Guest Reviews
- Kieran (8/5): - Old courtyard hotel in an interesting location.
A short walk to the railway station and a long but direct walk to the seafront.
Very good breakfast.
After initial disappointment I quite liked the place. By A couple of cockroaches, and the very small shower stall.
I'd been expecting a smarter hotel for the price.
- Riccardo (4/5): Old Fashioned Hotel - The location is quite good, near the main tourist attractions Light enters in the morning in the room.
Smell of smoke in the corridors.
Facilities a bit neglected.
The cat is a great mascot, but I would keep it away from the breakfast area.
- Nikolai_Ivanov (5/5): A Classic Hotel with Potential, but in Need of Renovation - This hotel seems like it was once a truly impressive and luxurious place, and you can still feel some of that former charm. However, the property is quite old now and clearly needs renovation. While the stay was decent overall, the rooms - especially the bathroom and toilet areas - require significant updates and repairs. With proper refurbishment, this hotel could regain its past elegance.
- Meruyert (1/5): - The staff was good and bed sheets were quite clean. The area of the hotel, streets around were awful. I haven't seen reviews about the dangerous surrounding of this hotel. Only when we arrived the taxi driver told us "Do Not go out at night, as it is problematic area".

- Yunus Emre (9/5): -
- Jorge (1/5): Bad - I didn’t like at all It was spiders
- Teruyuki (6/5): Good - The staff are very friendly. The Wi-Fi didn't work in the room. I think it was under construction.

- Doina (10/5): - Totul.Locatia in orasul vechi, micul dejun, amabilitatea personalului, parcarea.

- Andrew (10/5): -
- Kondrateva (6/5): - Pretty good breakfast, excellent location, comfortable bed, friendly stuff There aren't chairs in the room. The bathroom is not equipped even with hooks, here is nowhere to hang a towel
- Abidin (5/5): -
- Ryszard (9/5): -
- Frans (6/5): - - voldoende was niet erg schoon. badkamer/douche smerig
- Azimov (10/5): -
- rachid (6/5): -
- Dubravko (8/5): Nice little hotel in a bit crowdy and rusty, but authentic and nice neighborhood. - The hotel itself is in the old central part of Izmir. The streets are very narrow and busy. We had a free parking space nearby. The whole city, and specially the old bazzar is in walking distance. Nothing special
- Kostandina (5/5): -
- Diana (8/5): Personal molt amable i atent en tot moment. - Bon esmorzar típic turc. Bons formatges, dolços i diferents tipus de pa. Era tipus buffet i podies esmorzar a la terrassa interior planta baixa de l'hotel.
- J (7/5): Good -
- Tina (8/5): Very good - The Antikhan with its historic past was built in 1853 and once owned by Ataturk’s father. As the name suggests it was a Han, providing lodgings for merchants and room for their merchandise and, probably for this reason, is built around a lovely central courtyard.
When I think of the Antikhan hotel one word comes to mind, Naz. She shone. As a woman travelling alone I arrived at night speaking no Turkish and no one else spoke English. Naz, with her dazzling smile went out of her way to help me through the obvious difficulties.
In the morning there was a very helpful young man on the desk, another asset, who spoke good English, and resolved any linguistic difficulty. As always it is the staff who make a place. This was the second time I had stayed at the Antikhan.
- Georgia (3/5): Not worth it, honestly pay a bit more and stay somewhere else - Good breakfast, location quick market walk to the city centre - but ONLY good in the day. 2 second walk to an ancient site but no view to it. Court yard nice - room was unclean, thick dust and dirt
- rude staff, not willing to help
- no cleaning staff for the rooms so you have to repeatedly ask them for things
- neighbourhood and street would not be safe for a woman on her own, groups of men outside cat calling
- no working WiFi
- poor shower pressure
- old decrepit furniture
- mattress bad to the point it hurt my husband’s back
- Javier (10/5): A nice family run historical hotel - It's a historical family hotel running since 1857.
You will experience a confortable bed and pretty nice breakfast in a charming patio in the morning with a friendly atmosphere.
- Paraskevi (4/5): Disappointing -
- Honorata (7/5): Good - Vibe of the place and neighborhood Some insects in my room but stuff changed the room while requested
- Bojana (4/5): Disappointing - the staff very nice reception always helpful, the location easy to navigate very close to the centre, breakfast ok the room smells of smoke, awful smell, every furniture was smelly, the bad was dirty, toalet very dirty
- Oli (8/5): Cheap spot in a great place with a perfect breakfast - Breakfast is immense, staff super helpful after my flight arrived very late. Extremely close to the centre and everything is walkable. Not the most spotless room but for the price and everything included it’s mega value
- Marta (9/5): Superb -
- Maria (8/5): Great price and location! 4 min to Pier! Friendly Staff. - I liked that the hotel is in such a great location, just 4 minutes to the pier. I liked that it is so close to Kemeralti and that it was very affordable. The room was descent and clean. There were alot of outlets to plug in our devices. The morning staff was great! Update all the amenities in the room. I couldn't do a late check out either.
