- Anton (9/5): Superb style and atmosphere of this place perfectly added to our impressions from Liverpool - A clean, tidy and quiet room in a Victorian house, decorated with much care and style. Hospitable and friendly host allowed us to check-in early, which was very appropriate considering early arrival of our flight. Comfortable beds. Light breakfast in a stylish interior. Convenient location within a walking distance from train station. When watching movie on TV it would freeze and replay once in a while - most likely receiver setups need to be checked.
- Peter (9/5): Great break. For the fit and well it’s 40 minutes walk from Hill Dickinson - Friendly reception
Comfortable, clean and tidy room
A bit of design flair in the decor was a bonus Nothing
- Patricia (10/5): Fabulous B&B in Bootle - Merchant House is a fantastic B&B. The house is stylish, the room, spacious, beautifully presented, with comfy beds, and spotlessly clean. The en suite has all the amenities you could wish for. The breakfast is great with cereal, fresh fruit, toast, and preserves. The house is on a quiet street with free parking, and it's a very short walk to a number of buses to take you into Liverpool. Debs is really friendly and helpful and a fabulous host. She even added some Xmas decorations to put us in the holiday mood. We only saw her husband briefly but he was really friendly too. We would highly recommend and would stay again when visiting the area. Can't think of anything.
- tracey (5/5): Ok but not convenient to be asked to to remove your shoes as you enter the property also paintwork s - Paintwork chipped and peeling off on window sill skirting boards and parts on walls paint on the windows on the glass where they’ve missed the wood edge huge amount of dust in skirting boards on back wall going behind the bed and in corners near fire surrounded three pieces of paper on the floor
- Anita (10/5): Exceptional!! - Debs and Graham were exceptionally hospitable. The accommodation was spotless and had a very welcoming, homely atmosphere. Debs kindly kept me informed about how my sons were doing, which was greatly appreciated and put me at ease. My husband and sons often travel to the area to watch matches, and we would be very happy to stay with Debs and Graham again in the future. Nothing that we can think of.

- Hoskins (8/5): Safe comfortable accommodation - The bed was so comfortable and firm. Good firm pillows and cotton mix sheets. White towels. Very Hot water. Off road parking although its a small one entrance square. Was very quiet although just off main road. Tv fixed so cannot view from bed. It needs a swing bar to position.
- Charlie (10/5): Very brilliant stay good communication throughout - The decoration of home warm and comfortable the bedding was lovely Nothing
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helsbells92 (10/5): Home from home - A gorgeous room down a sweet street in bootle. A short cab or train to Liverpool City centre. The hosts were absolutely lovely and it felt like a real home from home!
The bed was ridiculously comfortable, had great blinds so wasn't woken up by sunlight peeking through.
Breakfast was very good! My only comment is the water pressure in the shower wasn't very good but that is to be expected in older houses and it certainly wouldn't affect us staying again, just give yourselves an extra few minutes when you shower!
- Sonia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aj (10/5): Wonderful - Perfect stay
- Valerie (7/5): Good -
- Ian (10/5): Very nice - Friendly reception on arrival. Clean and comfortable.
- Lee (10/5): Hidden luxury in Bootle - Stunning decor, comfy bed, those little extras and location spot on. Wonderful hosts Graham and Debs. Thank you. That we didn't decide to stay longer!
- Turner (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - The room was comfortable and spacious, the bathroom was clean and the little treat and tea/water was a nice touch. The guesthouse was tucked away off a busier street, so was nice and quiet. And the hosts were lovely and very knowledgeable! A little far away from Liverpool and not too many restaurants around the guesthouse. Other than that great!
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional - Nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. Really accommodating owner.
- Alan (1/5): A Travel lodge would have been a better option if we only wanted a bed for the night, and cheaper - The overall look and decor of the house, was well presented. 1 Booking bed and breakfast after travelling from the Isle of Man, as a stop over, only to find that breakfast was going to be an extra charge, in top of the 70 pound. 2, after wiping our feet on two door mats, we were then asked to take off our shoes! 3, having travelled into town for food, we returned to find no milk for a cup of tea, therefore, there would be non for tea in the morning. After looking at other comments from the couple, they don't like plastic cartons of milk, but this would have been better than having to drive 2.5 hours on an empty stomach and dehydrated. Good job there was a convenience store over the road. Lastly, I have never had to run across a lit landing in the night, to go to the toilet, when it was open for all to see, yes there was dressing gowns, however, they should have been in the bedroom not the bathroom. This is NOT a B&B, it is an old fashioned boarding house,. Therefore, it could be a breach of the Trade Description Act. Will be looking into it.
- Frank (10/5): Truly a 6-star place with the best and most hospitable hosts you can imagine. Highly recommended! - Their homemade breakfast was just the icing on the cake.
- Adam (8/5): Very good -
- Gillian (10/5): Very comfortable, clean and a great location. - The location was perfect...we made use of the local train station to travel into the city centre. Graham was very helpful and welcoming. Even though we arrived early, he let us leave our bag in the room. The room was exceptional....very clean and comfortable. I didn't see that breakfast was an optional extra....but that was my mistake. Also there was no milk in the room and we arrived back too late to ask for some.
- Firas (8/5): Thank you. - Clean and comfortable You need a way of transportation to get to the city centre
- Jade (9/5): Delightful accommodation! - Pleasant, helpful and friendly host. Lovely decor, clean and comfortable. Quality bedding and furniture. Great location! Nice touches. We didn't have breakfast as I thought at £16 each was a little expensive. For the price we paid for the room I felt it should have been included.
- Claire (8/5): Very good -
- Jovana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (10/5): Wonderful Stay - The location was great for the event we attended. Parking was free on the driveway. Wonderful old house, perfectly decorated and appointed. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Lovely shower and toiletries. The hosts were very friendly. We will stay again if attending more events Nothing
- Silvia (9/5): Nice and comfortable bedroom. - Kindness of the owner, bed very comfortable, decoration of the bedroom and bathroom, free parking. Bathroom not in the same room.
- June (9/5): Lovely place and no downside for most people. We enjoyed our 2 day stay. - An intriguing house well decorated and comfortable didn't have breakfast so can't comment, but hosts were very accommodating and helpful and supplied us with everything we needed. Only problem for me was the stairs, but Graham and Deb were kind enough to send me a photo in advance so I could judge if they would be OK. It would have been fine except the bathroom was separate to the room with a step down and up each time we used the bathroom. Obviously this would not bother most, but for me it was off putting
- U (10/5): Wonderful hosts, lovely home/room - Debs and Graham were wonderful hosts, both very kind and welcoming. Felt like I was right at home!! Rooms were beautifully designed, and in a great location, super easy for me to get around Bootle and make my way to Liverpool Town Centre. Will definitely be staying here again the next time I visit. Recommended!! 10/10
- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional - The room was comfortable with the usual facilities and the dressing gowns were a bonus. The hosts were so much fun with plenty of knowledge. Handy to shop and restaurant. Off street parking. Plug to hair-dryer a bit far from mirror.
