Guest Reviews
- Diane (9/5): A tranquil quirky cottage on a beautiful site just the ticket for a relaxing weekend. - A very quirky comfortable cottage enough space to 2 people. Bed very comfortable and shower was great. Kitchen was spacious and well equipped like the added extra of the fresh milk and tea and coffee facilities. Lots of character. Will definitely stay again.
- Sharron (8/5): -
- Barratt (10/5): Really lovely period house convenient for NEC - Lovely location in a warm and cosy, characterful property No private garden but there were lovely dog walks near by
- Rachel (7/5): pretty ,safe and special - pretty yellow buildings courtyard quiet rural road. creaky old floor board and dark beams.
Plenty there to cook bake and relax. bath and features of this cottage are beautiful. the stairs are dark painted and obviously old and rustic.
the garden is small and nothing special.
- daniel (7/5): Lovely rural stay - Character Smelt very old as you walked through the door
- Susanne (9/5): -
- Graham (8/5): - Lovely location, and very well equipped, beautifully restored accommodation, boasting an abundance of oak beams. Also very cosy and comfortable. We arrived late because of traffic, and after wandering around for some time, a lady popped her head out and told us which was ours, and we never saw anyone after, so it was certainly relaxing. Would certainly recommend. As Octogenarians the stairs were passable with care, and the steeply angled ceiling either side of the bed, made it rather difficult to access the bed. Both doable but at times annoying. Also the bed was comfortable, but the bed frame creaked badly, obviously because of it's age. Honey moon couples be warned.
- Irene (10/5): Sehr liebevoll gestaltetes Anwesen in schöner Umgebung -
- Zara (10/5): Nice size family cottage in a fabulous location! - Beautiful cute cottage in a wonderful location Not a thing
- Palfrey (10/5): Wonderful. - Absolutely beautiful, decorated keeping within the age of the building but had everything you could possibly need for your stay. Bed was so comfortable!
- Julie (10/5): Beautiful old building in stunning location we will def. re- book for a short break away - Location perfect for my daughters wedding at Shustoke Barns. The accommodation was beautiful, very clean, great beds and the staff were very accommodating as we had photographers, makeup artists etc. visiting. Great staff who were so helpful nothing was too much trouble Absolutely nothing everything was fantastic
- Melissa (10/5): Lovely, private, cottage and authentically English. - Clean, quiet, great location very comfortable.
- WILLIAM (8/5): Lovely short break from the city. - Charming, cosy historic property. Very peaceful getaway ☺️
- Brigid (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay though could do with more kitchen equipment. - Lovely rural location and a beautiful historic property in an attractive farm complex. The owner was helpful and friendly. Kitchen could do with being better equipped. Dishwasher not washing things well.
- Sarah (10/5): Idyliic, charming, Historic - We rented the 3 bedroom cottage.
It was absolutely gorgoeus.
The photos do not do it justice.
We all loved it!
It combined historic features like ancient beams and old flagstone floors, with modern conveneinces like Bosch dishwasher and washing machine.
Everywhere was simply, but delightfully furnished.
There was a strong sense of history. You could imagine the farm operating in a bygone age.
The property was in an idyllic rural location, down a secluded lane, but was still conveniently located a short drive from local pubs and cafes, and the village centre of Coleshill, and there were delightful country walks from the property to take our dog.
It was really peaceful, so we all had an excellent night's sleep.
We would definitely love to come back for a longer stay next time. It was perfect. There was nothing not to like.
- Sabah (8/5): Cosy a lovely clean stay - Really nice property I have stayed here before but in the bigger house The bed creaked a lot
Just moving my head the bed creaked it wasn’t comfortable that’s the only thing:(
But apart from that everything was exceptional
- Jan Holland (10/5): - Everything Perfect Nothing
- Farah (10/5): - Beyond the best time ever they were welcoming and caring the place was cosy and beautiful I will defoo come back again
- Rik (10/5): -
- Margaret (8/5): - The quaintness was very nice. Very Rural and very quiet.
- Eunice (7/5): Not as good as previous times - Love the location Didn’t feel it was as well stocked as in previous years
- Matt (9/5): Great cottage with lovely interior - Location, the interior and the bedroom. Could have had some basic condiments.
