Guest Reviews
- Jennifer (10/5): Great stay! - Great view and clean room! Loved our stay! Such a beautiful part of Scotland!
- David (9/5): Really enjoyable place to wind down - The bedroom bathroom and sitting room were spacious and the view from the sitting room just so relaxing watching the tide come in and out from comfortable chairs. Location well placed for touring the East Neuk. Community pub within 5 minutes walk. We were well looked after by proprietors. Furnishings all tasteful. The shower. It needed a suitable water pressure as the flow was very low and temperature unstable. Shame that was the only thing not exceptional.
- Christopher (10/5): Great quiet stay with a wonderful view. - Wonderful accommodations and a great view of the ocean. Parking was tight as most Scottish towns. We were lucky and got a spot in front of the house.
- Diane McA (10/5): Wonderful - Comfortable rooms with a separate area to sit and admire the sea views. A very special place. Very fluid communication with our hostess who went out of her way to be flexible with our check-in time
- Margaret (9/5): A lovely quiet place on a lovely quiet street in an idyllic village! - This spot is fantastic. It's essentially an airbnb with two guest suites. The view is beautiful, the chairs and bed super comfy, Cellardyke is so so cute, and the hosts' food recommendations are delicious. The info on the description about breakfast is out of date, this is essentially an airbnb. Not a problem, lovely breakfasts in Anstruther, but be aware that no breakfast is included. The hosts emailed to that effect the first morning, as well. Also be aware that parking is going to be stressful!
- Janis (9/5): So relaxing I didn’t want to leave - Fantastic view and very friendly owner
- Rachel (9/5): - Amazing location, even on a stormy winter weekend! Very friendly hosts.
- Tarry Waterson (9/5): - Very nice room with great view.
- Emilia (10/5): Would love to come back! - Lovely hosts, very helpful and kind. Perfect room with a great sea view. Only approvement would be that the window was cleaner on the outside so the view would be even better.😅
- Tom (10/5): Very friendly owner, great location and wonderful sea view. - Superb location, Very close to the harbour. A ten minute walk to Anstruther in the other direction. There is a small parking spot opposite the property that we used regularly.
- Rachel (10/5): Stunning location, lovely room and hosts, highly recommend. - Beautiful guesthouse, lovely friendly host who couldn't do enough, stunning location. I was very impressed and the room was far better than the photos on booking.com. Great location for walk into Anstruther (15 minutes) and Cellardyke tidal pool (5 minutes). Lovely local pub a minute walk away The Haven. No breakfast wasn't a problem and they provided porridge pots which was great. I spent the evening looking out to sea as it's right on the coast, highly recommend.

- Tuesday (10/5): Fantastic, would definitely book in again! - Beltane house was fantastic - friendly and knowledgable hosts and a fantastic property perfectly situated for an artist taking part in the East Neuk Festival.
- Leslie (9/5): Gorgeous view in pretty Cellardyke - We had a lovely ocean-view suite that was thoughtfully laid out with cozy chairs facing the water - very inviting and comfy for sitting with a tea or glass of wine. Check-in times were pretty flexible. Location was excellent for exploring coast, walking the coastal trail and handy to restaurants. Sounds picky but shower temperature was very difficult to control and pressure was low - the unit looked new but was not very good. I’m not particularly scent-sensitive but the sheets smelled so strongly of detergent that I had to keep rearranging through the night - obviously I don’t know if this was typical or an accidental one-time thing.

- Argelia (10/5): Peaceful place - I stayed here for a night and I am already looking forward to visiting again. The view was breathtaking as the rooms had a window that faced the water. The set up of the tea, the chair, and the general living area make for a cozy night in or a relaxing morning view. The bed was very comfortable, and the owners were delightful. They made sure my needs were met, and I could not have asked for better hosts. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the St. Andrews or Dundee vicinity. It is very hard to reach the property using public transportation and the area has very limited lighting once it gets dark.
- LINDA (9/5): - We had a 2-night stay in Belstane House. It was very comfortable and roomy. The accommodation consisted of a living room with outlook onto the sea, a double bedroom with very comfortable bed, and a large modern shower room and toilet. There was a kettle and some goodies for us too. Easy walking distance to Anstruther and just a skip and a jump from Cellardyke Harbour and tidal pool. Car parking available across the road or nearby.
