Guest Reviews

- Donna (10/5): If I could go back every month I would! Thanks you two for making us feel so welcome. - Atmosphere is excellent. You feel such comfort just driving into parking lot! Food was delicious. Home owners are wonderful people. A real get away tucked back off the path of busy. Very relaxing! Nothing was bad.
- Snijder (10/5): The word 'immaculate' comes to mind to describe visiting Hazelhouse. So special on every level. - Breakfast and location were both a treat for the weary soul!
- Dave (10/5): Home away from home - Minke and Gerald were wonderful hosts and my stay in their cozy homely spot in Chilliwack was superb. Quiet, comfortable and loaded with delightful personal touches. Superb breakfast rounded it all off nicely! Nothing!

- Stanley (10/5): Grandma's welcoming warmth with a flair - Absolutely delightful, whimsical and warm decor. Charming little touches everywhere. Thoughtful provisions throughout. The upstairs parlour is very welcoming, with coffee and tea and sweets. The new-old fully remodeled bathroom is spacious and fully-equipped, with double sink, delightful shower, and even a clawfoot tub.
Minke's warmth and care extends most deliciously to her innovative and five-star breakfasts, each of which was a fresh delight, in a beautifully-appointed dining-living area overlooking the well-tended and whimsical garden and the creekbank, complete with busy waterfowl and a stately willow. The location is closely convenient to the charming downtown village area as well as area routes.
When available, we have declared to ourselves that quite simply, there is no other place to stay in Chilliwack, period.
- AYISHA (10/5): The hazel house is a wonderful experience for the weary traveler to enjoy. - The Hazelhouse was far beyond anything i could have imagined. My best friend and I had been camping the last 15 days, and had decided to treat ourselves to comfort in the form of a bed and breakfast for our last night. Not only were the hosts super accommodating about our very late check in, the space was so inviting, the bed extremely soft and comfy, and the amenities were luxurious. Breakfast was also a lovely highlight, accompanied by their friendly cat. We are already planning our next trip and I will definitely stay here again! Nothing, the place was perfect.
- Michelle (10/5): -

Ontbijt was heel erg lekker, met zorg en zelf klaar gemaakt. Vers en al. Niets.
- julie (10/5): It was an exceptional bed and breakfast, we had the top floor with lounge and bathroom to ourselves - The breakfast was amazing, the most delicious omelette and fruits on the first morning , followed by an amazing Dutch breakfast the second morning. Minka was so helpful and friendly.

Wonderful interior and perfectly maintained garden. Thank you Minka and Gerald. And not to forget: FELIX, the cat. :) everything fine - A perfect stay for us
- Culbert (10/5): - You could not have asked for friendlier hosts. This couple were both, amazing to deal with, so nice and helpful, we could not have been happier.
Thank you both so very much, it was more like visiting family then it was staying at a B&B. We were the only guests staying that night otherwise the only thing that might have bothered me was sharing a washroom. But even that won't stop us from going back !
- Graziella (9/5): A beautiful find - The house itself is lovely. It shows that the owners really put a lot of care into creating and maintaining a beautiful environment. The hosts were friendly, made us feel very welcome in their home, and at the same time gave us a lot of privacy. The breakfast was amazing.

- Keith (10/5): We were overwhelmed by the warm welcome of Gerald and Minke and their care of us. - The house and grounds are stunning and so well looked after. Built in 1914, the house is a marvel of the renovations and decorations of the owners and the property is at the end of a road, and bordered by a small river which makes it very private and quiet.
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -

