Guest Reviews
Schade.
- Massimo (10/5): Excellent place, very professional staff - Excellent place, very professional staff, quiet and very beautiful. -
- Christoph (10/5): - Da gibts nichts zu meckern

- Sabrina (10/5): Best hospitality experience in Siargao - The team was amazing to start with ! From the moment we stepped in to Kalinaw Resort everything was perfect ! The team was super helpful, the villa itself is beautiful, the private pool and private patio so comfortable. We stayed 2 weeks in Siargao and wanted to finish with the best accommodation and this was definitely the cherry on the cake. That I couldn’t stay longer!
- Maria (10/5): Perfecto - Personal muy atento y cariñoso. Bonita instalación, bonita vista. Piezas amplias y limpias. Desayuno y comidas estupendos. Inmejorable. Es perfecto. Jude muy atenta...
- Dan (9/5): Peaceful and private - The room was nice. The pool was good size. Staff was attentive and helpful. I didn't have any issues with the iPad or electricity like I saw on some reviews. They responded quickly usually, and the 1 or 2 times power went out, the generator came on almost instantly. Wifi worked well. All food sent to the room to sit by the pool and eat privately. It was a very easy and quick ride into the city, while being far enough to be quiet and peaceful and private. I think it's a great option for couples looking for privacy while still being near to everything. The main thing was just the food. Nothing was bad, it just was limited to mainly pasta/bread without many meat choices and variety. And it was overall average while being 3x the price of food from town. Beyond that, I'd just note some aspects of the booking process to be aware of. You handle payment off-site on PayPal, which seems sketchy, but was legitimate. I'd recommend they use the build in payment option. You'll get a PayPal fee you dont expect doing it externally and paying as a business payment. And during all of that, communication was very scattered and slow. It became good after arrival though. Last I would note all the policies provided after booking. For me it wasn't a big problem, but they have many restrictions and costs involving guests and their pool use as well as a corkage policy. So you cant have outside food. Id recommend they just improve the food menu and flavors to encourage more sales rather than implement this policy. Even without the policy I'd still order food there for the convenience, despite the price. I mentioned this to them, but the description mentions a sitting room and that's not available in the basic villa. I didn't need an extra room so it didn't bother me, but FYI. The upgraded villas have additional rooms. Theres a deluxe villa, a suite, and 4 standard villas. Oh, and they cant really do much at this point, but I would have designed the entrance to be separate from the bedroom. Youre very exposed to everything outside unless you keep the curtains closed all the time. The entire wall is glass so if the bathroom door isn't closed and the curtains arent shut, the world can see you. You have the nice view of the pool and the ocean though when the curtains are open. No beach, but you have the view. And a short trip to a real beach. Even on foot within - 15-20min walk.

- Marcmb1994 (9/5): Estada molt agradable - El personal és increïblement amable i servicial.
- Gili (10/5): PERFECT! - AMAZING for couple! Best resort I have ever been! Super clean, the best food, service and villa! Nothing!!!!!! Everting was perfect!
- Jose Cuenca (10/5): -
- Ruth Grace (9/5): We enjoyed our stay. It was very relaxing. - It was very peaceful and quite. No body lotion in the villa
- Zane (9/5): Beautiful villa beautiful location - Villa’s beautiful set out. Perfect for a family or friends group Wifi wasn’t great but think it was a power issue
- Joanna (10/5): Always a great stay and staff are amazing. Can’t wait to return on our annual trip. - This 2nd time we have stayed at the resort it’s centrally located for a surf to either harana resort surf beach and cloud 9. Also not far from General Luna.
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joyce (10/5): Truly Luxurious Accommodation in Siargao - This resort truly lived up to our expectations.
- Charles (10/5): Great! - A wonderful hotel all around. None
- Dean (10/5): Gorgeous property that will take your breath away. - This property is truly something special. The service is superb, the villas gorgeous, and the food excellent. Probably seems expensive for some, but worth every penny.
- Hany (1/5): Bad -
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alyssa (9/5): Superb - We had an amazing time at this resort, which was the ideal choice for our honeymoon. The property is incredibly private, offering the perfect escape for couples looking for a peaceful and intimate experience. The atmosphere was calm, relaxing, and exactly what we needed to unwind and celebrate. Everything from the accommodations to the service was top-notch.
The breakfast was delicious, though it would have been great to have a bit more variety, especially with traditional Filipino breakfast options, rather than having the same items each day. Still, it was a lovely start to the day!
Highly recommend this resort for anyone looking for a romantic and secluded retreat!
- Valérii (9/5): Superb - For the price, I would expect the restaurant to be open (I know it’s in the process), as well as a shared gym of some sort.
- Mariafranca (8/5): Very good - Location, room and girls at the reception. Must improve on the food service!!
I’ve been served super cold (still frozen inside) tortellini pasta TWICE (I gave it back and didn’t eat); If they want to offer european food at european prices, they need to train their kitchen crew properly.
Really disappointing to not check the temperature on something that was already sent back once because of being frozen cold .