Thanks for your hospitality Linda. There was no kitchen area, which was fine for a couple of nights, but would have missed it if staying for longer. Other than that, it was great.
- Elke (10/5): -
- Gary (9/5): - Fantastic view out the window to the Firth
- Bea (7/5): -
- Lesley (10/5): Perfect accommodation for a short stay & tops it off when the host is so welcoming & friendly - The views right on the coast, facilities, cleanliness, comfort. Visit fife frequently & this accommodation was just perfect, possibly the best we’ve stayed in to date. Nothing
- Jean-Luc (9/5): Calme et détente - Emplacement, vue et calme Difficulté pour se garer
- Debora (10/5): -
- Lazg (9/5): Excellent. - The location and view were excellent as was the apartment. There was no breakfast, we knew before we booked. Pots of instant porridge were provided though. A fridge would be a welcome addition mainly because it was warm when we stayed..
- Kathleen (8/5): -
- FRANCIS (10/5): A terrific and welcoming place to stay. - A very warm welcome from Linda and great advice on local amenities, including pointing us in the right direction for dinner.
The view from the property is stunning.
Would certainly return! Nothing really, but parking can be limited in the area which is due to the charming location.
- Valentina (10/5): Exceptional - Belstane House in Cellardyke was an absolute delight! Our room was a tiny treasure trove, the most beautiful room we've seen in any hotel in Scotland. The view and decor were simply enchanting. Linda, the owner, was wonderful, warm and welcoming. Her hospitality made our stay even more special. We'll definitely be back, can't wait to return to this little slice of heaven! 5 stars without doubt
- Lara (8/5): Very good -
- Lorraine (8/5): Very good - Size of room was great with added bonus of lounge seating to relax and enjoy the amazing views. Parking is tricky and limited and hadn't appreciated there was no breakfast included. 11am instead of 10am checkout would be good.
- Wioleta (10/5): Wow! Wow! Wow! - A unique place with a breathtaking view of the sea. I felt like I was in a lighthouse. The atmosphere was full of charm, and the space felt open and airy. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming – truly exceptional hospitality.
- Ann (10/5): A great place for a couple with super sea views. - The room was very comfortable with a wonderful sea view from the sitting area. Nothing
- John (9/5): Very nice flat in a lovely coastal village. -
- Martin (10/5): Life changing - This box is way to small to list the likes we have
YOU JUST HAVE TO GO THIS PLACE IS ON ANOTHER LEVEL BOOK YOU WILL NEVER BE DISAPPOINTED Nothing it’s perfect
- Colin (10/5): Lovely comfortable stay - Excellent hosts, location and clean. Parking can be tricky
- William (9/5): Superb - Room with a view. Clean and comfortable with a good shower. Would happily stay again.
- Hamish (10/5): Exceptional - The location was wonderful,
- Ross (7/5): Lovely location and property but facilities and comms a disappointment. - Superb location and plenty of room. When i requested Muesli for breakfast for my wife pre booking I was told they didnt serve breakfast but would provid a complimentary continetal breakfast for us. Plastic pot of " add hot water" porridge and a mini twix did not meet expectations. Having to get up and dressed to walk into the village to find somewhere for breakfast is not condusive to a relaxing holiday. We ran out of milk and left messages which werent responded to meaning a long walk to source milk only to return for it to be by our door. No coffee machine as advertised. A toaster and microwave would have been nice given the premium price charged.
- Donnie (9/5): Superb - Location and the great interaction with the owner Very clean and well presented
- Caitlin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laurin (9/5): Superb -
- Beverly (10/5): Lovely stay - Lovely welcome, beautiful room. Very comfortable with amazing view. Handy for the local pub!
- Elspeth (10/5): Fabulous accommodation in excellent location - Lovely friendly helpful host and huge space, with lounge area, bedroom and spacious bathroom as well as stunning sea view in perfect location near Cellardyke tidal pool We weren't there long enough!😂
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - The view was incredible and the hosts were super friendly!