- Danylchuk (10/5): It’s newly renovated, beautifully decorated with antiques. decorated w - Everything about this property is beautiful and the attention to details by the owners is impeccable. There was nothing not to like.
- Karen (9/5): A comfy, delicious, and friendly home away from home. - Our comfy room and sitting room, delicious hearty breakfasts, and naturally hospitable host made this a very pleasant stay. I think the bathroom would have been shared if we hadn't been the only ones there at the time. My mistake in not noticing but that wouldn't have been preferred by us.
- Francal (9/5): Amazing hosts and a wonderful house in a quiet area. - Location was very safe and quiet. Hosts were very friendly and obviously passionate. House and garden were very clean and tiny, and the Christmas decorations were amazing. Bedroom was old and a bit cold but that's to be expected for an old house, yet the bathroom is very well renovated. Bedroom was a bit cold (but they provide extra blankets and an electric heater) and the fuse go off easily if you use too many devices at the same time, but it's to be expected since it's an old house.
- Twila (10/5): Would stay again in a HEARTBEAT - This place is PHENOMENAL, I would rate it 1000000/10 if I could, seriously. The couple that owns the place is very friendly, welcoming, and hospitable, and the place they have is BEAUTIFUL 😍 As a solo female travel I was worried about where I would stay, but I felt so safe here, and it’s in a wonderful part of chiliwack!! The views are STUNNING, and there were so many little things provided that I never expected (like bubble bath, milk for my tea, and so much more). PLEASE if you’re debating what place to book, let this be your sign to chose the HazleHouse Inn
- Karl (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent stay. The hosts were very helpful and accommodation was exceptional and will definitely come return. 10 out of 10.. Nothing.
- Grace (10/5): It was an excellent visit and I would go back again and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting an exceptional bed and b - Gardens and exceptional design and hospitality of the owners!! I loved it all.
- Daianna (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. Breakfast was delicious. Location was great. Bed was comfortable. Rooms were clean. Minke is a friendly and welcoming host. Nothing
- Marion (9/5): Lovely stay. - A very warm welcome from Minka.
A beautiful old house with beautiful gardens.
A very hearty breakfast was served. I didn't appreciate that the bathroom wasn't ensuite.
It didn't matter to us as we were the only guests.
- Zoe (10/5): Exceptional - The most perfect stay. Gardens were gorgeous and brekky was so yummy. The house was also very nicely done up. Minke and Gerald were great hosts, super accommodating and friendly. Would recommend to anyone staying in Chilliwack.
- Terri (10/5): Great location, comfy bed & delicious breakfast(first class) - Breakfast was very delicious
Location perfect, close to downtown Chilliwack.
Kind hosts and so friendly.
Property is beautiful and the gardens well loved.
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional - Unique and charming property, we had the whole upper floor to ourselves. Minke was an exceptional hostess and so welcoming, there were hot and cold refreshments in a fridge in our sitting room, which were very welcome in the hot weather. Absolutely loved sitting out on the veranda on the swing and rocking chair just reading and chilling. Breakfast was also delicious and freshly cooked. A spotlessly clean property with beautiful rooms and garden.
- Ken (9/5): It was so good, we hope to be back, and to arrive sooner in the day! - The creativity that went into all the furnishings and decor and gardens is exceptional. They seem to have thought of everything. The whole place has a very fun and nostalgic feel, but with modern features where most appreciated, such as with the bathroom fixtures. And the breakfast was delicious and extremely well-prepared. The host has a natural way of making you feel very welcome!
- Diana (10/5): A quiet and comfortable stay in a beautiful setting, with great breakfasts. - We stayed for five days, the breakfasts were different every day and were very much appreciated. The heritage house is beautifully furnished, and the garden is spectacular. The large bathroom is new, and includes both a shower and bathtub.
The house is situated in a quiet neighbourhood, but only five minutes from downtown Chilliwack The host and hostess are great people, very helpful and welcoming Nothing.
- Curtis (9/5): Very lovely home and the B&B owners were very accommodating. The inn was beautiful. - Beautiful home, great hosts, and wonderful breakfast. No air-conditioning, but the owners did their best to make it comfortable with a fan and an air-conditioning unit blowing in the up stairs from.another room.
- Philip (10/5): Peace and quiet in pretty surroundings, very comfy bed. - Beautiful older home in immaculate condition and tastefully upgraded. Hosts very friendly and breakfast most enjoyable, made better by pretty surroundings and beautiful garden. Day temperatures reached 32 degrees so made the upstairs room slow to cool down. Host stated they will install a/c.
- Helen (9/5): Thanks very much for your hospitality - Loved our whole experience here. Wish we could have stayed longer Nothing
- Rik (10/5): The best guesthouse we’ve stayed in for many years - Essentially everything , a beautiful old house with fabulous gardens and the owners are so welcoming. Nothing at all
- Cecile (10/5): We will remember our wonderful stay at the Hazelhouse forever. - The Hazelhouse was a little piece of heaven! It was more than comfortable - it was like going back in time and being cared for by family. The grounds are gorgeous and immaculate. And breakfast was delicious! Minke and Gerald love sharing this beautiful property and it shows! We highly recommend this B&B for your trip to Chilliwack.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Marcus (9/5): Superb -