- Teresa (10/5): We loved our stay at the Dovehouse farm! - One of the nicest accommodations we've had the pleasure to stay in. The host was very welcoming, rooms clean and supplies left for us to use for our stay. We were sad to leave and can't wait to return one day. Our children loved the rooms and beds were very comfortable.
- Paul (10/5): Very comfortable and luxurious stay close to Birmingham - Great location for Birmingham. Cottage was cosy, very clean and had everything one needs for an overnight stay.
- Evans (8/5): - The bed was very creaky and uncomfortable
- James (9/5): Great well equipped character property in a peaceful location - Great property - full of character and well equipped. Quiet location but still very handy for attending an event at the NEC in the morning.
- Jeffrey (10/5): -
- Gavin (10/5): Peaceful, Cozzy, safe and super friendly - Beautiful little cottage home, not to far from every,
Perfect for a romantic get away or a base to explore
Owners extremely nice and helpful Absolutely nothing
- ianthe88 (10/5): Full of charm! - Absolutely gorgeous farm cottage that had everything we needed. Lovely touches like fresh milk! We were there to attend a wedding at Shustoke Barn. The kids loved running around the front yard. It was perfect! Nothing at all - it was great.
- Laura (10/5): -
- Stephanie (10/5): -
- Kelly (9/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the location and how beautiful the property is. It has so much character and charm and c - Location stunning, outside Christmas lights so pretty, property looked cosy and the most perfect setting for our Christmas as a new family ☺️
Welcome booklet detailed everything perfectly, host’s communication before arrival extremely informative and very friendly making the whole process so smooth 👍🏼
Kitchen had everything we needed to cook our Christmas lunch. Ample bed linen for the sofa bed. Excellent bathroom. Plenty of heaters, so we felt very cosy. Under the bed wasn’t very clean (I dropped a ring and had to retrieve it only to get covered in dust and dirt) but this wasn’t anything that put me off.
Stairs are very dark despite the reactive stair lights as you go up and down (which we did have to charge up ourselves as some weren’t working). Whilst there are warnings detailed as you go up the stairs there were a couple of little accidents but totally our own faults 🤭
- Kadie (10/5): Great stay, would definitely come back - Really lovely one bedroom house, very cosy and perfect for a work trip
- Samantha (9/5): - Nice little touches such as milk in the fridge and a Christmas tree. Not a problem for us but if you were very tall you may have a problem with bumping your head
- Lee (10/5): - Great compact cottage, great location, clean with all amenities, nice touches for Christmas feel, thanks 👌👌❤️
- Anisha (9/5): Property was lovely and well worth the reasonable price, will certainly be returning. - Such a cosy property absolutely loved our time here. If I’m being picky, the bed was in an awkward position where you need to bend over to get in from the sides and there was no shower gel/body wash provided, lucky we had our own though.
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect - It was stunning. Absolutely beautiful. Everything we needed, gorgeous location. Will definitely be back. Nothing
- Jenna (10/5): Will be returning over and over again, this place has my heart - I’m blown away, we stayed in the one bed cottage and it was absolutely stunning. They had put the lights and heating on for us so it was nice and snug when we arrived. The cottage was immaculate and only regret is I hadn’t booked for longer. This is my new go to place and I will defo be returning over and over again. A place to unwind and forget about the world and switch off The character, the homeliness, peaceful, cleanliness, utilities
- Guest (10/5): Lovely place ❤️ - Everything ! Thank you so much ! 💫
- kirbie (9/5): Lovely property - The property was lovely, nice and spacious. Very cute. Check-in was unclear. And they lock the main gate at night but no one told us and it was on the second page of the guest information (in the middle of the page and a big paragraph), so we were unaware and ended up not being able to stay for the second night of our stay (our wedding night)
- Karen (8/5): Very comfortable and cozy. The cottage was warm and welcoming. - The coziness of the cottage, all facilities were there. We arrived late due to traffic. However the hosts were very welcoming and made sure we were okay. The kitchen cupboard doors needed repairing and the fridge had frozen the milk. Otherwise everything else was perfect.
- Lucy (8/5): Lovely quaint cottage and cosy stay! Perfect! - Location was perfect for what I needed. The host was very welcoming and we were grateful for accommodating us and our pooch last minute.
