Guest Reviews
- Alfonso (10/5): Very nice - Super nice
- Evelyn (5/5): -

Immer wieder gerne!!
- A (10/5): Zeer tevreden - Locatie erg goed leuke plaats kleine straatjes

- mary (9/5): To be in this town and in this hotel that go way back in history is quite an experience! - It was amazing to be in a hotel that was built 500 years ago! It was great! The bathroom has been updated and was very comfortable. It is within the walls of Rothenburg so the location is excellent. The food was excellent, and the staff was delightful and very helpful. The key to the room was a little tricky to work.
There isn't an elevator so carrying luggage was a little challenging but expected in this ancient hotel. It was well worth it!
- Timothy (8/5): Nice time in Rothenburg - Check-in was smooth, just make sure you have your reservation number handy, because you’ll need it for the automatic key dispenser.
Breakfast was very good, but it’s at a different hotel, about a 5 minute walk away. The hotel and room were very clean and well kept, and the location is excellent, maybe 10 minutes from the Marktplatz. Two flights of steep, small stairs were a challenge navigating with luggage.
- Guest (9/5): - The room was very comfortable and close to the Markplatz and all the wonderful areas to see in town. Self registration was a little confusing and this was partly my fault - I had somehow deleted my email with the confirmation information,b ut did finally find a paper copy. It was late at night and raining, so a bit confusing.

- Helen (7/5): Goed bevallen. - De Lokatie en het ontbijt. Geen airco, erg warme kamer.
- Kirsten (10/5): Exceeded our expectations! - I can’t speak highly enough of this place! Its central location and authentic charm made for a perfect stay. Nothing
- Morten (10/5): -
Veldig fascinerende. Ikke nytt og trendy, men autentisk. God frokost i nabohotellet.
- Anonymous (10/5): Highly recommend!! - We loved this hotel. It was conveniently located within the city walls. Breakfast was lovely and Mike was delightful. He was very helpful when we had some travel issues.
- Carley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dan (5/5): Passable -
- Elizabeth (8/5): We would come back but bring our own pillows. - The bed was comfortable but the pillows were the worst pillows of 40 years of hotels and rentals. Absolutely horrible! Flat flat flat. Nothing but air. I finally took a pair of my husband's jeans, rolled them up and used them for a pillow. We have stayed in many Deutsch hotels with good pillows not here! The bathroom was fine - we had room 10. Breakfast was fine - not over the top but fine. We would stay again and bring our own pillows! Pillows! HORRIBLE!
- Jackie (10/5): Love Hotel Spitzweg and will stay again! - We have stayed many times. This is the first stay as self service. The standards of the hotel have been maintained. Walking a short bit for breakfast was not a problem. The staff at Hotel Breiterle were delightful!!! Our travel group looked forward to chatting with staff every morning. Nothing
- Kenneth (8/5): Beautiful Hotel in a Beautiful Town - Spitzweg is a beautiful old hotel with comfortable beds etc. The hotel is ideally located within the walls and very close to the central marketplace. There is no longer parking or breakfasts at the Hotel Spitzweg. We ate a very good breakfast and paid for parking at Hotel Zum Breitle. Mike the owner and his family and staff are very friendly and accommodating at Zum Breitle. The internet was extremely weak at Spitzweg - had to go downstairs to get connected.
- Susan (9/5): Superb - Location & breakfast were very good. The hotel decor was stellar. An old building with open beams, tapestries & period furnishings. Our room was on the 3rd floor & there is no elevator and no one at the desk to assist with luggage,. Problematic for me because I am mobility impaired.
- Adrian (8/5): Very good - The fact that there is no staff is very strange.
Also you have to walk outside for breakfast
- John (3/5): A terrible experience and an inferior property. - Short walk to the center of Rothenburg. Many issues:
- room wasn’t clean - dirty glasses half full of water
- check in process terrible - limited instructions on how to obtain key - front desk never staffed
- breakfast included but a two block walk at a sister hotel with limited seating
- no shampoo for shower - just plastic packages of multi purpose soap - really?
- mismatched towels in bathroom
- no parking at premises and when I asked where I could park the answer was essentially “good luck” - no help
Don’t stay here. Way better options I. Town.
- Peter (7/5): Good -
- Philip (9/5): Superb -
- Jon (3/5): Poor -
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean, convenient, wonderful property. Amazing location.
- Melissa (10/5): Great stay and lovely hotel. -
- Daan (8/5): Very good - Location was great, the automated check-in worked fine and breakfast was great. Especially the host of the breakfast was awesome. The bed and pillow were a bit uncomfortable. There is a vent to cool down, but didn't really do the trick becausr it was warm outside.
- James (9/5): We have never been simply 'guests' but returning friends. - We have visited Rothenberg ob der Tauber altstadt (old city) 3 times over the past 20 years. After the 1st stay, we have not even searched for a hotel. Admittedly, the biggest asset, the host, has died and the hotel is now run by relatives. There are mementos of this wonderful man in the lobby, including his favorite vest laid over a railing. The host would introduce guests to each other at breakfast and start conversations. Breakfast is no longer served at Hotel Spitzweg. Guests go to the sister hotel a block away. While the food and service is still wonderful, I miss the charm of meeting new people. And to be honest, Hotel Spitzweg is vertical with no lift. As we have aged, climbing the stairs to our room after a day of exploration has become harder.
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tim (8/5): Very good - The decor was beautiful and clean. The location was pretty good, just a short walk to get to the center of town. There is off-street parking which was so awesome! No staff! I was there for an entire day and did not see a single staff person. If I had questions, I would have to use the booking.com app or call a cell phone number. It all worked out for me but I would have loved to meet those running the place. Also, no breakfast at the facility. We had to walk 2 or 3 blocks away to another hotel for the included breakfast service.
- Michele (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (9/5): Superb - Increíble hotel mood
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- Clary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leland (7/5): Good -
- Glinskaya (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was just great!
Excellent location, almost in the center of the old city, clean rooms, comfortable beds, sufficient amount of toiletries. The staff is very polite, attentive, and tried to help with any questions.
The breakfast at the neighboring hotel is very good, tasty and of high quality.
I recommend this hotel to everyone, you will be very, very satisfied! Get a lot of positive impressions, which is very important in our time!!!
- Shope (10/5): Exceptional - Very neat old vintage looking place, close to outside the wall parking. But very nice and comfortable Nothing really
- Julian (9/5): Superb - Good location. Traditional. Nice and warm. A proper two room family room. And really not that expensive from what else I’ve seen.
