Guest Reviews
- Savannah (10/5): Absolutely incredible stay - This hotel is absolutely breathtaking! We had the most incredible stay here. A huge thank you to Christian who was so friendly and went above and beyond for us including helping us organise transport. The chef Samuel was amazing, somehow our group of 4 people would all order completely different meals and all on his own Samuel was able to have them fresh and ready at the same time.

- Victor (5/5): The place made me feel like a drug kingpin with the view I had, just wish there were screen enclosures for the price you - Pictures are exactly what you will see in person. Staff was excellent, specially Christian. The resort books activities for you if you arrived without a plan with transportation that will pick you up and drop you off right at the resort with reasonable prices too. There is no AC due to the semi cool climate the resort is in. If they expect you to open up windows to let air in they should provide windows with mosquito screen to prevent the dozens of mosquitos right outside your room from coming in or at least provide a net for your bed. A lot of insects, a lot of spiders in the room. The restroom window is positioned in a way the room above can see you naked from their balcony. The drive way off the main road to enter their resort is too steep and narrow, highly recommend calling them if you are an untrained driver in this terrain to bring the car up. Engine can easily stall on the way up.
- Lilibeth (10/5): - Espectacular. Ideal para nuestra instancia recomendado
- Jake (10/5): - Best room ever
- Vasquez (1/5): -
- Joshua (9/5): - Location and view is amazing. Unfortunately we didn’t get the sunset but got nice clear mornings.
Breakfast was nice.
The nearby town is really peaceful compared to others on the lake.
Shower was amazing. Need to place some umbrellas near the pool sunbeds so that there is some shade.
We ate in the restaurant 2 x nights. The food on night 1 was great. On night 2 there was a different chef and the food wasn’t as good.
- JANE (10/5): So beautiful, so relaxing and the staff was very accommodating and nice - The breakfast was excellent and such a beautiful place to sit and eat, looking at the amazing view.
The pool was beautiful and really the only issue with the hotel is the VERY steep road up. It is the steepest road I have ever seen and our van got stuck halfway. Contact the hotel to meet you at the bottom to pick you and your luggage up unless your driver has been there before. The hotel really has the transport up dialed in. It is definitely worth it when you get to the top!
- Brittany (10/5): - Breakfast was amazing the views were stunning and the staff was amazing. It is also a quiet & relaxing stay. Rooms are a little outdated but that wasn’t an issue for us.
- Anastasiia (8/5): -
- Ricardo (9/5): Amazing weekend !!! - Great views and clean. Staff was great. Food was excellent No AC or fan to cool the room at night. You could open the window but we feared mosquitos or animals coming in. No iron to iron the clothes. Everything else was great
- Marcos (10/5): -
- Anne (9/5): Wonderful people and very welcoming - The staff made our stay perfect Great views and great service
- Alexander (9/5): Heerlijk resort - aanrader - Heel leuk resort.
- Jean (10/5): Amazing place to stay - The property is amazing had a great view of the lake and volcanoes and room was very comfortable and the staff were all very nice and great that they have restaurant on site and the food there was very tasty Everything was awesome the only thing would be when going to the property there are hills but it’s expected though but with rain that can be slippery but everything about the space was amazing
- Lina Marcela (10/5): -
- szerzso (8/5): -
- Bruno (8/5): -
- Ramon (7/5): - The location couldn't be better, the view is astonishing. Lake Atitlan is the most beautiful Lake in the world. The staff is great and helpful. the dinner restaurant was great. Overpriced, you really just pay for the view, which is worth it. The facilities are clean, but would need a total renovation, it's getting old and for this price! no towel hangers at all in the bathroom (why is that always a problem in Latin America?), the bathroom had a bad sewer smell coming up the toilet the whole night. It was very windy and i got up at night to close or lock down doors, even outside in the spa area, because all doors are very loose within the look, so they made loud sounds because of the wind throwing them into the frame every 10 seconds. very bad building quality. i'm a builder and all these fixes are easy fixes which doesn't cost a ton of money and would improve the hotel quality by miles.
the breakfast is ok, but the only option is Guatemalan style, which is ok but not every morning. needs more international options. the owners are Italian and you can not even get a espresso for breakfast, that's a big no no (you only understand if you're European)
- Connie (10/5): -
- Mark (7/5): - The view was incredible. Overall the property was amazing but it could use some refreshing/updating. Our unit also had dozens of drain flies.