- Eric (10/5): A must see (and book!) B&B, fully renovated beautiful heritage house - I will do this review in English, because I hope more people in Canada will read this and book a night 'or more' at this wonderful B&B. It is a fully renovated beautiful heritage house, over 100 years old. Strange thing is it doesn't show, but then again it does? When you enter here it's like you've stepped to a time portal 100 years back. But it has all the modern amenities. It's a warm cozy house, just like the owners. When you stay here you have the use of the whole first floor ; a bedroom, sitting room and a bathroom. Again, everything is in 1900 style, but with a bed that is better than my own! In the morning you get your breakfast in the giant living room downstairs, where you can really soak up the atmospheer look out into the beautiful garden, while you have a more than great breakfast!
Excellence is really the word here! One thing left to do... win the lottery and buy it! ( Because it's mine! ;-) ) Cliché....nothing! Been thinking about something, because exceptions confirm the rule, but just think superlatives all the way!
- Vanessa (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. Especially the people
- Kenneth (10/5): A very comfortable overnight stay in Chilliwack in beautiful family home. - This beautiful family home is set in lovely gardens in a quit area of Chilliwack yet convenient for eating out and re-joining the highway.
On arrival we received a warm welcome from our host and were shown to a lovely bedroom with sitting room and bathroom attached. The house is spacious and tastefully furnished and our bed was very comfortable ensuring a great sleep. The whole house was spotlessly clean.
In the morning we had a tasteful breakfast which set us up for the day.
- Linda (10/5): The hostess was wonderful! The garden area was beautiful. House is charming. - Breakfast was delicious. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection! Wish there was a lock on the bedroom door.
- Carol (10/5): Amazing stay - The hostess went over and above to accommodate our needs. The historical house was amazing everywhere you looked. The location was close to our event, yet was back away from busy streets.
- Louise (10/5): Breathtakingly beautiful - I almost hesitate to write a review as I fear my words will not be able to do it justice. My boyfriend and I booked The Hazelhouse for a little weekend getaway and although from previous reviews we had high expectations, nothing could prepare us for just how truly wonderful it was. Minke was without a doubt the best host we have ever had, the attention to detail and care that she puts into ensuring a positive stay is out of this world. The room we stayed, the living room and bathroom are all large, so well taken care of and breathtakingly beautiful.
The breakfast each morning was on par with any fancy restaurant with the most beautiful setting overlooking the mountains, river and fireplace.
Our biggest takeaway from the whole trip though, was just how much Minke loves what she does, I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone so passionate about being a BnB host and it truly shows in the quality of the stay, everywhere was spotless, decorated perfectly and was made to make our stay as comfortable as possible. This heritage home is an absolute must stay and I will be telling everyone who will listen that they must go and experience it.
- Ronny (10/5): I would recommend! - It’s nestled next to Hope River with views of the mountains and an easy walk to the historic 1881 district.
The hosts were very kind and hospitable.
The building it self is so beautiful and quaint! The common areas are gorgeous.
The breakfast was amazing.
My wife loved the claw foot bathtub!
Thoughtfully planed landscaping. No plugs near bedside tables to charge phone, Apple Watch or AirPods. Bed frame was lose and made noise when shifting around during the night 😉
- Horwood (10/5): Exceptional - Minke was so incredibly kind and very welcoming. We really enjoyed our time in this beautiful home!! Will most likely be back!
- Melissa (10/5): Lovely experience - The owner is very welcoming. The house is clean, warm, and well thoughtout. It's a historical house which is decorated with unique antique pieces. She has a spare reading room with books. There's a mini fridge, coffee, and tea available. In the bathroom you have a shower, tub and double sinks.
Minke (owner) prepared and served a lovely breakfast for us in the morning to start our day off right. I enjoyed everything.
- Marybeth (10/5): Definitely recommend - The service was fantastic, letting me arrive very late. The breakfast was great, and the decor was so cool!
- Katherine (9/5): Superb -
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was superb. A charming breakfast table set with Crystal glasses for juice and Dutch style china. The presentation was enchanting. Hospitality is alive here with a lazy river view and a cozy heritage style fireplace. Just what I needed! Every detail was addressed. No complaints at all!!!
- Per-ola (10/5): Exceptional - So absolutely gorgeous, filled with charm, extremely clean, and with a wonderful host. We will be back!
- Sandra (10/5): A photo opportunity from every window. - All the facilities were wonderful. The home is absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. The grounds and gardens are fabulous. A photo opportunity from every window. Nothing to dislike here.
- Diana (10/5): A quiet stay in a beautiful house, with a very good breakfast. - This is the best B and B I have stayed for many years. Everything about it is excellent, from the amenities provided, the house decorations and the garden maintenance. The breakfast was great and the host and hostess very friendly and accommodating. It is a heritage house and a very special place, situated in a quite area of the city. Nothing.
- Cairong (10/5): I highly recommend this property. The room is clean, the owner is friendly and her breakfast is really good. Everything - I really like the decorations which are old-fashioned. We had the access to the entire second floor and there are a living room, a bathroom and a bedroom. We had the maximum privacy in this property. I don’t have anything that I don’t like.