- Alexandra (10/5): Nice place good location would recommend - Good location near to the markets and short walk to sea front, staff very helpful and friendly, room was nice and spacious, breakfast was good and had proper coffee (which my mum was very excited about )
- Swaf (8/5): Very good -
- Olivia (8/5): Very good -
- Mohsin (7/5): Good -
- Panagiotis (9/5): Superb -
- Jasmina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Dima (1/5): Bad - Dirtiest hotel I ever lived no way again!!! Everything
Hairs everywhere and smells like old Irish pub
- Gert (1/5): Worst hotel on the planet - Nothing Horrible hotel, worst I have ever experienced. Dirty, extremely noisy, linen are not linen. Shower filthy. The breakfast was shocking. I will advise everyone I know to avoid this hotel like the plaque
- Enrique (6/5): Pleasant - If you extend your stay, be sure to ask for a receipt to avoid any issues later.
- Vasileios (3/5): Never again - It needs a good renovation to attract its old charm It is not clean, it is totally run down, they should recall the license of operation
- Damian (3/5): Only two nights, but kind of hard. - Good location, pretty good price, nice place for breakfast. Hostel was old, it was visible, that a lot of things needed refreshing. Instead of one big bed we received one combined with two smaller beds and only one small blanket as a cover. The receptionist gave me the second blanket, which propably was coming from another bed and doesn’t look clean. The first day water was cold. Almost no one from the staff spoke english. Luckily we received another, better room for the second night.
- Sophie (6/5): Good value place to stay - It was a good place to stay for a night. There is secure parking close by and the room was clean and spacious.
We had a good breakfast in the morning. We didn't have a view from our window, it was overlooked by other windows and the hot water wasn't working while we were there, but it was ok for a night and a good price compared to other places in Izmir.
- Billy (10/5): Simply first class ! - First class location super professional staff traditional tasty breakfast and to top it all she ch a great bargain ! Nothing Not to like !
- William (10/5): Great bargain hotel lovely people great location ! - Location price friendliness Nothing
- Michael (7/5): Funky. - Great vibe and great staff, excellent coffee right next door. Interesting street with many small stores and friendly people. Parking of my motorbike right in front. It’s a bit rough. I think the booking.com gets the rooms that aren’t the best.
- Anar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mahmoud (5/5): Passable for short stay only to be centrally located - Very cheap location nearby Low-quality, photos were taken maybe since the opening or were done using some photoshop tools as the equipment were extremely old and mostly unfunctional.
Mold and dust is everywhere, not well cleaned.
Breakfast was very simple but the products that finishes were never refilled, even if you come at 9 AM few things will be already missing.
- Nax77 (8/5): Very good - Excelent ratio price quality
- Ristea (2/5): Better not book here - It was near the city centre and the host was ok. The room was very dirty, there where dead cockroaches on the floor, the furniture was old and broken, there was a lot of dust everywhere, what was even worse was the bathroom. The toilet didn’t flush properly and the shower was really filthy. Not all the power outlets worked.
- Ani (8/5): Very good -
- Tazul (8/5): Very good experience - Location and value for money Old and dated
- Karimova (5/5): Passable -
- Gyokan (7/5): Good -
- Matthijs (7/5): Old hotel but it is ok - Good Breakfast and very helpful staffs Hotel does not change towels even if we stayed in 5 days
- Tanveer (1/5): The worst, worst, worst and I can add one more worst. The room was extremely dirty with full of mosquitos. AC was not wo - Worst ever hotel. The staff was rude.
No cleaning, no house keeping, bad breakfast.
- Mihai (4/5): A once charming place with terrible hygiene and bad smell - It is a quiet place, in a reasonably good location, although the street itself is a bit weird at night (not unsafe). The inn sure had some charm in its days, with its antique look and nice shady interior garden. Breakfast is OK-ish, if you're not too demanding. Best thing about it - it's quiet and you can rest (if you can bear the cigarette smell and you ignore the dirty environment). Very dirty room: bathroom not clean, room not even vacuumed, stuff on the floor from other guests, if you look through the heater's grill you find at least 20 years' worth of visitors' history. The cigarette smell is almost unbearable. We left the window open combined with aircon at max just to be able to breathe (after 3 days and nights we aired 70% of the smoke out). Everything is old and run down, which would be ok if it were at least cleaned with a minimal interest. Receptionist is bored and speaks no English, impossible to communicate. Not a good value for money at all.
- Daniele (5/5): Passable -
- Elena (8/5): Very good - Location was awesome for our purpose. The staff supported us when we needed something. Havving a bed sheet with a cigarette burn.
The hotel needs to improve there room delivery partner for better food.
