Guest Reviews
- NICAD (5/5): - Not alot There was no mention on booking.com that the spa was not available and that was one of the reasons for booking
- Lesley (8/5): -
- Luis (9/5): -
- Valerie (9/5): Excellent location, staff very friendly, had comfortable nights sleep - Gloria was most helpful suggesting options for breakfast, liked the choice of food availableo Only one downside the fried egg my husband ordered was quite runny had to ask for it to be cooked a little moreExcellent
- Jonathan (8/5): Would certainly recommend, with plenty to do on sounding areas - Fabulous location
Amazing grounds
Worth a visit
Only l mile from the end of the motorway
Very convenient Check out for me was not a good experience
- Angela (10/5): Best hotel with history and dog friendly! - This property is absolutely stunning, our favourite hotel to stay at in the area. Fantastic gardens and woodland, all dog friendly. The absolute best staff who cannot do enough for you! Food is great with a more relaxed bar menu or à la carte in main restaurant. Gorgeous market towns nearby including Yarm, Stokesley and Thirsk. Nothing!
- Hazel (10/5): - Lovely friendly staff, fabulous vegetarian breakfast, perfect room.
- Charlotte (10/5): - The staff were excellent. Professional, helpful, friendly and went out of their way to make sure our stay was the best it could be.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb stay. - Great location. Staff went above and beyond to welcome and accommodate us. Excellent breakfast. The bathroom is a little dated.
- Dicker (4/5): Lovely building and surrounds, but lacked atmosphere, overall very disappointed . - The room was a good size. When i went to the bar to order food and drink, the young lady serving seemed to be overwhelmed, the bar wasn't busy. Fortunately another member of staff helped to smooth the situation out, which i commend her for being on her game.
- Charlotte (10/5): - Amazing time. Staff went above and beyond for our anniversary and birthday. Hotel was our wedding venue and it's just stunning. Nothing:)
- liz (10/5): Fabulous stay in very comfortable country house hotel with great staff. - Impressive building, grand but comfortable interiors. Exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable staff. A very relaxing stay, lovely food, beautiful grounds. Nothing!
- Margaret (9/5): Friendly, attentive staff and excellent food. - Full of character with beautiful grounds Nothing!
- David (10/5): -

- Ruth (10/5): - A beautiful location, excellent facilities and amazing staff. A special shout out to the young girl working in the Nancy Tennant Lounge. Her service was exceptional and it was her first night working on her own.
- W (9/5): Giid hotel nice staff - Great breakfast Service a little slow at meal times
- Lewis (10/5): My stay at Crathorne was absolutely fabulous I couldn’t ask for anything better - Everything was perfect Nothing
- Stuart (10/5): Quiet, clam and friendly staff. - The friendly staff, felt looked after. Nothing, everything was spot on.
- Cuthbert (5/5): Practical with nice staff but lacking wow factor - Lots of character and history Seems a bit dated and could do with a refresh & spruce up
- Paul (10/5): Such a beautiful friendly hotel . Literally everyone made us welcome from walking into the reception. Thank you so much - A stunning property. The architecture throughout is beautiful. nothing
- Elizabeth (10/5): - The staffvery friendly Small issue, room was at first very cold
- Christopher (10/5): -
- Paula (10/5): -
- Tanya (9/5): -
- Laurence (8/5): KINGA on reception was wonderful, indeed all of the staff were courteous and cheerful - Breakfast was very good, food quality overall was good however the chef failed at to cook the steak at dinner as well done and even on returning it to the table it still was medium at best but my guest decided to just eat it. Rooms we’re excessively warm, no place to put toiletries in bathroom, no separate door on toilet.
- Joseph (10/5): Lovely but special occasions rather then frequent - A lovely location , beautifully decorated Nothing , the prices were a bit excessive
- christophe (9/5): -
- Chris (10/5): Another great stay in Craythorne Hall - Attentive staff and a fantastic breakfast experience and a nice walk around the gardens & grounds N/A
- Jamie (10/5): - From start to finish the experience was exceptional the staff were brilliant and made it extra special for more wife's birthday
Relaxing atmosphere couldn't ask for a better place to stay
- Matthew (10/5): We stay in loads of hotels this is our favourite - Location We stayed for two nights and were on the top floor. Should have more notices to say there is a lift.
- Hastings (10/5): - Friendly staff amazing building with a fantastic scenery got engaged while there and all the team went above and beyond with this they cant do enough for you Nothing
- Hierons (10/5): - The location, the room was perfect, food was excellent but most of all the staff were outstanding they all went above and beyond to make our anniversary a memorable one we will definately be returning in the future. Nothing, our whole experience was perfect.
