Guest Reviews
- Sandor (9/5): - Good location, easy to find - there is a ventilator in the room, and an AC is working if there is electricity. Some of the staff is working there. There were very frequent electricity blackouts - sometime you could not even charge your phone, of wifi.
AC operation rather fragmented - so was the ventilator.
- Luka Zup001 (10/5): - Staff, house, views, secure garrage
- Aimee (10/5): Good price for a comfortable stay. - I booked a single bunk in a 4-bed room. I had the room all to myself as I was the only guest. It was clean and basic. It had good water flow in bathroom. Comfortable mattress and pillow.
Had Strong wifi. Caretaker was helpful. Very dark alleyways to the house if you are walking at night. There might be some stray dogs so be wary.
After going out to get dinner, the metal door/gate that leads up to the rooms is difficult to open with the key provided—it is better to ask caretaker to show you how to open the door before leaving the house so as not to have trouble opening it like i did. It took me 15 mins trying to figure out how to open it at 11:00pm. A lady neighbor helped me by yelling out the caretaker’s name but to no avail as he was probably already sleeping. So also good idea to get his number just in case.
AC didn’t work even after turning on switch so I used just fan, and it was very humid.
Strange because in booking dot com app, the place was fully booked but in reality, I was the only guest that day. I could have booked for me and my friend in the same place.
- Pavan Francis (8/5): - Sicurezza. Rapporto qualità prezzo accettabile per la zona. Bagno nel dormitorio molto spartano e sicuramente da rinnovare. Posizione difficile da trovare e in quartiere poco centrale. Personale talvolta accoglienti talvolta no.
- Iselin (6/5): Comfortable after a day of exploring hectic Freetown - It’s a very cozy and safe place to relax after hectic Freetown. They have a great terrace area with a hammock! They use a generator when the power cuts, that is set on a sort of alarm which turns off at 3am making it impossible to have a good rest as the fans obviously turns off when there’s no power. The WiFi doesn’t work when the power is off which is constantly. This is a Freetown problem but I believe it could be solved better in terms of the generator.
Would be nice if they sold water or breakfast as they have staff that works there.

- Vako Armeno (8/5): The cheapest option with and AC and a generator. - The beds were clean and had mosquito nets. The room was spacious with only 4 beds. There's an AC in the room and 2 fans. The location is good; it's like a village on the western side of the city. It is safe even walking at night. There are small shops nearby. You can buy basic stuff and cook in the fully equipped kitchen. The beaches are 15-20 minutes walking or 5 min by tuktuk. The fast ferry to the airport is just 10 min walking distance. The staff were ok and helpful. The view from the balcony is great. It's the cheapest place in town. In fact it's the only hostel in Freetown on Booking.com. They have a generator in case of power cuts. The wifi is fast. The toilet needs a bit of cleaning and maintenance. There's no hot water and the water pressure is weak. The generator is right under the dorm window; very loud. But still; you get what you pay for. A basic hotel in the area is 3-4 times more expensive.

- Jeffrey (8/5): Fantastic value hostel! 😎 - This is a great hostel, and the value-for-money was amazing.
It’s a short walk from the SeaCoach ferry, and has a lovely balcony with a nice view of the sea.
The dorm had a pedestal fan and air-conditioning, and the shower was good.
Teo and the staff were great, and the area was lovely. A great place to stay in Freetown 😁
- Peter (8/5): Nice stay in a nice town. - Run by a friendly British guy named Guy, this place feels like home—and honestly, there’s just no competition in town. There is a big basket for garbage outside of the kitchen but sometimes it would be nice to not having to go outside, especially without shoes which is customary here. So another one, or better yet, one in each room would be nice. Also, as a bonus, the staff would have something to do while not sleeping 🤪
- Ali (10/5): Very excellent stay at this hotel. - Good treatment and all the staff
- Tyler (10/5): Exceptional -
- Buck (10/5): Exceptional - Nice facilities. Owner was super helpful. Can't recommend enough. Staff was on point. Close to the beach. Relaxed vibe.
- Buck (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arne, (3/5): When you are big and heavy, don't book dorm - Free water and generator for the many many powercuts Worst dormitory bed ever. Super worn out, felt every slat of the slatted base, which also could not withstand my weight of 120kg. So in the middle of the night I fell through it. I had sent a warning about my weight in advance. Also very poor shower.
Later i move to privateroom, with an amazing nice bed.
- Geojef (10/5): Enjoyed a lot this amazing place - I enjoyed a lot my stay at the hostel: amazing family atmosphere, staff, guests, environment.
Booked 1 night, stayed 4.