- Dumitru (5/5): Passable -
- Abbas (7/5): Good - Location is good, best price best performance A bit dirty, smelss bas
- Anis (4/5): Disappointing - Diverse and correct breakfast
Good location near the famous basar of Izmir Very dirty hotel
No room tidying throughout our stay
No elevator
Poorly frequented neighborhood
- Anshum (6/5): Pleasant -
- Orion06 (3/5): Poor - The staff was very friendly. They were pretty helpful. Helped us to find some gems in the city and gave us detailed instructions. Windows were not working properly, it was impossible to lock them, and there was no isolation from the street; we could hear all the conversations on the street. There were some people yelling at each other and throwing stuff inside the corridor. We couldn't feel safe and couldn't sleep.
- Muhammad (8/5): Very good -
- Wardle (6/5): Pleasant - Lovely old style hotel
- Salahuddin (1/5): Horror stay, never again - Nothing other than night staff could sympathise and understand the horror issues we went through in the hotel. The rooms were very dirty with cobwebs, insects and no room facilities. I had to get the staff to resolve the air conditioning issue several times and it was still not fully functioning.
Staff was mostly rude and walked off doing their errands while I was complaining about the issues.
The breakfast was non existent and we were often told sorry we ran out by 8.00 in morning.
We were told to keep the noise down in morning because we had kids, this is extremely rude and doesn’t help when hotel facilities were already so poor.
Rooms had slug and cockroach
We were told by staff to vacate property a day early as we were complaining about legitimate issues about the facilities and accommodation.
This hotel deserves 0 star. Worse ever experience
- Lorna (8/5): Good location, cheap and comfortable - Very welcoming staff, good location, good breakfast on the patio My room was fine but had some friends whose rooms had broken furniture - the decor was in need of updating but it’s a budget hotel 🤷♀️
- Shehzad (1/5): Did not like the stay at all - Did not like anything about it They are lier fake pictures
- Abdiadil (10/5): Very good place to stay. Adequate personel. - The parking lot was perfect. It is near the hotel. The staff were kind and helpfull. Good value for money.
- Zaheer (9/5): Superb - Very kind people
Fantastic location for such an inexpensive hotel
Breakfast is yummy
There are local shops around Toilets nit very clean
- Oleksiy (5/5): Passable - I arrived early in the morning and was checked in. Friendly staff, although they do not speak English, but everything can be clarified through a translator. The pictures do not correspond to the real condition of the room, the air conditioner did not cool the air, it is very noisy outside the windows. Mold in the bathroom
- Pablo (9/5): Very good and definetely recommended. - The relation between price, location and comfort is quite good. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom is well equipped. The room counts with very good Air conditioning, quite necessary in Izmir, and a small fridge that is also very useful to keep bottled water. There is a water dispenser next to the lobby and you can get water anytime you want. Considering the wifi, except for some few hours one morning, it worked perfect every single day at all times. It is quite close to Cankaya Metro station, and that makes ir also quite comfortable. The breakfast is Ok: cheese, cucumbers, boiled eggs, olives, tea, some sweet things, but there were no fruits, yogurt, cereals, liquid milk or prepared coffee (you had instant coffee powder, to prepare it yourself with hot water... something that I don't find really nice). I understand these might not be the typical ingredientes of a Turkish breakfast, but I really missed the fruits and yogurt. This could be improved. Moreover, considering the fact that I am not from Turkey, I have to mention that only one of the receptionists was fluent in English (really helpful and nice), but the other people working at the hotel didn't speak English, as far as my experience is concerned. This brought, for example, some complications when I wanted to ask for help in a situation I had at night.
- Noemi (7/5): Good -
- Mugdim (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sasu (1/5): Never go there - Nothing, it was the worst place booked ever Everything. After first night I left to another location even if I paid for 5 nights. You can't pay via Booking. com, they take your money when you arrive, not when you leave. I just left from there the second day and it was the best decision. Dampness, very very old furniture in very bad condition, electrical cables coming out from the wall and not very well isolated.
- Ioanna (7/5): Good value for money. Nice location - The young guy at the reception was friendly and helped us with recommendations, in the English language.
The location was very central to the old town The room was not so clean
The lights didn't work well and only one socket.
- Johan (10/5): Pleasant stay - Very nice and cosy hotel close to the bazaar and centre of the city. Breakfast is very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Thank you, Ingin for your support and nice conversations. Will come back in the future. -
- Lucy (3/5): Poor - Location was OK Not even a bedside lamp. Puddle on the bathroom floor from the shower or toilet.
- Rebecca (7/5): Had to change room as water leak in bathroom, room was worse than the original. Smoking in rooms at night, so all my thi - Location Bathroom old, stains in showers
- Piotr (4/5): Disappointing - Hard to find something positive about this place to be honest. Maybe the view from my room's window going to the nice patio. Besides that, highly advise against staying there! Far from what I saw in the pictures. The hotel was old, not renovated for a long time, not best cleaned, all the furnitures had traces of use, AC didn't work, TV neither. The water in the bathroom was flowing slowly and general conditions of the room were disgusting.
- Omar (9/5): Great stay. - Nice open area to enjoy breakfast. Parking was a bit cumbersome.