- Chan (8/5): - The view is wonderful None
- Alondra (10/5): -
- Ericka (9/5): -
- Emile (8/5): - The view from the property/pool is sensational. It was totally worth being a few km’s out from Panajachel for the view and quiet surroundings. Thank you to the lady that brought breakfast upstairs to us everyday. We had a pleasant stay but the property is a little tired.
- Laurel (10/5): Lovely spot from which to explore the charming villages of Lake Atitlan - The property is beautiful, well-maintained, quiet and tranquil. Breakfast, typical Guatemalan, was delicious and very fresh. The views from everywhere, including our room were lovely. We had no difficulty finding transportation (often by tuk tuk) to wherever we wanted to go. Perhaps above all, the staff were friendly and extremely helpful and accommodating. It would have been nice to keep our porch door open in the evening for some fresh air but because there were no screens we were unable to do so.
- Jose (10/5): Great location, friendly people - Great location N/a
- Melanie (10/5): Great place to relax - Lovely stay, always here. My third time and it's the best place to relax and enjoy yourself. Staff is so exceptional with their hospitality and you feel like you're in a home of a good friend, with delicious food and amazing views.
- Berlinarturo (9/5): Beautiful place with an outstanding view. Slight White Lotus feel; already sought by influencers. - Not sure exactly how I picked this resort, my guess is the absolutely breathtaking view. Particularly, from the infinity pool or the balcony of the suite we were at. I recommend staying a few nights since you will not be able to get enough of the view of Lake Atitlán and its surrounding volcanoes. The property is parched on steep hill which is definitely a climb, but the grounds are well kept, a clean and gorgeous place to relax. The breakfast was great. The staff beautiful and friendly. They recommended a personalized boat tour of the lake that was quite phenomenal. There were very few things I didn't like. The room should have had its own waste basket, as to not use the one in the bathroom. No biggie. However, the restaurant did not meet the mark. I recommend using it as a last resort, unless you are only going to have drinks and light nibbles. Aside from their great breakfast, plan your meals accordingly. Other places to eat are not close by and you have to climb a hill to get back to your room. These were minor inconveniences, and I still recommend the place.
- Erin (8/5): It was lovely, but not at all walkable to anywhere nearby, and quite a long Tuk Tuk ride to get anywhere. So if your goa - Infinity pool and our cabana were wonderful. That we couldn’t even bring our own water bottle to the poolside. Spending that much money for a night and then being forced to spend money at the poolside bar was a bit insulting.
- Marian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Larissa (10/5): Exceptional - I loved how attentive the staff was! It felt like a really intimate resort experience. Getting up to the actual resort was tough because of how steep it was but they also mentioned they could help if you had any issues. However the pool, the food, and everything on the property was definitely worth it!
- Diane (10/5): I will be back to just stare at the volcano’s and the view. - Tzampoc is a beautiful resort, with wonderful views. The resort was very clean, the restaurant was wonderful and the pool bar was phenomenal. We mostly interacted with Christian, who helped us navigate going to other towns, out to dinner and helping us with a boat tour to the other side of the lake with a wonderful guide! We felt very welcome and every morning enjoyed coffee and a wonderful breakfast over looking the lake. Guatemala has a stray dog problem and we could hear them barking in the town over, this has nothing to do with the resort, but bringing earplugs is necessary if that bothers you. I did wear them and had no problem sleeping.
- Diego (10/5): Exceptional - I think constantly of this place, it felt like a dream. Nothing
- Mary (8/5): Very good - My upgraded room was very nice. The view in the morning was spectacular! The hot tub was not hot and the water did not look clean, so I avoided using it. Unfortunate because I love hot tubs. Also, not being allowed to take my own water to the pool was ridiculous. I was not feeling well and wanted to stay hydrated. Apparently people in the past snuck in alcohol, but come on. Everyone carries water with them these days.
- Victor (10/5): Perfect, would recommend for everyone - Wonderful stay!!! The staff were extremely educated and helpful. We stayed in the master suite with an amazing views! Everything was perfect on our stay!
- Jose (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ramos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jorge (10/5): Perfection - Just an incredible experience. I could not ask for more, most beautiful surroundings/views, great breakfast and relaxed atmosphere by the pool with refreshing drinks made by the bar staff
- Clara (6/5): Beautiful view and relaxing but too expensive - Very beautiful view. Very nice breakfast. Kind staff.