- Paul (9/5): -
- Matt (8/5): Atmospheric Getaway - Good location and a stunning building. Lovely vibe inside with a great atmosphere, lovely music and delicious food. Great service especially from our Brazilian waiter whose name I did not catch. But the wine was expertly presented to us and our evening meal was delicious. The room was a good size and the bed was exceptionally comfortable and the Crathorne dairy milk provided was very tasty. The bathroom was a bit rundown. Paint chipped off the wooded window ledge, 2 lady birds one flying around inside and the other dead on the side. Only had 1 towel until I requested another.
When taking our order the waitress recommended I had a £5 bowl of chips with my Ox Cheek but failed to mention it came with mashed potato anyways which I thought was rather silly and a waste of money.
Despite these things it was a wonderful stay and I would come again. It was just a shame to have a few small things let this place down. Without these it would’ve certainly been a 10/10
- Margaret (9/5): - The room was spacious, grounds were beautiful and the staff excellent. Nothing
- mark (10/5): -
- philip (8/5): Pleasant visit and very good staff attention and attitude. Would visit again - Very comfortable room and bed Shower was poor
- Sam (8/5): -
- Lynne (10/5): A very memorable occasion, helped by exceptionally good staff. - The breakfast was great, very varied with a variety of digestive shots which was a nice touch. The accommodation exceeded our expectations. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, recommending various places to visit. We were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary and the staff went out of their way to make it a memorable occasion. We will certainly be visiting Crathorne Hall in the future.
- Aaron (10/5): -
- Lucie (9/5): Very comfortable, elegant hotel, with friendly and attentive staff, in a very attractive setting. - The breakfast was beautifully served, and was very good and filling. I had the full Yorkshire breakfast which kept me going until the evening. The fresh pastries could have been fresher, but overall it was excellent. There was a shard of glass underneath my bed, which had clearly escaped the cleaner's attention. Also, a kettle in the room would have been welcome.
- Rayner (10/5): Wonderful dog friendly hotel with fantastic staff - The staff made our visit memorable. In particular Martin, and Tia. The property is lovely. The food was excellent. It was a pleasure to walk around the grounds. Apart from the staff, probably the best thing for us was how dog friendly it is. A lot of hotels say they are dog friendly but in reality aren't. At Crathorne Hall our two dogs were welcomed and looked after. Nothing!
- Debbie (10/5): Stunning setting, beautiful surroundings and such a brilliant team who made us feel very special and welcome 🥰 - Beautiful setting, stunning walks around the hall and of course amazing rooms x
All the team were very friendly and we enjoyed every contact we had throughout our stay from reception, to breakfast Nothing
- Francisco Javier (7/5): -
- linda (10/5): - The staff are amazing couldn’t do enough for us and make a really lovely atmosphere .
The food is fabulous too…
- Samia (10/5): -
- Paul (10/5): - The staff were amazing, professional & attentive all with a personal, friendly touch.
The building was warm and welcoming, authentic and relaxing environment. Nothing
- Nicola (9/5): Excellent experience, will return. - A wonderful welcome and friendly staff. The doorman and reception staff were warm, welcoming and helpful, as were the breakfast staff, taking the time to chat and take family pictures of us in front of the Chistmas tree. The hotel is beautiful. We enjoyed lounging in the bar, walking in the grounds and the rooms were comfortable and spacious. Nothing really. I would personally like a water bottle each but that's a minor point and I know they would have refilled if we asked.
- Charles (10/5): - Everything, the room was perfect, the bar was friendly and served great cocktails snd breakfast was excellent
- Jeanette (9/5): - You are made to feel special. The amazing service, staff and food... The room temperature was a bit too hot.
- Grace (10/5): From arrival I was made to feel like more than a valued guest, it was as if I was a family friend. Is hard to describe b - You are made to feel very welcome and the personal attention to detail as a guest is second to none at Crathorne Hall.
- Jane (10/5): Absolutely first class - First class service and delightful setting. Great food!
- Jacqueline (9/5): -
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional - Staff were excellent .The best Not applicable
- Christopher (10/5): An exceptional hotel with exceptional staff! - The reason we decided to stay at Crathorne Hall was due to their kindness to our daughter and her family, while they had dropped by, just to charge their car. They spoke of the hotel staff's exceptional friendliness and support, particularly as she was nursing a 5 month old child and with a tired three year old as well! From the moment we walked through the door, we understood. Every member of staff with whom we came into contact, be it Rebecca and Christa on Reception, the porter whose name, unfortunately, I didn't catch, Christopher the electrician, who came to investigate an issue with some lamps, Gilmar the 'Maître d', Martin and Gloria, in charge at breakfast time; all displayed a level of service and friendly support, it would be difficult to match, anywhere. By the time we left after just one night, we really felt a sense of belonging. This might sound a bit over the top but it's not. The only way to understand this is to go! The food matched our overall experience, the ox cheeks I had having been slow cooked for 42 hours and boy, you could tell! Breakfast was just as good with an excellent choice, either cooked or not. The grounds are lovely to walk around and there are marked paths for those wanting to go a little bit further. This was a memorable stay and we will most certainly be back! There was nothing we didn't like.