The cottage was lovely and cosy, with refreshment on arrival which is a bonus! Possibly more tea! more pans and selection of cooking pots.
- Janine (10/5): Highly recommend. Beautiful house in a peaceful yet convenient location. - The house was amazing. Very warm, clean and comfortable. In a lovely area. Just a tiny thing. We tried unsuccessfully to get into the property. Turns out it was a house with a different name. A very kind neighbour helped us out.
- Mike (10/5): A lovely home in a nice secluded area. - A beautiful home and in a nice quiet secluded area.
The house was very well furnished and had everything you would need if you were self catering. Thoughtfully the hosts had provided a bottle of milk in the fridge as there's always something I forget to bring.
This was a lovely home and just a short drive to the NEC.
- Mark (10/5): Come here,it's excellent - Location and the whole house, it's excellent in every way 👌
Super cozy, comfy, peaceful absolutely brilliant 👏 Nothing
- Sandra (10/5): Thank you, will come back for sure! - Beautiful place, the cottage was so nice and really welcoming. Would spend my whole there relaxing in this beautiful place. All you need there to have a wonderful stay. I went for work and alone so could go back only to have few days to relax.
- Colin (10/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): We had a lovely stay, the cottage had everything we needed and was full of character. -
- Griff (9/5): -
- Chris (9/5): Very comfortable and enjoyable stay... - Beautiful property in a lovely rural setting. The property was spacious and had everything we needed.. Spoke to the host prior to arrival to check on some details, and was then recommended a local pub which was also very nice, but plenty to choose from within a 3 mile radius... There was nothing not to like..
- Morrison (10/5): - The cottage was beautiful with the wooden beams and stone floors. A stunning place with great facilities. There was nothing to not like
- Mary Paula (9/5): Relaxing break - Comfortable accommodation , plenty of room, lovely surroundings. Probably not for anyone with any mobility issues.
- Castleton (8/5): Beautiful cottage in lovely setting. - Cobwebs and dust expected, but bathroom sink dirty.
- Martina (8/5): Charming Cottage - Private, quiet, lots of character and charm.
Owners were very considerate and understanding when we needed to amend our booking. Friendly call from housekeeper before check in was reassuring. A small point, but no plastic bag liner in kitchen foot pedal bin,so could not use.
- Rachel (10/5): A lovely home, my partner and I had a very relaxing stay. Thank you. - The pictures on the listing don’t do the property justice - a gorgeous home! Extremely cosy, very peaceful and would definitely return if I’m back in the area. Kitchen was very well equipped but little things like salt/pepper/cooking oil in the cupboards would be a great bonus and would make lives a little easier for guests - but absolutely not a reason to not stay here!!
- Gary (7/5): Nice rural location in a nice character property - Character property, stone floor and lovely location and setting.
Easy parking immediately outside the property. It was a bit cold inside on arrival and we had difficulty getting the central heating to work. It turned to have a fault. However the owner arranged extra electric heaters for us and these worked a treat. Thank you.
There isn't much room to walk around the bed because of the roof eaves. It's a very old house and perhaps we should have taken more notice of the photos. Our fault I guess!
The dressing table didn't have a plug anywhere near it so we had to move it to be able to dry hair.
- andy (9/5): Good location nice place - Everything. Na
- Lorraine (9/5): -
- Wilson (8/5): -
- Jason (10/5): - Well decorated with everything you need, it was a home from home
- Martyn (9/5): - Interesting old building lots of character
Quiet location
- sam (10/5): Exceeded expectations! - Spaccious, clean & comfy. Lovely location. Would return & recommend.
- Louisa (10/5): - Peace and quiet , excellent facilities and decor. Very clean and perfect location. Dog friendly.
- Marta (10/5): - Everything
- Christian (9/5): -
- John (10/5): -
- Tracey (10/5): -
- Alice (10/5): We stayed a night after a wedding reception near by and had a very comfortable night. - Historical charm Nithing
- Alessia (10/5): Dove house - Style très élégant et cosy, tres propre. Un joli parc a jeux idéal pour les enfants
- Diane (8/5): - Breakfast not included hence not applicable.
All facilities available to prepare your own meals if you wanted to.
Very interesting building in a very peaceful location that felt safe and secure. Sat Nav and phone/internet connection to work better.
