Guest Reviews
- Olena (10/5): - A truly magical house with a wonderful personal touch from its lovely hosts. Unforgettable none
- Sarah (10/5): A perfect weekend getaway - Hosts were extremely welcoming, friendly and had a great sense of humour. Paul and Alan went above and beyond. Private entrance to room, wine on arrival and a night cap welcoming back after our day in Rye. Views amazing, decor beautiful and breakfast superb. A really lovely stay celebrating my partners 60th Birthday. There was nothing to fault.
- Jack (9/5): Beautiful, clean, modern, friendly staff stay - Everything was superb The only fowl side was the ventilation of the room
- malcolm (10/5): Exceptional; surprising; different! - The warmth of the greeting on arrival and the overall friendliness of our hosts. It felt more like a 'home' than a 'house' (or 'hotel')!
- Karen (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Bliss2 - Everything! Nothing
- Ross (8/5): We coudln't have been better looked after in Alan and Pauls beautiful home X - Super comfy bed, wonderful accommodating and entertaining hosts, first class breakfast made to order, beautiful grounds and view of Camber and a short walk in to Rye Saltcote Place is a wonderful experience but not a hotel in the traditional sense. No restuarant or bar/lounge etc. The whole experience from arrival through to breakfast and departure is much like being a guest in someones home (which you are). If you are up for a chatty sociable experience it's loads of fun but if you are looking for an intimate getaway then it might not be for you. We loved hanging out with both Paul and Alan but thought it might be worth noting as we did think it was a hotel when we booked.
- Josephine (9/5): Loved it, would visit again. - Beautiful building, comfortable room, excellent breakfast.
- Suzy (10/5): Beautiful and relaxing stay - We had the most wonderful stay at Saltcote Place. The house and grounds are beautiful with so much character. The rooms are so tastefully decorated and nothing is too much trouble for Paul and Alan. They are wonderful hosts and Alan’s breakfasts are exquisite! An absolute treat to stay for a few days. Nothing!
- Joseph (10/5): Felt very spoilt. - Everything was perfect. The hosts made our stay so special, and nothing was too much trouble.
We could walk to Rye and also enjoyed the walk to Camber.
- Jenkins (9/5): Superb - Great location, lovely place with friendly hosts and personal touches that made stay special Firmer pillows!
- 矢野 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lynne (10/5): Paul and Alan were fantastic hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was cooked and presented beautifully with - Absolutely beautiful house in a great location within easy walking distance of the centre of Rye. We liked everything!
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guy (10/5): The place to stay in Rye - The hosting couple gives you a warm and welcome feeling from the first second till you leave.
Everything in the house and surrounding the house is perfectly matching. You feel like you’re the king in a castle.
- Ian (10/5): Heavenly - This place is amazing. Not a hotel or B&B, but a large elegant family home where you are made as welcome as it is possible to feel. First impression was excellent and everything got even better from there on! I’ve never been so sad to leave anywhere. We feel we have made new friends There is absolutely nothing to not like. If I was being really picky, maybe the (short) hill back from town could be just a little less steep
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - The property was delightful and perfect for our minimoon. Paul and Alan were fabulous hosts and breakfast was fantastic. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a long weekend away, and a short walk in to Rye is ideal.
- Stuart (10/5): Wonderful B&B 5*+ - Paul and Alan were extremely helpful and superb hosts Nothing, everything was spot on
- David (10/5): Exceptional - The attention to detail, the views, the location, the hosts, the room, the amazing breakfast, the night cap, the quiet surroundings, and only a short walk into Rye town. We will be going back in July 2025⁵ There wasn't anything to dislike about this place five star *****
- Gary (10/5): One of the best short stay experiences you will get in the UK. - From the moment you approach the property on the route in you feel special. Huge Iron gates with the most beautiful building beyond them in impeccable condition. The best thing about the property is its owners Paul and Alan. They are simply total experts and go well beyond anything you would expect. They are kind, caring and their attention to detail is clear in everything they do. From the initial brief to saying goodbye. It’s not just a stay it is an experience. Nothing we didn’t like. There are something about it that makes you feel special and exclusive.
- Sally (10/5): The perfect indulgent break in gorgeous setting. - We were taking a break with my 91 year old mother in law. The accommodation and attention given made it the perfect choice.
Superbly comfortable, luxurious yet homely. Everything was fabulous.
- Sandra (10/5): Charming property great location fantastic hosts lovely finishing touches everywhere, relaxing and peaceful. - Beautiful manor lovingly kept, Location spot on for a short walk into Rye. Peaceful pretty grounds with lovely views. Nothing
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chui (10/5): We felt we were treated as friends visiting for an amazing weekend instead of just guests staying at a highly rated plac - This is a beautiful house with a wonderful view and garden lovingly taken care of by the owners.