- Harry (8/5): Great building. - Lovely atmospheric building, excellent facilities, friendly staff.
- David Painting (9/5): -
- Amjad (9/5): Comfortable, Historical, delightful - The ambiance, location, the gardens No bedroom slippers were available
- Neil (7/5): -
- Lesley (9/5): A beautiful place to stay, made even more beautiful by the wonderful staff! - The staff are absolutely amazing! Our stay was to attend a family wedding about 7 miles away from the hotel, and the staff made transport arrangements for us and were generally so helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night, which was delicious, with a good bottle of wine from the extensive wine list. A hot breakfast was cooked to order (always a bonus) and the cereals/fruits buffet was well stocked each morning. My only slight complaint was that the room was quite hot.
- Patsy (10/5): Wonderful weekend experience - Set in the countryside wide beautiful views towards the Hambleton Hills. The room was lovely. the staff were super helpful. Overall a lovely night away
- Joy (10/5): Celebrating Ruby wedding after having our wedding reception here 40 years ago. Everything was excellent, The staff profe - Beautiful setting. Lovely building. Spacious
- Richard (10/5): The staff and hotel brightened up what was a sad day - Beautiful location, friendly polite staff that remembered your name. Breakfast and the dinner were Michelin star quality. Can't wait to return N/A
- Ken (7/5): Beautiful venue, brilliant staff, amazing food, just let down by daft things. - The location is stunning and idyllic. The staff were brilliant and added a personal touch to your arrival and stay. The restaurant and its offerings were sublime, even down to the breakfast the morning after. Our room wasn't cleaned to the high standard we would have expected for the price point and the water pressure in the shower was woeful. These points were reported the morning we left and we were offered a discount which helped. It is a shame though as, otherwise, it was a perfect stay.
- Patrick (10/5): -
- Rayner (10/5): - I was delighted to arrive and be advised that I was chosen as guest of the day. The note in the room along with the cocolates was such a lovely treat, especially after a long day travelling. Thank you :-) Nothing, the staff were tremendous. Checkin was smooth and the hotel. WOW
- chambers (10/5): -
- Tai (10/5): - Amazing, friendly staff. Beautiful room with a lovely view Lots of stairs
- Paul (9/5): -
- Chris (10/5): Enjoyable stay and well looked after in the hotel - Nice rooms all good
Nice gardens and property.
Great food Liked it all
- David (9/5): - The thing that sets the hotel apart are the staff... the facilities, location, food are all as you'd expect from a quality hotel - but the staff are very good. A couple of examples: we were staying in order to attend my Dad's funeral. On arrival, the staff were alert to this - we had a hand written card from them in the room. They were sensitive and genuinely interested and concerned throughout our stay. We had non-resident guests join us for dinner and the team were extremely accommodating to their requirements - and when they asked about the hotel, the staff were extremely knowledgeable about the history. In short, they felt like they cared...
- Marshall (9/5): A very enjoyable stay and a first class location to entertain guests over dinner. - An extremely characterful and well presented property, with delightful bar and dining rooms. The evening dinner and breakfast were excellent, as was the attentive and friendly service throughout. I do not have any negative comments.
- Anthony (9/5): -
- Wayne (9/5): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Service and Beautiful Stay at Crathorne Hall - From the moment we arrived at Crathorne Hall, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The staff were polite, friendly, and incredibly attentive, going above and beyond to ensure every aspect of our stay was perfect. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and their genuine warmth made us feel truly welcome throughout.
A special mention must go to Krista, who was absolutely outstanding. She took personal ownership in resolving an issue with our original booking and handled it with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency. Her proactive approach and attention to detail ensured we were fully catered for, even arranging some thoughtful gratuities that made our stay extra special.
The room itself was immaculate, with excellent amenities and an impressive standard of cleanliness that really stood out. Every element—from the crisp linens to the well-appointed facilities—reflected the care and pride taken by the hotel team.
Crathorne Hall is a truly beautiful place to stay, but it’s the people who make it exceptional. We left feeling genuinely cared for and will absolutely be returning in the future. Highly recommended.
- James (5/5): For the Price it was not what is was expecting, (not worth it) - Breakfast was excellent and so were the breakfast team. Empty bottle of water in the fridge in room and no replaced.
Biscuits and tea not replenished during room clean/turn down.
no drinking water in rooms at all.