Also , a small suggestion : old school business teaches that if you made a mistake with a client, specially 2 times, you should show some appreciation and maybe offer something ?? Like a dessert ? A glass of something ? A discount on the dinner bill ?! You know … just common sense!
- Mary (10/5): The best resort in the world! Incredible!! - Everything Nothing
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Johanna (10/5): Beautiful Hotel - Very nice hotel the whole staff is very nice and the place is a paradise
- Azaria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christian (2/5): Stay away the next few momths - The villas are ok, but not private at all. Staff is rude and the worst part is that 3 constructions surround the villas. Means you should stay away the next few months from it. Constructions!
- Alice (10/5): Incredible. The staff looked after us so well - Stunning, clean, luxurious Construction work near by
- R (10/5): The Perfect Escape - Some places just get it right, and this one? Nailed it. A private villa that felt brand new—spacious, modern, spotlessly clean. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, the bathroom? Big enough to throw a party in. And the design? Spot-on, no over-the-top frills, just simple, thoughtful luxury.
Then there’s the pool—a private infinity pool right outside your door. Picture this: quiet, save for the occasional tuk-tuk horn in the distance, views that stop you in your tracks, and that sweet, rare kind of privacy. Exactly what you need to remind yourself to breathe, to let the world drift away.
And let me tell you about the food. Room service, ordered with a swipe on an iPad, delivered to your poolside table like magic. Minutes later, there you are, sipping something cold and diving into whatever masterpiece the kitchen whipped up.
This place wasn’t just a stay; it was a reset. The kind of spot you daydream about long after you’ve packed your bags. Yeah, I’ll be back. No question Let’s talk about the refund policy—because, frankly, it’s a bit of a head-scratcher. I missed the first night thanks to an airport closure, and for a while, it looked like I’d miss the whole trip. So I reached out about rebooking, and the response? Confusing at best, absurd at worst.
They said you could rebook for weather or airport closures if you did it 60 days in advance. Sixty days. For weather. Now, unless you’ve got a crystal ball that tells you when the skies are going to throw a tantrum, this makes zero sense. None.
Here’s the kicker: it’s all cash up front. No flexibility, no refunds if the airport shuts down, no matter the reason. Translation? You’re rolling the dice. And unless you’re feeling lucky, trip insurance is a must. I’m not one to spring for it, but for this place? Yeah, I’d recommend it.
Thankfully, the travel gods smiled on us, and we managed to make it the next day. I was only out one night’s cost, but still—it left a sour taste. A word to the wise: read the fine print. Twice.
- Joanne (10/5): Kalinaw Resort is a nice place for family vacation - Feels like home away from home. Beach is little bit far from the property
- Glenister (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Absolutely exceeded expectations - absolutely exceeded expectations. 5 star property and staff. Hotel service were reasonably priced as opposed to normal hotel 500% markup. It was like they were proud of their offerings and wanted us to use them.
Really enjoyed my stay this is not a fully developed island, which i happen to like very much - but it means things like power and water may temporarily go offline across the island. Staff is always quick to respond.
- Lucy (8/5): Very good -
- Lynda (10/5): Gorgeous villa for a special break - The villas are perfect! High level of service and great breakfast every morning. The grounds are spotless and gorgeous
Stay here if you can At this price point the drinks in thee fridge should be included- no big deal just seemed strange
- Ivy (9/5): Superb -
- Dennis (10/5): We were pampered, cared for. The staff always went above and beyond on regard to every detail. - The breakfast was always exceptional. The whole experience was beyond our expectations
- Bill (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mello (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jan (9/5): Nice - Very nice property, better that at the photos N/a
- Jennie (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent food on demand, attentive and helpful staff, easy to organise trips and activities
- Jorge (7/5): the hotel has its merits, there are notable areas that require improvement, particularly in communication and addressing - Recently stayed at this hotel, and overall, it was a mixed experience. On the positive side, the hotel is new, offering a fresh ambiance, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Several aspects left much to be desired. The use of a tablet for restaurant orders and requests proved inconvenient due to unreliable Wi-Fi, forcing us to walk to reception for assistance. On one occasion, the lack of hot water went unnoticed as the tablet was out of service, and the issue persisted until the following day.
While the room's pool was aesthetically pleasing, its cold temperature rendered it impractical, suggesting a need for heating. Surprisingly, simple requests were denied without clear explanations. For instance, we requested a breakfast plate with only mango, a seemingly straightforward request, which was unexpectedly declined. Similarly, when asking for chicken nuggets listed on the menu, we were told they were only available for children, leaving us puzzled as to why a straightforward menu item couldn't be served to an adult.
This raised concerns about the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction, as seemingly simple requests were turned down without reasonable justification.
- Jordan (10/5): An amazing experience from start to finish! Highly recommend Kalinaw and all the team! - The entire experience from booking to drop off at the airport was exceptional. Communication was fantastic during the whole process from organising transfers from the airport to ordering any meal during the day. The staff are amazing, a massive shout out to Jude! Absolutely lovely lady that welcomed us as soon as we stepped off the bus, helped us with anything that could make our stay even the tiniest little bit better.