- Martin (10/5): Wonderful - The hosts ….warm and friendly from the moment we arrived …oh and the best breakfasts we have ever had
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts made it even more special. The grounds are beautiful and views. Really is a special place. The breakfast is magnificent. If your looking for peace and quiet this is definitely the place to stay. The history of saltcote makes it very unique. I know after staying here Alan and Paul the owners I feel we have made great friends and thank you for letting us stay at this fabulous place.
- Nimalka (10/5): Relaxing and enjoyably - Location to town, comfortable and great welcome and hosts who made the visit memorable. Nothing
- Cliff (9/5): Fabulous house, fabulous hosts, fabulous location in fact a rather fabulous stay actually. - Saltcote Place is set in an amazing elevated location overlooking the salt marshes that extend out to Camber Sands. The Queen Anne style house is imposing, and, filled with antiques collected by the current hosts Paul and Alan over their 20-year ownership period. Breakfast is an occasion and attention to quality detail is superb. But the piece de resistance are the hosts, attentive, entertaining and nothing is too much trouble. Our room was comfortable, immaculately clean and well stocked with a lovely touch each evening, a whisky nightcap left outside the room. However, it’s the hosts that steal the show, Paul and Alan you rock! Silencer’s on one or two of the resident avians wouldn’t go amiss😂😂😂
- Philip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shirley (10/5): The best !!! So personal & relaxed - All I can say is WOW!! The whole experience at saltcote place was amazing, fantastic hosts, fantastic room, fantastic breakfast 10 out of 10
- Raphaelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clare (10/5): Paul and Alan couldn’t have been better hosts. - A beautiful, majestic house set in fabulous grounds Nothing!!
- Clive (10/5): Excellent short stay in Rye. - The breakfast choice was very wide and all options were excellent and beautifully presented. Fresh fruit, a variety of egg and full breakfast options were available as well as juice and barista coffee. Paul and Alan are both excellent hosts and we were made to feel very much at home. The location is superb and we were delighted with the building and grounds. Very convenient for Rye and offering superb views of the surrounding countryside. Can't think of anything to improve.
- Parker (8/5): Very good -
- Joanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (10/5): our stay was memorable, happy and did us the world of good. - I liked the warm welcome on arrival. Very personal, friendly and helpful. We had excellent directions to the house and found it without problems. Parking was easy. The personal touches throughout our stay made it so memorable. Breakfast was prepared with exceptional care and was delicious. Utterly wonderful stay and so many happy memories. Not being able to stay longer!!
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Leaving
- Gillian (10/5): Totally amazing so memorable ❤️ - Saltcote place is absolutely stunning . The location is spectacular we couldn’t have wished for a more perfect setting for our 30th wedding anniversary. Alain and Paul are the most wonderful hosts , warm caring and attentive. We were very sressed as we had been let down by The Lookout and booking. com , who unbeknownst to us had cancelled our carefully planned stay . Paul called me straight away as aI booked one route to Rye . he was true to his word greeted us with a drink and made our potentially ruined trip into the most relaxed and memorable stay. thank you both you are lovely lovely people . nothing ! it’s absolutely wonderful
- Denise (10/5): Exceptional - Personal professional service at breakfast was amazing, so much choice all created with love.
Night cap a nice touch.
Paul and Alan made our stay perfect from start to finish. Nothing to dislike!
- Francis (10/5): The extra mile is a serious understatement... - Fabulous house on a grand scale. Utterly charming, friendly and conversational people for whom absolutely nothing was too much trouble - so very kind. Magnificent breakfasts (and more or less infinite choice). Small but indicative touches included umbrellas in a stand outside the room, bottled mineral water, complimentary chocolates, offer for us to leave our car where it was, between check-out and actual departure from the locale. Quiet at night, comfortable bed, large television in the room, the warmest of welcomes. One in a million. We liked absolutely everything!
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional, we had the most fantastic weekend, with the most fantastic hosts. - Beautifully presented, spotlessly clean, fantastic location Nothing, you cannot fault this beautiful place
- Hayden (10/5): Exceptional - Every aspect of our stay was perfect from start to finish. Attentive hosts that also respected our privacy. Good all round service that went over and above our expectations. Would highly recommend. Leaving this beautiful accommodation.
- Steven (10/5): Paul and Alan are wonderful hosts and made us feel part of the family. The breakfasts are very special! - Lovely location and beautifully furnished. The gardens and vies are stunning.
- Stephan (10/5): Out of this world! - Breakfast was superb. The suite was just fabulous. Our hosts were exceptional and very welcoming. I think it is without doubt the best weekend away I have ever had. Nothing could have been improved except maybe our length of stay.
- Peter (10/5): superb, we had a fantastic stay, Alan and Paul are great hosts, highly recommended - Beautiful stay, fabulous hosts and the best of breakfast nothing
