• Lucy (1/5): Absolutely dreadful, avoid at all costs - Nothing, this was the most appalling place and the hosts were abhorrent. I’m not sure where to start, but Faulty Towers is a great comparison. This was a very expensive mistake indeed. This is absolutely nothing like ‘affordable luxury’ as described on the website. The place is so run down, filthy and dilapidated that I would highly recommend you avoid it. It’s called the ‘Chandler’s Nest’ but we weren’t expecting an actual wasp’s nest in the ceiling buzzing about above our heads, I kid you not! Opened the window and the rotten window sill and broken blind fell off! We got locked in our room on the last night due to cheap doors and had to get the owners out. We wished we had called the fire brigade instead, as when we very reasonably and politely complained about the state of the place we were gaslit, told to ‘f&£k off’ and threatened to be thrown out on the street despite me having just had heart surgery after a stroke. It made me sick to my stomach. Never have I experienced such viscous, rude and crooked hotel owners. The place was done up on the cheap with not nearly enough crockery, blunt knives and was mostly filthy and falling to bits. Dated, cheap interiors with no sound proofing, so expect lots of noise from other guests. Opened the fridge and it had black stuff and mouldy cheese from the last person. The livingroom, kitchen and bedroom had dust and cobwebs everywhere. I had to clean it thoroughly on arrival to feel comfortable. I have no idea how these people are getting away with this, but I really wouldn’t waste your hard-earned money, you’ll thoroughly regret it.