Comfortable bed, big room, air conditioning, power generator in case of city electricity black out, WiFi, great kitchen, towel, toilet paper, ... everything I would need.
Shower, running water.
Big common areas to connect with guests and staff.
Helpful useful info from Guy, the owner, the staff, the other guests.
Gorgeous view from the terrace.
Close to shops and beaches.
- Ali (10/5): Exceptional - İts amazing ocean wiev, clean house, polite staff. The guy owner is incredibly helpful and you can get help from him in any matter.
- Alex (9/5): Superb -
- Lubomir (10/5): Exceptional - Guy is a traveler himself and aims to help you out in every way possible. I wish I had stayed a bit longer and caught more Arsenal games with him.
- Samuel (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (10/5): The only hostel in Freetown (it’s great!) - Super nice owner and staff who have great tips for backpackers, very clean for west Africa and fantastic value for the price
- Francis (10/5): Excellent HOSTEL. - Guy and Theo will give you a warm welcome. The hostel is only a 10 minute walk from the seacoach terminal, has excellent A/C and is kept very clean. There are quite a few places to eat locally and at a mere 10usd per night is very reasonable indeed. I'll definitely be back to continue my West African trip and enjoy the wonderful view from the terrace again! N/A
- Tony (8/5): Great little hostel in heart of Freetown, Wonderful staff, good location. Nice vive, cheap. Reomend - The only real hostel in Freetown, in a former house, on the first floor, it's in a good location in Freetown's Aberdeen area. About a kilometre walk from Lumgy Beach, near Aberdeen Roundabout and almost next to St. Matthew's Church, it's in a good location. Bars, restaurants, a market, shops are nearby and it's a 10-15 minute taxi ride from Government Warf for ferries to/from the airport. The roads around the hostel are a little rough, but the area is full of character. The small hostel has 1 dorm room with 4 wooden bunkbeds and a bathroom inside the room. Shower, sink and toilet. Bed sheets and a pillow is provided. A fan in the room. Multiple plug sockets in room. Also several private rooms. Dorm bed is US$10 per night. Breakfast is extra. Eggs, bread, tea/coffee. Fantastic knowledgeable, friendly owner and great staff. The owner is from the UK. The staff are local, speak English, friendly, kind and helpful. Free, reasonablly good speed WiFi throughout the hostel. A terrace with tables and chairs, even a couple of comfy chairs. Plantsonterrace. Good, gentle atmosphere. ATM machines about a 10/15 minute walk or take a shared taxi (Tuk-Tuk). I'd definitely stay here again. Sometimes no water in shower, toilet, sink. Sometimes no toilet paper. Ocasional power cuts. WiFi can be very slow and sometimes stops working altogether. Not enough hooks in bathroom. Not many comfy seating on terrace. No handrails on the steps.
Road in front of hostel verry rough to walk on.
- Shady (10/5): Exceptional - The owner guy we ended up going out and spending good time Pretty much nothing it was best option in all Freetown
- Paris (10/5): Exceptional - Best value for money in West Africa. Nice views and helpful staff. The best place I’ve stayed in Sierra Leone. Thank you!
- Nikolaos (10/5): Exceptional - It felt like a family. Thanks Guy.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sergio (9/5): Good value for the money; great location - The owner, Guy, and his staff were very nice and helpful. Beautiful view from the veranda. Great location. Difficult to get to the first time;
We had problems with the water supply.
- Ibnu (10/5): Exceptional - It is an excellent place to be when you are in a new place.
- Hazem (10/5): Recommended stay in Aberdeen - The staff is amazing, you'll end up with permanent new friends, and you'll meet a lot of expats and local people, the view is nice from the balcony, and the rooms are spacious, very good value for money.
- Kingsley (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ann (10/5): Excellent Value. - Exceptional value for money. The host was extremely welcoming and as a backpacker himself was aware of what backpackers want, including usb ports for charging phones! Meals could be made to order by the friendly staff. The hostel had a sea view and was 10 minutes from the ferry terminal. The easiest way to find it is by going down Cromwell Road. No complaints at all.
- Kai (8/5): Great place. Would stay there again - Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice terrace with sea view. Betty cooks very nice local food, on request. Nothing
- W0lfbreed (10/5): Ocean View with good pricing. - I really enjoyed my stay here and we had a great view of the ocean. The staff was very accommodating..we even got breakfast sometimes in the cook would make whatever you wanted, if you buy the food. The role leading up to the place was very Rocky and at the end of the Street so many guys did not know how to find the place unless you directed them. The local church is very loud on some days.
- Thomas (10/5): Great stay - Great place to stay in Freetown, by far the best price-quality in the city! Nice clean rooms with aircon