The restaurant was good. Access to the hotel is complicated. We can walk until Santa Catarina but there are not so many things to do there so need to take a transportation (tuktuk) to go to Panajachel.
The room was a disappointment considering the price: old, small, lack of equipment (no hair dryer, useless TV, no chairs or furniture except the bed and bed tables).
Old bathroom with missing lights, no ventilation either.
- Roberto (10/5): Exceptional -
- Becky (9/5): Superb -
- Katty (10/5): Exceptional - I recently had the pleasure of staying at tzampoc, and it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive to every, detail, ensuring a seamless check-in process. Valentina, Fernando and all the staff were extremely friendly.
The room was beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities. I especially love the amazing view we have from our room.
The hotel’s location is perfect and very close to Panajachel you can transport in a tuk tuk to all near towns. Also, the food is delicious , the pool area is spectacular with breathtaking views.
I would highly recommend Tzampoc to anyone visiting lake Atlitan.
- Allison (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): Incredible view; fantastic staff; very relaxing. - Excellent Guatemalan style breakfast, outside, with stunning views of Lake Atitlan and volcanoes.
Spacious room with view of lake. Bathroom was big; great bath and shower (hot water flow sometimes weak).
Beautiful infinity pool. Bar next to pool that serves best margaritas ever (thanks to Christian). Good food at restaurant. All of staff were friendly and went out of their way to make our stay special. Very relaxing. Very steep and terrifying road up to resort. DO NOT attempt this on your on unless you have 4WD. Staff will drive your car up. Property looks a little dated and weathered, but there is activity going on to fix and brighten things up. I was not bothered by it in the least. Our room 7 was was up to date and modernized.
- Anitra (10/5): AMAZING HOTEL - The views from the property are amazing. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The rooms are rustic.
- Bigit (9/5): Stay was relaxing pleasant and the view of the lake is unique! - LOCATION WAS ONE OF THE BEST IN THAT PARTICULA AREA. Bathroom window did not have a means of shutting it down, and bathroom got very cold at night (an extremely windy night made it worse; the apartment experience wind damage the next day).
Interior protruding tree though a plastic cover ceiling (in the bathroom), was rubbing against each other due to the tree swinging because of the wind, making significant noise and making it difficult to sleep!
Also efflorescence was noted inside interior walls in some areas, generating this loose white powder and dirtying our belongings (due to water infiltration from the exterior surfaces).
- Matthew (10/5): Best hotel on Atitlán by far - If you’re on the fence, book this place! This was an incredible hotel. While the photos online are great, they really don’t do this hotel justice! I stayed in the suite and had incredible volcano views with awesome sunsets every night. The pool area is heavenly, the restaurant has really good food, but what really makes this place is the incredible staff. Super attentive, always willing to help, give recommendations, and make your stay as pleasant as possible. The hotel only has seven rooms total but when I was there it seemed it was only half full (which is very surprising), so if you’re looking for peace and solitude with insane views and a pool and grounds to match, this is your place. Big shoutout to the staff who helped set up transport to the airport and dealt with my many questions! Cannot wait to come back! I’d stay here over Casa Palopó any day.
- Paulo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephanie (9/5): Superb -
- Cindy (10/5): My husband and I celebrated our one-year anniversary at Tzampoc Resort. We had a wonderful stay. - The staff and facilities were both absolutely amazing. Nothing everything was perfect!
- Ana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mirna (9/5): Amazing view of the volcanos from the room! - The view of the lake from the room. Great customer service and a delicious breakfast every morning! The room did not have a closet or drawers for the clothes. Only one small basket for the garbage in the bathroom. Many stairs to get to the room.
- Ivan (10/5): View, service and location perfect place for rest, good food, best cocktails and services! - Everything, best views of lake and volcanos, the facilities are gorgeous and blend of Greek island, Capri and Mayan culture at the best hills in Santa Caterina Polopo only to 10 minutes of Panajachel , the best part of the resort it’s the infinity pool and the best host ever Christian Chavez! Nothing!
- Kristin (5/5): Passable -
- Luis (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was amazing and the views incredible!