- Fraser (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacqui (9/5): Would definitely recommend to others and stay again ourselves. - Very spacious accommodation. We had 2 rooms adjacent to each other across the landing so mum had some privacy as did my husband and I. Clean, warm and comfortable. Excellent recommendation of the local cafe Bread & Butter which we went to for breakfast. Parking isn't easy if you have any one in your party that isn't happy to walk a little bit. But if you are ok to walk a short way then you can find parking.
- Fernie (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely room(s) with fabulous outlook. (And 'real' coffee)! Nothing!
- Kevin-patrick (10/5): perfect location, photos didnt do the place justice, 11 out of 10/ - Fantastic location, facilities were outstanding and the view was amazing, Linda the host was lovely, she was so friendly and helpful, will 100% be back. nothing, it was perfect.
- Christopher (9/5): A wonderful place to rest and recharge whilst walking the Fife Coastal Path. - Great location, very welcoming host, lovely room.
- Geoff (10/5): Very enjoyable, close to pub and restaurant, great walks from the front door. Lovely host. - Spacious , comfortable , great views Could have done with a mini fridge otherwise excellent
- Donald (8/5): Very nice owners and very accommodating I would recommend staying there - Great view of the sea There was no way to open a window to get some fresh air
- Ritchie (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly, comfortable , clean and great views

- Iain (8/5): Very good - The situation of property. Close too a restaurant and view. Parking, and leaving time not highlighted until received an email that morning.
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joan (10/5): Exceptional! - A beautiful house in a stunning location. The view was exceptional, as was the attention to detail and style. Lovely, relaxed atmosphere with every comfort.
- James (8/5): Very peaceful ... relaxing - A conventional breakfast was not included ... but we were aware of that beforehand Nothing ... all good

- Franco (9/5): Great place for a short stay - Super view over the ocean, friendly owner, very nice room A bit pricey
- Ralph (9/5): Superb - Fantastic location and host. The room had a wonderful view and was very comfortable Parking was tricky, but you have to expect it in a town that was built before cars were about!!!
- Samantha (9/5): Superb -
- Stephanie (10/5): Certainly a room with a view! Wow! A fabulous night's stay - highly recommend. - We had a wonderful, relaxing night's stay at Belstane House. We loved the spacious, comfortable room with separate seating area and the view ... wow! It's breathtaking. We sat captivated and would very much have liked to stay for longer. Next time! Thank you Linda for being such a welcoming host. We look forward to our next stay! N/A
- Chris (10/5): It was great to have some extra space, beautiful house in a great location with stunning sea views. - Welcome by host was great. Beautifully decorated, good size rooms and bathroom, exceptional views. Parking a bit tricky but we managed to park right outside, which was great.
- Michael (10/5): Relaxing - Everything Nothing
- Turner (9/5): Superb -
- Catherine (8/5): We loved our stay and would definitely come back. - Location perfect view amazing.
Rooms spacious. Lack of fridge
Change to breakfast no longer being available should be clear on booking.
- Fiona (8/5): Ideallic stay in the peaceful and historic Neuk of old Cellatdyke. - Both outlooks were incredible. Really enjoyed napping in the afternoon peace. Loved having Cellardyke harbour by the doorstep. The facilities were either newly installed or good, robust quality. However, the facilities could be greatly improved at no great cost with the addition of a small fridge for storing our milk, wine and local strawberries; and a few bowls and cutlery for making a light snack.
- John (10/5): Excellent! - Great location in the East Nuek of Fife. The accommodation was very comfortable and has a fabulous view over the sea to the Isle of May,Bass Rock and Berwick Law.
Communication with the owners was first class and Craig went above and beyond expectation in helping us out with a logistical issue.
We would definitely stay here again and would thoroughly recommend Belstane House to there’s looking for comfortable accommodation in the Ea st Nuek.
- Dawn (8/5): Would recommend - Lovely big space with beautiful view, separate space to sit and coffee making facilities Parking is tricky. You have to find a space further along and walk bag to the accommodation with luggage
- Michal (10/5): Exceptional - The apartment was spacious with a beautiful sea view. We also appreciated the coffee machine and snacks we had in the room. Communication with Craig and Linda was smooth.