They have a great tablet system set up when it comes to ordering breakfast, lunch and dinner, any tours that you would like to do around the island or even hiring any bikes, vehicles. They have all this on the tablet which has been presented perfectly.
The villas are very modern, very clean and are in perfect working order. It is the definition of the perfect luxury beachfront villa which is also very close to General Luna, Cloud 9 and all the restaurants/clubs you could need.
Overall, one of the best places I have booked with and we will be back for sure!
- Stephen (10/5): Best resort on the island A++++++ - The service and the location is probably one of the best on the island. You get a full service, breakfast and daily housekeeping which is very detail oriented. Each individual villa is beautifully crafted with some of the best architecture on the island with a private pool that you're able to swim in at any time of the day with your own privacy Everything was pretty much perfect so there's not really much to criticize. I think the door handles were a little bit sharp and harder to open at times because the handle was a bit rigid. Sliced my finger on it by chance. And then there is the natural mosquitoes but that's nothing against the resort but just typical island circumstances
- Milena (10/5): Just amazing - The whole villa with own pool is just amazing, there is enough space, the bathroom is huge. The breakfast is served directly to the terrace, the staff is just so nice and very polite. There is nothing I did not like, but maybe a van in the terrace area would be great :-)
- Heewan (10/5): Exceptional - My husband and I stayed at Kalinaw for 4 nights.
Kalinaw only recently reopened, the villa was HUGE/MASSIVE with a private pool. There were couple other villas still under construction next to ours however the resort staff were aware of this and accomodating for this minor inconvenience. Our only criticism for the room is a patchy wi-fi and pillows were too soft for us.
Staff were very attentive and friendly, breakfasts were all very good, the cocktails (in particular, fresh coco shake with rum and banana daiquiri) were fantastic, and Chablis with cheese platter and croque monsieur was great too. We had a steak and a rabbit for dinner, which were good but the steak was somewhat small and the rabbit was a little salty for me - but again, overall, food was great and very well priced.
Staff were very helpful organising a scooter rental and massage as well as complimentary yoga mats. We had massages twice during our stay, once in outdoor area and once in our room!
The infinity pool was fantastic, we enjoyed the morning/afternoon/evening dips every single time we get a chance. The surrounding garden space was very tropical and beautiful as well.
The communication with the reception and the restaurants are all via ipad messenger, and the responses were timely.
There is no actual beach front, the villa stands out onto a retaining wall on to the waterfront.
Villa is located about 900m from Cloud 9 (15mins walk), about 2.5km from central town (5mins scooter) and less than 3 mins walking distance from a new restaurant “Roots”.
Overall, we had a good relaxing time and we highly recommend the Kalinaw for your luxury stay in Siargao! Pillows and no actual beach front.
- Rob (8/5): Very good - Location and view Breakfast for children, you need to include pancakes
Fan at the deck, too hot
- Edora (10/5): Phenomenal birthday trip for my husbands birthday we both loved it - The staff were very friendly and extra my accommodating - loved the experience very exclusive Nothing
- Farzana (9/5): Superb -
- Eva (10/5): Absolutely exceptional - Had an absolute magical stay at Kalinaw resort, the staff is amazing very helpful and nice. They helped us organizing all of our stay and booked activities so we can enjoy fully. The breakfast and the food in general is probably the best we had during our whole stay in Siargao. The place is so quiet and there’s such a peaceful atmosphere during sunset, it is just precious , each villa is super private with a beautiful swimming pool overlooking the ocean. Highlight of our trip in the Philippines
- Solomon (1/5): Awful - Nothing The property is located in the middle of 3 construction sites, one of these construction sites is within the resort.
Throughout your stay you will be subjected to noise from hammering, sawing and sanding. These noises resonate throughout the entire resort, in particular Villa 2 is subjected to sanding and hammering noises from the construction on the property.
Management were entirely unsympathetic when I complained about the noises, they turn a blind eye to it and expect you to also, entirely unacceptable.
I checked out 2 hours into my 6 day booking. Most infuriating was management’s refusal to refund my money, I will now have to pursue a refund with my payment handler.
- Alexandra (10/5): Our time in Kalinaw Resort was nothing short of excellent. The villa was our little oasis. The staff was accommodating, - We were pleasantly surprised to see a more updated and refurbished villa that was better than the photos in booking.com
The private pool was our favorite feature. Although, the rest of the villa was beautiful, polished, clean and 5 ⭐️ There is an android tablet which allows you to communicate directly to the reception and restaurant…it took us a while to get used to it, but, it didn’t ruin our experience in the slightest. Maybe a little crash course during the room tour was needed as we weren’t familiar with android.
- Nuno (10/5): Exceptional - the Vilas are really spectacular and spacious. the private pool is big and very enjoyable. the staff and food was also perfect. the beach in front is not good for swimming, all rocky.
