Guest Reviews
- Weronika (8/5): - Very nice, quite place with comfortable bed.
- kevin (10/5): Had a great time exploring the area from a great location - highly recommend and would re-book if we find ourselves ne - Loved the generous space and decor was great. Access & parking was very good & our host Alice popped in to make sure we had everything we needed and was very knowledgeable about the area and things to do.
- rachel (8/5): Very peaceful and just what was needed. - The property was just as it looks like in the photos and very peaceful and quiet. Good location, to reach all of the spots you may want to visit by car. The welcome bread, milk and eggs was a lovely touch, thank you. Not so much as didn’t like but could do with a couple of extras. The property has nowhere to be able to hang clothes and no full length mirror which would have been nice on the evenings when you are going out. Having said that, it didn’t affect our time there and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- lorraine (10/5): Lovely peaceful two night stay in beautiful surroundings - Lovely location
Very spacious and clean Nothing
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional - The location is beautiful and peaceful, we loved the interiors and it was very comfortable. A well equipped kitchen although we didn't cook and was lovely to relax on the sofa. Very comfortable large bed. Alice was lovely and very welcoming, we would stay again! Very minor but we struggled with the feather pillows as used to pillows that are a bit firmer!
- Francis (10/5): Exceptional - The facilities where ideal for a couple. It is a openplan living space with a walk in shower and toilet separate from the loungesnd kitchen area..The Barn and its sister property has a gravel area for parking the car. The owners property is situated near by. The views are stunning across the valley. On our first evening walk ww saw two fallow deer. A little walk towards the village of Marshwood there is a thatched pub..it is still in the process of being renovated but I would imagine it will be finished by the autumn. It is handy to visit the towns and villages and Towns of the Jurassic Coast, Check out the vintage tram ride from Seaton to Colyton..Walk up to Colyton which is a lovely little "town". It really is a big village but very picturesque. Sidmouth is great for shopping, Lyme Regis has interesting shops and lovely sea front. Lots of other places to see
I would recommend the Sub-tropical gardens at Abbotsbury around 15 miles away also check out Chisel Beach. Nothing, we wished we could of stayed longer.
- Debbie (10/5): Short visit to experience the Jurassic Coast - The accommodation was bigger than anticipated from the photos. It was light, spacious, adequately equipped with nice touches such as milk, bread and fresh flowers. The views around the property were lovely and it was a peaceful location. Enjoyed a BBQ one evening watching the sunset. Nothing
- Ellen (10/5): Amazing location with great host - Amazing location with the most gorgeous view. Alice is a great host with a lot of tips for activities in the area!
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Iglika (10/5): Pieceful, excellent location - Tranquil peaceful location, very comfortable big bed, spacious property, idilic views including patio to watch the sunset
- Patricia (10/5): A lovely relaxing break would not hesitate to return. - Spacious bright and airy property, comfortable bed with everything provided for a stay away from home. Location within reach of Lyme Regis, Axminster, Sidmouth and Bridport. Surrounded by fields was stunning and a very peaceful place.
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Harlie (10/5): A true gem of a place - We had a really wonderful stay here. The location is idyllic, it was heavenly to be in such quiet with only really hearing the sounds of animals and the views are incredible. We were greeted by Alice on arrival, who was very welcoming. And the fresh flowers, bread and eggs were a lovely touch and so appreciated. Additionally, the interiors are beautiful and we had everything we could have needed in the barn including cooking oil, sugar, tea bags, coffee and fresh milk. Overall a truly great stay and we will definitely be returning soon! I would have to say that the barn exterior was sometimes noisy, I think it may have been the tin roof creaking? On our last day I was woken up quite early from it and I thought it was someone trying to come in the barn! But overall it hadn't spoiled the trip for us and everything else about the place does make up for it but I can imagine light sleepers could be bothered by this.
- Lucia (10/5): The perfect holiday getaway - Horseshoe Barn was the most perfect holiday getaway. Alice and Hugo were very welcoming hosts - and we immediately felt at home. We arrived to a fresh loaf of sourdough bread, farm fresh eggs and milk in the fridge. All were much appreciated, and thoroughly enjoyed! We also bought farm meat and honey during our stay, which we arranged with Alice and were delicious. The barn has been thoughtfully designed and decorated, and is enjoyable in all weather. The outside area at the back of the barn has a bbq and seating area overlooking beautiful countryside views that stretch into the distance. The sunset on the first night was wonderful! We had one stormy day, and the barn was perfect for an indoor day too. Whether curled up on the very comfy sofa with a book, or playing boardgames. The only thing we would do differently is stay for longer! There is so much to see, do and explore. And loads of great walks we didn't get to do. We will definitely be back.
