Guest Reviews
- Suzanne (9/5): Really good value for money and would be perfect if the cleaning was to a better standard. - Lovely quirky cottage Cleaning was not to a great standard. Under furniture had not been cleaned for a long time. Seen because we had a dog with us that hides chews!
I was happy to hoover these area myself but the hoover was full to the brim and no spare bags.
Outside courtyard needed cleaning which we did and hubby cleared the soak away.

- Nicholls (7/5): - Location was great and great character with view across the bay Master bed very uncomfortable needs updating, maybe divan with a better matress

- Jacqueline (8/5): - Location good just around the corner from great old pub with great food and entertainment - Shanty Festival! We were able to park in unused pub carpark next door which was lucky. Parking a little tricky on busy weekends.
- Eva (9/5): Cute seaside cottage - This is a lovely quaint cottage in a sleepy Devon seaside village. Check in was self check in and directions were excellent.
The facilities were comprehensive everything you need for your stay and Nick left us a pint of milk and some delicious biscuits.
Central heating worked well and you could set the timer and thermostat.
Very quiet location with lovely walks nearby and the property is dog friendly with a small enclosed yard.
The price was unbeatable for three adults and 2 puppies. I hate to say anything negative about the property as it was such excellent value for money however the key box was very difficult to open and the cleaning wasn't thorough e.g. when moving the pouffe from beneath the TV the floor was thick with dust and an old battery. There were sweetie wrappers under the bed and sofas and the tiling in the bathroom could do with some mould and mildew remover. There was also mildew on the bottom of the living room curtains. Not deal breakers for the price but should be noted.
Also please note that both beds have footboards if you are tall and the winding steep stairs are gloss painted so very slippery.
Please don't let this put you off booking here just be aware.

- Wayne (10/5): Brilliant place to stay - Absolutely amazing cottage with all facilities and really clean. The original character has been preserved but has been carefully modernised. Great quiet location just off the harbour with the "Anchor Inn" pub around the corner which serves a range of good beers and quality food (dog friendly as well).
Both the train to Exeter and ferry to Exmouth are just 15mins walk so getting to the major towns is relatively easy.
Dawlish spit is also about 15mins walk and a good place to walk the dog and take in the magnificent views.
Great place to stay and will probably come back in 2026 Nothing to dislike
- Emily (10/5): A gorgeous cosy cottage, in a peaceful location but close to lots of places of interest. I would definitely stay here ag - I loved the cottage it is in a great location, it’s quaint and cozy and well equipped. A really lovely relaxing place to stay. I liked all of it

- Hannah (8/5): Lovely break away, nice sea air and walks with the dog and children. Lots to do as well as travel to reach things to do. - The property was very clean, had lovely bedding and towels. Lovely welcome gift which was very welcomed by the children, there was a cupboard of games which helped on the rainy day we had. Very easy to get to things, pub just round the corner which had amazing food (pricey though) and a short walk to get the train, lovely walks with the dog also. The mattress in the main room was far too soft, and I know this is a personal thing but I didn’t get a proper sleep due to this. My partner slept fine like I said this is a personal thing. There was also a property viewing whilst we were staying there, which we found out about the night before, we tried to be as accommodating as possible but it meant changing plans for the morning.
- Karen (8/5): Great stay with our Grandkids - Great location in peaceful neighborhood Could have done with a salad bowl and an egg flip but this is a minor issue really. Just a suggestion

- Carol (10/5): Calm, Peaceful & Cosy - The cottage was lovely and cozy, warm and homely. Set up a little side street it was very peaceful. A Lovely pub, 100yrds away with Great Food, and easy walking along the coast path. Powderham Castle very close by. Nothing to dislike,
- Helen (10/5): Would definitely book this cottage again. - Lovely cottage - well equipped and host left goodies to welcome us. Had a fabulous stay. The double bed needs a new mattress.

- Charlotte (9/5): Fantastic bolt hole to relax in peaceful comfort and surroundings, ready to explore Devon - Beautiful, old, quaint little cottage, with a lovely old pub, The Anchor Inn, two minutes walk away, right on the harbour, with beautiful food, gorgeous views and lovely walks nearby. The cottage had everything we needed for it to feel like a home from home at an absolute steal for a summertime property. Felt like we’d gone back in time. If you’re up for a walk to the beach or a bit of seaside nostalgia, Dawlish is easy to get to, by foot, and Starcross too, with Starcross train station just a short drive or walk if you’re up for a stretch, to head to Exeter on the train. The cottage is a fantastic bolt hole from which to explore a lot of Devon. We did try to put the Tv on once. The signal was awful thank goodness so to be honest, we packed so much into a 5 day stay, the Tv was the least of our priorities! In the morning, heading outside with a coffee onto the old hill and looking over the rooftops of other cottages, watching the sun rise is a joy. In the evening, a walk down to the harbour with all the lights across the estuary to Exmouth and a pint in the pub is a must. The cottage is clean but needs a good deep clean. Not awful to stay in by any means, just a bit more attention to detail to level it up a bit. It’s an old cottage that’s seen a lot in its history, stormy sea weather, so expect the odd old damp smell, uneven floors. I can’t say I DIDNT LIKE it, as it’s what I’d expect in a centuries old building by the sea.