- Monica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (10/5): Beautiful peaceful stay in an idyllic location - Beautiful views, breakfast was delicious and the staff were extremely helpful. Extra thank you to Christian and Darwin for all your help. Our room was so spacious and clean with incredible views, we were given a free upgrade which we really appreciated ! The food in the restaurant was exemplary and the cocktails delicious! Nothing
- Sanz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stefanie (7/5): It was a vibe🥰 - The views and the staff were amazing There was not always hot water, there were ants and bugs in the room that got on our food and there was no AC and only one plug outlet
- Alexander (10/5): Exceptional - What a fabulous stay! We absolutely loved our experience here and after doing a lot of research believe it may be the nicest property on the entire lake. Facilities were beautiful with stunning views from the rooms and infinity pool. Staff were world-class, always smiling, energetic, friendly, and ready to say yes. They truly went above and beyond. Bartender Cristian is the best! Our upgraded room was spectacular and newly remodeled with a beautiful tub overlooking the lake. Breakfast, dinner, and drinks at the pool bar were all excellent. The hotel also arranged for a great couples massage, laundry service, and a private boat tour of the lake. Thanks so much and we will be back!!
- Jaric (9/5): Excellent stay - Everybody was very accommodating. Eros, Darwin, Christian were excellent hosts. The room was very clean, and the view was breathtaking. Everything was very well maintained. The hill to get to the hotel parking lot is pretty rough, not all taxis are able to get there.
- Gerardo (10/5): Amazing - Great view of the lake, nice and clean and the staff super super nice and very kind!!
- Leo (9/5): Superb -
- Spencer (10/5): Super friendly staff, and beautiful views away from it all, but close enough to get around. - The staff was incredible! Eli was great when checking us in and helping arrange travel. Darwin greeted us at the bar and not only gave us local tips but also other information when I asked, like about local history, the translation of place names, local politics, traditional Mayan heritage... he was so pleasant to chat with! His brother Christian was also friendly and hooked us up with a local Mayan Guide to perform a fire ceremony on the property for us! It was amazing! The woman serving breakfast was super helpful too, when my friend got sick, she brought food and water up to the room for us. The view was incredible of the 3 volcanoes and the sunset every night. The food and drinks onsite were great too. And they arranged affordable and reliable drivers to get us into nearby villages. I'd go back in a heartbeat! The walk up the hill to the property was intense! They will arrange for a tuk tuk to take you up and down, but we didn't know that at first haha. Also, they removed the shower door to make it more modern, I suppose, but all that meant was that we flooded the bathroom floor every time we showered, The bathmat wasn't nearly enough to soak all that up.
- Aldo (10/5): Exceptional - The staff made sure it felt like it was there just for us. The food was exceptional.
- Allison (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sylvie (10/5): Outstanding stay with incredibly friendly and genuine staff - The scenery / views over Lake Atitlan were breathtaking. Getting there was made possible thanks to Eros, one of the hotel staff, who went out of his way to organize transport to the hotel from downtown Panajachel for us. The breakfast food and portions were quite generous. We loved the views from our balcony and the many pic opportunities at the pool. We loved our stay as everyone treated us kindly and attended to our needs immediately. We highly recommend this hotel. There is a steep hill to get to the hotel but most tuk tuks didn’t seem to mind taking us up the hill. The hotel staff was kind enough to organize transport for us which was quite reasonably priced.
- Francisco (9/5): Superb -
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharon (10/5): stunning retreat - stunning !!!! one of the most beautiful properties we stayed in all of Guatemala - the grounds are incredibly well maintained with spectacular views from every corner; the owner and staff are super accommodating— they graciously upgraded our room before we got there and even helped us with laundry! breakfast was delicious and very filling. we also ate at the restaurant and loved their cocktails. pool and jacuzzi were just like the photos. they helped us arrange transportation both to the resort and to our next destination, which was super smooth! would definitely stay again !
fyi there are two large dogs on the property who are super friendly :) nothing !
- Sune (10/5): Exceptional -
- Erick (8/5): Very good - The view/ panoramica excelente Driving up high steep/ manejar la cuesta muy inclinada hacia arriba
- Marcela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabriela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ladydiva921 (10/5): Exceptional - The customer service was amazing, and views are breathtaking in the morning. The manager cares about your stay and they service is A1. I really enjoyed myself and I will be back sooner than later...;-) Be careful on the road, the streets are terrible. They are currently working to get them fixed. The Hotel is on a hill and it your heavy, you will not make it up the hill. You need a tuck tuck that will drive you to the top.
- Hernandez (8/5): Very good -