Not the fault of Dovehouse at all but did affect our stay.
I was aware when booking that the bedroom area had a very sloping ceiling but not being used to this or steep stairs we didn't like that. The conversion from previous use to holiday accommodation has been tastefully done and is well thought out and mostly comfortable.
- Hedy (7/5): Could have been exceptional but the property needs TLC with regard to the furnishings. - Location and Character of Property.
Extremely clean and milk, tea and coffee left by host This is for the 3 bedroom cottage.
The master bedroom was the worst bed I have ever slept on - The metal springs protruding through the mattress - Not acceptable - A new mattress is needed! Suggest the host trys it! Another customer mentioned it back in May and the mattress has not been changed since then.
Also the two sofas are really not good - Way too low!
- Mary (8/5): -
- Andy (10/5): Country escape, beautiful place - Beautiful as the pictures suggest. Friendly welcome. Peaceful and safe surroundings. The house has everything you'd want including a very welcome pint of milk in the fridge. Comfortable bed. Not much to not like but if I was being picky the TV was a little bit small for accommodation at this price. The position of the shower in the bathtub made it a little cramped. The bedroom is upstairs but it's just on another floor above the living room so not it's own fully private space as such, but still private enough. But really these were minor details amidst a truly lovely place where virtually everything you'd need was to be found.
- Zara (7/5): - Beautiful house. Absolutely stunning. The home it self was perfect and the surroundings countryman just Beautiful. Would be handy to have a stair gate to prevent dogs from going upstairs. Had to keep our puppy on a lead due to host request of dogs stayed downstairs.
- clair (10/5): Beautiful property had everything we needed , lovely clean and well designed , courtyard area was stunning . Friendly st - Beautiful location , the house had everything we needed , all of the rooms were beautifully ready for us to stay , clear instructions beautiful property , friendly staff on arrival with clear instructions , lovely pub not too far away and had a great local walk .
- joanne (6/5): Only stopped overnight - Location Did smell bit don’t know whether it’s because old place and furniture could do with an update
- Megan (9/5): -
- ken (9/5): Very good value for money lovely country side location - Lovely quiet location Just the bed under a sloping roof had to be a bit careful when on toilet duties
- Yang (10/5): Very satisfactory for my big family, although we arrived very late. We all love the cottage! Thanks. - Very satisfactory for my big family, although we arrived very late. We all love the cottage! Thanks.
- Mhairi (9/5): - Peaceful location
Beautifully furnished everything you need for a stay over. Would definitely stay again,☺️ Nothing
- Sue (10/5): A fabulous one night stay… last dog walk of the evening my full moon with no light pollution! - Fabulous location and accommodation No hot water in kitchen
- Samantha Marie (9/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): Beautiful house, well equipped, helpful host - It’s a beautiful characterful house, with lots of beams. We were at a wedding 3 miles away so the location was perfect for us. It was perfect
- Anna (9/5): Superb -
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rob (8/5): Very good -
- Trevor (8/5): Feels much more remote than it actually is! You'd never know you are so close to Birmingham. - The host met us at the property to hand over the keys. A lovely old building located within a private, secure courtyard. Plenty of places close-by to walk the dogs.
- Alison (9/5): Exactly what I wanted to break a long journey, many thanks - Beautiful period property, nicely renovated, all facilities great, dog friendly. Nothing to criticise
- Jody (9/5): Superb -
- Leonie (8/5): Very good -
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aaran (9/5): Superb -
- Nathan (8/5): Very good - Great space for a night away. Comfortable stay. Heat made upstairs very uncomfortable but the fan did help. TV didn't have signal for any channel.
- Horsepool (9/5): Superb -
- Nandika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Warwick (8/5): Very good -
- Wenda (10/5): Would definitely recommend this property and use again ourselves . use again if we came to the area. - Style of house and outside relaxation patio.
Shower excellent and plenty hot water. Nice gesture to have had fresh milk left in fridge for us and some bottled water. Great white towels too. Recommendations to use the Plough pub proved well worthwhile! Food lovely Double bed was rather hard and quilt rather too warm. If possible a lighter reserve one could be good.
- Alan (8/5): Good value, would stay again - The location and peaceful environment. Provision of USB charging sockets. Bed is a little uncomfortable
