not too hilly. Nothing
- Hilary (10/5): The hotel met all our expectations and beyond - We received a warm welcome from the staff. The rooms are lovely - clean and comfortable. The chef talked to us about each meal and our dietary requirements. The meals were delicious. Definitely would return to Stronsay and stay again in the Stronsay Hotel. Wifi was not good - but we came to enjoy the island.
- Rogers (10/5): Great two days on a very peaceful island - Location at end of ferry pier was ideal. Food was tasty and generous. Staff all exceptionally friendly and very helpful. We were sad to leave,
- Catherine (10/5): Great wee hotel with a cosy bar and amazing food. - Lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Great food and helpful staff.
- Danny (8/5): Very good -
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional -
