Booked as a last minute
- Ian (1/5): Never been so disappointed - Unfortunately we didn’t get to stay. The host asked us to cancel through the Booking.com app as she advised this would be the best solution for getting our money back. Due to a supposed water leak?!
However, no payment was received and even after Booking.com tried contacting her. No reply from her.
Be very cautious if you are thinking of booking this property!!!! As written above 😡
- Dawn (8/5): Ironbridge - Quirky place plenty of room nice and cosy lovey bedroom at top We booked here for my sisters hen do it stated hottub so we booked it as my sister asked if she could stay somewhere with a hottub that was her only request but unfortunately there wasn't one we were told it was broken but prior to this we were told it would be fixed in plenty of time for our stay as we booked it well in advance only to be told they were waiting for a part from America we booked it last July ready for this February and in August were told it was being fixed when we got there there wasn't one at all so did put a dampener on the stay also states parking available there isn't parking for the one we stayed in only for the other houses ,in one bed there were false eyelashes in it ,all in all could really do with a bit of a make over it could be an absolutely stunning place otherwise it's a bit tired and dated stairs to upstairs bedroom are a bit awkward and wobbly also cable running under rug for the heater as you first come in ,we made the most of our stay though and there's a lovely little pub around the corner the black Swan does amazing food and ironbridge is beautiful
- Danielle (10/5): A home from home - The property is like a home from home, we have stayed here a number of times now and each time have loved it. lavender house is always our first choice. This stay we come to find the host had added a second double bed into the downstairs room, this was a fantastic upgrade to the property and made the stay a lot more comfortable. As a family of 5 adults and 3 children we would highly recommend lavender house if staying in the surrounding areas of ironbridge. The house is always well heated and cosy. Well furnished and well looked after.

- Tom (2/5): Scammers - This property was advertised as 2 holiday homes, with 2 bedrooms in each. We arrived around 7pm, to find out it was a single 2 bedroom property, which meant that we needed to find another property at short notice. I messaged the host the following morning regarding a refund for the second house, and have not had any response since.
- Debbie (5/5): Christmas Stay in Ironbridge. - Quirky cottage, unusual layout. Beautiful location. Car parking. The cottage was poorly equipped.
Had to buy tea, coffee, milk etc..
No dishwasher as listed, had to buy washing up liquid.
Poor kitchenware and crockery. Had to wash cups as dirty.
No central heating, had plug in heaters but downstairs bathroom very cold.
- Jessica (10/5): -
- Dani (10/5): Beautiful - The property is well looked after and maintained, the host is very good and keeps intouch
- Emma (3/5): Disappointed - Our stay here didn’t work out and we tried to contact the owner immediately to query but had to cancel through booking.com A bit confused on arrival which property it was. Parking was a bit awkward. The garden had strange furniture. The door was unlocked as we’d been advised. On entering, we found the downstairs bed unmade and we could hear someone upstairs (presumably in the living area) on the phone telling their friend they had just made dinner and were sitting down to eat. We called out but they didn’t hear us. We were a bit freaked out as we’d understood we had rented the whole property. Absolutely exhausted from a very long drive, we couldn’t get hold of the owner and it was getting late, so booking.com were very helpful and sorted it out and found us somewhere else to stay. To be fair the owner did eventually call us with an explanation but still didn’t understand why a relative was already staying there. Shame because it looked quite quirky.
- Paulette (8/5): Lovely stay! - Cute place, loved how it’s decorated. Easy check in. Perfect for our needs. Has a feel of a beach cabin. The beds were very comfortable. Clean enough. Had most of the facilities we needed for a comfortable stay. This place has so much potential. It is on the verge of being excellent only if…… Just a little bit of care will make this place exceptional. The place is not gross but you can tell the owner does not invest too much in its cleanliness. Cleanliness at the place is just acceptable and could be better. Also we were attending a Conference and mirrors in the rooms would also have been a nice touch.
- Lena (10/5): - Location is great, nextdoor to tile museum and quirky accommodation. Very clean and comfortable. We only stayed for one night but would recommend for a short family break. Nothing really
- Frances (8/5): -
- Chris (10/5): Great holiday home. - The location was a perfect. The house was cozy and brightly decorated. The furniture was practical and comfortable. Nothing.
- Terri (10/5): The Perfect Bank Holiday Escape - We had such a lovely stay! The host is a truly kind and considerate lady, and her communication was excellent, always quick to respond and very thoughtful. Everything about the property was comfortable and welcoming, and it was clear how much care she puts into making her guests feel at home.
The late checkout on a lazy bank holiday was such a beautiful gesture and made our stay feel even more relaxed and special. Little touches like that really set this host apart.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend staying here and will happily book again in the future.
- Mykhailo (10/5): - beautiful house
- Patricia (10/5): Lovely Lavender House - This is a delightful property and obviously very well cared for. Very clean and tidy with everything you would need for a pleasant stay.
We were 3 adults and 1 child (7yrs) with plenty of living/bedroom space.
Sadly, we could stay only one night for a family wedding in Ironbridge but all the facilities are provided at Lavender House for a longer stay.
Ideally situated for a visit to Ironbridge.
Mandy is a very helpful and friendly host who is easily contacted.
We recommend Lavender House highly.
Thank you.
- Emma-Rose (7/5): - Ideal location as was visiting family. The children slept comfortably and the place was a good size for the 6 of us. Host was polite and we thank them for letting us stay in their property. :) WiFi would not work. Property had a strange Oder downstairs. Wasn’t very clean (wee stains on loo seat, hairs attached to a used dish sponge and no clean one provided, dirty looking tea towel that smelt as well as some crockery). My partner stupidly put a brand new dress for our daughter in the wardrobe and I was never informed that we’d left it behind until he confessed to forgetting about days later - but would have been nice to have beeb informed by host so I could have paid for postage to get it back. :( - but appreciate the last comment is not on the host at all!
- Ishthefaque (10/5): A beautiful house in an amazing setting. - The host Mandy was such a welcoming and thoughtful host. She went beyond our expectations and made every effort to make our stay comfortable.
The accomodation is in a beautiful place and the interior certainly matches the setting. It was clean, quirky and full of surprises. The kids were fascinated by the imagination put in to creating this ambience.
I would definitely recommend families staying there as everything was just flawless.
Kudos to the the owner! Her attention to details is immense. Thank you Mandy for making my childrens holiday a memorable one.
- Dempster (8/5): Ironbridge Stay - Quirky as it goes and in a great position.
Great walks and stop offs en route😊
- Zoe (10/5): - Super place. Well equipped and very pretty and quirky place. The owner was exceptionally helpful with requests and when we had a problem with illness.
I recommend this for families and friends. Even the sofa was super comfortable, and all wonderfully quiet at night.
Location is perfect for exploring Ironbridge Gorge too! Nothing ☺️
- Shirley (8/5): -
- Renee (8/5): - Very quaint and English-there for 10 hours, home met our needs. Unable to explore the surroundings but a very pretty spot and quiet.
- Baghail (5/5): Overall very good just need to keep more attention to housekeeping - Everything okay except found packs of used condoms in one of the bedroom and even look alike Beddit was not changed on that bed either
- Hannah (10/5): Perfect a really enjoyable stay - We really enjoyed our stay the owner was above and beyond helpful to make sure we had a lovely stay will definitely be going back
- Wallington (7/5): Fishing trip - Perfect for a place to stay for us as we was fishing most of the time and with a private drive Overall the accommodation was acceptable but had a problem with 1 of the beds but was offered another room but we made do the stairs leading up to the bedroom above the kitchen wasn't very well built and probably could do with a upgrade the shower in the bathroom could do with making taller as had to crouch down to get under it and also quite warm buy there was a little aircon unit witch helped a little. apart from that very spacious with all the requirements you need for a couple nights away
- Christine (9/5): Beautiful, Quirky, Comfortable - This is a lovely converted old school house.
The host has refurbished the space beautifully with some really interesting old pieces of furniture.
We were a party of 4 adults and 4 children and there was plenty of room for us all.
The beds were very comfortable with extra mattresses and travel cot available.
It was clean and relaxing with all the facilities we needed.
I communicated with the host via text messages and she was very friendly and helpful.
I would definitely stay here again. There was nothing I didn't like about this holiday home.
- Jade (1/5): A disappointing experience — offered a refund, then denied, but the property has potential. - Great location and parking. We had high hopes for our stay at Lavender House. We had chosen Jackfield for a personal reason, and were really looking forward to the trip. Unfortunately, what should have been a special and memorable stay quickly turned into a stressful and disappointing experience.
When we arrived, we entered through the main gate and were immediately met with another open gate to the right, filled with discarded items — not the welcoming sight we expected. As advised, the front door was open, but the key that was supposed to be in it was missing. We contacted the host right away, and she responded promptly to say she was looking into it. We appreciated the quick reply and were still very much intending to stay at this point.
Sadly, the missing key turned out to be just the beginning.
We began to notice several issues throughout the property — primarily cleanliness and safety concerns — which made it completely unsuitable for us to stay. In the bathroom, the toilet bowl was stained, and the windowsill was covered in cobwebs and long-dead flies, suggesting it hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time. The downstairs bedroom had a stained carpet, dirty bedside tables (one with a red residue that looked alarmingly like blood), and the bedding had hairs and visible stains on the pillowcases.
The hallway had a chest of drawers filled with random odds and ends like screws and door knobs — more like a storage area than a guest space. The staircase going up had a broken handrail patched with duct tape, and long hairs and dust covered many of the steps. Upstairs, dust was
on surfaces, and the kitchen appliances — a kettle and microwave — had dried-on food stains.
The mezzanine staircase felt dangerously unstable and not at all safe, and the upstairs toilet, like the one below, was not clean. Altogether, the property felt unclean, unsafe, and not ready for guests.
It’s important to stress that this was not a decision we took lightly.
- John (6/5): Great locations for iron bridge and 15 mind drive from Telford - Great looking conversion on arrival, shabby chic inspired . Clear sign needed on gate, working door lock required, blinds for roof lights needed, good idea but needs finishing.
- Jo (6/5): Pleasant - The location near Ironbridge was excellent. It would be useful if the cottage had an inventory. There was insufficient cutlery for two guests let alone the advertised 6. Not enough wine glasses either. The staircase to the upper bedroom is wobbly and felt unsafe. There was a lot of clutter in draws and cupboards so limited space for our own stuff.
- Antony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rob (7/5): Good -
- Stewart (5/5): Quirky but needs finishing - Pros great location, lovely quirky decorating and comfy beds. We only stayed one night so cons didn't matter too much. Host was communicative and helpful before arrival. Cons doesn't appear to be fully finished, entrance not secure as gate broken, door knobs loose, loose screws all over the place, could not work the hob (and host unhelpful about this), need blinds in mezzanine bedroom as very light, oven dirty and needs more glassware and cutlery. Once this is all resolved, it would be really great. Listing is also unrealistic, there is no river view and nb it is not suitable for very small children due to open staircases.
- Karen (8/5): A lovely stay in a perfect location in a beautifully decorated house - Great location and owner very helpful
- Chukwuemeka (10/5): Would book here again. - Very accommodating hosting and beautiful property. Host was very friendly, instructions were clear and the house was fantastic. Everything was great for my stay. I have nothing bad to say.
- Nicky (6/5): Quirky place, nice decor, location good, could be made better with attention to detail. - Lovely location, great for exploring the area and enjoying the walks. Quirky, furnishings and decor good. Warm and cosy. Lovely shower. We booked as a group and wanted the open plan space to chat and cook together, which was perfect. Bedding and towels clean and fresh. Needs a little attention in some areas to ensure safety and privacy - steep staircase to top bedroom, some screws protruding and outside gate not secure and unable to shut. As another review has added, blinds needed for upstairs as very light for sleeping. Some surfaces and crockery needed a clean before use.
- Aiden (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rebecca (9/5): Charming, we would stay again - Charming property, warm and welcoming All good
- Lauren (10/5): We had an amazing time great location and lovely place to stay will definitely book again - Beautiful place, cute and quirky pictures don’t do it justice Nothing we didn’t like about it only tip we could give to improve would be blinds in the loft as gets quite light early morning
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional - Gorgeous place and lovely owners.
- Adelaide (10/5): Amanda was really helpful and has thought of everything to ensure you'll love Lavender House!! - WOW!! 5* So lucky to have found this lovely place, such a gem....shame our stay was only for one night! It was perfect! Amanda was really helpful and has thought of everything to ensure you'll love Lavender House!! Can't wait to visit again:)
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional - Amanda was very accommodating for our last minute stay with our dog. We checked in early and Amanda’s communication was good throughout. Will be returning.
- Isobel (10/5): Will definitely be coming back! - The location was perfect and such an amazing building and set up very nicely! If I didn’t take videos of the whole place I’d put better photos in, absolutely will be coming back! Nothing
- John (7/5): Cosy and value for money - Cosy. Spacious. Nice bedrooms Steep staircase to upper bedroom
- Katie (9/5): Superb - Lovely house. Loved all its quirks. Would definitely stay again. Host was amazing ensured we had everything we needed.
- Donna (8/5): Lavender House - Beautiful quirky little apartment. Very different and really enjoyed the personal touches around the apartment. Found the loft bedroom a bit difficult to manage in the night when needed the loo. So it may not be for everyone but it was so pretty it did outweigh the difficult stairs in the night.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