- Rona (9/5): Superb -
- Janet (10/5): Even nicer than I'd expected, perfect. - Rooms were bigger than I expected and beautiful spaces, tasteful and easy to feel at home in while watching the sea and sky out the window. Hosts' communication was lovely and gave us our own space to come and go as we pleased. From the photos I'd thought the garden was available as a space to use - it wasn't but it was lovely to look at anyway.
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing stay. Great hosts very relaxed and welcoming. Caused a small amount of damage. Hosts completely undertanding, no fuss. Very close to tidal pool for swimming. Nice pub with food and beer garden literally next door. Parking close by easy. 5 minute walk to harbour with bars and great food options. Could not recommend more highly. Nothing. View was outstanding from apartment window.
- Prakash (10/5): Excellent - Please provide some instruction for the shower. It took a long time for the shower temp to normalize.
- Beate (8/5): Very good - It was a really nice stay! We even had a small living room with two very comfortable armchairs to enjoy the marvellous view. Our landlady was very nice and approachable. She even took care of my suitcase arriving early, which was really appreciated. For the two of us, it would have been the icing on the cake if we had found a slightly softer topper in the bed. But that probably always varies according to what people want and need. All in all, we had a great time.
- Angus (9/5): Happy to recommend and would come back again. - The room / suite was comfortable and spacious with a great view. Many swifts flying outside the window and early morning three porpoise swam by just off shore. All in line with our expectations for a great two night stay and Linda was very welcoming and friendly.
- Wayne (10/5): Fantastic accommodation in Cellardyke, Anstruther - Fantastic accommodation comprising a bedroom and a lounge. Spotlessly clean. Decent size bedroom with a most comfortable bed. Lounge area off the bedroom and overlooking the sea was a great place to relax and we found this extra space to be a great bonus. The decor of the accommodation was really good. There was a tea and coffee tray with good beverages and nice biscuits provided - also instant oat porridge was provided which is a very thoughtful touch. Small library just off our room was handy. The property overlooks the sea and is on the coastal path and is a short walk to Anstruther. Owner, Craig, was friendly and helpful and always available but in no way intrusive. I will definitely return and can highly recommend this lovely place. Nothing at all
- Lorna (9/5): Superb -
- Cecilia (8/5): You cannot get better hosts than Linda & Craig. - The lane where the house was located was very narrow, so Linda and Craig the proprietors were very helpful with helping us park our vehicle, also they recommended a lovely pub / restaurant called “The Haven” which was just steps from their place. Cellardyke was very scenic, and the whole stay was just what we were looking for. Stairs were very steep, but Linda assisted us in navigating 2 heavy bags.
- Sarah (10/5): A seaside dream - The view is the major selling point. It’s breathtaking. The room is more like an apartment with a living area styled beautifully, a lovely bedroom and modern bathroom. The photos don’t do it justice. I would have stayed forever if it weren’t pretty inconvenient for my awesome hosts 😂 That it’s not where i live 😂
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional - The view was beautiful. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Craig and Linda are really nice and so helpful. Their recommendation for dinner was outstanding also. Parking is a little tight, but once we parked we could walk everywhere.
- Craig (9/5): Perfect place for our stay - Fantastic sea view, great location, very friendly owner. They don’t do breakfast but there were porridge pots in the room which were very nice.
- Karen (9/5): Great will be back - Area , and view
- Heather (10/5): Excellent accommodation - Warm welcome, great location, and accommodation Would have liked breakfast however a porridge pot was provided and gratefully received
- Linda (8/5): Very good - Belstane house was lovely, nice big room, very clean, lovely sea views and Craig the host was lovely ...
- Kirsteen (10/5): Exceptional - The view! It was stunning! And the sound of the sea through the open window. It was also a suite rather than a room with a lounge where I could sit and watch the sea, plus a bedroom and large ensuite. Hosts were also lovely and welcoming and had made contact before my stay as well. There is no breakfast served but porridge pots had been left which was great.
- Pamela (9/5): Comfortable rooms - Great views, comfortable bed. Large room with armchairs. Good wifi No onsite parking, but I parked z short distance away ok.
