Booking.com botched our reservation and our host didn't know that we were travelling with two children. As we arrived late, this made our landing a little tricky, as we had to sort out extra beds, which Richard was kind enough to help out with, and shuffle some furniture around the suite. Otherwise the stay was just what we needed: near to blue with good value.

The cabin was comfortable, clean, a bit esthetically disjointed but had all the things we needed for our short family getaway. We were 7 adults and had plenty of room and space to sleep and move around especially with the cool Murphy beds! Richard was the highlight of our stay! His great sense of humour, warm accommodating welcome and detailed explanation of the amenities of the cabin were excellent! He was only a text away if we needed anything! Overall, we had a great stay! The trails could use a bit of trimming indeed.

• Kenneth (2/5): Very poor - The place had bbqs and a multiple rooms. The fact that most rooms had a kitchenette and bathroom was definitely plus but the bbqs were extremely dirty and outdated. The bedrooms were a good size but with very outdated and uncomfortable furniture. The Murphy bed was the mostcomfortablebed. Where can I start. I have never in my life been to a cottage/lodge rented or not that where I have had the experience and interactions with the owner ad here. Right from the start we were treated like a bunch of teenagers in a jail. The owner ( Richard ) is a nice man but he is very intrusive and disrespectful. We booked for 2 nights and were constantly being interruptedby Richard and the other staff lady. They are constantly on the property as you get no privacyat all. They are breathing down your neck and you feel like your walking on eggshells We booked the cottage for a weekendfor a softball tournament and none of us enjoyed ourselves because of this. We are grown men you dont need to remind us 5 plus times that the sound needs to be off by 10:30 pm. First of all it's 11pm and secondly you dont need to tell us 5x at check in and then be reminded like a child at 930 pm. We had just got back from our games and were getting dinner we just wanted to listento some music quietly. You are very annoying as a host. You shouldn'tbe there all the time annoying and calling your guests over silly things. The other thing is that when we arrived the place smelled like composting bananas as there were a bunch in compost bin with lid off. Another thing is there is no range hood in kitchen and when we made bacon in the morninghe lost it when fire alarms went off cooking bacon and made us feel like a bunch of kids. Get a range hood if you dont want some smoke. And when it happens dont attack your guests. Your paying guests!! He also tried to charge us to use wood provided for a fire!! I also dont believeI was given the rooms I booked as I was ensured I bookedthe whole property and Noone else would be staying there. That wasn't true as first night we had other couple sleeping in we had to be quiet. We were grown men trying to have a good time.

• U (8/5): It has been a wonderful stay and a peaceful night for us. - I like the landlord's enthusiasm and approachability to make our stay great and comfortable. The basic kitchen tools and other stuff were also there that make it convenient for us. We had a longer waiting time outside the property because of the parking space. One of the guest's car is blocking a portion of the driveaway.

We had quite long chats with Richard who travelled a lot and shared with us his experience. A lot of information regarding facilities, restaurants and trails was provided. Location was excellent, very quiet and close to main towns and the Blue Mountain resort. I am not sure I can pick anything. Everything was very well organized.

My furry daughter was very happy, she had less restriction staying at the property vs a hotel. My husband enjoy the trail. Area is quiet, we slept better than the time we stayed at a hotel in the village. The bed is good, but liner is a little bit over scented for us.

• Chris (4/5): It worked for what I needed to do, but I wouldn't go back if I could help it - The location was perfect for what I came to the Blue Mountains to do. The unit was a good size, was pretty well equiped, has a large deck, and was in good condition considering its remote location. Richard Bowering, the owner of the lodge, made multiple thinly veiled racist comments as well as multiple patriarchical comments. There was also a piece of wall art in the unit with a patriarchical statement on it. Also, there was a bait-and-switch regarding the pricing. Booking.com advertised different prices depending on whether there was 1 or 2 people in your party, or 3 or 4 people. However, when we got to the Lodge, Richard informed us that to him the pricing was instead whether you wanted 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom. There was only 1 bed in each bedroom. My bed was small enough that my feet would hang off the end if I fully stretched out, or my lower leg would hang off the side if I rolled over. So of course my Dad and I naturally needed separate rooms. Richard charged the full difference for the 1/2 people rate vs. 3/4 people rate. However, after giving him a piece of my mind, he agreed to refund half the difference. It took over three weeks to receive the refund, but he did get it to me.

We liked forest and calm nature of the location. In the night time we made fire outside in firepit and spend good time together. Richard is perfect host!

It has everything you need for a pleasant stay: - a kitchen equipped (oven, microwave, utensils, dishes, sponges, garbage cans to classify the waste, coffee... - a bathroom with shampoo, shower gel... - blankets if you are a bit cold Easy and quick communication. The host welcomed us and took the time to explain everything. Advices for walks, restaurants (not for tourists)... The apartment is on the lower floor. Independent entrance. No noise around or above. 15-20 minutes from Blue Mountain village. A very nice family stay for us. THANK YOU Mattresses were a bit hard for us. However we could sleep correctly.
• Krista (9/5): Great way to enjoy nature and disconnect. - I liked the layout and the space. It's like an apartment style lodge. The owner Richard had great hospitality. He made sure we had everything we needed. The only thing my family didn't like was the internet. It was very basic internet which meant my kids could not play on their Ninetendo Switches or if I needed to look something up, it was hard to download a homepage for the blue mountain site for instance. We were very secluded so my data wouldn't work. But being on vacation and out in the country, felt good to disconnect from social media. Perhaps a stronger and faster internet for kids who have devices and want to use at the end of the night? Other than that, that is the only thing my family didn't like.

• Sabrina (8/5): Very good - Our host Richard was very nice and was always giving us advice on different things we can do with our kids like skiing and snowshoeing and visiting Thornbury restaurants as well as blue mountain village. The Lodge was very secluded and a great experience with all the surroundings. Peaceful and relaxing stay. The shampoo and soap was low however I'm sure if we asked Richard he would of supplied more. We brought our own so we didn't bother asking.

Check in could have been coordinated better. The queen/double bed sleeping arrangements were a little odd - one of them is in the kitchen and the other is in the dining room.