- Kerri (8/5): Very good - Lovely location with beautiful views of the countryside.
Nice and spacious property with all the essentials you needed.
The fresh bread, milk and eggs were a nice welcome on arrival. Was very warm at times in the property.
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joanne (10/5): Perfect - Huge and spotlessly clean. Lovely modern furnishings. Nice touch of bread eggs and milk left with other condiments. Couldn’t fault it. Lovely scenery too Loved everything about it
- Caroline (10/5): A really relaxing stay - lovely host who gave us fresh eggs and bread and plenty of advise about where to eat etc - Beautiful location. Really lovely spacious barn, well equipped and huge comfy bed.
- Karen (9/5): Superb - Lovely welcome with fresh produce, very large barn with excellent view Tin roof so quite loud when rained
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional - Location, lovely and rural. The Internet was down because a tractor had crashed into the telegraph pole out in the road.
- Tracy (9/5): Wonderful accommodation in very peaceful setting - Lovely location and excellent accommodation All very good
- Esther (9/5): Restful Stay - Had a restful stay. Quiet location, spacious open planned accommodation, with a small outside seating area with amazing views of the hills. Friendly owners, and there was a nice touch of vases of fresh flowers, bread, and eggs.
Close to Lyme Regis, which has great places to eat and sit and watch the world go by but if you want a quieter beach near a pretty village, then I would definitely recommend the beach at Branscombe. Also has a good pub and restaurant.
- Joanna (9/5): Great place relaxed - Location and views excellent
Remote and quiet yet near to Beaches and towns and main A35 A Washing line or hanging rail would be useful
- Richard (9/5): Exceptional country side location with great views - The property was clean and spacious with everything we required. Nothing
- Carolyn (10/5): Beautiful property and great location. - The property was immaculate. We were greeted be Alice with fresh flowers in the property and fresh bread and eggs. It’s a stunning location and so very peaceful. We were easily able to explore the Jurassic coast from the property. Thank you. Nothing. It was lovely.
- Jamie (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (9/5): Lovely accommodation in a great spot. - The Barn was spacious, well kept, beautifully decorated, had quality fixtures and fittings and the bed was very comfortable. The flowers, the eggs and bread were also much appreciated. The hosts Alice and Hugo were very helpful, always cheerful and available if required. It was in a very beautiful, rural spot, within a few miles of a major road between Devon and Dorset, so great for sightseeing and walking. There was no hanging space for clothes. The seating looked lovely but was quite uncomfortable. We also had a couple of small issues with the kitchen. Opening the handle free cupboard doors was difficult and there was a small problem with the fridge.
All problems were minor, ‘We loved the place!’
- Deb (10/5): It was perfect, thanks Alice & Hugo - The property was lovely clean & comfy love the area. The host introduced her self and gave us the keys . Would definitely return
- Anonymous (10/5): Brilliant. Highly recommend it. - Great location, very comfortable furniture, exceptional views, we had dinner outside watching the sunset. The hosts provided us with delicious eggs, bread and milk as well as coffee. Amazing!!!
- Jenny (8/5): Very good -
- Maria (10/5): Beautiful stay in gorgeous location. Appreciated how carefully considered everything was! -
- Nic (10/5): Such a nice place and great hosts, thank you! - Everything about this stay was amazing! The place is so cute and in a good location
- Yvonne (10/5): Beautiful location with scenic views, ideal place to visit other locations with short drive to beach - This was in a perfect location with beautiful scenary and other locations a short drive away. Alice and Hugo were the perfect hosts who were on hand when I had a few questions that needed to be asked about my booking. Alice greeted us with a lovely batch of fresh eggs, fresh bread and milk which was much needed after our drive. the barn was beautifully laid out and clean with a really comfy bed with line dried smelling sheets!
We could of not of asked for anything else and I look forward to booking again. The location was a little tricky to find at first even though I was provided with a sheet that had helpful directions on. I eventually find it and the looking was worth it.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Delraj (9/5): Superb - Spacious, clean, lovely place away with amazing views. N/a
- Katie (10/5): Stunning, spacious and secluded - Beautiful barn in a picturesque setting. It would have been hard to find, but was sent clear directions before hand to make our arrival stress free. Upon arrival we were surprised by a fresh loaf of bread, eggs and milk which was a very nice touch (and delicious) as well as fresh flowers. We had complete privacy and independence from Alice and Hugo, but they were always close by to help us with any problems or answer any questions. Also they included a welcome booklet which included lots of helpful information and suggestions of where to go. Overall it was a fantastic break and we would definitely recommend and come back! The only small issue we had was getting our small car onto the driveway due to being slightly uneven. We just made sure to drive very slowly and carefully although this wouldn’t be an issue for any bigger/higher cars.
